Developer Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that Alan Wake II is now “playable from start to finish”, which is a promising sign, especially as the Alan Wake sequel is currently set for a 2023 release. Also, lest we forget, it's been almost thirteen years since the series debuted on Xbox 360 and PC, not counting the 2021 Alan Wake remaster (which marked its PlayStation debut), of course.

“Alan Wake 2 is in full production,” Remedy CEO Tero Virtala remarked in an investors statement (via Eurogamer). “The game will soon have all content in place, and it is playable from start to finish.” Virtala goes on to say that the Finnish studio is now looking to “move onto polishing the experience.”

Also on Remedy's slate are remakes of Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, in partnership with Rockstar Games. As if that wasn't enough already, it also has a shooter being made under the codename ‘Vanguard’, and is concocting a sequel to Control, helpfully named Control 2. Here's hoping that Alan Wake II also makes its 2023 release as planned.

  • Awesome! I've been waiting for this for over a decade.
  • I can't believe people liked the first one. It was so boring, and that ending was just stupid.
  • I loved the first one and both DLCs, just completed the Remastered version of it all this past week and had a blast. Bring on the sequel.
  • I was really hoping I could play it from finish to start instead
  • @4 lol
  • Sweet, still have to finish the first one, can't wait for a gameplay reveal.
  • I’ve been waiting for a sequel for such a long time. Loved the first game and both DLC’s. Been a long time, I may buy the remastered version for PS5.

Also, why remaster the first 2 Max Payne games. Rockstar should just make a Max Payne 4
