INTRODUCTION

Most of the trophies for Vessel are unmissable, however there are two that are, but they are obtained near the beginning of the game and are pretty easy to obtain.

Outside of those two, every other trophy is unmissable as you can revisit all the areas needed for those trophies. So as long as you obtain the two easily missable trophies, you can play the game at your own pace and clear up later.

Vessel is a 2D physic platformer/puzzle game created by Strange Loop Games and is centered around the manipulation of various fluids. It was originally released on 1st March 2012 for Windows and has been ported to Linux and recently the PS3.

Gameplay is 80% puzzles and 20% platforming in my opinion. The game gradually introduces you to new liquids and seeds via journal entries that make up a story.

The liquids, when combined with seeds (seeds are the equivalent of computer programs) form Fluros, which perform the tasks the seeds dictate. There are 6 fluids and 5 seeds to get to grips with.

The puzzles in the game start off very easy and get quite complex towards the end of the game, but they are all very logical in the way they are set up.

Overall I'd highly recommend this to fans of puzzle games.

ROADMAP

Step 1:
Play through the game completing all possible puzzles, picking up all Protoplasms and making sure to obtain the 2 missable trophies. The missable trophies are at the beginning of the game, from the point where you are locked out of the workshop to the point where you return to it. It is recommended to obtain Water Recycling as early as possible as it becomes much more awkward to do later in the game.

Step 2:
Clearing up any machines not fixed, Protoplasms missed or trophies not obtained can easily be obtained now. Even if you complete the game, your last checkpoint will be before the final puzzle. When you enter the 3 area's (Factory, Orchard, Mines) you can skip to any puzzle you have encountered in the past and redo them over again (or press start and reset the puzzle)

Of special note is the ability to shoot infinite Protoplasm, even if you don't have any, meaning you can buy all of the upgrades straight away (They have no effect on the game as such, just give you spraying options and larger tank capacities) To do so, select your bottom tank using from there start shooting the liquid and then press and hold the squirter will switch to a never ending supply or Protoplasm.

19 trophies ( 17  )

  • Create five combinations of fluro and liquid types

See Grand Professor of the hydrofluric sciences

  • Fix all broken machines in the factory

There are 9 broken machines in the factory, only 8 of which are required to progress the story. All 9 are required for the trophy to unlock (And for access to a Protoplasm).

Please refer to the WALKTHROUGH video to see how to repair all of the machines.

  • Descend into the mines without using the elevator

It is advised that you make a manual save here, so that you can reload and obtain the Protoplasm present here.

When you first enter the mines, you will arrive at an elevator that you need to use to descend down into then mines.

You need to jump off the right hand side of the elevator and keep holding left; you will avoid all hazards on the way down and most likely end up in a green cave. From here, do the exact same thing as before, jump off the edge and hold left. You should reach the bottom pretty soon and the trophy will unlock.

Now reload your save so that you may collect the Protoplasm present.

  • Create every possible combination of fluro and liquid types

This trophy is somewhat misleading as there are 30 combinations of Fluro in the game, but only 25 are needed.

You need to mix the 5 seeds with each of the 6 liquids (Water, Lava, Blue Goo, Red Goo, Green Goo, Protoplasm)

You may earn this over the course of the game, but if it doesn't, using each seed and Goo sequentially will cause it to unlock.

  • Create a fluro with both blue goo and red goo

Further on in the Orchard, you will come to this area.

It is by far the easiest place to attempt this trophy as you have an infinite supply of blue and red goo. Only blue goo may be sucked up and squirted out (You will have obtained the tank earlier in the level). What you must do is stand on top of the red pipe and hold out a seed. Quickly move to the middle of the pipes so that you pick up just enough red goo to barely form a Fluro. Whilst it is forming into a Fluro (the little animation where it takes form), squirt it with some blue goo. If you are too early or too late, the Fluro will instantly explode and you'll have to try again.

Be careful; the explosions can kill you.

