Introduction:

House of Ashes is the third game in the Dark Pictures series, and in many ways it's the best one yet. The series continues to struggle to live up to the the expectations set by Until Dawn, but if you're a fan of these choose-your-own-adventure horror games, you probably won't be disappointed, and the trophy lists seem to be getting more streamlined with each subsequent game. That isn't to say that this isn't a difficult list at times, but with the right planning, you shouldn't have too much trouble with this platinum.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Complete the game making only Head choices, then use scene select to find collectibles you missed.

This is the most restrictive playthrough, and it will lock you out of a lot of the trophies, but I found it's best to get this out of the way early. If you'd rather have full control over your first playthrough, feel free to do this at a later step.

Completing this step will earn you the following trophies:
The Sword and the Shield trophy_bronze.png
Slayer trophy_silver.png
There Is Always Hope trophy_gold.png
Start Thinking Like a Marine trophy_bronze.png
Portents trophy_silver.png
Casualties of War trophy_silver.png
The Statement of Randolph Hodgson trophy_silver.png
Scratching at the Past trophy_gold.png

Step 2: Save everyone (except Merwin), bring Clarice out of the pit but leave her before the catacombs, don't request backup in the briefing, keep Nick and Eric friendly, then reload the final scene for other endings.

You should be able to get a lot of the miscellaneous trophies here, make sure to quit and reload an earlier chapter if something goes wrong with a QTE or choice.

Completing this step will earn you the following trophies:

Let Me Have a Go! trophy_silver.png
The Thing trophy_bronze.png
Illuminating Evidence trophy_bronze.png
Chekhov's Gun trophy_bronze.png
Vision of the Past trophy_bronze.png
Heart to Heart trophy_bronze.png
Semper Fi trophy_silver.png
Ain't Got Time to Bleed trophy_gold.png
Golden Path trophy_gold.png
Into the Sunset trophy_bronze.png
Six Minutes of Night trophy_gold.png
Final Girl trophy_silver.png
Old Dog trophy_silver.png
Oorah trophy_bronze.png

Step 3: Reload scenes to have bad things happen, final cleanup run for more bad things

You'll now want to try to have everything go terribly for the characters with as little extra work as possible. You may need a final playthrough to have everything go terribly for Nick and Eric (along with saving Merwin if you haven't already), and an earlier reload to ensure Eric is dead in time to trap Rachel in the cocoon.

Completing this step will earn you the following trophies:

Double Tap trophy_bronze.png
So You're My Technician trophy_bronze.png
Full Clearance trophy_bronze.png
Until Death Do Us Part trophy_bronze.png
Climbing out of Hell trophy_bronze.png
Ghost Signal trophy_silver.png
Lost in Time trophy_bronze.png

Step 4: Complete the prologue in Movie Night

If you haven't done it already, this will be your final trophy, which should only take a few minutes.

Completing this step will earn you the following trophies:

31 trophies ( 16  13  )

  • Collect all Trophies

  • Five characters survived the finale

The five characters in question are Eric, Rachel, Nick, Salim and Jason. There are a few scenarios that must be avoided in order to get everyone to the finale alive:
    • When Eric is trying to save Rachel on the edge of the cliff, make sure to cut the rope, especially if Jason and Nick are saving Merwin
    • When you find Clarice, make sure to either leave her behind at the rope, or one of the early opportunities to ditch her once she begins to change.
    • Follow the steps for The Thing trophy_bronze.png to ensure that Rachel survives and isn't trapped in a cocoon.
Beyond that, it should just be a matter of completing every QTE successfully. Things can get pretty bad when Nick goes to plant the dynamite, but each situation can be resolved without any mandatory deaths. Once you complete the standoff during the eclipse, the trophy will unlock.
  • Eric helped Rachel purge her infection

