Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli Steps Down

Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli has stepped down from his position at Crysis and Ryse developer Crytek, ending his tenure with the company while paving the way for brothers Avni and Faruk Yerli to step in as joint CEOs. Yerli co-founded Crytek back in 1999 with his brothers, and will continue to serve with the developer as "strategic shareholder".

"With the company in a strong position, now is the ideal time to recognise the existing leadership's excellent achievements over these past two years and formally transition executive leadership to Avni and Faruk," Cevat explained in a statement announcing his change in status.

"I have been honoured to serve as CEO of the company I founded with my brothers almost 20 years ago and have seen the team accomplish breakthrough things in that time. I look forward to continue helping Crytek as a major shareholder, and I am very excited to see what tomorrow brings. I have every confidence that the company will continue to shine under the guidance of Avni, Faruk, and the rest of the leadership team."

At one point, Crytek had been on the verge of bankrupcy with the company revealing it had been through a difficult "transitional phase". In response, Crytek outlined a new agenda to "refocus on its core strengths" and last autumn managed to secure an investment that "has fortified Crytek and added the necessary capital for future growth." Hopefully, the future is looking up for the German developer.

  • They've made some amazing games. I wish they would remake Crysis trilogy with 4K support and bell and whistles. Put it in a package for $60 and that's a sale right here=D
  • Here's hoping they're bigger Timesplitter fans than their brother was.
  • OMG Crytek posted about something. Is it related to a new Crysis ?? Nope
  • Crytek haven't made a decent game in years, which is a good chunk of the reason why they are haemorrhaging cash and jobs. Also note that the Cry Engine is a buggy mess which really shouldn't be in use, when there are far superior ones on the market at the moment.
