Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will now be launching in early 2024, having previously been slated for winter 2023. The game will be massive, too, spanning two chunky PS5 Blu-rays.

To coincide with confirmation of the new release window and its 2-disc size, there's a new gameplay trailer to watch below, showcasing some of the FF VII Remake second chapter's “mysterious” story elements, combat, and expansive world.

“We’re honoured to bring Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to players around the world early next year. In the next installment of this thrilling tale, Cloud and his friends - both new and returning - will embark on a new adventure, so all players can enjoy this story, even those without any familiarity with the previous title or the original Final Fantasy VII,” said producer Yoshinori Kitase.

“The entire team has worked fervently with love and adoration for the world of Final Fantasy VII to deliver an unforgettable experience for new adventurers and longtime fans alike, reaching new heights of cinematic storytelling, immersive and fast-paced combat, and rich exploration across a vast world,” Kitase added. "We can’t wait to share more details later this year.:

You'll be able to catch up with Cloud, Barret, Aerith, Tifa, Red XIII, and co. when Final Fantasy VII Rebirth comes to PlayStation 5 in early 2024.

  • 2 disks, the game must be massive.
  • I can understand the size if they're actually delivering on the open world exploration part of it.
  • Very weird to mention the 2 discs in the first reveal trailer, sounds more annoying than impressive to me.
