EXTRAS: Please see my Syrup and the Ultimate Sweet – Platinum Walkthrough guide for a complete, detailed guide on how to get all trophies in one go
Syrup and the Ultimate Sweet is an adorable, chibi-style Visual Novel created by NomnomNami and published by Ratalaika Games. You control the titular character, Syrup, a Candy Alchemist. A spunky green-haired scientist, she, along with her best friend and assistant Pastille, operates and owns a Candy Shop. Seen as intimidating, prickly and somewhat anti-social, Syrup spends the majority of her time alone in her lab, creating Candy. In this world, magic is relatively common but perhaps because she lacks any magical abilities, she's quite well known for being so anti-Magic that she has a rival, a Witch called Butterscotch. When you begin the game, you meet Gumdrop, a magical entity made of pure candy whose entire life purpose is to be friends with Syrup... and who keeps begging Syrup to eat her! Would you eat something that talks?
It's a very, very short game as the longest single playthrough, without skipping anything, takes no more than 15-20 minutes. If you choose to skip everything, you could easily get the Platinum in 15 minutes or 1hr if you don't skip so either way, it is an incredibly short Platinum that rewards you with quite a number of trophies!
IMPORTANT: THIS GAME DOESN'T HAVE AN AUTOSAVE so please remember to save!! You can use Save by pressing to open the in-game menu at any time.
Like most VNs, the gameplay is simply made up of reading, choosing from multiple dialogue options and experiencing several endings. There are 10 Endings to experience, 5 good ones and 5 bad ones. However, that is it; there are no collectibles, no battles, no hidden secrets to find and all trophies are just for the Endings. The game is still quite short and if you make the saves outlined in this guide and the Walkthrough [LINK], you'll easily nab this in no time without too much unnecessary backtracking so with this in mind, this guide will be structured assuming you are following the same path outlined in the Walkthrough.
STEP ONE — Get the 4 Endings that require starting a new game & follow the Walkthrough to make separate saves.
There are two Step 1s because, being a visual novel, there are two equally-sized camps: ones who speed through to the platinum and don't bother with the story and ones who truly want to enjoy the story. For the latter, the steps are always the same: just play it, then come back. So, because that is essentially all there is to that one, this step one is instead going to be for people gunning for the Platinum.
For this Step, you're going to want to go for the following Endings: Worst Ending (Make Save #s 1 & 2),
Syrup Ending (Make Save #3),
Frozen Ending, and
Candibal Ending. See the respective trophies or the Walkthrough for exact steps and Save placements.
By the end of this step, you'll have:
Gumdrop Ending
Syrup Ending
Frozen Ending
Candibal Ending
STEP TWO — Load Saves to get the remaining 6 Endings.
All remaining Endings will take seconds to get if you skip already-seen dialogue as most of these only have 1 decision to make and 3 at most.
By the end of this step, you'll have:
Bad End 1
Bad End 2
Bad Ending Collector (5/5)
Toffee Ending
Butterscotch Ending
Pastille Ending
Gumdrop Ending
Good Ending Collector (5/5)
Ultimate Sweet
