Introduction:

Telltale's The Walking Dead is back with another roller coaster of emotions. Hopefully, you stocked up on some tissues. We're taking a break from all things Clementine to experience a story starring one of the most popular Walking Dead character in any medium: Michonne (voiced by Samira Wiley of "Orange is the New Black" fame). Unlike previous Telltale efforts, this story is told across three episodes as oppose to the usual five. Despite that, don't expect there to be any shortage of feels, Walkers and decapitations. As always, expect you're decisions to affect your story in some fashion.

If you're a reader of the comics, then this series takes place between Issues 126 and 139 so hopefully this game will answer any questions you have.

I've created a step-by-step walkthrough for this so if you choose to go that route then see here: LINK but be warned, you will be spoiled.

FAQ:

Do I need to read the comics or watch the TV show to enjoy this?
No. I, personally, recommend it because they're both great. However, it's not necessary for the enjoyment of the game. It's meant to fill in a gap in the comic's story that was otherwise not present and the Telltale games take place in the comic universe and not the TV universe. You will get some Michonne backstory not mentioned in the comics, and there will be very minor allusions to the comics, but I won't feel they're anything of consequence.

Are The Walking Dead Season 1 and/or 2 necessary to play?
No. You do not need any of the previous games installed to play. The Walking Dead: Michonne is a standalone title.

Do my saves from The Walking Dead Season 1 and 2 transfer over?
No. None of your previous choices transfer over. The Walking Dead: Michonne is a standalone title. The events of this game take place in a different location from where the main series left off.

Will my save file from The Walking Dead: Michonne factor into The Walking Dead Season 3?
No. However, do not rule out the possibility of it affect future seasons and spinoffs. If it does, I will update this post to reflect that.

Walkthrough:

Step 1 (PS3 only) - Technical Issues:

As is the case with most Telltale games as times goes on, the PS3 version is riddled with technical issues. For some, this has resulted in the game being completely unplayable. If that is the case, play an unpatched version of the game. You will have to go back and earn Charred Memory (Episode 3, Chapter 3) once you complete the game, and repatch it.

It's extremely, if not completely, unlikely this and Step 3 will be necessary if you're playing on PS4. If you're on PS4, you only should have to worry about Step 2.

Step 2 - Complete the game:

If you've played some of the more recent Telltale games such as The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones etc. then you know the drill. The game is separated into three episodes each consisting of seven chapters. You will earn a trophy at the end of each chapter and all trophies are story related and cannot be missed.

If you're playing an unpatched version on PS3, you will have everything but Charred Memory. If you managed to complete the game fully patched, you should have 100%. Congrats!

Step 3 (PS3 only) - Charred Memory:

If you're on PS3, and played this unpatched, you should only be missing Charred Memory. Redownload the patch, and load up Episode 3, Chapter 2 through chapter select. From there play through until the end of Chapter 3, and your final trophy should unlock. Platt has created a thread that details the step by step process.

Use the binoculars to see a ferry (the stern won't have anything to see). Go to the side of the boat and use the flashlight, whereby you will discover what the boat is caught on. • Completed Chapter 4 of Episode 2

The Rain, Forest and Walkers are a recipe for trouble. Help keep Sam upright as they make their way to her home but Michonne will need to carry Sam the rest of the way. Kill a few Walkers and proceed to do so. Don't forget to push the forward once Michonne lifts up Sam. That transition is smooth and it took me a few moments to realize I could move, then they'll approach a gate where Michonne will have to convince the gatekeeper to let you in, which isn't a problem with Sam bleeding out.

Once inside, start tending to the wound. Grab the Vodka and use it to sterilize the wound. Use the Aspirator to clear up the blood that's in the way before using the Pliers to remove the bullet. Now cauterize the wound and eventually Sam's dad will appear, speak with him and be the bearer of bad news then the trophy will pop.

Search for evidence to their whereabouts and click on everything you see. Now touch the paint splatter and follow its trail, then check out the broken window with the hand prints. Work your way around the room and check out the blood splatter, the take-away and the picture. Go into the kitchen then pick up the phone and redial. More blood and a knife. Go to the luggage and open it up, then the phone will ring and Michonne will also see a stranger run by the front door. Paige is being attacked by Randall so hit him a few times. Break out of his hold and smash his face in but Pete will help if he's around. Now lock Randall in the Vice Clamp so he won't be going anywhere. Now pop Michonne's shoulder back in place then Norma will call in on the walkie-talkie. If you have Randall answer, then you control when to stop the transmission, though I suggest not letting him talk too much but you can have Michonne talk to Norma if you'd like. Once that's over, Randall will start talking a lot and you can hit him. Sam and her little brother will show up then Paige will see them out but Randall hasn't stopped talking. so you can kill him or let him live, either way the episode will end and the trophy will pop.

  • Completed Chapter 2 of Episode 3

    Story related, can't be missed

See below for a brief summary of the chapter and if you would like to use a walkthrough (with spoilers) then see here: LINK.

