Assassin’s Creed Mirage Black Friday Pop-Ups Are Technical Error, Ubisoft Says

Assassin's Creed Mirage players have been seeing in-game Black Friday pop-ups, and Ubisoft has said that it is the result of a technical issue.

Players complained online about the pop-ups, which advertised other Assassin's Creed games – currently on sale as part of Black Friday. The adverts would reportedly appear on pause screens and when accessing the map.

In a statement sent to Eurogamer, Ubisoft said:

“We have been made aware that some players encountered pop-up ads while playing certain Assassin's Creed titles yesterday. This was the result of a technical error that we addressed as soon as we learned of the issue.”

That's a pretty remarkable error.

Assassin's Creed Mirage came out in October, and it was something of a return to the series' more stealthy origins. Check out our review of the game here. Rich said:

“In paring things back and zoning in on what really makes Assassin's Creed special, Mirage emerges as one of the most pure and enjoyable entries in the series for a while.”

  • An error, of course it is...
  • I mean ... technicallly ... not untrue. :D
I suddenly have lower expecations for Infinite.

I haven't played any of the new AC's. Do they still do the "it's actually a game by Abstergo" thing? If yes, you could have had a wonderful in-game explanation for advertisments of their games. ^^
