The Transformers are back and this time, they're in the hands of acclaimed developer PlatinumGames, who has married their over-the-top, stylish action with a major dose of nostalgia to create a Transformers game like none other. The Autobots face off against the Decepticons when Megatron discovers a way to harness the enormous power of Plasma Energy to Cyberform Earth. The game primarily draws inspiration from the original cartoon, among other sources, and features the return of some of the surviving voice actors from the original cartoon.

Step 1: Play through the game on scout difficulty with Optimus Prime while obtaining all collectibles.

Please note you must have a sniper rifle equipped at all times, since some collectibles are impossible to get without it.

By the end of this step, you will have earned:

Till All Are One
Supreme Commander
Avid Collector
No Stone Unturned

Step 2: Play through the game 4 more times on scout difficulty, once with each remaining playable character.

Now that you’re familiar with the game and don’t have to find any more collectibles, you can just quickly run through the game 4 more times with each remaining Autobot (Bumblebee, Wheeljack, Sideswipe and Grimlock). This should only take maybe 2-3 hours with each character.

By the end of this step, you will have earned:

Sting Like a Bee
The Wizard of Iacon
Raging Bull
The King

Step 3: Play through the game on Commander difficulty while making sure to SS rank each chapter and kill all bosses without taking any damage.

You can choose any Autobot for this, but I'd recommend you use Optimus Prime as he’s the best all-around Autobot. You can make this easier on yourself by backing up your save to USB/cloud storage every time you get an SS rank at the end of every mission. That way, if you happen to get a lower rank on the next mission, you can just reload your save as many times as you need to until you get the desired rank. Also make sure to defeat all the relevant bosses without taking any damage.

By the end of this step, you will have earned:

Urban Landscaping
Wrecking Crew
HARD-Core
Triple Changer
Destruction Derby
Don't Look Him in the Eye
Broken Radio
Surround Sound
Emperor of Destruction
Platinum

Step 4: Challenge mode.

Simply complete all 50 missions in challenge mode. This can be done on any difficulty with any autobot, so go ahead and play on scout difficulty. This will be very easy with your high-leveled character and weapons.

By the end of this step, you will have earned:

Halfway There
All Clear

Step 5: Clean up.

You most likely will have already earned these miscellaneous trophies, but in case you didn't, you can do them now. These can be earned with any autobot on any difficulty, so it's best to attempt them on scout difficulty.

By the end of this step, you will have earned:

Synthesis 101
Full Throttle
(Don't) Hit the Brakes!
Flyswatter
Catch This!
Pedal to the Metal
Quick Reflexes
Bullet Storm
Roadblock
All Trophies

  • Completed all Challenge Mode missions on any difficulty.

There are 50 challenges in the game. Some of these are for winning timed races or defeating enemies while navigating timed mazes, but the majority of them are simply for defeating all enemies onscreen. Most of these will pose no issue as you can attempt these challenges on scout difficulty while using upgraded weapons and character stats. Completing earlier challenges unlocks later ones, and the rest of the challenges are unlocked by completing the entire story mode on commander difficulty. Your score/rank does not matter; you just have to complete them.

In case you get stuck finding the optimal routes to finish the timed races and timed mazes, here is a video guide for completing all of the challenges, created by Dukker JammishTransformers: Devastation Challenges Mode Guide

  • Completed half of all Challenge Mode missions on any difficulty.

  • Collected all collectible items.

There are several collectible types in this game. They consist of:

    • Decepticon Spy Ops: These are flying satellites that can be seen orbiting in the sky. Shoot them down to collect them.
    • Logs: These are disks that provide background info and lore about the world of Transformers. Collect them by getting near and pressing .
    • Kremzeeks: These are little balls of energy that hop around. You collect them by catching them with  when they are close to you.
    • Decepticon Flags: These are purple holographic Deception emblems that hover in the air. You collect them by shooting them. Some are in far away locations that are impossible to hit unless you shoot at it with a sniper rifle. Make sure you have a sniper rifle equipped at all times.
    • Mystery Objects: These are 12 random letters that spell the word T-R-A-N-S-F-O-R-M-E-R-S. Simply run into them to collect them.

  • Synthesized 10 weapons.

