Assassin's Creed Codename: Red, the upcoming AC game set in feudal Japan, will be arriving during Ubisoft's fiscal year 2025, ending in March 2025. That means it'll launch before that date, but could arrive in late 2024.

Ubisoft also committed to a 2024 launch for Star Wars Outlaws in its financial results for Q3 of the current fiscal year (via IGN), while free-to-play shooter XDefiant is also on for this year, and Skull and Bones will at long last launch next week.

As for Assassin's Creed Codename: Red, the series tends to occupy the October/November release window, which makes it more likely that it'll drop late in the year. And, Ubi will no doubt be keen to get more Assassin's Creed out there, with the company mentioning that the brand has seen “overperformance”.

  • This reminds me that I haven't wanted a new assassin's creed game since black flag. Also that Tenchu should get a proper reboot... You know a real assassin game, not collectables creed with 3 good story missions and 72 side quests following some gimp down an alleyway or collecting petals for some forgettable character that nobody gives 5 fucks about
  • @1, while it certainly has gotten worse over the years, the series has always had a ton of collectibles. The first game had something like 400 flags.

Personally I'm approaching this game with caution. I was intrigued by the mix of new and old that we got with Mirage, but the game as a whole was not great. Hopefully it wasn't an indication of what this one will be.
  • Time for a proper reveal then.
  • @2 - the collectables in the first 2 games were second fiddle to the story and world. Every game after that they were just a huge part of the eco system, clearing the map etc. in brotherhood there was literally a block in the story where you had to get coins to upgrade a stable to progress. From that point the 'content' in all these games were just padding, black flag they reached out into a bit of history and lore that changed things up and masked the boring stuff well. The mystery and lore was great in 1 and 2. Sometimes not knowing stuff is fun, y know to speculate and use imagination. I see it a bit like the alien films, me and my mates talked and speculated about the lore so much as kids then they explained it all in covernent (which was a massive bag of wank).

Similar with the lore in creed games, the more they fill in the blanks, the less mystery, less pull to find out the next bit of story till you're just left with a world full of meaningless tasks.

My 2 cents anyway, I get why people still like these games, it's just overstayed it's welcome for me personally.
  • My guess is January or February of 2025. Maybe an initial November/December 2024 announcement but it gets delayed until after Christmas.
  • @LionSquid:
You seriously think a big corpo will let the holiday window slide for one of their biggest releases? It will be released October/November and if needed patched to completition, no matter what.
