Introduction

The Awakened Fate Ultimatum is Nippon Ichi Software's latest entry in the Roguelike genre, following The Guided Fate Paradox. It is not a direct sequel and its plot is largely separate from its predecessor. Those of you who played GFP may be concerned about this game's Platinum difficulty but fortunately, this game is much easier both in terms of gameplay and trophy demands. The overall gameplay has been simplified and is easier to jump into, and it is a relatively forgiving game as Roguelikes go. This game employs a heavy theme of Choice, and at numerous times you will be given two options on how to proceed with the game's events. For the Platinum, you will be required to play through every option which will require at least a second run of the main story. This can be done via a New Game Plus type option upon beating the game and is easier the second time around.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Beat the main story

Simple enough, beat the 15 story missions. After completing Mission 14, you will be given an important Choice which will influence the final dungeon. It will be very clear which Choice this is when the time comes. Upon finishing the resulting dungeon and saving your Clear data, the game will reload from that Choice, allowing you to pick the other option. Complete this dungeon as well, then reload once more and there will be a new, third option. This is the "True Ending," which will unlock the post-game. As you play through this and further steps, try to collect as many different items as possible, and stockpile any equipment you find with "+" after the name. The Shop will update inventory every time you complete (or fail) a dungeon, and it will save time later if you start this early.

Throughout this step, you'll unlock:
Mission Accomplished 1
Mission Accomplished 2
Mission Accomplished 3
Mission Accomplished 4
Mission Accomplished 5
Mission Accomplished 6
Mission Accomplished 7
Mission Accomplished 8
Mission Accomplished 9
Mission Accomplished 10
Mission Accomplished 11
Mission Accomplished 12
Mission Accomplished 13
Mission Accomplished 14
The Ultimate Ultimate Choice
Jupiel's Savior
Ariael's Savior
The Truth
Deitize Me
Crystal Customizer

Step 2: Repeat the story, making different Choices
Once you've completed the True Ending, you will have the option to start the story over again. Doing so will reset your character's level, but keep any items you've acquired and Crystal Customization points you've spent. Now you should play through the story again, taking the opposite option for every decision you made in Step 1. To speed this up, you may press to skip cutscenes (which will skip straight to Choices when necessary) or press to have the game speed through text you've already seen if you want to see the dialogue changes brought about by these choices.

Throughout this step, you'll unlock:
The Decider

Step 3: Post-game Content
Once you've completed the second playthrough, your Crystal Customization and level should be high enough to take on the post-game dungeons. The first three options lead to new dungeons of increasing difficulty, while the fourth and fifth are simple cameo cutscenes which give you unique pieces of equipment. A sixth option will unlock upon completing these events, which is just another cameo cutscene.

Throughout this step, you'll unlock:
Met Lilliel
Met Neliel
Met the 3 Girls

Step 4: Cleanup
Now do anything and everything you haven't accomplished yet. Fight any enemies you missed, hunt down whatever elusive items you've yet to find, finish up your Crystal Customization, get your equipment to +99 and anything else you might have forgotten along the way.

Throughout this step, if you don't have them already, you'll unlock:
The Ultimatum Warrior
Serious Collector
Weapon Booster Supreme
Armor Booster Supreme
Quick Shader
Phantom Diver
Tricky Shadow
Frightful Fielder
Energy Drainer
Blades of a Feather…
Sky Waver
Impact Player
Lightly Armored
Gale Runner
Booster of Items
Customizer Overload
Fully Awakened

  • Obtain all other trophies.

This will pop alongside your final trophy. Congratulations! Try not to sleep through it.

  • Defeat all enemies.

You can check your progress on this trophy by pressing at Base and checking the Enemy List in the Library.

You will likely encounter almost every enemy simply playing through the game normally, though a number of higher-tier monsters only appear in the post-game dungeons. There are a few monsters with somewhat unusual behaviour, which I will list here.