All weapons in the game have stat attributes and are overall ranked as D, C, B, A, S, and SS. The higher the rank, the better/more powerful that weapon is. You acquire weapons in the game by opening chests and defeating enemies while playing through the story or in challenge mode. You can also purchase weapons when you are in The Ark. You typically find higher graded weapons on harder difficulties.

You can also synthesize weapons to increase their overall stats. While in The Ark, from the menu select WEAPONS ---> SYNTHESIZE. You select the first weapon you want to keep, and then synthesize it with another weapon. This combines the stats of the both weapons, essentially making your first weapon stronger while the second weapon is discarded. You can synthesize the same weapon multiple times until it is maxed out. Please note that you need to spend in-game currency each time you synthesize a weapon.

For the purposes of this trophy, you need to synthesize 10 different weapons. You can back up your save, synthesize your 10 cheapest weapons, then reload your save so you won't lose your currency.

  • Defeated 100 enemies with Vehicle/Dino Attacks.

Vehicle attacks (or Dino attacks if you're playing as Grimlock) are damaging finisher moves where you quickly transform into a vehicle and smash into an enemy. (Grimlock headbutts them instead). This will either stagger an enemy, leaving them open to other attack combos, or kill them outright if their health is low enough. You do this attack by pressing  when, after attacking enemies, you hear a loud ping sound and see a blue flash of light.

The most common ways of triggering an opening for a vehicle/dino attack are:

    • Repeatedly hitting the enemy with regular attacks using  or
    • Driving towards the enemy and pressing  or  (this is called a rush attack; see (Don't) Hit the Brakes!for more information)
    • Headshots

Kill 100 enemies with this move to earn this trophy. This can be earned cumulatively across multiple playthroughs and challenge missions.

  • Defeated 100 enemies with Rush Attacks.

After transforming into a vehicle (by long pressing ), perform a rush attack by driving towards an enemy at full speed and pressing  or  up close to them. You will hit the enemy an uppercut that will either stagger them, leaving them open to other attack combos, or kill them outright if their health is low enough.

Kill 100 enemies with this move to earn this trophy. This can be earned cumulatively across multiple playthroughs and challenge missions.

  • Completed all chapters, earning the highest rank, on difficulty COMMANDER or greater.

This is the trophy that will make or break your platinum run. You have to complete the entire game with an overall SS rank. The story mode has 7 chapters, and each chapter consists of a number of missions (ranging in number from 5 in the shortest one to 17 in the longest one).

This will be a challenging endeavor, but you can make things a bit easier on yourself by backing up your progress to USB/cloud storage after getting an SS rank at the end of each mission. This way, if you get a low rank on a subsequent mission, you can reload your save and try again until you are successful.

Generally speaking, you can still get an overall SS ranking for the chapter, even if you happen to fall short and get lower than an SS rank in a couple of individual missions. On longer chapters you will be fine with a couple S ranks, even an A rank. If you get more than one A though, you won't get an SS rank overall. For shorter chapters its best you avoid getting any A ranks altogether. Also be careful not to miss any optional battle encounters, as this will automatically lock you out of an SS rank at the end of the chapter.

Your overall score is dependent on how fast you complete the mission, how much damage you took (the more damage you take, the lower your score), and the number of headshots, focuses, vehicle attacks, rush attacks, parries, and reversals you performed.

There are several ways you can go about completing missions to earn SS ranks. The first way is to keep a low level machine gun with you at all times and continually use reversals when enemies attack so you can dive in slo-mo and get easy headshots. (See Bullet Storm for more info). This method will take longer and cause you to lose your time bonus, but the headshots and reversals bonuses will more than make up for it.

As another option, for an easier time, you can just play through the game on Commander difficulty (rank doesn't matter, you just need to finish it) and you will unlock Magnus difficulty. Magnus difficulty is harder, but you can beat this to unlock even more powerful weapons that will make your Commander run easier because your weapons/character will be much stronger. Additionally, though not at all necessary, you can even beat Magnus difficulty and unlock Prime difficulty. Again, this is harder but rewards you with even stronger gear.

I personally completed the SS ranks just from upgrading my weapons, using regular combos, vehicle attacks and occasional headshots. I strongly recommend acquiring and upgrading a beam hammer. It stun locks enemies (even bosses) so you can easily follow up with more attacks. It also does a ton of damage. Here is the playlist I used to complete my SS run (credit to IXNITE): Transformers: Devastation SS Rank Playthrough Guide Playlist

  • Used parrying to catch the following from an enemy: a boulder, a missile, and both drill types.

