It's an Endless Possibility! - Introduction:
Sonic is back with his latest adventure. Dr. Eggman has done it again, managing to trap Sonic using a powerful new ray weapon which corrupts the power of the Chaos Emeralds. The ray and corrupted Chaos Emeralds have the unforeseen side-effect of transforming Sonic into a "Werehog" — a beast form with greater strength and abilities — at night.

Sonic Unleashed is the first Sonic game on the PS3 to support trophies and requires your skill, time, patience and luck.

Many sections of this game, including trying to ace all hot dog missions, will be a serious pain and I strongly mean that. If it weren't for the hot dog missions, the rating difficulty would had been cut down to a 5.5. Collecting all 400 medals is another huge hurdle AND you have to deal with a crappy fixed camera in most places.

Beware that there are time-consuming trophies in this game as well. Excluding the medal trophies and the hot dog trophies, "Power Overwhelming" is the major one here. But there's also "Hedgehunk", "Day Tripper", " Get on the Exorcise Bandwagon", "Social Butterfly" & "Hungry Hungry Hedgehog".

In this trophy guide and roadmap, I'm going to show you the greatest road of earning your platinum. There are many ways to get this platinum in this game, but this is the best way.

Gameplay:
If you are a fan of God of War then apart from having to control the crappy camera and having to balance on thin poles, you should find Sonic the Werehog levels very easy. Yes, Sonic the Werehog is virtually Kratos from God of War. Even his night levels are very similar to God of War.

Sonic the Hedgehog, though, has very fast and speedy gameplay. If you are playing the levels for the first time, it will be trial and error. You can go very fast and before you can even blink, you will die. Play the demo available on PSN to get a taste of how Sonic Unleashed is with Sonic the Hedgehog.

Questions & Suggestions:
I am open to hear any questions and suggestions for this trophy guide and the Sonic Unleashed game itself.

Walkthrough:

1 - Complete the Story
The first thing you should do is complete the story mode. There are no missable trophies, so just complete this first. Do not attempt any HOT DOG missions or start collecting all souvenirs before you complete story. Completing the story will unlock more souvenirs for you to purchase as well as all the acts and hubs, including Eggmanland.

Try and upgrade Sonic's abilities as much as you can while completing the story. You can gain EXP by defeating enemies and collecting those yellow orbs or eating food. You should be able to upgrade Sonic the Hedgehog's abilities fairly easily, but the Werehog will take much, much longer. There is an Unlimited Rings trick that you can use if you wish to grind this one out (see the Power Overwhelming trophy for more info).

2 - Upgrade Sonic's Abilities
If you fully upgraded Sonic and Werehog before the story completion, move on to the next step.

If you haven't, then I highly recommend you do it NOW. You will need an unbeatable werehog and a very speedy hedgehog to finish out the next steps. The fastest way to upgrade is with the Unlimited Rings trick (see the Power Overwhelming trophy for more info).

3 - Complete All Stages
You might want to get this out of the way first. You must complete every single stage in the game. This does not include the townspeople's missions. See the Day Tripper and Hard Day's Night trophies for more information.

4 - Hot Dog Missions
THIS is the hardest part of Sonic Unleashed. You must complete all the hot dog missions in every location in the game. But here's my trick (you don't have to do this way though). START OFF WITH EGGMANLAND FIRST. You'll be looking at me saying, "Are you crazy?!" No, I'm not. If you manage to ace Eggmanland, then you'll find any other level much easier to do. Eggmanland combines all the previous level features (except Adabat when you have to run on water) like pole balancing, Sonic riding on a vehicle, Quick Time Events, swinging from pole to pole...everything is there you name it. If you manage to complete Eggmanland three times and get Hard Boiled, not only will you have the hardest trophy in the game, but you will also be super familiar with all the features in the game.

After completing Eggmanland's trials, go straight to Adabat's. Complete Adabat, then finish off the rest in any order you like.

I highly recommend you go on YouTube and look at Speedruns. Many levels have some secret shortcuts. And in some day missions, you must use them in order to pass.

5 - Get the "Easy" Trophies
You did it! You've passed the Hot Dog Missions hurdle! Now you should find getting the rest of the trophies a breeze. You should now be able to close out the following, if you haven't already:

  • Got all food, easier now that you have all the chili dogs from the Hot Dog Missions (Hungry Hungry Hedgehog)
  • Get all souvenirs (That's Enough, Seriously)
  • Special mission trophies (Hedgehunk, I Ain't Afraid of No Ghost)
  • Become BFFs with Chip (BFFs)
  • Level-specific trophies (Getting the Hang of Things, Creature of the Night, Ace Pilot, Blue Meteor, Speeding Ticket)

The only trophy out of these you may find a little difficult is Ace Pilot. But you'll get the hang of it the more you play it...

