Overview:Introduction:

South of the Circle is a cinematic walking simulator/adventure developed by State of Play Games and released in 2022.  Set in the backdrop of the Cold War, you play as Peter, an academic sent to facilitate the Antarctic Treaty. En route, his plane crashes, and as Peter travels through the snow to find a radio to call for help, he recalls the decisions that led him to his potentially fatal situation.

While the game is pretty on-rails, there are still a few missable trophies, so I have written a walkthrough HERE.

Walkthrough:

Step 1:
Play through the game, watching out for the missable collectible trophies

As South of the Circle has no chapter select, you will want to make sure you're interacting with all of the objects in the game.  Thankfully, there really aren't that many; see Scholar trophy_silver.png for a list (the other three missable trophies will unlock on the way to it).

By the end of the game, you will unlock (in order):

  • Begin the search for help

    Story-related and cannot be missed.

    You will unlock this when you first gain control at the beginning of the game.
  • Start Act 2 of the story

    Story-related and cannot be missed.

    You will unlock this when you enter the Soviet base.
  • Start Act 3 of the story

    Story-related and cannot be missed.

    You will unlock this once you reach the Norwegian base.
  • Fin

     

    Finish the game

  • Discover all the items in the British Base

    MISSABLE

    At the British base, there are eight things you need to investigate (cross.png) for this trophy.  Half of them are needed to progress the story.

    - First Building - upstairs - paper on desk
    - First Building - upstairs - long paper on desk
    - First Building - sleeping quarters - vial on left bunk beds
    - First Building - sleeping quarters - typewriter behind right bunk beds
    - Outside - orange car
    - Second building - radio
    - Second building - map left of radio
    - Second building - car keys
  • Study all the maps

    Story-related and cannot be missed.

    To progress the story, you will need to interact with maps at both the British base ( Sleuth trophy_silver.png ) and the Soviet base.  This trophy will unlock once you've put away the Soviet base map.
  • Play a game of toy soldiers

    MISSABLE

    At the beginning of Act II will be a flashback that takes place in Peter's bedroom. Peter's parents will be having a conversation, so this is timed.

    For this trophy, interact with the toy soldiers next to the bed and knock them all down.
  • Fly Peter's toy plane

    MISSABLE

    At the beginning of Act II will be a flashback that takes place in Peter's bedroom.  Peter's parents will be having a conversation, so this is timed.

    For this trophy, interact with the foot of the bed - there's a toy plane here that you can't really see.  Move the plane around and you'll unlock the trophy.
  • Study every object in the game

    MISSABLE

    Between the other trophies on this list, you will have already studied the majority of the objects in the game.  Below I've replicated the list of other items required, in the order you can interact with them (some of them will be studied to progress the story).