Parry is a skill you need to purchase from the LAB menu (while in The Ark hub). It allows you to catch projectiles that enemies throw/shoot at you, by flicking  towards the projectile just as it is about to hit you. This should be the first skill you purchase.

You can parry projectiles thrown at you during the following battles:

    • Chapter 1, Mission 12 - Scrapper throws boulder at you while in vehicle form.
    • Chapter 1, Mission 15 - Bonecrusher shoots a drill at you while in humanoid form.
    • Chapter 1, Mission 17 - Devastator shoots his drill at you (the second type) during the second phase of his boss fight.
    • Chapter 3, Mission 9 - Blitzwing fires missiles at you while in tank form.
  • Used Focus 100 times.

Focus is activated by pressing  just as an enemy attack is about to hit you. Time slows down and you dodge roll out of the way, allowing you to quickly counter attack. Do this 100 times and the trophy will pop. This can be earned cumulatively across multiple playthroughs and challenge missions.

  • After dodging, quickly countered with a melee attack 100 times.

To unlock this trophy, you'll need to purchase the reversal skill from the LAB menu (while in The Ark hub). Just as an enemy attack is about to hit, press  + hold  or  simultaneously. Time will slow down and you will dodge and melee punch the enemy instead of going into focus. Do this 100 times and the trophy will pop. This can be earned cumulatively across multiple playthroughs and challenge missions.

  • After dodging, quickly countered with a ranged attack 100 times.

To unlock this trophy, you'll need to purchase the reversal skill from the LAB menu (while in The Ark hub). Just as an enemy attack is about to hit, press + simultaneously. Time will slow down and you will dive sideways in the air instead of going into focus. This allows you to get some quick headshots. Do this 100 times and the trophy will pop. This can be earned cumulatively across multiple playthroughs and challenge missions.

  • Performed 100 successful head shots.

Simply land 100 headshots against enemies. It does not need to be a killing blow. Can be obtained quickly by using a low level machine gun and farming headshots against larger Decepticons like Devastator and Menasor. This can be earned cumulatively across multiple playthroughs and challenge missions.

Secret trophies

  • Finished the lift battle in Chapter 2 without taking damage from Insecticons.

This trophy takes place over 2 consecutive missions in Chaper 2 (missions 8 and 9), both of which are relatively short. Mission 8 is really simple: It places you on a turret (with infinite ammo) on a moving platform and requires you kill swarms of attacking Insecticons. When you kill them all, mission 9 begins with the Insecticon Skrapnel attacking you. Kill him without getting damaged for the trophy. If you get hit, you'll need to restart the checkpoint and try again. This fight is inconsequential with an upgraded character, as you can simply use an ultimate attack (+) and kill him instantly.

  • In chapter 1, on difficulty COMMANDER or greater, knocked Devastator into a building 3 times.

You fight Devastator twice during Chapter 1, in missions 3 and 17. Run around him (while avoiding his other attacks) until he tries to kick you with his right leg. Use focus to dodge out of the way, and start quickly attacking his left leg. This should cause him to stumble and bend down on one knee. Double jump and start to attack his head until you're prompted to do a vehicle attack. This attack almost always causes him to be thrown backwards and slammed into the buildings behind him. Do this 3 times total over the course of both missions and the trophy will pop. Can be combined with Wrecking Crew.

  • In chapter 4, defeated Motormaster while racing him.

At the beginning of Mission 3, Chapter 4, you have to race Motormaster through the city to get to the objective. If he wins the race, you will fail the mission and have to restart. Now, the name of the trophy is a bit misleading, as you won't get it simply by winning the race. You have to defeat him in battle before either of you get to the finish line. Catch up to him by driving through the speed boost circles scattered along the course, but instead of racing past him, start attacking him. He isn't hard to beat, he just has a longer health bar than most of the regular enemies you encounter. Once you get his health down to zero, the trophy will pop.

  • In chapter 6, on diff. COMMANDER or greater, defeated Soundwave without defeating any cassettes.

