Introduction:

The Hungry Horde is an arcade-style game that put you in control of a couple of crazy zombies. As you traverse different areas, you will be devouring humans to join your horde, fighting off tanks and helicopters, collecting brains to unleash an small array of abilities on your unsuspecting prey, playing silly minigames and racing against the clock to cross checkpoints before a nuclear bomb is dropped on the town. Munch on, zombie!

Walkthrough:

Step 1 - Playing the Main Game for Stickers and Easy Misc. Trophies

In this step, the most important thing is trying to progress through multiple nights while racking up kills and maxing out minigames. Doing this gives you sticker packs. Crossing checkpoints, completing minigames and eating humans all add time to the countdown so keep this in mind. Also, don’t go far out of the way to attack humans or grab brains. The goal is to fill the entire Stickerbook.

It also would be beneficial to attempt some of the easier trophies while collecting stickers and some other trophies should unlock along the way. During this step, you should earn:

mmm...brains
Gotta' get em all
Tick tick tick boom
Not the boss of me!
Lucky For Some
Got. Got. Need.
Mapmatician
I've always got time to play
50 shades of green
Got, Got, Got, Gah!
Fiddler
Lazy Developer

Step 2 - Minigames Trophies and Extras

In this step, you will be playing all the minigames for the trophies to get those out of the way and visiting all the extras. The standalone versions of the minigames should be unlocked since you completed the Stickerbook as advised above. During this step, you should unlock:

Look mom! I'm famous
Ready for Gorefare
Coconut dodge
Clocked it!
PARTAAAAY!
Still Alive
Velocity 2X
Hardcore!
Pandemic
Supervirus
Friday, Saturday and Sunday Night Fever
I'm a Zombie. Get me out of here!
That's what happens when you ruin my vacation!
What Gordon says, goes!
Gameception
Credit where it's due!
Super Developer Trophy

Step 3 - Grinding and Cleanup

The last trophies you should have left, deal with with grinding. You may have unlocked a couple of these earlier, depending on how much time you've played. Prepare yourself because this step requires a large amount of time to complete. Since you knocked out a majority of the trophy list by now, focusing on grinding and objectives should come easier. During this step, you should complete:

Who wins in a fight between plants and zombies?
Livin' On A Prayer
Global Outbreak
30 Down 120 to go
60 Down 90 to go
Prestigious
This is madness!
I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
CHUUUUUNE!
Doctor's Orders
Born again victim
Diploma!
Platinum Horde

DLC: Holiday Hijinx

Overview:

  • Estimated trophy difficulty: TBA (Personal opinion: 4/10)
  • Offline trophies: 10 (7, 3)
  • Online trophies: 0
  • Approximate amount of time to 100%: 3-5+ hours (depending on luck)
  • Minimum number of playthroughs: 1 playthrough in the main game (must be very lucky though) and 7 runs on the Holiday Hijinx standalone minigame.
  • Number of missable trophies: 0
  • Glitched trophies: Maybe Tinsel Town
  • Does difficulty affect trophies?: N/A
  • Do trophies stack?: N/A
  • Do cheat codes disable trophies?: No cheat codes available

Introduction:
What better way to celebrate the holidays than with zombies? The Holiday Hijinx DLC adds to the game two levels (Snowburbs and Snowlake), a minigame and new characters to hunt.
If you have already finished the core game, most of the trophies shouldn't cause any trouble. The main issue will be the ones tied to the two new snow levels, especially Jack Frost, since their spawn rate is pretty low.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Main Game
If you are used to the game, 5+ days/nights runs should be easy to do. Therefore, you just need to focus on maxing out minigames and discovering the new levels layout. During this step, you should earn:

Snow Joke
From dusk 'til dawn of the dead
Casually Hardcore
Santa's Sleigher

Step 2: Holiday Hijinx Minigame
In this step, you will focus on the new minigame, Holiday Hijinx. The standalone version is available as soon as the DLC is installed, so you can work on its related trophies right from the start if you want. During this step, you should earn:

