Supermassive Games is back with another installment of the Dark Pictures anthology, with some significant improvements over their last outing, Man of Medan. Little Hope has been simplified in terms of the trophy requirements, certain things have been made clearer, and the mandatory co-op has been removed. Thankfully, the game also features stronger writing (for the most part) and has better pacing than Man of Medan as well.

With the proper planning, you should be able to knock out the platinum in three playthroughs, but there are a lot of moving parts in a game like this, so things may not go as smoothly as you hope. Some things to keep in mind:

- When collectible hunting, know that items that progress the story are typically marked like this:

<<<<<<<

Don't interact with these items until you're sure you've grabbed everything and you're ready to move on.

- While controlling a character, you can always check to see how your actions have affected relationships with other characters. If you're working on the relationship trophies, a red down arrow will likely mean you have to start over, but you should be able to restart the chapter through Scene Select and undo whatever decision they didn't like.

Step 1: Head Playthrough, all collectibles - Solo Story

Focus on making only Head choices and getting all of the collectibles in this step. If you miss any, go back using Chapter Select and get the rest before continuing. You'll likely get some of the relationship or trait trophies along the way.

Completing this step will earn you the following trophies:

Dirty Little Secrets
So Much Death
On A Roll
Amiable Character
Considered Opinion
Deathly Visions
Glimmer of Hope
Full Circle
Secrets Too Dark
A Complete Picture

Step 2: Heart Playthrough in Movie Night mode, follow steps to have everyone die at Ruined House, then reload last chapter for slightly better ending

Focus on only making Heart decisions, and have everyone stay alive until the ruined house. Follow the steps for No Escaping Fate. After your playthrough ends, reload the last chapter, but don't blame Mary during the final flashback, and complete the game again.

Completing this step will earn you the following trophies:

Coven of Witches
Instinctive Reaction
That Dream Is Your Enemy
Fate Worse Than Death
No Escaping Fate

Step 3: Everyone Lives Playthrough, focusing on maxing out relationships and traits - Solo Story

Focus on any relationships you haven't completed or any traits. See The Odd Couple for some critical planning steps you'll need to avoid a full fourth playthrough, and then follow the Salvation trophy to ensure you get the ending you need.

Completing this step will earn you the following trophies:

Amiable Character
Rational Mind
Compassionate Soul
Headstrong Heroine
Deeper Understanding
Our Own Demons
Forgiveness
Unbroken
Free Spirit
We Are of Water
Strength From Within
Heavy Burden
Salvation
The Odd Couple
Solid as a Rock
All Together Now

Step 4: Cleanup (may require a partial playthrough for the Odd Couple trophy

Reload the Low Point chapter and follow the steps in The Odd Couple to finish the remaining relationship trophy if you haven't already gotten it.

31 trophies ( 17  12  )

  • Collect all Trophies

    Well done!

  • Found all witchcraft secrets

You can combine this with Secrets Too Dark, as both trophies will count towards the game's 50 secrets. Here is a list of all of their locations, including which chapters they appear in if you miss any during your playthrough. You can use Scene Selection to pick up any you missed, but just make sure to create a new save so you don't lose access to any subsequent chapters.

  • Completed the prologue

    Story-related and cannot be missed.

This trophy will unlock once you reach the opening credits.

  • Finished Movie Night

From the main menu, choose Don't Play Alone, and then select Movie Night. This is a multiplayer mode, but it's done locally and with only one controller. If you select the default options at the beginning, the game's characters will be split between a Player 1 and Player 2, and the game will notify you when the players switch. Aside from that, the game plays identically to the single player mode.

Make sure to combine this playthrough with either your Head or Heart playthrough to cut down on how many times you need to play through the game fully.

  • Completed 5 combat events in succession

Combat events are actions that require you to move a target with the right stick, and then press to complete whatever the action is. You'll have many opportunities to do this towards the end of the game, but you can get this pretty early on by finding the gun and the knife. When you reach the bar early in the game, John will throw three darts at a dart board. These count towards three of your five combat events, so you'll only need to do two more for the trophy.