How this chapter begins depends on your final choice in Episode 2. If you chose to kill Randall then Paige isn't pleased with your decision and Sam isn't pleased because she isn't the one to kill him. If you let him live then not much changes. Randall's more of a talker. Pete, if he's still at Monroe (Norma's community), will call on the walkie-talkie. Norma has Siddiq, Berto and Oak and wants to trade them for Randall, which will not end well if you killed him. Answer Norma and this will lead into the intro then the trophy will pop.

  • Completed Chapter 3 of Episode 3

    Story related, can't be missed

Warning: The trophy will not unlock in unpatched versions of the game. Only reason you'd need to play an unpatched version of the game is if the game is in an unplayable state. This may be necessary if you're playing the PS3 version of the game as newer Telltale games tend to perform horribly on PS3. If you did play an unpatched version of the game, and only have this remaining, repatch the game and chapter select Episode 3, Chapter 2 and play though both Chapter 2 and 3. The trophy should unlock after Chapter 3. Credit to Platt.

See below for a brief summary of the chapter and if you would like to use a walkthrough (with spoilers) then see here: LINK.

With Randall tied up with a bag over his head, it's time to consider your strategy. Sam decides that now is a good time to bury her father but doesn't want to leave behind her home nor her family. You can help her carry her father to the grave site or stop her. After the burial, Sam will tell Michonne where the weapon stash is to defend her home and the trophy will pop once she enters the house.

  • Completed Chapter 4 of Episode 3

    Story related, can't be missed

See below for a brief summary of the chapter and if you would like to use a walkthrough (with spoilers) then see here: LINK.

Walk toward James (Sam's brother) who has a gun and wants to help you load the rest of them so let him if you want to and chat with him. You can let him keep the gun or give it to Sam and will need to pass out ammo to whoever doesn't have a gun. Pete is in the room to the left. Sam is outside. Paige is upstairs. You can skip Sam if you want to save time as Michonne will hand her a gun no matter what and still be free to investigate the house. Head upstairs then the hallucinations will intensify so run down the creepy hallway and open the door, it's a closet where Alex (Sam's other brother) is hiding. Chat with him and you can tell him what happened to his dad. Head to the other room and give Paige some ammo. Talk to Paige. She's leaving. You can go to John's room and read his wife's suicide note if you're feeling nosy.

As Michonne leaves the house, Sam walks in and wants Alex to join in the funeral service so point her in the right direction. Proceed with the funeral service. Michonne will leave them be and chat with Paige (or Pete). Paige stays. Norma arrives. The trophy will pop once Michonne tells Sam to grab Randall and take him outside.

  • Completed Chapter 5 of Episode 3

    Story related, can't be missed

See below for a brief summary of the chapter and if you would like to use a walkthrough (with spoilers) then see here: LINK.

Open the gate and it's just Norma (Pete will be with her if he stayed behind). She just wants to talk while the rest of her group hangs back and will let Pete go if he isn't already with you. Norma will signal her group (and, unintentionally, the Walkers) by firing a flare then the rest of Michonne's ship crew is brought in and Norma will demand to see her brother. Siddiq is released but Norma threatens to shoot Oak. You can call her bluff, release Randall or hurt Randall. Releasing Randall is the only way for Oak to survive. Gabby (member of Norma's group) doesn't like how this is going and shoots Berto in the head. Walkers show up. Next thing you know, everyone is shooting everything. The trophy will pop once Michonne starts closing the gate.

  • Completed Chapter 6 of Episode 3

    Story related, can't be missed

See below for a brief summary of the chapter and if you would like to use a walkthrough (with spoilers) then see here: LINK.

Tap the prompt to completely close the gate, then head to cover. Now kill the two people you see and the Walker. Michonne has the gun shot out of her hand then follow the prompts to fight Norma. Zachary, if you had Michonne stop Sam from killing him, will try to help. Afterwards, you can either end Norma's suffering or leave her to die. Once inside, block the door in hope no one gets in and shoot the guy throwing the Molotov but the house will start to burn regardless.

Michonne will hallucinate again so crawl when prompted and when Michonne stands up, hit the prompts to remove the blockages then open the door and crawl some more. Now hit the prompt to kill the walker then head up the stairs, open the door and plead with her hallucination. Michonne will be thrust back to reality where Sam's brothers need saving, they're trapped in the closet. Once rescued, Michonne, Sam and the brothers will try to leave through the window in Greg's room. The house doesn't have long left and Michonne will be faced with a tough decision with a heartbreaking consequence if one of the two choices gets picked. The fall from the window will knock Michonne out. The trophy will pop right after that.

  • Completed Episode 3

    Story related, can't be missed

See below for a brief summary of the chapter and if you would like to use a walkthrough (with spoilers) then see here: LINK.

Michonne and the other will reach the edge of the river. Talk to Pete. The Episode will end not long after that conversation ends and the trophy will pop after the fade to black and your decisions are displayed.