The following steps must occur for this trophy to unlock:
    • Eric must survive while trying to save Rachel from falling off the cliff. Either cut the rope, or if Nick and Jason leave Merwin behind, they'll save Eric before he falls.
    • Salim must successfully complete all of his QTEs during his encounter with the monster, which will lead to the monster walking in sunlight and being burned.
    • Salim and Nick must work together to kill a monster.
    • Eric must survive the initial confrontation with Salim. As Nick, don't tell Salim to hide, and do everything you can to de-escalate the situation. If Nick and Salim's relationship is high enough, it should be enough to keep everyone alive.
    • Eric will eventually perform an autopsy on a monster, using the UV wand, where he'll discover that it acts as a weapon against the monsters.
    • During the big battle with every character and the monsters, Salim wil have the option of attacking one of two monsters. Choose the one leaping at Salim, which ensures that Rachel is infected by the other one.
    • When Jason and Salim are exploring the city, make sure that you interact with the corpse covered in yellow goo, to learn about the cocoons.
With all of this done, a scene will play out in the star chamber where Rachel is overcome by her infection. Make sure to fail the QTE with the knife, and then beg Jason not to shoot Rachel twice. Salim will suggest putting her in a cocoon, make sure to agree to that plan, and before that happens, Eric will use the UV wand to save Rachel. If you haven't already, use this opportunity to hunt down the parasite and complete the QTE to find the parasite for Secret 50.
  • Salim killed five creatures using his spear

As long as you complete all of Salim's QTEs, you should get this easily by the end of the game.
  • Eric discovered the unexpected effects of the UV wand

The following sequence of events needs to happen for this trophy:
    • Salim needs to complete all of his QTEs when fighting the monster, leading it to walk into the sunlight and burn itself.
    • Eric needs to survive being tethered to Rachel on the edge of the cliff (if Nick and Jason refuse to leave Merwin behind, make sure to cut the rope on the first or second opportunity).
    • Nick and Salim must successfully kill a monster by flanking it and completing the QTEs.
With this done, the dead monster will be dragged back to the temple, and eventually Eric will perform an autopsy, wherein he'll use the UV wand.

This trophy is the first part of a longer chain of events leading to The Thing trophy_bronze.png , so you may want to do all of this on one playthrough.
  • Found every part of Randolph’s journal

See Scratching at the Past trophy_gold.png for the locations of the journal pieces.
  • Salim returned home to his son

A few things need to happen to ensure this trophy unlocks:
    • During the mission briefing, choose not to have additional backup.
    • Make sure that Merwin doesn't make it to the temple alive, either by suffocating him, or leaving him during the extended chase sequence.
    • Salim must escape to the elevator. Either choose to rescue him as Jason, or stay and fight, rather than falling back to the elevator.
    • Finally, Salim must survive the standoff during the eclipse.
  • Everyone died in the finale

When the trophy says "everyone died in the finale," they really mean it. In order for this trophy to unlock, you'll need to get all five main characters to the eclipse battle; having fewer than all five characters reach the finale will void the trophy. From there, you can safely fail each of the QTEs, resulting in a gruesome death for each of them. With everyone dead, the trophy will unlock shortly after.
  • Only one character survived the finale

This trophy is a bit deceptive, as it doesn't need to be Rachel that survives, nor does it matter how many people make it to the eclipse battle. To be on the safe side, I got all five characters to the end and had all of them except Rachel fail their QTEs, but the game is a lot more generous, allowing you to bring as few as two people to the end (I think that's the fewest you can possibly bring), and as long as only one person is alive at the end, the trophy will unlock after the credits.
  • Eric and Nick shared a moment in the elevator

This is one of two trophies directly tied to the relationship level between Eric and Nick, and it can be a bit of a pain if you don't work on it early enough. First, the relationship level between Eric and Nick needs to be above 50% (you can check this by pressing the touch pad whenever you're playing as either character). As long as you have an overall positive relationship by the time you reach the star chamber, you should be OK. Next, you need to ensure that only Nick and Eric make it back to the elevator. For Rachel, don't try to take her to the cocoon to avoid her being cured of the parasite. For Salim and Jason, have Jason go to rescue Salim, and then fail every QTE. That should leave only Nick and Eric, and when they reach the elevator to escape, they'll have a conversation, earning you the trophy.
  • Chose only Head decisions

Throughout the story, you'll have to make dozens of dialogue or action choices, and behind the text for each choice, you'll see the faint outline of either a brain or a heart. These indicate whether you're making a Head or Heart decision, and for this trophy you'll need to only pick Head options throughout the game. There will be at least one instance where you'll be given the choice of two Heart decisions. In this case, you're free to choose whatever you want. You can pause the game at any time, and it should say that you'd only made Head decisions whenever possible. As long as it says that at the end of the game, the trophy will unlock.
  • Found all of the Black Framed Pictures