Fiddler Chest and Death Angler, the third in the Treasure/Hideout Crab lists, only appear in the post-game dungeon "Scarlet Snelia". Their respective upgraded versions (sixth in those lists) only appear in the post-game dungeon "Phantasma Check".

The second-to-last enemy category is Limbo monsters. These only appear if you spend a very long time on a single floor of a dungeon (you will receive warnings as the time nears, and the music will change when the monster arrives). Once the time comes, they will begin spawning ceaselessly, and hunt you down regardless of where they appear in the dungeon. There are three types:

-Limbo, which appears on early dungeons. It has 400 HP, 90 Attack, and 50 Defense. It drops 10,000 EC and always drops a Fruit of Eden upon defeat.
-Arbero, which appears on mid-game dungeons. It has 700 HP, 160 Attack, and 50 Defense. It drops 30,000 EC, often drops Fruits of Eden and rarely drops Levelers.
-Xelkio, which appears on late dungeons. It has 999 HP, 200 Attack, and 100 Defense. It drops 50,000 EC and always drops a Leveler upon defeat.

These are designed to be very strong at the point in the plot you would be doing that dungeon, but by the time you’ve completed the main story and post-game dungeons, Limbo and Arbero shouldn’t be a problem. Xelkio is fairly tough even with maxed Crystal Customization and +99 equipment, but taking out one for the Enemy List is doable with a couple Revive Gems or Fruits of Eden. It does not use any special tricks or status ailments, just very strong close-range attacks. Be sure to bring an Exit or get near the Next Floor gate before they come, as they will never stop spawning and can easily overwhelm you if you’re unprepared.

  • Obtain all items.

You can check your progress on this trophy by pressing at Base and checking the Item List in the Library.

This will likely be your last trophy, or close to it. Unfortunately there is no big secret to make this easier. It involves a lot of dungeon crawling and no small amount of luck to get every item in the game. Here are some general tips to help ease the pain as you go.

-Check the Shop after every dungeon (even if you fail) to see if there's any new items in stock. The Shop’s inventory draws from a random pool which varies depending on where you are in the main story.

-Until you have every item in their category, pick up any Gems, Pills, Potions, and/or Leaves you see, and keep them until the end of the dungeon (or use a Remarkable Gem to identify them).

-Once you find an Avarice Ring or Clairvoyant Ring, you can equip it to make items show up on your map. This is useful for farming trips.

-Specific dungeons are limited in what level of equipment they can have. For example, you will never find a Wooden Sword in Mission 14, nor will you find a Quartz Hammer in Mission 1. Likewise, certain items like the Ragnarok and Ajax Shield (and certain Equipment Gems) only appear in the post-game dungeons. Keep this in mind if looking for a specific weapon or armor.

-You only need to find the base-level of an Equipment Gem for it to count, you do not need to level it up via Item Boost.

-Most, if not all, Hex (armor) Gems drop in the second post-game dungeon, Phantasma Check. Similarly, Jag (weapon) Gems appear in the third post-game dungeon, True Second Name. The best way to farm them is to use a Clairvoyant Ring to seek out treasure chests (which appear as an orange + on the map). This works especially well for True Second Name, which has no Treasure Crab enemies.

-The Holy Aurora, Hellheim Shield, Nietono no Shana, and Armband must all be bought from the Shop (for 0 EC) after unlocking them, despite cutscenes implying they were given to you.

  • Choose every choice.

Throughout the main story, you will encounter many situations where you are given two options on how to proceed. This trophy requires making every choice, which will require two playthroughs. Though it does not particularly matter which order you follow in choices for The Decider, for simplicity's sake, I recommend you go either full "angelic" or full "devilish" in each playthrough (with the possible exception of Mission 5 - see note). If you desire, skipping cutscenes with will put you directly at choices when they occur.

This trophy counts both plot-relevant decisions and which of the two girls you speak to when prompted. Assuming you make every different choice upon repeating the main plot, the trophy will pop after you choose your conversation partner following the dungeon in Mission 12.