This boss fight consists of 3 enemies: Soundwave and 2 cassette Decepticons, Frenzy and Laserbeak. You have to kill Soundwave without killing the other 2 smaller Decepticons. Try to isolate Soundwave and keep him stunned with headshots, melee and vehicle attacks. Try not to use any  or + attacks, as these do a lot of damage and have a wide area of attack, and can easily kill the cassette Decepticons as they have less health. Restart the checkpoint if you hit any of them. This trophy can be combined with Broken Radio.

  • In chapter 1, on difficulty COMMANDER or greater, defeated Devastator without taking damage.

Devastator is a huge Decepticon, and his ranged attacks can hit you from very far away. Due to his massive size, his attacks do A LOT of damage, and he will kill you in just a few hits. You have to fight him twice in this chapter, at the end of Mission 3 and again at the end of Mission 17. During the first encounter, Devastator will use many tactics to try to kill you. If you are close to him, he may try to kick you, ground pound you with his fist or grab you and slam you into the ground. If you go further away from him, he will try swiping you with his hand, shooting at you with his gun or jumping into the air to stomp on you with both feet. One of his attacks involve stomping the ground with one leg, which forces the assault to quickly rise out of the ground, and depending on your position this can damage you if you are hit. He can do this attack regardless of your distance from him.

I found it best to be very aggressive with Devastator. All of his attacks can be dodged with focus, so use it at every opportunity to avoid all his attacks, slow time and land your own melee combos, headshots and vehicle attacks. Try to stay close to him when fighting, so you have more opportunities to deal damage when counter attacking. Your melee combos and vehicle attacks can deal more damage and stun lock him faster than trying to score headshots from range.

The second encounter has 2 phases. The first phase is exactly like the first battle encounter, except this time there's a checkpoint when Devastator's health gets to 50%. During the second phase of the fight, he changes his hands into drills, which do more damage than his standard punches. His attack pattern remains the same as before, but with 2 additions: he will sometimes shoot his drills at you, which you can either avoid with focus dodging or catch using parry (see Catch this! for more details on how to parry), or he will try to ground pound you with his new drill fists. This time, however, he will try to pound you several times in a row in rapid succession, so you will have to be prepared to focus dodge multiple times in a row. This move in particular does excessive damage, and can kill you instantly if you get hit by more than 2 or 3 of these pounds, even from a full health bar! These 2 moves can also be dodged with focus, so using the same strategy as highlighted above will defeat him eventually. Use an Ultimate Attack (+) whenever the combo meter is maxed, to unleash a powerful attack move that deals heavy damage.

To get this trophy you have to defeat him flawlessly during both encounters. Restart the checkpoint any time he manages to hit you.

  • In chapter 2, on difficulty COMMANDER or greater, destroyed the shielding without taking damage.

This is a relatively easy trophy. In Mission 12, at the end of Chapter 2, you will have to defeat the Crystal Shielding. Transform into a vehicle, drive into it at full speed, and perform a rush attack with    and then a vehicle attack with  Repeat this until it is destroyed. If you take any damage, you'll need to restart the checkpoint.

  • In chapter 3, on difficulty COMMANDER or greater, defeated Blitzwing without taking damage.

For this trophy, only the second phase of the fight counts (Mission 9), so it doesn't matter if you take damage on the bridge during the first driving phase (Mission 8). Blitzwing is a tough opponent. His punches are fast and he will attack you even while you are in the middle of combo-ing him, so you ALWAYS have to be prepared to focus dodge. He will sometimes fire his gun at you or shoot a cluster of missiles that go straight up in the air and explode in close proximity in an area around where he is standing, though the latter missiles are easily avoided by driving away. You can use this opportunity to drive into him with a vehicle/rush attack. When you deplete his health by approximately 25%, you will trigger a checkpoint and the second part of this fight will begin.

During this part, in addition to his previous repertoire of attacks, he can also transform into a jet or tank. As a jet, he will fly around and try to drop bombs on you. You can avoid him entirely by transforming into a vehicle and driving away from him, or you can stand still and focus dodge the bombs, allowing you to land some shots with your ranged weapons. As a tank, he will either fire cannons at you or try to run you over. Both of these attacks can be focus dodged.

As usual, focus dodge all attacks and counter with your own headshots, melee combos and vehicle/rush attacks. Use an Ultimate Attack (+) whenever the combo meter is maxed, to unleash a powerful attack move that deals heavy damage. Restart the checkpoint if you get hit.