There are six black framed pictures hidden throughout the game, which are meant to give you a clue about a future choice in the game. Below are the locations of each picture, along with the chapter they appear in:

Arisen: Cursed - In the burial chamber, shortly after regaining control of your character, head to the right to find the picture.
Squeeze: Underworld - When Nick and Jason meet up underground, head up the stairs to the left of the door you can interact with to find this picture.
Fallen: Pazuzu - Soon after gaining control of Eric, you'll descend down a drop using climbing equipment. You'll find yourself heading down a long corridor, and at a fork in the road, Rachel will go left. Go right instead, and at the end of another tunnel, you'll find the picture.
Tripwire: Bloodbath - Nick and Jason will enter a circular room with a hole in the center, head around the right side, and you'll find the picture just past the corpse on the ground.
Thirst: The Signal - When you gain control as Nick in this chapter, the premonition will be right next to you.
Mauled: Brothers - After exiting the elevator with Jason and Salim, take a hard left towards the glowing green tree, and you'll find the picture at its base.
  • Found all of the White Framed Pictures

There are six white framed pictures hidden throughout the game, which are meant to give you a clue about a future choice in the game. Below are the locations of each picture, along with the chapter they appear in:

Disarmed: The Raid - After the scene where a shepherd spits on Rachel, don't leave the room you're in. Instead, turn around and you'll find the premonition in the corner of the room.
Daylight: Pazuzu - Once you gain control of Salim, continue through the tunnels until you find the dead soldier. Opposite him, you'll find the premonition tucked into the wall.
Ultraviolet: The Temple - Once Eric and Rachel split up to find fuel for the generator, head up the big set of stairs in the background, and head right. Follow the corridor to find a room with the picture inside.
Staked: After the Fall - After the cutscene with Jason and the tripwire, the picture will be right in front of you.
Surrendered: Slayer - While looking for Joey, you'll come across a puddle of blood. Once you regain control, look to the right, and you should find a secret. Beyond that, you'll find the picture.
Comrades: Enemy of My Enemy - Salim and Jason will reunite after being split up, and once you regain control of Salim, head just to your right and you should find the picture on a wall.

  • Found all of the Secrets

There are 50 secrets found throughout the game, some of which requiring a specific chain of events to access them. This is the full list in the order in which they appear in the game, broken up by the game's chapters:

    The Briefing
Secret 1: Bandit Briefing - After the mission briefing, you'll have five minutes to explore before a cutscene begins. Behind Merwin, you'll find a coffee cup you can interact with and move to find the secret.

    The Raid
Secret 2: Mythology Book - When you first play as Salim, head into Zain's bedroom and the book will be on his desk. Make sure to grab this before interacting with the bed.
Secret 17: Pagan Effigy - After securing the farm house, Rachel will begin interrogating one of the men (presuming you left them alive). Choose the Head option as Jason, and he'll inspect one of the effigies on the wall, revealing the secret.
Secret 7: Gas Mask - After the first interrogation at the farm house, Rachel will have Jason escort her to another building. Head inside after speaking to Nick, and in the first room on your left, you'll find a basket filled with gas masks.
Secret 47: Punctured Skull - When you first fall underground, you'll begin playing as Nick. Make your way through the tunnels until you find Jason. When you regain control, go around the right side of the giant hand statue, where you'll find the secret.
Secret 18: Pazuzu - When Eric and Rachel first meet up underground, you'll climb around a door and traverse a narrow path. On the other side, this statue will be on the ground nearby.

    The Temple
Secret 32: Curse of Akkad - When Rachel and Eric split up to look for fuel for the generator, head to the pile of rubble with the flare on top of it, and then head in the direction away from the giant set of stairs. You'll find a desk with a letter, make sure to flip the letter over and inspect the back.
Secret 12: Cuneiform Tablet - When you're exploring the temple, either before or after refueling the generator, locate the big tent where the fuel is located. Just behind the tent, you'll find this secret on a crate.
Secret 34: Expedition Members - When you're exploring the temple, either before or after refueling the generator, find the big tent near the center of the room. Inside you'll find a desk on your left, with the secret on top.
Secret 35: Aline's Letter - When you're exploring the temple, either before or after refueling the generator, head towards the giant set of stairs. Just to their left, you'll find a desk, interact with it and move the coffee cup to find the secret.
Secret 24: Randolph's Journal 1 - When you're exploring the temple, either before or after refueling the generator, find the big tent near the center of the room. Inside you'll find a desk on your right, with the secret on top.
Secret 44: Dynamite - When you're exploring the temple, either before or after refueling the generator, head towards the flare in the middle of the room. Right next to it is a big sand pit, with an interaction point on the far side from where you're standing. Interact with that point, and make sure to use the right analog stick to look to the left of the detonator for the secret.
Secret 20: Creature Features - When you're exploring the temple, either before or after refueling the generator, head up the giant stair set at the back of the room, and then enter the room to your right. Follow the corridor to find a room with the secret on a desk.
Secret 42: Reference Book - After reparing the generator with Jason and Nick, you'll investigate a new corridor. Immediately after regaining control, and at the end of a corridor you'll find a book. After initially examining it, you'll open the book, and you'll need to flip the page for the secret.
Secret 21: Star Map - After the QTE with the tripwire, Jason will radio Eric. Once you regain control, this secret will be just up ahead, to the right of a crate you move to exit the room.
Secret 13: Randolph's Journal 2 - After the QTE with the tripwire, the secret will be on the ground more or less in front of you. Make sure to get this before interacting with the crates to leave the room.
Secret 29: Holed Stone - After defending yourself as Salim, the next time you play as him, you'll find yourself in a dark corridor. Walk forward until you see the secret on the ground in front of you.
Secret 14: Randolph's Journal 3 - While playing as Nick and searching for Joey, you'll come across a puddle of blood. Once you regain control of Nick, head to the right, and you'll find this secret on the ground. Make sure to flip the page over.
Secret 5: Staked Woman - After you return to the temple and are tasked with fortifying it as Jason, you'll head through a door that's being guarded by the machine gun. Head through this corridor and you'll arrive at a room with a hole in the center. Head to the left, and you'll find a corpse by the left wall. Interact with it and move the right analog stick to find the stake.
Secret 6: Bloodless Corpse - In the same room as Secret 5, on the opposite wall. When you enter the room, head to the right until you find the corpse by the right wall. Make sure to use the right analog stick after interacting with the corpse to inspect its face.
Secret 23: Randolph's Journal 4 - In the same room as Secret 5, continue past the corpse on the left to find this secret on the ground.
Secret 31: Cylinder Seal - Head through the room containing Secret 5, and in the next tunnel, you'll find this secret on a crate to your left.
Secret 48: Ancient Helmet - After regaining control of Rachel at the bottom of the pit, continue forward, hugging the right wall until you find the secret on your right.
Secret 11: Plastic ID Card - After regaining control of Rachel at the bottom of the pit, head forward while sticking to the left, and the secret should be right in front of you.
Secret 33: Randolph's Journal 5 - After regaining control of Rachel at the bottom of the pit, head forward, staying in the center of the chamber. You should find this secret in front of the second pillar you come across.
Secret 8: Science Notes - After making a torch as Rachel, head forward until you see the secret right in front of you.

    The Signal
Secret 22: Finds Catalog - When you regain control of Nick after the climbing section with Rachel, you can find this secret on a crate near where Nick starts.
Secret 49: Battle Tablet - When you regain control of Nick after the climbing section with Rachel, head towards the stairs in the background, and then take a hard left into an open area. The first thing you can interact with in this area is the secret.
Secret 9: Vampire Speculations - In the same open area as Secret 49.
Secret 39: Infection Symptoms - In the same open area as Secret 49.
Secret 25: Randolph's Journal 6 - When you regain control of Nick after the climbing section with Rachel, walk towards the stairs in the background, and at the foot of the stairs, take a hard right. Follow this path to the secret.
Secret 3: Expedition Map - When you regain control of Nick after the climbing section with Rachel, you'll see a tent nearby with a light on it. Head over there and inspect the map on the far table.
Secret 50: Ritual Tablet - Once Salim and Jason reunite after holding open a door, you'll enter a large room. Head to the right, and this secret will be sitting on top of something.
Secret 16: Randolph's Journal 7 - In the same area as Secret 50, towards the back wall in the dark.
Secret 28: Parasite Notes - In the sickbay that Jason and Salim find, in the center of the room on a desk.
Secret 46: Autopsy Notes - In the sickbay that Jason and Salim find, this secret is on a desk in the corner of the room.
Secret 30: Black Onyx - In the sickbay that Jason and Salim find, find the door on the left wall that exits the room, but don't interact with it. Just to the right, you'll find an alcove containing the secret.
Secret 26: Randolph's Journal 8 - In the sickbay that Jason and Salim find, you'll find an open cell on one wall (not the room exit on the left). Head inside the cell and you'll find the secret.

    The Ancient One
Secret 40: Finds Ledger - After exiting the elevator with Jason and Salim, the secret will be nearby on a desk.
Secret 10: Cocoon - After exiting the elevator with Jason and Salim, walk forwards until you see a glowing column on your right. Interact with it, and then use the right analog stick to inspect the top of it for the secret.
Secret 4: Pocket Watch - After exiting the elevator with Jason and Salim, head forward, hugging the left wall. You'll eventually come across a corpse sitting on the ground, and just past it, this secret.
Secret 15: Randolph's Journal 9 - Just after Secret 4, near the left wall.
Secret 41: Mysterious Artifact - When Jason and Salim start exploring the city, eventually you'll reach the end of a path, and you'll have the option of dropping down or walking out onto a kind of runway. Head to the runway, and a cutscene will play. Once it ends, interact with the thing at your feet.
Secret 37: Ruptured Skull - When Jason and Salim are exploring the city, eventually you'll climb onto a round platform with a hole in the center. Head around the right side, and you'll find this secret.
Secret 27: Fossilized Lifeforms - When Jason and Salim are exploring the city, you'll reach a point where you have to navigate a corridor without stepping on anything (you'll know you're at the right part when you see a cutscene of Jason carefully stepping over something). Make it to the end without waking the monsters and you'll drop down into a new area. From there, head right and interact with the skeletons on the ground, using the right stick to look at the skeleton on the right.

    Strange Aeons
Secret 43: Mary's Notes - Once you regain control of Rachel in the star chamber, this secret will be on a nearby stack of crates.
Secret 45: Van Huyten's Confession - Once you regain control of Rachel in the star chamber, this will be by the glowing wall in the back.
Secret 19: Creature Life Cycle - Once you regain control of Rachel in the star chamber, you'll find this secret on a bulletin board near the water.
Secret 36: Randolph's Journal 10 - Once you regain control of Rachel in the star chamber, this will be on the backside of the thing Salim is standing by in the middle of the room.
Secret 38: Alien Parasite - To get this, you'll need to follow the same steps required to earn The Thing trophy_bronze.png . Once Eric uses the UV wand to save Rachel, search the holes in this room until you find the parasite. Complete the QTE, and then inspect the parasite on the ground for the secret.
  • Finished the prologue in Movie Night

Movie Night is a co-op mode that can be found under "Don't Play Alone" in the main menu. You can do this with one controller, as it will switch which player is in control depending on the character. For this trophy, you just need to complete the short prologue section in Akkad.
  • Completed the Solo Story

You'll earn this trophy after reaching the end of the story and the credits start to roll. It doesn't matter who, if anyone, survives the finale, you just need to complete the story.
  • Eric ignored Nick’s radio signal

This is one of two trophies tied to the relationship level between Eric and Nick, and can be a bit of a pain if you don't start working on it early enough. First, you need to get the relationship level between Eric and Nick very low (anything near 50% won't be good enough). Whenever you have the option of helping Nick as Eric, don't, and be as antagonistic as possible at every opportunity. Next, when Nick is setting the dynamite charges at the cocoons, have him choose to go to the largest mound at the end, rather than retreat. Complete the QTEs, and eventually the charges will detonate. Nick will radio everyone saying he's still alive, and if you've successfully ruined the relationship between Eric and Nick, you'll have the option of ignoring Nick for the trophy.
  • Balathu made two kills with his spear

Balathu is the guy with the spear and the weird beard in the game's prologue. The first spear kill essentially acts as a tutorial, where you'll be given plenty of time to throw a spear at a fleeing woman. Continue the prologue, opt to work together with Kurum, and Balathu should be the second person to die. If he's the first, Kurum will replace him later in the game, voiding the trophy.

