Stay on target Trophy in Star Wars: Battlefront

  • Stay on target

Kill 10 enemies in a match of Fighter Squadron

How to unlock Stay on target

You can hold down to zoom in and lock on to enemies (and in this mode should do so at all times). If you see a name on the vehicle, then it is being flown by a human player. You need to kill ten human players in a single match of Fighter Squadron to earn this trophy.

This is not easy as the game will usually end before most anyone can earn 10 player kills, as a result of 200 points accumulated by your teammates/opponents while killing AI and the objective ships. Teammates/AI also enjoy stealing kills once you lower the health on an opponent, or an opponent nosedives and crashes into the ground before you can finish him off.

    Tips to make this easier:
    1) Hero ships can easily kill enemies by crashing into them, or slowing down so they crash into you
    2) When you aim and shoot, you will see yellow bars highlighted around the enemy ship. Those yellow bars indicate you are doing extra damage, so try to aim correctly.
    3) Do NOT shoot the objective ships because the match will end faster. DO protect your own teams ships by killing all the human players lining up to shoot it, or to write it correctly, lining up for you to shoot down all of them.
    4) If you see an Interceptor or an A-Wing, they are always human players. AI will always takes default ships (X-Wing or Tie Fighters).

This is easiest done with one of the hero ships, the Slave I (Imperial) and Millennium Falcon (Rebellion). The Hero power up bubble will first show up between 9:15 and 8:55 match time. If a teammate (or you) picks up the bubble and crashes, or the ship is destroyed after activating, the hero bubble will reappear again in 30 seconds from the death. With this information, you can wait in the ship select screen screen until approximately 9:25 match time, then you can spawn and get to the center of the map at around the same time the hero power up appears (you have to find it now obviously).

Personally, I believe the Imperial Slave I is far more powerful than the Rebellion Millennium Falcon, because it has a Sensor Jammer ability (which disables enemies from locking on to you for missile tracking) and also has TWO missile abilities (Falcon only has one missile).

Here is a video showing Hero Power Ups locations in Fighter Squadron mode:

  • Do AI kills count?
  • No it must be 10 player kills. Si AI kills doesn't count.
  • This seems difficult, any tips the most I've got in one game is 4
  • How do you lock onto the target or shoot them at all? I must be hopeless at this for I cannot get any kills I see people with 20 plus kills and I'm like WTF Kind of given up on this trophy https://youtu.be/Dmqn4bz0MKo
  • @ #4 to lock on press and hold your L2 button. You'll still need to stay behind your opponent reasonably well to track them.
  • This one is awful. If I'm focusing on non-AI players, I'm hurting my team. And 10 kills is really difficult since the matches are so short. I've gotten to 8, but then we usually win by that point and I've only seen someone break 10 on one occasion.
  • Here is me getting it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7mdbcJCGFg I gave some tips in the description such as when the Imperial Shuttle or Rebel Transport comes in, take out the enemy fighters on them because they will be concerned on the shuttle or transport.
  • Had 9 kills 4 games in a row, this is ridiculous. But I'm enjoying the game type and getting lots of xp from it, so i don't mind playing fighter squadron more anyway
  • Easily done of you can get into the Millenium Falcon or Slave 1.
  • When you lock on the enemy (L2), you should see a name appear above the ship. If you see a name then it's a real player, if there is no name then it is AI. Shoot the down only the ones that have the name showing up. Forget about the ones that have no name. If you can get the Hero then that makes it easier but isn't needed.
  • Exactly what #10 said! Some other things to consider: Make sure you are SUPER aggressive and as fast as possible. Pick your targets wisely. You don't want to waste time on one dogfight. Also stay away from the enemy hero even if you are a hero. It will take too long to take him out and he will kill you quickly if you get too close. Avoid them at all costs! Something else to think about: I spent a lot of time trying to semi focus on the getting the hero power-up and always came up short even after eventually getting the hero. The round I decided to JUST focus on taking out enemies as a regular fighter was the round I got the 10 kills on more. Of course there are different skillsets where a hero pickup will help drastically, but this was my experience.
  • Quite difficult and frustrating this trophy! There should not be any limit to kill the enemy, only time. I had several game of 8 or 9 kills but I still was not enough time! I knew I could do it only with the Millennium I find more efficient than Slave. And when I managed to get the Falcon I finish the game with 15 kills ... so for me the Falcon was the key!
  • Yes #12. I uploaded a video of me getting it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=213fOu_qROo As you can see I wasn't even that aggressive and I wasted some time at the beginning searching for the power up (I know you can watch guides or whatever but I just went for it) and as soon as I became the Falcon I was unstoppable. At the end I even relaxed a bit, maybe could have gone for more than 12 kills I don't know.
  • I had 25 kills, 15 real people, 10 bots and I still didn't get this trophy. I was playing the Death Star DLC if that matters. Does this have to be on the original game only?
  • If you kill enemy players with the Y-wing, B-wing, Tie Bomber & Tie Defender power ups, it can still count as a kill. I highly recommend joining the Rebel Alliance and playing the X-wing fighter, since it gives you a tracking torpedo and a shield to provide protection for a brief period of time. I had 7 player kills, 2 player kills using the Y-wing power up and 1 hero kill, making it a total of 10 player kills using the X-wing. I also had 6 bot kills in the process making it a total of 16. I suggest maps like: Outpost Beta & Graveyard of Giants, because those maps have a wide space and are easier to get kills in the open. Here's my video showing how I got mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uZB_XPMq-E&t=27s Hope this is helpful to all trophy hunters.
  • This is pretty annoying because it's not like I keep dying and can't shoot ships. They just made it too hard to spot where the enemy players are.
  • If you are having trouble with this consider these tips: Slow down! I found out that if you slow your fighter down while firing or chasing an enemy it is much easier to get a kill even without using a missile. Don't waste too much time chasing an enemy or going after ai (the red dots with no player name). Scroll over the red dots until you see a players name & target that one especially if it has low health. Then immediately scroll around looking for another name among the red dots. If you are getting spawn killed it may be best to exit out & join a new lobby. This happened to me on more than one occasion & I'm not sure why games allow that garbage to happen but they do so you may want to bail out. I had a hard time getting real player kills until I used these tips.
  • ...I ended up getting 13 player kills after incorporating these tips & did not need to use a hero ship. Also, you may have more success if you begin the match with teams that are not completely full. This way there will be less player traffic clustered in the middle of the map where anyone is a likely target. Remember to waste little time scanning for players, chasing or evading. If you are going to get taken down just try & take a player with you first.
  • I just picked this game up last week when it was on sale for $10 on PSN for their mid year sale. It came with the season pass so it was hard to pass up. After reviewing the trophy list it seemed like this would be a completely doable platinum... but this trophy is pissing me off. It seems since they nerfed the hero ships this is damn near impossible. I wish they would let you boost in private matches. For those that say that's unfair, well I feel it's unfair to those that didn't get it before the hero ship nerf.
  • Finnaly got this trophy tonight. This video helped me out a lot teaching me some of the mechanics that the game doesn't really tell you about. Just finished a match with 10 kills 15 ships destroyed. Hope this video will help others as well. https://youtu.be/LhDdaa1XCOU
  • I don't get how people can't get this, I always get between 20 and 30 player kills without hero. Sometimes I even get 40 to 50 player kills...
  • #21 You are an elite super dooper class of galactic pilot! Now scrammmm! I also see people getting 30/0 kill/death or even 40/1....it is ridiculous. This is hard as hell, and fucking AI is only making things worse, loosing time finding real people! Eat shit DICE!