Caught Peeking
On the Naughty List
Tinsel Town

Step 3: Cleanup
Due to the low spawn rate of the elves and the snow levels, the last trophies will take some time (and a lot of luck for Jack Frost) to unlock. During this step, you should earn:

Jack Frost
Elf and safety
Jingle Balls

The Hungry Horde Trophy Guide

Show secret trophies

53 trophies ( 39  7  )

  • Get all the other trophies

Unlock all other "The Hungry Horde" trophies to obtain the Platinum.

  • Use the character creator to make a custom character

The "Character Creator" option is unlocked by collected the special silver sticker with the man and woman on it. Once unlocked, enter the Creator from the "Extras" Menu, select a preset male or female and draw something on their face. The trophy will then unlock.

  • This trophy is accumulative. Flower patches are the small white clusters found in grassy areas, just walk over every flower patch you see until the trophy pops. Your progress can be seen under "Statistics" in the options menu

  • Fully upgrade all weapons in Zombat

Zombat must be unlocked by obtaining the special silver sticker of the Solid Snake look-alike for the Zombat page in the Stickerbook. This trophy cannot be obtained during the in-game Zombat so you must access the standalone Zombat under "Minigames" on the Main Menu.

Weapons are upgraded at the Gun Armory and money is dropped by the zombies. Collect the coins and diamonds they drop. The best weapon to buy and upgrade first is the minigun since it is the most effective at mowing down zombies and it carries the most ammo.

  • Recruit your first zombie

    See Global Outbreak for details.

  • Recruit your 5000th zombie

    See Global Outbreak for details.

  • Recruit your 10000th zombie

You recruit zombies by simply killing humans and after recruiting your 10000th human, this trophy will pop. Your progress can be seen under "Statistics" in the Options menu.

  • Fill the Stickerbook

Sticker Packs are obtained by maxing out the in-game minigames, killing humans and surviving nights. The Sticker Packs contain three stickers each and are randomly generated, you will run into duplicates so continue earning packs until you have found every sticker.

  • Get to 2 minutes on Pacifist Island without collecting a single coconut.

Pacifist Island is a minigame where you play as a zombie on an island constantly being swarmed by soldiers with turrets and tanks, this must be attempted on the standalone version and might take a little practice since you aren't allowed to pick up the power-ups. Just bob and weave through all the bullets, avoid getting close to tanks and turrets and getting cornered.

  • Complete 30 objectives

    See Prestigious for details.

  • Complete 60 objectives

    See Prestigious for details.

  • Complete all 150 objectives

While playing the main game, 3 objectives are given at the beginning of each start. These objectives can range from collecting and destroying objects to surviving long periods of time to recruiting certain characters. Each time you complete an objective, a new one appears, allowing you to tackle multiple in one playthrough. If there's an objective that you don’t want to do right away, changing the date on your Vita and restarting the main game changes all objectives that have not been started.

My best advice is to focus on nothing but the objectives after completing the Stickerbook and the minigame trophies. Since you don't have to waste time playing minigames and worrying about stickers, avoid them unless a challenge requires you finish them.

The worst challenges to complete are the ones dealing with the FBI agents due to their extremely low spawn rate. There will be a street area, where you have to break a makeshift barrier down to enter, with a gas station (called RIP) on the right and a store (called Tom Mart 2) on the left end of the street. At the very end of that left-hand store, there is a green arcade machine. Walk up to it to trigger FBI agents cars with 3-8 agents in them.

  • Beat all rounds of Infection

Infection is the minigame where you play as a virus and the goal is to infect as many red cells as possible within the time limit, avoid the white cells trying to take you out and collect the little green mutagens to gain power-ups. The Infection minigame is unlocked by obtained the special silver sticker with the green virus on it. There are seven rounds of Infection and each round either adds a white cell, increases/decreases the stage size, reduces the time limit or amount of red cells available.