6 - Collect All Medals
Now to do the second hardest part in the game. Collecting all sun and moon medals. It's gonna be tough, you will need to die here and there to collect them all, and you will have to go stage by stage and hub by hub to get them all. Please note some mini-missions from the local townspeople contain medals, so you must complete their missions.

  • Collected half of the Sun Medals

    See "Half Moon".

  • Collected all Sun Medals

    See "Full Moon".

  • Collected half of the Moon Medals

These trophies unlock if you have collected 100 Sun and 100 Moon medals. These trophies are story related and cannot be missed. This is because you cannot progress at one point through story mode without collecting more than 100 sun and moon medals each. Look at the "Full Moon" trophy for the location of the medals.

  • Collected all Moon Medals

Here you have to collect all 400 medals (200 Sun, 200 Moon) throughout the game. Some of these medals are well-hidden. There are some things you need to know:

    • All mainstream levels (Story levels) except Eggmanland have at least one medal.
    • Even BOSS levels (excluding the Eggmanland bosses) have medals for you to collect.
    • All hubs and entrance stages (excluding Eggmanland) have medals scattered and hidden around.
    • Professor Pickle has 18 medals you need to get from him. To do that, you must give him souvenirs as an exchange.
    • Extra levels that are not from the story also have medals.
    • Some townspeople mini-missions have medals for you to collect in them.

This task of collecting them all shouldn't take you longer than 8-10 hours if you use this video guide: LINK

Thank you ShadnicK826 for the video guide.

  • Upgraded all of Sonic the Hedgehog's stats to their maximum levels

  • Achieved an S Rank with Sonic the Hedgehog for the first time

When you complete a level, you get graded. You can get either an E, D, C, B, A or S. You need an S at least once to get this trophy using Sonic the Hedgehog. The recommended stage to get this trophy easily is Windmill Isle Day Act 2. Aim for the "Blue Meteor" trophy while doing this if you haven't gotten it already. Don't lose a life, don't get hit by any enemy, don't lose your rings, destroy as many enemies and finish the level as quickly as possible. You should get a S rank if you do so.

  • Achieved an S Rank with Sonic the Werehog for the first time

Similar to the "Getting the Hang of Things" trophy, but this time with Sonic the Werehog. Getting this trophy is actually easier to get. Just kill almost every enemy you see and don't die throughout the level and this trophy is yours. The key is that you DON'T die. But honestly, don't replay a single level for this trophy until you have completed the story. If you still haven't got the trophy by then, replay the level "Windmill Isle Night Act 1".

  • Completed all missions for a townsperson

All you have to do is complete all the missions set for one townsperson in any hub. You can get this trophy while aiming for the "Hedgehunk" trophy or the "I Ain't Afraid of No Ghost" trophy, but if you want a quicker way to do this:

    • Travel to Apotos after you have received the camera from Professor Pickle in Spagonia.
    • Make sure you are Sonic the Werehog (Make sure it's nighttime).
    • Take a picture directly towards the Ice Cream Man (he's possessed by Dark Gaia).
    • Defeat 15 monsters.
  • Have mastered the Stomp technique

When you enter Holoska's Entrance Stage during the day for the first time a cutscene will trigger showing you how to get the Stomp upgrade. Just collect some rings, then use your ring energy to get to the other side and grab the upgrade. Then perform the upgrade, by doing a high jump () and then hit .

  • Have mastered the Wall Jump technique

YOU MUST HAVE LEARNED THE STOMP TECHNIQUE IN ORDER TO GET THIS UPGRADE. When you enter the Spagonia's entrance stage during the day, go to the very right and you will see a wall with a huge gap at the bottom for Sonic to crawl under. Hold and move forward under the wall. A small cutscene will trigger, showing the upgrade. Use the pulley (seen in the picture below) and once up top, use a homing dash to hit the spring then time a stomp attack onto the switch, dropping the lasers. Get the upgrade and perform a wall jump between the two walls.

  • Have mastered the Air Boost technique

YOU NEED TO HAVE MASTERED THE WALL JUMP TECHNIQUE TO GET THIS UPGRADE. When you enter the Chun-nan's entrance stage during the day, move forward a bit and the cutscene will trigger, showing you where this upgrade is. You will find two close walls on the left hand side with a trail of rings going up. Perform a wall jump to the top and grab the upgrade. Then do a high jump () and hold to perform the Air Boost.

  • Have mastered the Lightspeed Dash technique

YOU NEED TO HAVE MASTERED THE AIR BOOST TECHNIQUE TO GET THIS UPGRADE. Once you enter Shamar's entrance stage during the day, a small cutscene will show you where the next upgrade is. Find your way towards the upgrade (the picture below will give you a clue on where to go). Once you have grabbed the upgrade, just stand near the nice huge series of rings and just hit . Sonic will fly following the trail of rings to enter the Dragon Road Day Stage.