Note: The first choice in Mission 5, "The Suburbs of Loss", will trigger a Bad Ending if you pick the devilish/red option, "Give Up". Although this is required for the trophy, it also forces you to reload your last save. Therefore, saving at the end of Mission 4 is highly recommended. This is the only choice which triggers a premature ending.

  • Boost your weapon to +99 using Item Boost.

Item Boosting equipment requires a base item (which can be any level) and a second item of the same type (weapon or armor), which must already be boosted to +1 or higher. Pre-boosted items can be found either in the Shop or randomly in dungeons. You must find enough boosted items to add up to +99. Once you've reached this number, the trophy will pop.

If you want/need to farm this quickly, the best way is to die repeatedly, buying out any pre-boosted items in the Shop each time. Ideally this would be done at the beginning of a repeat playthrough so you can buy cheaper items and already have a decent supply of EC on hand but it can be done at any point in the story. Be sure to put all your items in the Storehouse before doing this, though.

Note: To save a significant amount of EC, it is recommended that you boost a weak item like Wooden Sword or Bronze Shield to +99, then boost a good item like Ragnarok or Ajax Shield with the +99 item. The cost of boosting is based on the base item and the amount of boosts it already has, which means (for example) boosting Ragnarok from +98 to +99 will cost more than boosting a Dagger from +1 to +95. You can also Item Boost your Equipment Gems if you get more than one of the same kind but this is not required for any trophies.

Secret trophies

  • Spend CP to completely fill all Crystal Customization spots.

Crystal Customization is this game’s main method of levelling up, which involves using CP to open nodes on a special grid. It is split between an Angelic half and a Devilish half, which each affect the stats and skills of your Deitized forms. It takes 202 CP total, 101 on each side, to complete the Crystal. You gain one indiscriminate CP per level up and gain alignment-specific CP based on your decisions in the main story.

The max level is 99, meaning you can gain 98 level CP per story repetition, and there is about 23 CP to be gained from decisions per repetition. Consequently, if you want to get this trophy in only 2 playthroughs, you will need to reach at least level 60 or so before starting the plot over.

Alternatively, you can just do a third playthrough, which will likely earn you enough CP by the time you reach the final boss again (at least). There is also an event you can view after completing the three post-game dungeons which gives 1 each of Angel and Devil CP, if you find yourself just shy of finishing.

  • Clear the story after saving both Jupiel and Ariael.

This trophy will unlock after beating the final boss following the 20-floor dungeon after choosing the unlockable third option in the Ultimate Choice. To open that option, you must first complete the 15-floor dungeons and their respective bosses brought about by choosing Jupiel and Ariael.

  • Clear the The 3 Girls story.

After completing the True Ending (see The Truth), you will be given several options for post-game events. The "3 Girls" option will open a 30-floor dungeon with stronger enemies than those of the Final Mission. Once you complete that dungeon (no boss), this trophy will pop.

  • Clear the Neliel story.

After completing the True Ending (see The Truth), you will be given several options for post-game events. The Neliel option will open a 20-floor dungeon with stronger enemies than those of the Final Mission. Once you complete that dungeon (no boss), this trophy will pop.

  • Clear the Lilliel story.

After completing the True Ending (see The Truth), you will be given several options for post-game events. The Lilliel option will open a 15-floor dungeon with stronger enemies than those of the Final Mission. Once you complete that dungeon (no boss), this trophy will pop.

  • Clear the story after choosing to save Ariael.

    See The Truth.

  • Clear the story after choosing to save Jupiel.

    See The Truth.

  • Make the final ultimate choice.

This trophy will automatically unlock once you get to the Ultimate Choice at the end of Mission 14. Oddly, you do not actually have to make the choice; the trophy will pop once you arrive at the decision screen.

  • Clear Mission 14.

    Story-related. Cannot be missed.

