- Does difficulty affect trophies?: Yes, you will need to beat the game on Olde School.
Welcome to The Bard's Tale Remastered and Resnarkled, a port or remaster of a game released back in 2004. You play at the titular bard who is after women, wine, and song while a narrator who seems to be 100% done with you narrates over your adventure as you go to try and save the Princess Caleigh from her capture.
The game has a decently long list of missable trophies, but they aren't too bad if you explore around a bit to find all the chests and treasures hidden around the map. One key thing is try to spend as little money as possible until you get to Dounby so you can donate 20,000 silver to the Kirk. You can make a save before you do so and then reload it after so you can spend the money on gear or the Wandering Trow maps.
Some general tips for Olde School:
- At the start of the game, put the bonus stats you get into Vitality, Luck, Dexterity, and Rhythm.
- After about the midgame, you can stop putting points into Vitality (I stopped at 11 Vitality).
- Ranged weapons are the best as you can attack enemies from off screen and your summons can take the damage for you.
- Don't put any skill over 17 as the Tokens you get will boost them by +3 and you cannot go over 20 in a skill.
- Be Nice to the dog in Houton and then purchase the Dog Training Talent once it is available. It gives you a free melee ally to soak damage for you.
- Grab the Powershot, Arrowstorm and Critical Strike Talents after the Dog Training, after that grab whatever you think might be helpful. Treasure Hunter Talent is kinda a waste if you are already searching the maps for all the treasure.
- If you see a bard instrument, purchase it as it may allow you to summon more allies or it will give you more energy in which to summon.
- In Chapter 11, do your absolute best to keep Hatcher alive until the end of the Chapter, keep as much Adderstone as possible until this point so you can spam Caleigh and Herne summons to keep the enemies at bay so they don't kill Hatcher. Make a save before hand just incase he dies. If he survives to the end of the chapter, he will give you the best bow in the game.
The game has several cheat codes that do not affect the trophies, the guide was written as to not be using them but you can use them if you see fit. To enter the cheat codes, hold down the four shoulder buttons one by one and the last one click, release, then hold it down. Then you can enter the following cheat codes:
- Damage x100 -
- Invincibility -
- Attacks do not hit you -
- Obtain Silver and Adderstone -
- HP and Mana replenish -
- Unlock access to all map locations -
- Debug Menu -

Step 4: Head to Greenlands, Stromness, and Firbolg Mine.
Grab the upgraded Tunes as you go through if you wish. Be sure to try and keep Hatcher alive through the entirety of Stromness with liberal uses of your Caleigh and Herne artifact summons as if he is alive at the end of the chapter he will award you with the best bow in the game. The shop in Stromness is the last store in the game so buy all the gear you want from there as you have no use for gold past this (except the Wandering Trow Maps if you have not purchased them already, if you haven't keep 16,000-20,000 gold depending on your Charisma to purchase them). You can head to the dungeons they open up to get the last 4 artifacts. Afterwards, you are ready go to Dounby Tower to complete the game. While in the tower, summon the last 2 artifact summons if you have not already, and when given the options at the end of the game, do not pick the third option or you will unlock the difficulty below the one you are playing on.