The second kill will come near the end of the game. When Nick goes to set the dynamite near the cocoons, have him come back before heading towards the largest stack of cocoons, ensuring that Balathu remains a threat.

During the escape to the elevator, Salim will fall behind. Have Jason go to save him, and after a series of QTEs, Balathu will show up and throw his spear at Jason. Fail the QTE for the trophy.

Secret trophies

  • Eric and Rachel both died in the same explosion

The following steps need to occur for this trophy:
    • Eric needs to survive the scene where he's tethered to Rachel on the edge of the cliff (cut the rope if Jason and Nick are saving Merwin). Eric also needs to survive the confrontation with Salim (if Salim's relationship with Nick is good at this point, he should surrender without issue).
    • When Nick and Jason are setting charges, choose to either set them on the outside or up the middle, and remember your choice.
    • After the shootout on the cliff, you'll return to the temple. Rachel will have the option of either running or using the machine gun. Choose to run, and Nick will have to call out which way they need to run. Choose to have them run wherever you set the charges earlier, and the explosion will kill them both.
  • Three characters used the UV wand to attack the creatures

The following steps must occur for this trophy to unlock (make sure you keep the relationship between Eric and Nick positive throughout your playthrough):
    • Complete the steps required for Illuminating Evidence trophy_bronze.png , to ensure that Eric uses the wand. He'll also use the wand shortly after the autopsy, so between the two instances, that's Eric covered.
    • During the big battle with every character and the monsters in the catacombs, have Nick choose to use his crucifix against Balathu or Kurum, which will lead to Eric being attacked. Next, have Salim rescue Rachel when he has the option of attacking one of two monsters. Finally, have Rachel save Eric instead of running away.
    • At the end of the game, if their relationship is strong enough, Eric will give the UV wand to Nick when he goes to set the dynamite on the cocoons. During the first heartbeat QTE, fail on purpose, and choose to retreat. Successfully complete the next QTE, but fail the one after that, and Nick will use the UV wand, hopefully for the trophy.
  • Merwin fixed the radio

The following sequence of events need to happen for this trophy:
    • After you cut Merwin down from the ceiling, you'll do a series of QTEs to keep him quiet while Jason tends to his wounds. When Jason says, "you're killing him!" Make sure to fail the next QTE, so as not to suffocate him.
    • While escaping the monsters, Merwin will offer to let you leave him behind. Choose to take him with you.
With these steps done, when you attempt to repair the radio, Merwin will show up offering to fix it for you. At the end of the subsequent scene, the trophy will unlock.
  • Clarice killed Eric after becoming infected

The following steps must occur for this trophy to unlock:
    • Rachel must bring Clarice with her from the pit, back to the temple with the others.
    • Whenever prompted, make sure no one kills or leaves Clarice behind.
    • During the big battle in the catacombs, Eric must stay alive. so make sure to complete all of his QTEs, and if he is attacked and you're given the option to save him, do so.
At the end of the big battle, Clarice will fully transform and kill Eric, earning you the trophy.
  • Rachel became infected and killed Eric, or Eric killed her

The following steps must occur to unlock this trophy:
    • Both Eric and Rachel need to survive until they reach the star chamber near the end of the game. For Eric this means cutting the rope when you're tethered to Rachel and about to fall off the cliff (if Jason and Nick don't save Merwin, they'll save you before you fall either way), and during the confrontation with Salim, things need to be de-escalated to avoid Eric being shot. There is also a risk of Eric being killed by Balathur when everyone gets split up after the big battle, complete the QTE to save him as Nick.
    • During the big battle with every character, Salim will have the option to attack either the monster leaping at him, or the monster attacking Rachel. Choose the first option, ensuring that Rachel is infected.
    • Finally, Jason and Salim need to inspect the corpse covered in yellow goo while exploring the city.
    • Once you reach the star chamber, a sequence will play out where Rachel will be overcome by the parasite. Deliberately fail the QTE with the knife, and then beg Jason not to shoot her. Salim will suggest putting her in the cocoon; refuse this idea, and Rachel will escape.
    • During the final escape, Rachel will reemerge and attack Jason. Successfully complete all of the QTEs, and Rachel will be knocked off the cliff (by Nick, but that doesn't matter for the trophy).
  • Kurum and Balathu chose to fight together

