In a behind-closed-doors hands-off preview of PS4's Spiderman, Insomniac community director James Stevenson confirmed to PlayStation Trophies that the game will be set in an entirely new Spider-Man universe (read: not connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe) and will focus on Peter Parker as much as it will on Spider-Man.
This Spider-Man will be telling the story of a 23-year old Peter Parker that is interning in a laboratory and about to graduate college, who has been Spidey for eight years and is settling into his role as protector of New York City.
We also got to see a few interesting tidbits about this world - Norman Osborn is running for mayor of New York City, Martin Li runs the shelters that Aunt May works in and - according to Stevenson - that Miles Morales teaser at the end of the trailer was no accident.
"[Miles] will have a far bigger part than just a cameo," Stevenson said during the demo. He also stated that Kingpin and Mr. Negative will not be the only two villains you'll see during the course of the game.
Spider-Man will be thwipping onto PlayStation 4 in 2018, and you can watch the web-spinning gameplay trailer below:
