Angry Birds Star Wars is coming to PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4; Rovio Entertainment, Lucasfilm and Activision has announced.

Previously released on mobile with 200 levels, the console version adds 20 exclusive new levels, as well as cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes.

The game also boasts HD visuals, trophies, leaderboards and touchscreen controls on PS Vita. Meanwhile, the PS4 version uses the DualShock 4’s touchpad "to offer precision, touch-screen handling”. PlayStation Move is also supported.

"As a company we want to be where-ever the fans are," Jami Laes, executive vice president of games at Rovio Entertainment, said, "so we are thrilled to be partnering with Activision to bring this one-of-a-kind experience to console and handheld gaming fans.”

  • Didn't he also say the console market is too small for a company like Rovio? Just a couple of months back?
  • This came out today in the US for PS3. Just saying...
  • @2, yeah, a bit slow!
  • If it's the same ridiculous price as the vita version, I'm not remotely interested.
  • Yup, that's why I,m getting ps4. To play Angry Birds. Seriously who cares?
  • For the extremely low price of .99...er, $39.99.
  • "As a company we want to be where-ever the fans are," And still they're up high and charge a hilarious amount of money for a dollar game. Wonder what world their fans live in.
  • At least now that there aren't nearly as many levels and you only have to get 100% destruction on around a quarter of the levels, this could very well be a rental plat since it shouldn't take nearly as long.
  • "I'm dropping a few hundred quid on a PS4 so I cant play angry birds" - No one ever.
  • Angry Birds was fun on phone, but this... Ow, wait Activision...
