The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker ~ Platinum Walkthrough + All Characters Green

The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker is a FMV (full motion video) murder mystery video game. You play as a psychiatrist who's trying to solve the murder of Doctor Dekker and you do this by questioning the patients who are also the suspects. The game comes with randomly generated questions and gives you full control to type and ask your very own questions. If the question is suitable, it can be answered and you will receive a response back from that patient. The game comes with multiple endings so the murder will always be random for everyone.

Trophy-wise, the Platinum is very easy to obtain if you're following a walkthrough that contains nearly all the possible questions that you can ask the patients in this game. It is true that the questions can randomly be generated and the murder will be different for everyone. This isn't that huge of a difference at all. You might notice 2-3 questions being different for you in a certain section of the walkthrough but this is normal. And you can easily pick the new questions that you have and go back to using the walkthrough. There is even a method of discovered what question you need to type with 's keyboard. All that is explained within the Walkthrough.

There are some missable trophies in the list but using the walkthrough will help you unlock them with ease. You only need to be concerned about playing over 8 hours and answering 1,000 questions, because those two trophies need to be done in one single playthrough. The 400 insanity trophy will unlock for you just by following along with the walkthrough. Different questions due to having a different murder or evidence won't influence your insanity points so there's nothing to worry about regarding the Youthulhu trophy unlocking.

Other than that, I highly recommend people who are using this Trophy Guide to use the Walkthrough. It doesn't contain any spoilers as it's just questions you select and type with the keyboard menu. It will still take you a few hours to get through all those questions but it's better to have the answers provided to you rather than spending time figuring it out by yourself.

Note on Glitchy Trophies: I know that seeing glitchy trophies might cause some people to worry but there's absolutely nothing to worry about, because the glitch will only happen if you don't make a backup save near the end of the game before accusing someone. When you accuse someone or if your game crashes during this ending cutscene, there's a chance the parser will break and make it so the glitched trophies won't unlock for you on that save file anymore (even if you picked the correct murder on the first try). The only way to ensure that you get another chance is to re-download the save you made beforehand and then select the murder again. Your trophies should unlock as intended and the walkthrough warns you make to a save near the end of the guide. The developer wasn't originally aware of this issue so it might be patched in the future. The current patch is 1.01 so if a new one is released, please inform me and I will update the guide to the current patch version.

Game Breaking Bug: The game can potentially crash on you at random. When this happens, there's a chance it might have corrupted your save file. If your save file gets corrupted, you will be forced to start a new playthrough. The only way to prevent this is by making frequent backups to either the PS+ Save File Cloud or a USB Drive. If you wish to read how this was discovered, see here: LINK

Button Layout:

  • - Questions
  • - History & Responses
  • - Notes
  • - Hints (Never use this or it will void Hintless Wonder !)
  • - Keyobard
  • - Evidence

    • * Next Day only appears after making all characters at least YELLOW. The Walkthrough makes them all GREEN before using this option.
    • ** Only appears at the very end of the game.

Step 1: Use the Walkthrough and complete the game by solving who murdered Doctor Dekker without using any hints

This is pretty much the only step you're doing for the whole game. Don't press the button at all for hints, because it will void the Hintless Wonder trophy. The only way to prevent this even if you pressed hints by mistake is to re-download a backup save you made via the PS+ Save File Cloud or a USB Flash Drive. It's highly recommended that you make backup saves while playing as the game can crash and corrupt your save file. If your save file gets corrupted, you will need to start a new playthrough all over again. Be sure to play over 8 hours for the Late Shift trophy to unlock and ask over 1,000+ questions for the Inquisitive trophy.

Near the end of the game, make a backup save so that you have a save file you can re-download just encase your trophies glitched at the end of the walkthrough. Pick the correct murder on the first guess and if you followed the walkthrough correctly without using the button for hints. You will unlock your remaining trophies as well as the Platinum Trophy at the main menu of the game.

Step 2: Cleanup

This is an optional step if you've missed any trophies. There is no chapter select so you will have to play through the entire game again until you get whatever you have missed.

  • One thousand questions asked!

    MISSABLE

This trophy is missable. You should be around 900 questions when you reach Act Five: Insanity, Please. If you're using the Walkthrough, you will be given warning to unlock this trophy on that act. You can press and ask the patients anything and it will still count towards the 1,000 questions asked. Just keep this trophy in mind while playing. If you wish to check how many questions you've asked, return to the main menu, select 'STATS' and you will see 'Searches Made' near the top of the screen. This is the current number of questions that you have asked altogether.

  • Five hundred responses revealed!

Please see Inquisitive for more information.

  • Eight hours played.