  • Create a fluro that is it's own worst enemy

To create this Fluro, you need to use the Green Goo and the Light hating seed, however doing this directly won't work. To enable the combination to succeed, you need to use roughly 50% Green Goo and 50% Protoplasm; doing so will enable the Fluro to walk around and the trophy to unlock.

To use Protoplasm you need to scroll to your bottom tube of liquid, then hold then you will be able to fire out Protoplasm.

  • Fix the accelerator in the workshop

Awarded for fixing the final machine in the game.

See the WALKTHROUGH for the solution.

  • Repurpose the farm's watering system to fly higher than the trees

Whilst traversing the Orchard, you will come to this area.

The water cannon in the middle is what you are aiming for. You need to jump into the stream and balance yourself so you are pushed above the 2 trees on the ledges above. It is easier to attempt when the water stream is facing away from you.

  • Fix every broken machine, windmill and extractor in the game

This is for repairing every machine/windmill/extractor in all 3 areas. If you have been following the trophy guide up till now, this will automatically unlock after Mine Machinery Specialist.

  • Fix all broken extractors in the mines

There are 6 broken extractors in the Mines, only 5 of which are required to progress the story. All 6 are required for the trophy to unlock (And for access to a Protoplasm).

Please refer to the WALKTHROUGH video to see how to repair all of the extractors

  • Traverse the caves back to the workshop without water touching your light

    (MISSABLE)

I'd recommend a manual save at this point before attempting it.

Whilst in the section where you are attempting to return to the workshop, you will encounter this overhead handrail.

From the moment you grab the handrail, nothing is allowed to touch the lantern until you reach the end. There are various hazards such as dripping water; if for any reason the lantern gets hit, you will notice it becomes dimmer. If this happens immediately load the manual save you made and try again.

  • Collect every protoplasm blob in the game

This will unlock after finding all the Protoplasms in the game.

    There are

    1 in the introduction (unmissable)
    9 in the Factory
    5 in the Orchard
    5 in the Mines

If you have been following the trophy guide, this should unlock after Protoplasm Survey: The Mines.

  • Collect every protoplasm blob in the factory

There are 9 Protoplasms available to collect in the factory; refer to the WALKTHROUGH for their locations.

  • Collect every protoplasm blob in the mines

There are 5 Protoplasms available to collect in the Mines. Refer to the WALKTHROUGH for their locations.

  • Collect every protoplasm blob in the orchard

There are 5 Protoplasms available to collect in the Orchard, refer to the WALKTHROUGH for their locations.

  • Create ten combinations of fluro and liquid types

See Grand Professor of the hydrofluric sciences

  • Find a use for the waterfall under the workshop

    (MISSABLE)

Recommended to make a manual save here, as you cannot climb back up to the area with the waterfall on.

Eventually you will encounter this waterfall during the introduction section.

You must equip the seed you have recently obtained, but do not drop it. Allow it to pick up some water then run to the left (you will notice more water dragging behind you), drop off the cliff and move left a bit more. When you believe you have moved far enough to the left, drop the seed and allow it to form into the Fluro. If you have moved left far enough, the Fluro will begin to head left itself and jump on a switch (triggering the trophy); if not, reload your save and head a bit more to the left next time.

This is the switch the Fluro will activate.

  • Stomp a fluro into the turbine that created it

This can be obtained very early on in the game and is highly recommended. When the Journal entry 'Mass Production' appears on screen, you will be in a room with a crank handle up top, a push switch next to the ladder and a Fluro machine on the right. Turn the crank handle and notice where the water enters the machine, go back down the ladder and jump on the switch. Now you must quickly head back up the ladder and jump off the right of the platform, and attempt to squash the Fluro whilst it is on the part of the machine where the water enters.

Here is an image to show you whereabouts you need to be hitting the Fluro (Notice it on the water entry point).

  • Fix all broken windmills in the orchard

There are 6 broken windmills in the Orchard, only 5 of which are required to progress the story. All 6 are required for the trophy to unlock (And for access to a Protoplasm).

Please refer to the WALKTHROUGH video to see how to repair all of the windmills.
