Konami has confirmed what everyone already suspected - Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions is not involved with Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the upcoming remake of 2004's MGS3.

"They are not involved," a Konami rep told IGN (via VGC). “However, the development team will work hard to create this remake and also the ports (for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection) so that they can be enjoyed on multiple platforms by even more players all around the world."

An internal team of developers at Konami will be working on the Snake Eater remake alongside Virtuos, the studio behind The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition. And Kojima's lack of involvement seemed like a foregone conclusion, given that he left Konami back in December 2015, shortly after the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and is billed as a “faithful remake” that will use all of the audio from the original without edits. Its release will be preceded by the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 for PS5 in autumn 2023, which includes Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, as well as Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.

  • All they really have to do is not screw it up with a bunch of microtransactions or break up parts of the game to resell later.

Kojima isn't essential if they're doing it right. There are plenty of graphically updated games that did fine without the original people involved.
  • I'm starting to worry that they're going to alter the actual game beyond making it prettier.
  • Until I see gameplay that makes me feel otherwise, I am hyped for this.
  • Would be very surprised if he was given his history with Konami.