Mission 14 is a 10-floor dungeon with no boss. The trophy will pop after you are prompted to save your game.

  • Clear Mission 13.

    Story-related. Cannot be missed.

Mission 13 is a 10-floor dungeon. This is an unusual boss with several targets. The small "Livera" are the only targets that will move towards you, and can only attack at close distance. They have 45 HP each. The main boss will constantly spawn more of these, so keep them under control to avoid getting overwhelmed, and try not to use all your SP on them.

The pinkish targets are called Adductors and will neither move nor attack. However, once you destroy one, it will spawn a number of Liveras (equal to whichever number Adductor it was in your kill order so the first will spawn 1 Livera, the fourth will spawn 4 etc).

Continue dispatching Liveras as you work through the Adductors, then finally move onto the Adductor's Core in the back of the room. This boss will not move but will attack, dealing a fairly large amount of damage but it also sometimes does nothing on its turns. It will not spawn Liveras when you are in attacking range.

The trophy will pop after you are prompted to save your game.

  • Clear Mission 12.

    Story-related. Cannot be missed.

Mission 12 is a 10-floor dungeon with no boss. The trophy will pop after you are prompted to save your game.

  • Clear Mission 11.

    Story-related. Cannot be missed.

Mission 11 is broken into two dungeons, the first is 5 floors and the second is 10 floors. Neither part has a boss. The trophy will pop after you are prompted to save your game.

  • Clear Mission 10.

    Story-related. Cannot be missed.

Mission 10 is a 10-floor dungeon. The boss has 400 HP and will start using an extra-strong special skill at low HP. As always, healing items and Revive Gems are recommended, and Harden Pills/Fright Field is helpful as well. However, the boss is a Devil so Angel form is recommended for actual fighting. The trophy will pop after you are prompted to save your game.

  • Clear Mission 09.

    Story-related. Cannot be missed.

Mission 9 is a 10-floor dungeon with no boss. The trophy will pop after you are prompted to save your game.

  • Clear Mission 08.

    Story-related. Cannot be missed.

Mission 8 is a 10-floor dungeon with no boss. The trophy will pop after you are prompted to save your game.

  • Clear Mission 07.

    Story-related. Cannot be missed.

Mission 7 is a 10-floor dungeon with no boss. The trophy will pop after you are prompted to save your game.

  • Clear Mission 06.

    Story-related. Cannot be missed.

Mission 6 is a 10-floor dungeon. This dungeon has the same boss as Mission 4 but unlike that mission, you are now required to win to advance the story. The boss is a Devil so Angel form is recommended, as is Resonant Deitization. The boss has 180 HP and hits fairly hard so bring healing items or Revive Gems. The trophy will pop after you are prompted to save your game.

  • Clear Mission 05.

    Story-related. Cannot be missed.

Mission 5 is a 10-floor dungeon with no boss. The trophy will pop after you are prompted to save your game.

  • Clear Mission 04.

    Story-related. Cannot be missed.

Mission 4 is a 10-floor dungeon. There is a boss but you are expected to lose on your first playthrough. You will not lose items for doing so, so don't waste any healing items trying to survive. The trophy will pop after you are prompted to save your game.

  • Clear Mission 03.

    Story-related. Cannot be missed.

Mission 3 is a 10-floor dungeon with no boss. The trophy will pop after you are prompted to save your game.

  • Clear Mission 02.

    Story-related. Cannot be missed.

Mission 2 is a 7-floor dungeon with no boss. The trophy will pop after you are prompted to save your game.

  • Clear Mission 01.

    Story-related. Cannot be missed.

Mission 1 is a 5-floor dungeon. At the end is a boss, who is easily dispatched by using Resonant Deitization (which the game will explain when you get to the boss). The boss is a Devil so be sure to use your Angel form (either be in Angel form when you press or be human with Angel skills displayed). The trophy will pop after you are prompted to save your game.