  • Rational was one of top two traits for John

You should be able to get this during your Head playthrough; otherwise, aim to get it during your Save Everyone run. As the trophy suggests, avoid choices that steer towards believing something supernatural is happening, dismiss the paranoia and fear of the other characters, and you should get this by the time John and Andrew reach the museum, or while they're discussing the poppet, if you decide to interact with it.

  • Amiable was one of top two traits for Daniel

You should get this trophy as part of your Head playthrough, and should come as a result of your interactions with Taylor. Whenever you're given the option, choose to reassure Taylor, offer to do things first ahead of Taylor, and apologize for not staying with her when you reach the museum. The trophy will unlock after the museum interaction.

  • Compassionate was one of top two traits for Andrew

This will be the easiest to get during your "Save Everyone" playthrough, as your best options are often a combination of Head and Heart responses. Choose to sympathize with whoever you're talking to, offer moral support, and you should get this trophy when you choose to save Angela, or shortly thereafter.

  • Headstrong was one of top two traits for Taylor

You can get this during either your Head or Heart playthrough, depending on the choices you make. The key for either is to choose dialogue options where Taylor sticks to whatever her opinion is, no matter how selfishly or abusive she is about it. You'll likely damage your relationships with John and Daniel in the process, but you should get this at around the halfway point of the game, regardless of which playthrough you choose to do it.

  • Understanding was one of top two traits for Angela

This will likely unlock quite late into your playthrough, and likely needs to be unlocked during a Save Everyone run, as Angela is quite easy to kill off. Choose to keep John and Angela together early on, and have her be supportive whenever possible. The trophy unlocked for me after urging John to hurry outside of the ruined house.

  • Chose all of the Heart decisions

This is much easier to track and much harder to screw up than it was in Man of Medan. You can now track whether you've made Head or Heart choices in the pause menu - so as long as it says you've only made Heart choices by the end of the game, you should unlock the trophy. You can differentiate a Heart choice by the icon of a heart behind the dialogue or action choice. If at any point the pause menu no longer says that you've only made certain types of decisions, you can go to chapter select and it will tell you which chapter had head and heart choices, so you can replay from there.

If you're ever given the option of choosing between two Head options and no Heart options, you're free to choose whatever you want. The game specifies in the pause menu that you've made only Heart options when possible, so that's all that matters. Thanks to ThaMighty for confirming this.

  • Found all of the black framed Pictures

    See A Complete Picture.

  • Found all of the white framed Pictures

    See A Complete Picture.

  • Completed the Solo Story

In the main menu, choose Play Alone, and then start a new game. When you reach the end credits, this trophy will unlock. Combine this with either a head-only or heart-only playthrough, depending on how you've conducted your Movie Night playthrough.

  • Found all family secrets

You can combine this with Dirty Little Secrets, as both trophies will count towards the game's 50 secrets. Here is a list of all of their locations, including which chapters they appear in if you miss any during your playthrough. You can use Scene Selection to pick up any you missed, but just make sure to create a new save so you don't lose access to any subsequent chapters.

  • Found all Pictures

Unlike in Man of Medan, the pictures in this game come in the form of photographs that are lying face down throughout the game. Below is a video showing you the locations of each of them. You can use Chapter Select to grab any you miss during your initial playthrough - see the list of specific chapters and picture names under the video to see which you've missed.

    Picture Title - Chapter
    Deadly Omen - Reunion
    Familiars - Playing Tricks
    Human Sacrifice - Confrontation
    Mercy - Off Track
Like a Stone - Another Way
    Ritual Blade - Another Way
    Shackled - The Crossing
    Dark Magic - Troubled History
    Voodoo Doll - Pursued
    Exorcism - Surrounded
Demon at the Door - Reflections
    Pressed into Silence - Ruined
    Rope - Full Circle

  • You can combine this with No Escaping Fate, which is probably the easiest way of killing everyone, but John, Daniel, Taylor and Angela can also be killed by their respective monsters during the game. If none of them are alive by the time you reach the ruined house, you will still need to have completed the steps in the aforementioned trophy to make sure Andrew doesn't survive.

