Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor's Nemesis System marked it out as something pretty unique. No two encounters with the world's ecosystem of Orcs is ever the same, and indeed no two Orcs are the same either. Where do you go from there then? Easy. You add loads more to it, flesh it out even further.

Shadow of War adds Nemesis Fortresses for the first time, each defined by the particular tribe the Orc Overlord belongs too, as well as other random Nemesis encounters with former blood-brothers seeking revenge, or an Orc ally swooping in to save your neck when things are looking dire.

We had the chance to enjoy an extensive section of the game, ahead of its release next month, sampling a story chapter, a mission from the back of a dragon circling through the skies like Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones and a Fortress Assault. You can see it all in our gameplay video below, alongside a brilliantly comical moaning Orc.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on 10th October 2017.
