Mattel and developer Milestone have announced Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged, the sequel to 2021's Hot Wheels Unleashed. Slated for an October release, the new game will feature new mechanics, environments, vehicle styles, and game modes.

Turbocharged will boast a garage of more than 130 vehicles, including the addition of motorcycles and ATVs, as well as Stock, Powered, and Ultimate vehicle categories. You'll also be able to earn skill points to spend on perks, so you can assemble your ideal custom build.

New dash and jump abilities offer different ways to traverse Hot Wheels Unleashed 2's five distinct environments, while you'll also be able to interact with objects both on and off the track. Shortcuts will also offer alternate routes through races, which ought to make returning 2-player split-screen races all the most interesting.

Online, cross-play will enable you to take on players on other platforms, and offline, you can delve into an improved story-driven career mode, starring four original characters, each with their own personality and background. You can also expect more user-generated content, like the first game, with more options for user-made liveries and tracks - the Track Editor will also be “refined” with new special modules and features.

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged is coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on 19th October 2023, and you can pre-order it now.

  • What a surprise. Totally unexpected for me. I enjoyed the 1st game a lot.

Just hope they don't go so hard on the season passes... which probably won't happen.
  • I liked the first one but I hope the time trials are more lenient this time, the original ones were very hard to beat unless you took really tricky shortcuts and even then it was tight
  • all the most interesting?