  • In chapter 4, on difficulty COMMANDER or greater, defeated Menasor without taking damage.

Menasor is another huge Decepticon, like Devastator, with similar attack patterns. This fight also has 2 phases. During the first phase, he will use several types of attacks on you: He will jump in the air to stomp on you with both feet; if you're close enough he will grab you and slam you into the ground; he can quickly transform into a vehicle and slam into you; and he will strike you with his sword, which has a very long reach. This phase ends when he gets to 50% health, which will also will trigger a checkpoint.

For the second phase of the battle, his sword gets an electric charge, which does more damage than before. He will also create several balls of electricity that continually float toward you. If any of his electric attacks hit you, they will shock and immobilize you for several seconds, leaving you susceptible to further punishment. However, these balls of electricity can be focussed dodged as well. His last new attack involves him creating a tornado that sucks you in and spirals you into the air. While in the tornado, you have no control over your movement direction, but you can still shoot, melee attack, or focus dodge any incoming attacks.

As with Devastator, be aggressive, dodge his attacks with focus, and land your own melee combos, headshots and vehicle attacks. Use an Ultimate Attack (+) whenever the combo meter is maxed, to unleash a powerful attack move that deals heavy damage. Restart the checkpoint if you get hit.

  • In chapter 5, on difficulty COMMANDER or greater, defeated Shockwave without taking damage.

Shockwave is a bit tricky to defeat flawlessly, as he transforms into a laser gun and fires into a mirror that deflects the beam all over the arena. He also duplicates himself into 3 clones. You can tell them apart because Shockwave is purple but the clones are black. As much as possible, prioritize attacking Shockwave with your usual arsenal of headshots, melee combos and vehicle attacks, while also focus dodging his attacks, his clones, and the laser beams. Use an Ultimate Attack (+) whenever the combo meter is maxed, to unleash a powerful attack move that deals heavy damage. Restart the checkpoint if you get hit.

  • In chapter 6, on difficulty COMMANDER or greater, defeated Soundwave without taking damage.

Soundwave is one of the easier bosses, you just need a bit of luck defeating him flawlessly because his smaller cassette minions will be attacking you as well. He will shoot you with his gun, but these sound waves are easy to dodge. He also has a pulse attack that pushes you far away from him, but fortunately this doesn't do any damage, so getting hit by it won't void the trophy. However, these pulse attacks usually open temporary, randomly placed holes in the floor, so be careful not to fall into these, as this will cause damage.

As usual, focus dodge all attacks (be extra vigilant for attacks from his cassettes as well) and counter with your own headshots, melee combos and vehicle/rush attacks. Use an Ultimate Attack (+) whenever the combo meter is maxed, to unleash a powerful attack move that deals heavy damage. Restart the checkpoint if you get hit.

  • In chapter 7, on difficulty COMMANDER or greater, defeated Megatron without taking damage.

The fight against Megatron has 2 phases. The second phase in outer space is always fought with Optimus Prime, regardless of the Autobot you may have been playing with before. You have to complete both phases without getting hit. Some of Megatron's tactics are similar to Blitzwing's, which means his moves are fast and he will attack you even while you are in the middle of combo-ing him, so you ALWAYS have to be prepared to focus dodge.

He will punch, shoot at you, turn into a tank and fire a cannon or try to run you over. Additionally, he will shoot pillars of fire out of the ground in random locations. These do a lot of damage so be careful to avoid/focus dodge them. He sometimes swings an electrified ball at the end of a chain. If this electrified ball hits, you will be shocked and immobilized for several seconds, leaving you susceptible to further punishment. He can also run/charge directly toward you. You cannot shoot him out of this move, and if he gets close he will grab you, choke slam you and drag you a significant distance along the ground. Your best bet against this attack is to focus dodge out of the way. When all his health is depleted, there will be a short QTE sequence. All you have to do is rapidly press  until the QTE is over and you will have successfully completed the first phase, which also triggers a checkpoint.

For the second phase, Megatron will get all his health back. His attack patterns are identical to the first phase, except there are no pillars of fire. When he has lost all his health, there will be another short QTE sequence which you can complete by rapidly pressing  and defeat him once and for all.
