Bungie dropped a trailer for Destiny 2's upcoming expansion, The Final Shape, which sees actor Nathan Fillion reprising his role as Cayde-6.

The expansion is due to arrive as Destiny’s Light & Darkness Saga, which began with Destiny in 2014, reaches its “epic conclusion”, and this teaser trailer seemingly confirms the return of fan-favourite character Cayde-6, who was killed off in 2018's Forsaken expansion.

Alongside the tease for Destiny 2: The Final Shape, Bungie also dropped a trailer announcing a reboot of Marathon, one of the studio's earliest franchises.

"This is a momentous time for Bungie, as we continue our evolution into a multi-game studio,” said Bungie CEO Pete Parsons.

“More than thirty years of passion for creating incredible games has led us here and will push us into the future. We have a tremendous amount of work ahead, including continuing to build our Marathon development team and supporting Destiny for years to come. With our partners at PlayStation, we’re working to make our bold vision of Bungie as a true entertainment company a reality, while never forgetting our core mission: building worlds that inspire friendship.”

You can see the trailer for Destiny 2: The Final Shape down below, with more information due to arrive in a Destiny Showcase on 22nd August 2023.

  • Sure sure Pete Parsons, Destiny is far from an incredible game. It had the potential to be, likely, the top dog of all, but Bungie (aka Bungled), dropped the ball hard and turn it into a microwaved dish of shovel ware that is sprinkled in pointless grinding.
  • Never get why you'd kill off a favourite character if you're just gonna bring him back anyway.
