Wytchwood is a beautiful indie game that's described as a "crafting adventure game". Developed by Alientrap Games, it's a very unique and very fun experience. You play as a Witch who has forgotten her recent past and a pact she made with a magical Goat to save a young woman, which was a promise to bring him the 12 Souls who harmed the girl. To complete this pact, you must collect these 12 Souls and to do so, you'll have to explore a number of distinct areas including the Forest, the Swamp, the Apiary, the Mountains and more. Each Soul has their own Chapter you must complete with a lot of quests before you can finally reach them. Along the way, you'll meet many people and creatures and will have to solve many a crafting puzzle. While many games in similar genres can have weak stories, Wytchwood is not one of them. Its story is definitely one of its strengths and the longer you play, the more invested you become.
It's a very relaxing game; the artwork and style is gorgeous and you can listen to the soundtrack all day and still enjoy it. It's a special game as it doesn't fail in a single category; its story, graphics and music are all done very well. As for the Platinum, all trophies are story-related, one for each Chapter so you can explore the game at your leisure and not have to worry about any collectibles or missable trophies. You don't need to follow a guide; in fact I encourage you not to and to experience the game as it's meant to be experienced but if you truly wish to hurry the Platinum up, I've included a complete walkthrough underneath each Chapter's trophy.
GLITCH [UPDATED 23/12/21]: Some trophies may not pop 'on time'. For example, First Things First didn't pop for me when the quest completed but it did the next day when I opened the game again. The same thing happened to me when I finished my 4th Chapter but again, the trophy did pop the next day when I came back to the game. If any trophies glitch for you, please let us know in the discussion thread (LINK) or glitch thread (LINK). — UPDATE: According to the devs, the newest patch released today (Dec 23, 2021) has fixed the trophy glitches.