  • Andrew was saved from himself

This should unlock as part of your Heart playthrough, depending on the choices you make. The following needs to happen for this trophy to unlock:

    1. When you interact with Vince at the church, things need to end on good terms with him. If you can avoid it, don't shoot your gun, and then either let him into the church, or convince him to go get help.
    2. At the ruined house, when you go back in time, don't blame Mary for what's been happening to the town.

Everyone else needs to be dead, either by their own monsters prior to reaching the house, or in the house. This is accomplished by choosing the more selfish options whenever characters are trapped by their own monsters (as in, the opposite choice of whatever unlocks each character's "saved" trophies).

Secret trophies

  • Defeated Taylor's demons

This trophy unlocked during my Head playthrough, so I recommend doing this on that playthrough just to ensure that everything matches up. Once you reach the Reflections chapter of the game, Taylor will be attacked and dragged away by the monster that has been pursuing her. You will need to complete a series of quick-time events playing as both Taylor and Daniel, and when you're given a dialogue choice, choose the Head option. Once Taylor has escaped the monster, this trophy will unlock.

As an aside, this trophy is supposed to unlock for defeating both versions of Taylor's demon - how Tanya dies in the prologue (drain pipe/going in the house) dictates what Taylor's demon is. For now, this trophy pops for just defeating one, but the intent is for it to pop when both have been defeated, so the conditions for this trophy unlocking may change in the future.

  • Saved Mary

In order to save Mary, you will need to have found the secret of the Old Bible in the museum while playing as Daniel and Taylor (see the secret guide for more info). Whenever you have the chance during a flashback, make sure not to cast suspicion on Mary, and during the final flashback at the ruined house, you need to direct the suspicion towards Carver by selecting the Rage option, and then the Persistence option. If done correctly, the priest will be blamed for the events of the game, and Mary will go free. The trophy will unlock after the credits.

  • Saved Daniel

Once you reach the Ruined chapter of the game, you'll eventually find yourself in a situation where you're face to face with the monster that has been pursuing Daniel. You will need to complete a series of quick-time events using both Andrew and Daniel: choose to fight the monster as Andrew, and then attempt to escape the hole. Once you're given a dialogue choice as Daniel, choose "Go!" and the trophy will unlock.

  • Saved Taylor

This trophy unlocked during my Head playthrough at the same time as Our Own Demons. If you're doing your Head playthrough, once you reach the Reflections chapter on the dirt trail, see that trophy description for a guide of what to do.

  • Saved Angela

This is a bit of a weird one, as it isn't as immediately obvious as the other trophies for saving characters. To unlock it, you'll first need to have Angela survive being attacked at the bridge, and made it to the ruined house alive. Then, when John is attacked, choose to urge him to hurry, and the trophy should unlock.

  • Saved Andrew

This trophy unlocked at the end of my Head playthrough, so I recommend going for it during that playthrough to ensure it works the same way. Once you escape the ruined house near the end of the game, you'll get a cutscene where you're confronted while walking on the road. Once the scene ends, the trophy should unlock.

The specific ending I got that unlocked the trophy may depend on having found the gun in the Off Track chapter and keeping it with you throughout the game. I believe as long as Andrew survives the events of the game, this trophy will unlock.

  • Saved John

I did this during my Head playthrough, so I recommend you do the same so that everything lines up the same way. When you reach the Full Circle chapter at the end of the game, John will be confronted by the monster that has been pursuing him. You will need to complete a series of quick-time events, playing as both Andrew and John. Eventually you will make it inside the house, and you'll have a dialogue choice to make. Choose the Head option where you insist on being left behind, and the trophy will unlock.

  • Everyone died at the ruined house

In order to get this ending, a few things will need to happen. Obviously all of the playable characters will need to survive until the end of the game, but you'll also need to make sure that none of them have the traits that will save them from dying. The easiest way of achieving this is to combine this with your Heart playthrough, and choose to fight with the other characters whenever possible. Basically the worse person you are, the better chance you have of dying.

