Baldur's Gate 3 and The Lord of the Rings: Gollum PlayStation Plus Premium Trials Now Available

Richard Walker

Available now as part of a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription, Baldur's Gate III and The Lords of the Rings: Gollum have both received free game trials, enabling you to sample each game for a brief period.

While checking out Baldur's Gate III is a no-brainer given the widespread acclaim with which it was greeted upon launch, the two hour trial offers only the tiniest snippet of the epic RPG. Meanwhile, the LotR Gollum game was panned upon release, prompting an apology from developer Daedalic Entertainment. You can play that for an hour.

You can add the Baldur's Gate III 2-hour game trial to your library via the PlayStation Store here, and check out The Lord of the Rings: Gollum 1-hour game trial here. You'll need a PlayStation Plus Premium membership to access each trial.

  • I really wish Baldurs Gate 3 was a D&D rules-inspired ARPG vs. turn-based.

It just does not look fun to me, and the dependence on save-scumming to get desirable outcomes really turns me off.
  • @1, keep in mind save scumming is a choice. I have been living with my choices even when I accidentally get someone killed. It makes things way more interesting.

As for turned based vs ARPG, yeah, I can't blame you there. I'm enjoying the game for what it is but would have also preferred that.

On topic, I wonder how many are going to actually try Gollum.
  • @ LordShavron ... Keep in mind that save scumming is the ONLY way for players to mitigate bad design choices by the developers that punish exploration and choice by locking out questlines, etc.

This is compounded by trophies. Speaking for myself, I have saved myself hundreds of hours of replay and extraneous playthroughs to achieve trophies that are linked to horribly designed quests and game mechanics.

When you have limited time to play games, save scumming is less so much of a choice but a necessary evil.
  • One of the great games and the other one well lol
  • Goty and Baldurs Gate. But i guess 2 hrs for Baldurs Gate isnt even the tutorial xD
  • Nice, curious to see what all the fuss is about.
