Introduction:

Welcome to Ultra Mission! Developed and published by Gumbo Machine, this simple yet fun game is one of the final games to be released on the PS Vita. In this game, players will take the role of an agent who is sent on a mission to investigate the financial records that are inside the endless labyrinth of Otto Labs after some suspicious pieces of information had been discovered within them during an autopsy by the Stellar Exchange Commission.

Trophy-wise, this game follows some of the same basic easy trophy unlocking conventions found in other games published by Ratalaika, EastAsiaSoft and Sometimes You, where players can easily obtain the Platinum trophy within minutes of starting it for the first time.

Controls:

dpad.png/ls.png: Movement
cross.png: Shoot
circle.png: Stand; you can also hold the button and move the dpad.png or ls.png to aim your gun in eight different directions.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Enjoy the game to your heart's content!

Since this game is quick and simple, this will be the only step featured in the guide as you will need to play through all of the game's levels while also reaching a specific score, completing two additional tasks that require the player to complete a level without firing projectiles from their gun and completing a level with 6 or more points of health in your health meter for the first time (or simply lose a piece of health after obtaining an additional chunk as well). Be sure to keep your cool when going through each level and scoring points, especially since you should also replenish your health whenever possible.

By the time you complete this step, you will have the following trophies unlocked:

Ultra Mission contains twenty levels where the player will work their way to the exit while dealing with the many enemies that they will come across along the way. Each level in the game has a completely different layout, while some will debut a new enemy after you have completed a certain number of levels. The list of enemies you'll come across throughout your journey can be found below:

    ImageInformationBehavior
Sentry RobotStandard run-of-the-mill enemy that you'll first come across in level 1. These enemies basically just walk around the map and have no means of attacking the player.
TankYou'll first come across this enemy in level 2. These enemies will move around the map and fire projectiles to attack the player.
SkeletonsYou'll first come across this enemy in Level 5. These enemies function similarly to the tank, except they can fire projectiles in all directions unlike the former.
Zombie AgentsYou'll first come across this enemy in level 11. These enemies will usually move around the map but will explode into three upwards projectiles provided that you haven't defeated them after a certain amount of time has passed.

The key to going through each of the levels in the game is to defeat as many enemies as you can and keep your cool since the walls are also a hazard that can't be avoided since you will also get killed upon making contact with them. Whenever a certain amount of time has passed, an object will show up that will give the player an extra life upon shooting it (more information on this can be found in Healthy Living trophy_gold.png). You should also keep note of which direction the enemy's projectiles will come through as you make your way through each level. You should also defeat enemies to rack up points and build up your combo meter to help boost your score (more information on this can be found in Complete Monster trophy_gold.png).

You will unlock this trophy upon completing the twentieth and final level of the game. It should be noted, however, that the game will loop after completing it for the first time so if you haven't unlocked Pacifist Run trophy_gold.png at any point during your playthrough, you can use this opportunity to do so.
  • Score at least 10,000 points in a single playthrough.

See Complete Monster trophy_gold.png for more information.

Fun Fact: This trophy is a nod to the infamous "It's Over 9,000!" meme that originated from the Ocean Group dub of Dragon Ball Z.
  • Score at least 25,000 points in a single playthrough.

See Complete Monster trophy_gold.png for more information.
  • Score at least 50,000 points in a single playthrough.

See Complete Monster trophy_gold.png for more information.
  • Score at least 75,000 points in a single playthrough.

See Complete Monster trophy_gold.png for more information.
  • Score at least 100,000 points in a single playthrough.

Aside from completing all twenty levels, you will also be tasked with scoring a specific number of points while defeating enemies and avoiding their projectiles while venturing through the endless labyrinth of Otto Labs, in this particular case, you will need to score a total of 100,000 points or more.

Whenever you defeat an enemy, not only will your score go up but your combo gauge will also fill up as well, giving you the opportunity to score more points simply by defeating enemies. However, it should also be noted that other enemies can kill each other and help benefit your score and combo meter but keep in mind that whenever you lose a piece of your health meter, your combo meter will also reset.

Needless to say, your score will not reset and enemies will respawn in the same spots when you have started the stage for the first time whenever you lose a piece of health so you can use this to your advantage when going for this and the other trophies above it but you should also refill your health whenever possible while respawning in the same level after dying since you will need to go for You'll Never Escape trophy_gold.png, which is the main task at hand. Keep in mind that each of these trophies will not be unlocked until you either lose a piece of your health or complete the current level you are in.

Secret trophies

  • Collect more than 5 health points at a time.

Whenever you start the game, you will have 5 health points to start out with, as indicated by your health meter at the top-left corner of the screen between your score and the combo meter and after 10 seconds have passed by in each level, an object that's represented by 2 small blow horns over a bouncing circle that has an exclamation mark on it will appear. An example of this object can be found in the following screenshot:

Whenever you destroy it, not only will you gain another chunk of health but you will also notice that eight projectiles will come out of it after you shoot it down for the first time so be sure to avoid them as fast as possible whenever they show up since you'll also refill your health this way.

As the trophy's description says, you need to complete a level (or die after destroying the aforementioned object) after having six points of health in your health meter in order to unlock it.
  • Complete any level without firing your weapon.

In order to unlock this trophy, you will need to complete a level without shooting with cross.png at least once. You can easily unlock this by playing through the first level and make it straight to the exit without having to deal with any of the sentries but keep in mind that you need to wait until they get out of your way before attempting to proceed further.