In the game's prologue, you'll play as two characters in ancient Akkad. You'll have two decisions to make, and in both cases, choose to work together and not betray each other for the trophy.
  • Escaped the vault without any lingering injuries

The vault in question is where the giant mountains of cocoons are found at the end of the game, meaning you'll need to reach the elevator with everyone fully healthy. For most characters this means successfully completing all of their QTEs, with two main exceptions:
    • When Nick and Jason are looking for Joey, you'll come to a fork in the road, with a dark tunnel on your left and a well-lit tunnel on your right. Go left and find Joey's medkit
    • During the big battle in the catacombs, Salim will have the option of attacking one of two monsters. Choose the one diving at him to avoid being injured.
Once you reach the star chamber near the end, Nick will use the medkit to treat his (unavoidable) injury. From there, complete every QTE successfully, and the trophy is yours.
  • Rachel used the machine gun

After the radio is destroyed, you'll eventually fall back to the temple as a group. During your escape, Rachel will have the option of running or manning the machine gun. Choose the gun, and complete the subsequent QTEs until she has a chance to escape for the trophy.
  • Nick killed the ancient warrior with a stake

The following steps must occur for this trophy to unlock:
    • During the Temple chapter, Nick and Jason will go exploring through the door being guarded by the machine gun, and eventually you'll find the circular room where you can find Secret 5. Find the corpse with the stake driven into it, and when you interact with it, you'll have the option of taking or leaving the stake. Choose not to take it, and Nick will decide to take it instead.
    • When Nick begins setting the dynamite charges at the end of the game. he'll have the option of retreating, or heading towards the largest set of cocoons. Choose the second option, which will ensure a confrontation between Nick and either Balathu or Kurum.
    • Once the charges are detonated, complete the QTEs as Nick for the trophy.
  • Rachel survived after rejecting both her lovers

For this trophy, you will need to push both Nick and Eric away whenever possible (I wasn't outright abusive to either of them, but chose not to commit to either of them whenever possible). All three characters will also need to make it at least to the underground city. After the big battle with every character, Nick, Eric and Rachel will find themselves alone, and Nick will insist they talk. If you've sufficiently rejected both guys, you'll have the option of telling Eric that they're finished, and then Rachel will turn to Nick and end things too. Once that happens, simply make sure to finish the game with Rachel alive for the trophy. Leaving her trapped in the cocoon with everyone else dead will void this trophy, but that's a very specific scenario you're unlikely to run into.
  • Jason went back for Salim and they both made it to the elevator

In the Strange Aeons chapter, regardless of what happens with Nick and the explosives, you'll reach a point where the remaining characters are escaping, and they notice that Salim has fallen behind. When Jason speaks to him on the radio, make sure to make choices indicating that you won't leave him behind. Jason will go to rescue Salim, and you'll need to complete a series of QTEs to make it out alive. Get back to the elevator with both characters and the trophy will unlock.
  • Rachel was not rescued from her cocoon

The following steps must be completed for this trophy:
    • Eric must die before reaching the sun chamber. If you choose to save Merwin as Nick and Jason, you can get Eric out of the way early by refusing to cut the rope twice.
    • During the big battle with every character, Salim will have the opportunity to attack either the monster that's leaping at him, or the one attacking Rachel. Choose the first option, ensuring that Rachel is infected.
    • When Jason and Salim reach the city, make sure to interact with the corpse covered in yellow goo.
    • Finally, once you reach the star chamber, Rachel will become infected. Make sure she survives by choosing not to use the weapons, and tell Jason not to shoot her.
    • When Salim suggests putting Rachel in a cocoon, agree to the plan.
    • Finally, during the eclipse standoff, fail enough QTEs to ensure that everyone else dies.
  • Rachel witnessed the origin of the creatures.

Follow the steps for The Thing trophy_bronze.png , and once Rachel is feeling the effects of the parasite in the star chamber, a cutscene will play for the trophy.
