There is NO Cross Save on this title, so this is a potential triple (PS3/4/Vita) for anyone who is interested. There is NO online for the VITA Version of this game.

Introduction

The World Rally Championship (WRC) is a rallying series organized by the FIA and the racing is styled in time trial formats. This is not a game like F1 where other cars are on the track at the same time as you. The series currently consists of three-day events driven on surfaces ranging from gravel and tarmac to snow and ice. Each rally is split into 6 special stages which are run against the clock on closed roads. If you win the stage, you earn the points towards the overall winner of the event. In this game, the events are then rolled up into a driver championship for each level of racing, WRC, WRC2, and WRC Juniors.

To be noted past versions of the WRC series were developed by Milestone S.r.l. and WRC 5 is Kylotonn Games and while the game works very similar, the mechanics of the driving feel slightly different. Overall, if you liked the past titles, then you will like this one as the game plays and feels very similar once you get a feel for the cars. Unlike the past titles, the competition is more balanced to your skills, so no longer can you anticipate winning events by over 2 minutes, now it will be closer to 30 seconds.

Roadmap

TIME SAVING NOTE - If you want to save yourself a ton of frustration and replays, head into the settings and change the difficulty of your opponents to easy. At this setting you should be able to win every rally stage and win the overall 3 day event with 30 seconds of breathing room. See below for the setup of game to ease the pain:

PATCH NOTE!!!!!

The latest version of the patch has removed the ability to complete the "DNF" strategy outlined in Steps 1 & 2. You can overcome this by completing steps 1 & 2 before downloading the patch. After you have completed these sections, then install the patch and move forward.

Step 1 - Complete Quick play event related trophies.

This seems like it would be extremely time intensive, however if you use the trick outlined in Explorer then this can be done in under and hour.

Step 2 - Complete Couch Multiplayer

Using the same method as above, you will spend more time looking at the loading screen than actually playing the game.

Step 3 - Career Mode

This is where you will spend your time. You have about 27 events ahead if you with each event lasting 20-25 minutes and loading times, which are less than ideal. If for some reason you do not earn one of the specific event trophies for winning that event, you will have to play another season to get back to that event, so make a point of winning everything you can.

Step 4 –Online

Race 10 races online and win just 1. Not much to this, each race is about 5 minutes, so an hour or so of effort. If you boost them, you can use private matches and it should take you ~ 15 minutes depending on the stage you use. Here you will earn:

Online victory

Step 5 - Clean up

Earn every trophy in the game.

Create a customised driver.

Start career mode and you will be asked to create your driver. Ping..not much to it.
Winner!

Win a Special Stage in any off-line game mode.
Just race any quick play stage and win it. If you use the settings to move to “easy”, this should come in your first event see Well done! as these can be done together

Finish at least one Special Stage in each rally in Quick Stage mode.

Now that you have won a stage you can actually quickly run through all of the stages without having to race them. When the stage starts, drive across the starting line then hit “start” and then choose “Give Up”. You will get credit for the even as there is no requirement to win or cross the finish line, a DNF is a finish in this game.

Sign here

Sign your first contract in Career mode.
Once you have created your customer driver, you will then drive your first race and given a contract.
Things are getting serious

Sign a contract with Volkswagen, Citroën, Hyundai or M-Sport.

After you win the world championship in WRC, the big boys will come calling. Sign you contract with one of these teams between seasons and you are done. Most likely this will be the last career trophy you earn.
Podium

Finish in the top three in a Special Stage in Career mode.

Win a Special Stage in Career mode.
Win your first event in WRC Juniors and this will come. If you are not wining events, then you will have a hard time wining the championships. Drive clean and use your rewinds liberally so that you are putting up the best times you can.
Rally driver

Win a Special Stage in Simulation setting in any off-line mode.
Simply set your settings to “simulation” and have a crack at it. You will crash your car a lot during this mode, but that also means excessive repairs. Use the rewind where it makes sense. If the competition is set to “easy”, it should not matter if you make a mess of your car as the competition will as well. Also a great time to get "Ready at Dawn" , Bring it on! , Specialist

Win the Rallye Monte Carlo in Career mode.
Win the Rally; first chance to do this is in WRC Junior.
Sweden!

Win the Rally Sweden in Career mode.
Win the Rally; first chance to do this is in WRC 2.
Mexico!

Win the Rally Guanajuato México in Career mode.

Fix
I was in the lead after stage one. The second stage is where no matter what I did I was 30 seconds + behind the leader. I restarted stage and tried again, got a slightly better time, but was still 30 seconds behind.

I restarted stage again, but instead of pressing start, I chose the option to quit to main menu. Went back to career and it started me on stage three. Finished stage three and I was in the lead in the overall standings rather than being 20 or so seconds back.

PATCH NOTE!!!!!

After you download the patch for the game this stage is easy to beat like the rest of them.
Spain!

Win the RallyRACC Catalunya-COSTA DAURADA in Career mode.
Win the Rally; first chance to do this is in WRC Junior.
Wales!

Win the Wales Rally GB in Career mode.
Win the Rally; first chance to do this is in WRC 2.
First step

Finish a Junior season in first place in Career mode.
There are 7 events in this series; simply score the most points (try to win) and at the end of the season you will be presented with this trophy as the champion.
Second step...

Finish a WRC-2 season in first place in Career mode.
After WRC Junior, move to WRC-2 where there are 7 events in this series; simply score the most points (try to win), and at the end of the season, you will be presented with this trophy as the champion.
World Champion!

Finish a WRC season in first place in Career mode.
After WRC 2 move to WRC where there are 13 events in this series, simply score the most points (try to win), and at the end of the season, you will be presented with this trophy as the champion. This is not any more difficult; the cars are just faster. You may use your rewind a little bit more here.
Mechanic

Repair your car for the first time.
Between stages, you will have an opportunity to repair your car. Fix anything on it and the trophy will pop. Also see "Ready at Dawn".
"Ready at Dawn"

Exceed the repair time budget for the first time.
Simply use up all your repair time between stages for this trophy. When in simulation mode, you will do more than enough damage to the car. See Rally driver.

As you can see in the image I have highlighted, the area where you see the time for repair. Just exceed the 45 minutes of repair time with all of your repairs for this trophy.
Specialist

Tune your car for the first time.
You actually do not have to save any changes here. Simply head into the car setup in the garage, switch a setting and the trophy is yours, then move the setting back. A good place to get this is while getting Rally driver.
Bring it on!

Finish a Special Stage using tyres that aren't adapted to the road surface.

Look at the surface for the event. If it is pavement, then use gravel tires, etc. See Rally driver as it is a great time to get it done.

Couch surfer

Finish a Special Stage in Offline Multiplayer mode with at least two players.

Head into offline multiplayer for this. Here you do not even need to drive the event. Player 1, start race then give up using the method outlined in Explorer . Then repeat for player 2 and the trophy will pop at the summary screen.

"Beam me up, Scotty"

Respawn manually for the first time.
Simple, while driving in career mode simply push down on the directional and hold it.
"Back in Time"

Use the Snapshot for the first time.
Hold the triangle for this; for lack of a better description, this is a rewind feature for the game. It takes you back to the last checkpoint and you may lose a little progress, but you also have the time reset.