It is best to use the "Paralyze" ability in the first four rounds because the white cells have a tendency to bolt at you off-screen and the view isn’t wide enough for you to see them coming, leaving a small window to react. There are on-screen warnings around the edges but they prove to be more distracting than helpful. Moving in circles once the cells start chase you helps since they're slow at making turns. Keep in mind to not let the white meter under "Paralyze" drain completely or it will reset back to "Boost" and have you collect mutagens again until you reach your powerup.

For the last three stages, the "Attract" ability will be your best friend since the stages are larger, the cells are more spread out and the time limits are reduced. Attract will send all red cells flying at you, making for a speedy collection. Once again, keep in mind to not let the meter drain.

  • Make a conga line at least 25 zombies long and keep dancing for 90 seconds

Conga Zombies is unlocked by collecting the special silver sticker with the dancing white suit zombie on it. This can be obtained within the main game or in the standalone. One zombie will be added to the conga line for each human you collide with. The game will get faster as time goes by and you gain a bigger line, causing the dance floor to get more crowded.

Best thing is to make paths like the one below in order reduce space taken by your line. I apologize for the horrid drawing I made.

  • Kill 300 humans with grab

The "Grab" ability is gained by collecting yellow brains, simply use the "Grab" ability on decent-sized groups of humans and you will unlock this trophy. Progress can be seen under "Statistics" in the Options menu.

  • Keep the air-raid siren going for at least 40 seconds

The air-raid siren starts when you only have 20.0 seconds left to reach a checkpoint. Eating a person gains you 1.5 seconds on the clock. You have to find and eat 14 humans while staying below the 20.0 second mark in order to earn this trophy. Running through some checkpoints give you 8 extra seconds but others give you more doing that can be a gamble. The trophy will unlock after the alarm has continuously sounded for 40 seconds.

  • Beat the tank 3 times in a single play

The tank is one of the two bosses you will encounter at the end of a night, if you survived until the end. If the tank is the first boss you fight, you have to beat Nights 1, 3 and 5. If the tank is encountered on the second night, you have to beat Nights 2, 4 and 6.

The tank is defeated by unleashing the giant zombie football players in cages at it, the giant locks on the cages are opened by swiping your finger across it so do it a couple times to be sure. If you have shields then you can also run the tank into the wall by pushing with a shield. This method brings down its health faster but can be risky since the tank kills your zombies on contact after the shield drops. Have multiples ready if you want to do this.

  • Stay alive for at least 3:33 in cabinet view on Zombat

Must be done in the standalone version of Zombat. Before starting the game, press to enter cabinet view. Keep the Vita still while in cabinet view or the screen will shift.

This can be easily obtained by standing in front of the Gun Armory, directly in the middle of the two sandbag barriers. You will have to shoot some spawning zombies that step in front of you but the others should start piling up on the opposite sides of the armory and the barriers. Once they do, do not shoot them. Let them continue running against barriers. The pink "Caution" symbols will appear by you but don't move. Those zombies will spawn with the rest of the stuck horde so just stand here for 3 minutes and 33 seconds and your trophy should pop.

  • Pass 500 checkpoints

See And I Would Walk 500 more for details.

  • Pass 1000 checkpoints

This trophy is accumulative. Walking through checkpoints grants you the extra time needed to progress further within each night so they're unavoidable. Simply continue to play until this trophy pops. Progress can be seen under "Statistics" in the Options menu.

  • Keep running for at least 15 seconds in Pacifist Island

It's best to attempt this in the standalone version of Pacifist Island. The green coconuts given you 0.5 seconds of boost. Just collect the boost coconuts until you have 15 seconds worth and hold down while avoid enemies. The trophy will pop after you've reaching 15 seconds of continuous running.

  • Beat the first three rounds of Infection without using any powerups.