There are four instances related to each character's monster where you will need to choose the selfish or cowardly option. This prevents that character from being "saved," an important step for this trophy. The four instances are:

    1. Taylor needs to beg Daniel to save her while being dragged away outside the factory
    2. Daniel needs to panic while being pulled out of the hole in the factory, causing Andrew to fall.
    3. Angela needs to be selfish during the conflict outside the ruined house, instead of urging John to run
    4. John needs to beg for help while holding the door shut in the ruined house

The final two steps involve Vince and Mary. Things with Vince need to be left in a good way after the church, so if you do fire your gun at him, either let him in the church or convince him to go for help. The goal with Mary is to blame her for the trouble in the past, so the final flashback should end with her being burnt alive.

If you do all of these things, the game will end with everyone dead, and the trophy is yours.

  • Everyone was saved

This is basically the inverse of the No Escaping Fate trophy, and there are multiple moving parts to worry about. There will be four instances in the game where the characters will need to choose to act bravely, which will also "save" that character and earn the associated trophy. They are as follows:

    1. Taylor needs to tell Daniel to save himself while being dragged away outside the factory
    2. Daniel needs to tell Andrew to let him go while being pulled out of the pit
    3. Angela needs to urge John to hurry outside of the ruined house
    4. John needs to tell everyone to run while he's holding the door of the ruined house shut

You'll also need to leave things with Vince on good terms. When you arrive at the church, you'll interact with him. Don't shoot your gun, but if you do, either let him in the church or convince him to get help. Finally, during the flashbacks, don't blame Mary for what's happening, and during the final flashback, expose Carver as the one responsible (see Forgiveness). With all of this done, the game should end with everyone free and the trophy should unlock.

  • Maximized Angela and John's Relationship

This will take some careful planning, and with the proper set up, will likely come as part of a partial playthrough after saving everyone. I recommend you do the following steps as part of your Save Everyone playthrough, so you won't have to go back and do this part again.

    - Early in the game, be supportive of John going into the fog (do not go into it with him; telling him to be careful and staying behind actually increases the relationship more), and say he did the right thing when Andrew talks to Angela about it.
    - Choose to go with John and Andrew into town when everyone splits up.
    - As John, reassure Angela that they'll be safe.
    - After the flashback on the bridge, don't tell Angela about seeing her dead double (just let the timer run out).
    - Once Angela returns to the group after escaping her monster in the sewers, there should be a relationship increase and it should say "Angela expressed relief that she was safely reunited with Andrew and John"

Now you can finish your Save Everyone playthrough. Once you're done, go back to the Low Point chapter, and you'll be playing through the rest of the game again, following these steps:

    - As Andrew, choose to save Daniel first, but fail all of the QTEs. Next fail the QTEs for saving Taylor (this may be optional)
    - During the flashback in Reflections, where Andrew's double isn't sure how to proceed, choose to blame Mary.
    - When you reach the factory in Ruined, pick the Impatient dialogue choice, and then the following Heart choice.
    - Finally, when John is attacked outside of the ruined house, have Angela stay to help John. Complete John's first two QTEs, and then complete Angela's two QTEs. When it switches back to John, fail the QTE, and then as Angela, throw the hammer back to John.

This should be enough to get you the trophy (thanks to Azedrun and KHDelBoy for this method).

  • Maximized Daniel and Taylor's Relationship

This is the easiest of the relationship trophies to unlock, as Daniel and Taylor interact more or less exclusively with each other, but you'll need to be pretty much perfect to max out their relationship meter. You should aim to do this during your Head playthrough, as many of the dialogue options line up with that, although you can also do this on a subsequent playthrough when you aren't worrying about Head or Heart choices and unlock this pretty quickly.

You can check your progress by pressing while controlling either Daniel or Taylor, and then pressing on the relationship bar. The green arrows are what you want, any red arrows will likely lock you out of the trophy.

  • Andrew has a good relationship with all characters

You shouldn't have too much trouble getting this during your Save Everyone playthrough, and you'll need everyone alive for the run to ensure that their relationships with Andrew have a chance to grow. The game seems to consider a "good relationship" as having the relationship bar about 2/3 full, which isn't all that taxing as long as you aren't going out of your way to be rude to people. I chose to have Angela, Andrew and John go together when the group initially splits up, which may have given Andrew more necessary time with Angela, and the trophy unlocked for me when Andrew helped John push the crates in the factory.
