For emergencies only Trophy in The Last of Us Remastered

  • For emergencies only

    Fully upgrade all weapons

How to unlock For emergencies only

You’re introduced to workbenches pretty early in the game. These are dotted throughout each chapter and can be used to upgrade your weapons using parts. Work benches are the only time you will be able to upgrade your weapons. Upgrade parts can be found just pretty much anywhere and everywhere in this game, coming in increments of 1's, 5's, 10's, 25's, and 50's. Salvageable or upgrade parts appear as in the game. You will need a total of 2,510 parts to get all of the upgrades.

As with supplements, to completely max out all your weapons you will need to at least venture into a New Game+, which you should be doing anyway for the New Game+ completion trophies. If you are thorough enough in your exploring and looting, you should be able to wrap this up sometime during the later half of your second playthrough. If not, you will have to go into a third and play until you get enough parts. As a result of this you might want to leave some of the early weapons until last (eg. 9mm, Revolver etc.) so that you don't have to wait till later in the game to get other weapons before finishing them (Thanks diagnonsense for pointing this out).

Keep in mind however that even if you have enough parts to upgrade a weapon, a lot of the upgrades will require various tool kit levels. As you may have noticed in the upgrade menu, some upgrades have a requirement; these are the tool kits required. Although tool kits are somewhat a collectible in the game and must be picked up in order to unlock the next tier of unlocks for you, they appear in locations that are relatively hard to miss. The max tool kit level is 5 but there are more than 5 tool kits to find in case you do miss some. These do carry over to New Game+ so you won’t have to pick them up again.

  • What's the easiest way to get this trophy. Play easy/easy plus and just save all the parts till easy plus?
  • Yes to above, but make sure you leave the pistols last to be upgraded, I got real unlucky and after my grounded plus run I ended up one upgrade missing in the shotgun, imma have to play to bills town to finish the upgrades.
  • Oh I played easy, then grounded plus. You can do it in these two playthroughs, I was only 12 parts short and missed the last 3/4 shiv doors.
  • I played normal then grounded plus. I have not completed grounded plus yet. I haven't upgraded the pistol at all, so that if I don't get enough parts, I will be able to upgrade it quickly in a third play through. Regarding shivs, as soon as you get to Bill's town, and you get a pipe from the roof of a building, Ellie will then jump over a gate blocked with another pipe. At this point you need to have materials for one shiv. Create an upgraded melee weapon with any of the two pipes, then swap twice. You'll notice that again you have parts for one shiv. Now create the shiv, and repeat the process until you have 3 shivs plus one set of parts. This will give you unlimited shivs throughout the game so you can open all the doors. If you craft a shiv with your last set, you cannot use i
  • If you craft a shiv with your last set, you cannot use it for an upgraded melee weapon which allows you to farm more shiv parts. You can farm shivs whenever you encounter any two melee weapons you can swap.
  • i dont get it dose my upgraded weapon stack up in new game plus?!
  • Crap, crap, crap... on my Survival+ playthrough... I have to upgrade some of the later weapons. Is it IMPOSSIBLE to complete this via chapter select? I have to start a 3rd playthrough and play up until I get said weapon to upgrade it? Love the game but damn ND simply made it a grinder for these trophies. UC games were always enjoyable to play 2/3 times and get challenges. I don't want to run through this game a 3rd time just for a weapon upgrade.
  • Yeah this is my only singleplayer trophy left. I've completed the game 3 times and still need a few more upgrades...
  • I was able to get this trophy in my 2nd play through, and I had 104 parts to spare when I reached the bus depot. Unlock all shiv doors and all safes for a ton of parts. I did use a text guide which explained where the parts were http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps3/652686-the-last-of-us/faqs/67221#section1
  • I'm about to start my 3rd play through to get this!! Only advice I can give which I don't think has been mentioned here yet is to play it through on Easy + (that's if you've already unlocked Survivor +) and the terrain is substantially more forgiving as far as loot is concerned and you should be to easily upgrade everything by the time you get the flame thrower.
  • Hi finished this game on easy and I am about to finish it on grounded + but I am 20 parts short of the last upgrade for the hunting rifle. Raging I didnt leave one of the pistols until last but there you go. Once I complete Grounded + can I run through the game at Easy + on the same save file and keep al my tools and weapon upgrades?
  • I got this one on my easy NG+, in the last workbench right before the penultimate shiv door. Got really lucky, had only 5 parts to spare. Don't underestimate this trophy, and do make a habit of searching for every piece that you can find.
  • Don't know if anyone has pointed this out yet but as long as you get every part in the game and upgrade your weapons in reverse order from when you get them, the earliest you can fully upgrade everything (on your second play through) is at the workbench in the garage in chapter 6 suburbs. That's when I just got it on Grounded+ having followed a guide for the parts.

  • Chapter select wont work. Just finished ng+ with 48 parts and two 50 upgrades left. Luckily it was the bow. Will sort that out tomorrow.
  • So how do I get this trophy? Do I play for example easy, then easy plus and easy plus again? Im confused.
  • Just finished my 2nd play through and just shy of 1 weapon left to upgrade so will do this now on my grounded play through