Beating the first three rounds without power-ups can be a bit irritating, especially since the white cells love to sneaking up on you. Making circles while the white cells are trying to catch you helps make these rounds easier since the white cells are horrible at making turns, just survive until the beginning of Round 4 to unlock.

  • Infect 10000 red cells in infection

Collecting red cells is the main objective of Infection, just continue replaying Infection, surviving for as long as you can until this pops. Progress can be seen under "Statistics" in the Options menu.

  • Collect 5000 mutagens

This is the same as Pandemic. Continue playing Infection, collecting as many mutagens as possible while surviving as long as you can. Replay Infection until this pops. Progress can be seen under "Statistics" in the Options menu.

  • You're the life and soul of the party.

Play Conga Zombies on Friday, Saturday and Sunday after 8PM GMT when connected to Wi-Fi and it does not have to be consecutive. The date and time on the Vita can be changed but it is advised that you do so in Flight Mode.

  • Kill 13 humans with a single grab

Best area to obtain this trophy is when you get to the army base looking area with soldiers and helicopters to your right, a convoy dropping off soldiers to your left and a gate with people and a bouncing minigame present behind it. Stand between all three groups and press to initiate Grab (if you have one available). You should snag 13 or more enemies and the trophy will pop.

  • Fill 50% of the stickerbook

See Gotta' get em all for details.

  • Use the ghetto blaster 200 times

The ghetto blaster is the radio the zombies pull out when you use the "Stun" ability, just collect the red brains to fill up the Stun power and use 200 times. Progress can be seen under "Statistics" in the Options menu.

  • Take once a day for a week

Play "The Hungry Horde" for 7 consecutive days. Alternatively, you can put your Vita in Flight Mode, manually change the date and start the main game. Just quit after starting and close the application. Change to the next date, start "The Hungry Horde" and play the main game. Quit and close the application. Rinse and repeat until the trophy pops.

  • Survive 180 seconds on Pacifist Island

Live for 3 minutes while playing Pacifist Island. Power-ups are allowed for this trophy so it shouldn't be very difficult but it must be done on the standalone version of Pacifist Island.

  • Kill 4 attackers with a single, well placed mine in Pacifist Island

On Pacifist Island, the pinkish-purple coconuts will grant you one mine. Mines can be placed with and remotely detonated using as well. The soldiers have a tendency to follow you a bit so this to your advantage. Place a mine in the middle of the island and wait until more enemies start flooding in. Lure the soldiers into the mines and when you have enough it, detonate it and the trophy will pop. This also works with the tanks so you can destroy those along with the soldiers if needed. Either version of Pacifist Island is fine.

  • Beat level 15 in a game of Gordon

Gordon is the Simon Says machine located under "SFX Player" in the Extras Menu. Keep a piece of paper and pen next to you and write down the buttons that Gordon play. They light up and make noise so that helps. Just play until Round 15 comes around and ace it for the trophy.

  • Kill Ruben Rainbow 99 times

Ruben Rainbow is a hippie with a rainbow colored headband. The funky headband is the easiest way to spot him. He is an uncommon human, meaning he's not very hard to find but finding him requires a bit of effort. However, don’t waste your time looking for him. He's just appears in random groups of humans so this is a trophy that comes naturally while going for the platinum.

If you feel like going after him, there is an area with a outdoor concert stage to the left as soon as you exit a parking lot full of cars and a drive-in movie screen, where a bunch of people are standing in front of it. Within this group, 2 to 3 Ruben Rainbows can be found here each time. Progress can be seen under "Character Viewer" in the Extras menu.

  • Eat 11111 Brains

Brains are the source of your horde's powers so you will be collecting them often, just collect 11111 of them to unlock. Progress can be seen under "Statistics" in the Options menu.

  • See every area in the game

The areas in the game change after every checkpoint. The game also changes every day so you will either unlock this by the time you reach the end of the third night or naturally by play the game on a daily basis.