Wytchwood is both linear and not at the same time. The Main Quest has 3 stages; rather than 1 Chapter at a time or all 12 at once, you'll be given 4 Chapters per stage. For example, in Stage 1, you'll have to complete The Bear, The Ox, The Leech and The Snake. You can complete those 4 in any order you please. You can choose to do one at a time or you can move between them as necessary as you enter another area. The latter is probably quicker, because even though each Chapter has their own main location they're set in, in almost all instances you'll still need ingredients that are found in other areas. Because of this, it's highly suggested that as soon as you begin each Stage, the first thing you do should be to go open each new area you have access to and unlock its main teleport. This will save you a lot of time in the long run.
Right as you begin the game, you notice that your Grimoire (AKA your spell book; press ) has lost all of your recipes. To recover them, you'll need to explore the world and inspect many creatures and other objects of nature (eg. a large log on the ground) by pressing and hovering over them. Inspecting them informs you their weakness, which is how you can collect them and their resources. For example, to collect resources from a Mosquito, their weakness is a Smoke Pellet. Once you see that, you immediately recover the crafting spell of how to make the Smoke Pellet. Once you create that item, you can use it on the mosquito by pressing , who will then drop their items for you to pick up. This is the main gameplay of Wytchwood and you'll pick it up fairly quickly. There's no real combat by the usual definition of the term and the closest you'll get is hitting a few creatures with your hatchet and avoiding being smacked by aggro creatures like Geese, Goblins etc.
There are a total of 46 Spells and 30 Reagent Crafting Recipes that you'll need to recover and they use a total of 69 Crafting Ingredients found throughout the game. While some ingredients you can just pick up off the floor, most of them require specific tools to uncover them, such as a pair of Shears, a Hatchet, a Capture Net and more, in addition to using their specific weakness on them. For a complete list of all ingredients and their locations, as well as a list of all recipes, see my Wytchwood ~ All Ingredients and Recipes Guide. To see where to discover these recipes (eg. what creature you have to inspect; what Chapter it unlocks in) please see my Wytchwood ~ All Recipe Locations Sheet.
TIP: I suggest you pick up everything you see on your way, because every single item in the game will be used, most of them multiple times throughout the game, in many different areas, not just the location they're found in. Make the effort to always carry at least a couple of each item, if not more, as that will often save you from several trips back and forth. In this guide, I include every ingredient you're going to need for the main quest Chapters under their respective trophies so you can always prepare ahead of time for the quest you're on if you want to save some time.
See the Platinum Trophy (Platinum Potion ) for more Tips & Tricks to help you along the way.
STEP 1 – Begin your game and complete the Main Quest "First Things First"
This is the only real linear step, as the quest "First Things First" acts like a Prologue, really, by setting the scene and introducing you to the game mechanics.
To fully experience the game, you should play without a guide as nothing is missable. However, if you prefer to speed your Platinum up, see their respective trophies for a complete walkthrough of each Chapter.
At the end of this step, you will have earned:
First Things First
STEP 2 – Complete Part 1 of "The Sleeping Maiden": Complete Chapters The Bear (Forest), The Ox (Fields), The Leech (Swamp) and The Snake (Forest)
You can complete these 4 Chapters in any order you please and they don't need to be completed at once; you'll often need items from many different places so you can take advantage of that by completing whatever is near where you have to go next. However, I always suggest immediately opening the next areas first and unlocking the main Teleport, because that will save you a lot of time in the long run as you're definitely going to need items from those areas, even if you're not on that area's quest yet. Video Walkthroughs included under each trophy as well as the Platinum trophy.
- The first location you'll be given access to is The Forest, which is the location of The Bear , the shortest Chapter of the lot, as well as The Snake . While there, you should collect as many Twigs, Forest Herbs and Reedy Twines as possible.
- The Leech is set in The Swamps, the second location you'll unlock and is a longer quest. You can enter The Swamp from The Forest. In The Swamps, make sure to collect as many Skeeter Snoots (from Mosquitos) as possible, as you will use a lot, especially for Sewing Kits.
- The Ox is primarily set in The Fields, the third location you'll unlock and is another short Chapter. You can enter The Fields from The Forest. The most important items to collect from The Fields are Pumpkinjack Bones and Jars of Milk. You can also collect about 6-10 Crowsfeet, as you'll only need that many for the whole game.
Once you've collected these 4 Souls, return to the Goat in The Shrine to hand them in.
At the end of this step, you will have earned:
The Bear
The Ox
The Leech
The Snake
STEP 3 – Complete Part 2 of "The Sleeping Maiden": Complete Chapters The Cat (Market), The Rat (Graveyard), The Fish (Docks) and The Ram (Village)
- Once you begin Part 2, you can enter The Village, the location of The Ram , from the lower-right area of The Forest. However, you're going to need to visit the other 3 locations in this list towards the end of the Chapter so make sure you unlock them first. Collect a few Mimic's Toes and Pickpocket's Gloves from The Village, as these items will be needed several times later on.
- The remaining three new areas, The Market (for The Cat ), The Graveyard (The Rat ) and The Docks (The Fish ), can all be accessed from The Village.
- Collect a lot of Grave Bones, Mummified Heads and Ghostly Ectoplasm from The Graveyard.
- Collect a few Seashells by pickpocketing Villagers and collect several Crab Claws and Skipper Scales from The Docks.
Once you've collected these 4 Souls, return to the Goat in The Shrine to hand them in.
At the end of this step, you will have earned:
The Cat
The Rat
The Fish
The Ram
STEP 4 – Complete Part 3 of "The Sleeping Maiden": Complete Chapters The Hog (Market), The Stag (Mountain), The Hawk (Fields) and The Wolf (Village). End the game.

- Only 1 new area is unlocked in Part 3, which is The Mountains for The Stag . You can reach The Moutains either through The Forest or from The Village. The most-used item from The Mountains are Red Feathers
- The other three Chapters are all found in areas you've already unlocked:
Once you've collected the last 4 Souls, return to the Goat in The Shrine to hand them in and end the game.

The Hawk
The Hog
The Stag
The Wolf
Return to The Goat in The Shrine, after which you'll get:

Platinum Potion
Note: If you press Continue after the game ends, you will return to the Shrine entrance, just before you hand over the quest to the Goat, but there's really nothing for you to do once the story ends.