    MISSABLE

This trophy must be done in 1 playthrough as starting a new game will not carry over your playthrough time. If you're following the Walkthrough and are using the DS4 Controller, then this might unlock naturally for you. The estimated time to obtain the Platinum is about 11-15 hours with a normal PS4 controller but if you're using a Keyboard and have excellent typing speed, you will finish in under 8hrs and void the trophy.

It is highly recommended that you let the game idle a bit until you've unlocked the trophy. People who decide to use a keyboard should expect to obtain the Platinum in about 8-10 hours. The walkthrough will give you a warning on Act Five: Insanity, Please. It should also be noted that you cannot see or check your time played.

  • Four hundred insanity points reached.

    HIGHLY MISSABLE

This trophy is considered highly missable as it requires a full playthrough of the game and you need to select questions that leads to more scenes/responds/questions being given and answered. Additionally, you're required to type a few questions to discover more scenes/questions/responds. Therefore, I have titled my Platinum Walkthrough with + All Characters Green. To make a character GREEN, it means you have gotten all the responses and questions out of that patient so there is nothing to ask them anymore, which helps ensure you reach 400 insanity points near the end of the game. It is hard to get on your own without using the Walkthrough provided to you. The trophy will unlock in Act Five: Insanity, Please. It should be noted that you cannot see how much points you have.

  • Solved Doctor Dekker's murder.

    GLITCHY

    Story related, cannot be missed.

This will unlock by completing the game and discovering who murdered Doctor Dekker. The killer is random as not everyone will have the same person. For more information about that, please see Lucky Guess.

  • Solved Doctor Dekker's murder without accusing any innocent people.

    MISSABLE and GLITCHY

This trophy is for correctly guessing who the murdered Doctor Dekker. Everyone will have a different killer. Even using my Walkthrough, the killer will be different. With 6 different killers, it means about 2-3 questions might be different for you as you're following along with the Walkthrough. You might also get new evidence not mentioned in the Walkthrough but these things won't influence your playthrough as they are very small. Pick everything you see in your Questions menu and if you need to press to type a question out. You can find that question by looking at your comments and checking the scenes with the * or ** next to them. If you are really struggling to figure out the question that you need to type and it's a new one not mentioned in the Walkthrough. You can do the following:

    • Backup your save before doing this!
    • Once you backed up your save, reboot the game, select Continue then press to use the Hints and you will see or get an idea of a question to ask the patient.
    • Now simply write down what you see but change it slightly to make it work. For example, if a hint reads "Maybe She Should Stop Dancing?". All you need to do is change 'she' into 'you', making it read "Maybe You Should Stop Dancing?".
    • When you have the right question, close the game and re-download the backup you made earlier. This will undo the Hint you've used and revert the game back to its previous state. Enter the question and you should be good to go again.

Eventually, you will be near the end of the game and the Walkthrough will give you a final warning to make a backup save before accusing someone. This will prevent you from replaying the entire game again. You have a 1/6 chance of correctly picking the killer first time but making a save file backup means you won't miss this trophy. You can pick them all and then when you find the killer, re-download that save and pick them right away. Remember, everyone's killers will be different.

Once you have correctly guessed on the first try or by reloading a save file to pick the correct person, you will see the innocent patients talking as the game reaches the conclusion. This will end up unlocking your remaining trophies and if you didn't use Hints at all (the button), then you will also unlock those trophies too.

  • You made Nathan sing a song.

    MISSABLE

This trophy is missable and it's only obtainable during Act Five: Insanity, Please. It's a question that must be type, which is the following:

    • Didn't You Tell Me In Our First Session That You Couldn't Time Travel?

Typing that question with the 's keyboard menu will unlock the trophy.

  • Zero hints, and you absolutely didn't cheat at all.

    MISSABLE and GLITCHY

This trophy is for not using hints at all. Using one single hint with the button will void this trophy from unlocking! You can disable hints in the options but I played the game with default settings as I am not sure if disabling hints will affect your insanity points. I have gotten mixed responses from this and those people didn't get their Youthulhu trophy. Not pressing is quite easy especially if you played a few Point and Click games that had that exact same requirement.

I do recommend backing up your save files every now and then to prevent mistakes from happening. My Walkthrough recommends making backups regularly, to prevent a game breaking bug from happening. You can read up on this bug here: LINK.

The trophy will only unlock when you've found the killer and will be among the trophies that autopops along with the at the end of the Walkthrough. It should be noted that you can check to see if you used a hint or not by going to the main menu, 'STATS' and looking at 'Hints Used' found at the bottom of the screen. Providing that number remains at 0, you will unlock this trophy.