NOTE: Because of the new patch, this trophy has been glitched. The best strategy is to go offline, delete the latest patch and unlock this trophy on Version 1.00 and then update the patch again.

  • In a single playthrough, play each of the spawned minigames at least once.

The giant white, bouncing presents in the main game represent a in-game minigame. Simply walk up to one to start. You must encounter all 5 minigames in one play to unlock.

    Cryo Crisis
    Zombat
    Pacifist Island
    Conga Zombies
    Infection
    Holiday Hijinx

After playing the last minigame, you will have your trophy.

NOTE: Since the release of the DLC, players have reported that this trophy will not unlock until you have played the new DLC minigame.

  • Unlock every zombie character sticker

See Gotta' get em all for details.

  • Get the exact same sticker 3 times

The more full your Stickerbook gets, the more you will run into duplicates. The stickers in a pack are randomly generated so you run into this trophy while trying to obtain the stickers you need.

Secret trophies

  • Impatience is a virtue

The game brings up a black loading screen with a giant floppy disk, a layout of the Vita controls, and tips at the bottom. If you place your finger on the floppy disk and start sliding it around on your screen, the floppy disk will spin in different directions. Just keep doing this and the trophy will unlock once the loading is finished.

  • Play the game, in a game, in a game

In the standalone version of Zombat, inside the Gun Armory, there is an upgrade labelled "???" for $2000. Buy this upgrade and you will experience a game of Brick Breaker. The trophy pops once Brick Breaker is played.

  • Play the game on Credits Island

Credits Island is unlocked by obtaining the special silver sticker with one of the developer on it. This sticker will be placed in the very back of the Stickerbook. Once Credits Island is unlocked, go to it using the Extras menu. While the credits are playing, move the sticks then you will move from in front of a television and be on an island with the developers. Simply go to the arcade machine inside the island bar and play it. The trophy will unlock then.

NOTE: Since the release of the DLC, players have reported that this trophy will not unlock until you have played the standalone version of new DLC minigame.

  • err... you played the game... WELL DONE!!!

Simply obtained by playing the game, it will pop after playing for a bit.

DLC: Holiday Hijinx

10 trophies

  • Destroy 15 snowmen in a single run

This is the hardest trophy of the DLC. You will find snowmen in the snow levels. There are 8 snowmen scattered all over Snowlake and 6 in Suburbs. You destroy snowmen just by pushing your horde through them.

You will need a lot of luck to unlock this trophy since you need to destroy 15 of these in the same run, meaning you will probably need to find 3 levels. Due to their low spawning rate, I suggest you to restart your run if you don't find any snow level by the end of Day 1 or Night 2.

  • Get a combo of at least 6 on Holiday Hijinx

Holiday Hijinx is the new minigame added with this DLC. It's a memory game where you play as zombie Santa and you need to find his zombie elves. They will be shown with a number on them among bombs for a few seconds before the start of every round.

When the round starts, the elves and bombs will be covered by gift boxes and you need to find the elves. Find them all and you go to the next round with more elves to find and more bombs. Touch a bomb or let the time run out and it's game over.

A combo is when you find the elves in the right order (i.e. Elf 1 then Elf 2, etc.). To unlock this trophy, you will thus need a round with at least 6 elves and find them in the correct order. You will be able to do so starting from round 5.

Important Tip: This minigame can be exploited with the screenshot feature of the Vita. When you are being shown the elves and bombs location, take a screenshot (by pressing the and buttons at the same time). You can then check the answer in the 'Photos' app of the Vita when the round is going on.

Note: This can be obtained within the main game or in the standalone version.

  • Got to round 8 of Holiday Hijinx. You didn't cheat did you?

Since you do not need any combo to reach round 8; you just need to remember where the elves are and complete round 7 to unlock this trophy.

If you are having any trouble, feel free to use the tip mentioned in Caught Peeking.

Note: This can be obtained within the main game or in the standalone version.

  • Survive 5 days and nights

The trophy description can be misleading. The main game alternates between days and nights (i.e. Night 1 then Day 2, etc.), so just need to complete Night 5 to unlock this trophy.

  • Kill 99 elves

Elves are new characters added in the main game with this DLC. They are like any other human you can eat and appear with a very low rate in normal levels, as fleeing NPCs. You can find them more easily in snow levels along with Santa, as fighting NPCs with guns.

You need to kill 99 elves to unlock this trophy. Due to the low spawn rate, this will be one of the last trophies you will need in this DLC.

Note: You can check the spoiler in Santa's Sleigher to see what the elves look like.

  • Push 10 snowballs

You will find snowballs in the snow levels. You just need to move your horde against a snowball to push it. However, the trophy didn't pop after just pushing the 10th snowball for me. To be sure, push them all the way until they break.

Note: You can check Snow Joke to see snowball locations.

  • Max out each minigame at least once

This has to be done in the main game. You will find minigames in big floating gift boxes scattered around the levels. You get prizes based on how far you're into a minigame (time, kill count, a grab powerup and finally a sticker pack). You have maxed out a minigame if you managed to get the sticker pack prize.

I will list the score or time requirement to max out minigames (listed in the same order as the standalone list) and a tip to do so:

    • Conga Zombies - 33 Zombies
Use the pattern mentioned in the core trophy guide for PARTAAAAY!.
    • Zombat - 101 Kills
Move in circle around the map while shooting the zombies chasing you. You can pick the weapon drops if you want but only if it's safe.
    • Pacifist Island - Survive 1 minute and 40 seconds
Move in circle around the map while picking coconuts and dodging fires, missiles and attackers. The shield coconuts are the most useful but also the rarest ones so use them wisely.
    • Infection - 160 Red Cells
Try to collect mutagens early on so you can use the "Paralyze" ability later when you will be swarmed by 4+ antibodies.
    • Cryo Crysis - 100 Zombies saved
Use both of your hands for this minigame since speed is the key to max it out.
    • Holiday Hijinx - Score: 100
Clear the rounds with perfect combos as the combo multiplier will be the main way to raise your score. Check the tip in Caught Peeking for an easy method.

If you fail a minigame, you will have to search for it again. The minigames rotation is random so you can either continue your run or restart. Once you have maxed all the minigames out, you will unlock this trophy.

  • Celebrate a golden "HOLIDAY"

This has to be done in the standalone version of the Holiday Hijinx minigame. At the menu of this minigame, you will notice "Holiday" written in red. You need to turn it to gold to unlock this trophy. To do so, you will have to turn each letter to gold by doing a perfect combo (finding elves in the right order) on round 7. You can then fail on purpose and repeat.

Check the spoiler below to see the golden "Holiday".

If you are having any trouble, feel free to use the tip mentioned in Caught Peeking.

Note: Some players have reported that this trophy did not unlock even after meeting the criteria. I do not know the reason and it has not happened to me the 5 times I have tried after getting 100%. Since the minigame is available right from the start, try to delete the game and reinstall it with the DLC if this trophy glitches on you.

Secret trophies

  • Push a snowball around until it breaks

You will find snowballs in the snow levels. You need to push one with your horde for a few seconds to break it and unlock the trophy.

In Snowburbs, from the starting point, go up and a bit to the left to reach an area with tracks on the floor. Follow them and you will find a snowman and a snowball on your way.

In Snowlake, from the starting point, go straight up and you will find a snowball.

  • OMG! YOU KILLED SANTA. HOW COULD YOU?! YOU MONSTER!

Santa is a new character added in the main game with this DLC. He is like any other human you can eat and appear with a very low rate in normal levels, as a fleeing NPC. You can find him more easily in snow levels along with elves, as a fighting NPC with guns. You will unlock this trophy as soon as you kill him.