  • Have attained Combat Level 5

    See "Thrasher"

  • Have attained Combat Level 10

    See "Thrasher"

  • Have attained Combat Level 15

    See "Thrasher"

  • Have attained Combat Level 20

Just reach the combat level indicated with Sonic the Werehog. To grab all these trophies, upgrade your Werehog's combat level to "MAX" (level 20, which will unlock the "Thrasher" trophy). You need EXP to upgrade. See trophy "Power Overwhelming" below for more information on this.

  • Talked to all townspeople

Another time-consuming task; you have to talk to every townsperson (and robots in Eggmanland) to unlock this trophy. You must complete the story first to unlock every townsperson. There are a total of 98 townspeople (including robots) for you to talk to. You only need to talk to them once. You can check your progress in Pickle's lab in the directory on the bookshelf (assuming you have bought it first from Spagonia shop). You can see the full list of townspeople in the Guide Supplements Section.

  • Got every type of food

You do not need to actually eat every single piece of food, merely purchase one of each. Each continent's shop has different foods you can buy. Wentos also has some food you can only buy from him, but it is random each time you see him.

Getting at least ONE chili dog in each Hot dog vendor (where you do your hot dog missions) is important as they count towards this trophy. *Yes, that means you must complete the Eggmanland Hot dog mission at least once to get this trophy!* You can see the full list of foods you need to get under the Guide Supplements Section.

  • Cleared Act 1 of Tornado Defense without taking damage

This is not that hard, but it requires a bit of your patience. During the story, you'll fly to Spagonia using Tails' plane. THAT is the level that you must not take any damage in. Make sure your Shield is always 100% from start to finish in the level. Energy levels don't matter. The combos don't matter. The grade you get at the end of the level doesn't matter. Take your time, pressing the button prompts on the screen.

It's not that hard until you finally face Eggman. When he says "Go! Fire all weapons!" that's when everything goes crazy. You must be extremely fast, hitting the wrong button or being too slow may end your chance of getting this trophy.

If you fail this, you can't replay this level again until you finally unlock the World Map which can be found in Spagonia's level select.

  • Cleared all Sonic the Hedgehog stages

This doesn't include townspeople missions. All you have to do is clear all of Sonic's day missions in the game. This does NOT include the DLC levels. You cannot get this trophy until you have completed the story even though you've finished ALL the stages. Here is the full list of the extra day stages you must complete:

    • Windmill Isle Act 3 [Apotos]
    • Savannah Citadel Act 2 [Mazuri]
    • Savannah Citadel Act 3 [Mazuri]
    • Rooftop Run Act 2 [Spagonia]
    • Rooftop Run Act 3 [Spagonia]
    • Dragon Road Act 2 [Chun-nan]
    • Dragon Road Act 3 [Chun-nan]
    • Cool Edge Act 2 [Holoska]
    • Arid Sands Act 2 [Shamar]
    • Skyscraper Scamper Act 2 [Empire City]
    • Jungle Joyride Act 2 [Adabat]
    • Jungle Joyride Act 3 [Adabat]

Please note - I'm not including the stages that are main story levels. It's best that you complete the story first THEN aim for this trophy and look at this list.

  • Cleared all Sonic the Werehog stages

This does not include the townspeople's missions. Similar to "Day Tripper", all you have to do is clear all the night missions in the game. Again, this does NOT include the DLC levels. Here is a list of the levels you must complete:

    • Windmill Isle Act 2 [Apotos]
    • Savannah Citadel Act 2 [Mazuri]
    • Dragon Road Act 2 [Chun-nan]
    • Jungle Joyride Act 2 [Adabat]

Please note - I'm not including the stages that are main story levels. It's best that you complete the story first THEN aim for this trophy and look at this list.

  • Exorcised everyone

Once you have acquired the camera from P. Pickle, you'll be able to do special night exorcism missions. Travel around the hubs as Sonic the Werehog and talk to certain townspeople. If you see one acting all depressed and has purple stuff coming out of their heads, this means you can perform an exorcism on them by pressing Triangle. You'll then need to just beat the mission by destroying all the enemies.

    • There is only 1 townsperson at night that needs exorcism in each hub.
    • Spagonia and Apotos are different, however - Spagonia has 2 and Apotos has 3 townspeople that need exorcism.
    • Eggmanland does not have a townsperson in the hub (except that Hot Dog vendor), therefore do not visit this hub while aiming for this trophy.
  • Cleared all hot dog stand missions in Apotos

  • Cleared all hot dog stand missions in Eggmanland

These trophies are the hardest in the game. I RECOMMEND YOU UPGRADE SONIC & WEREHOG TO THE FULLEST LEVELS BEFORE ATTEMPTING. Each continent has a vendor with special missions for you to buy and complete. You must have rings in order to do these missions. The higher the level, the more it costs to attempt the trial. If you fail any hot dog mission you'll have to rebuy AND restart the level from the beginning. Remember to take your time on some of the missions here. You do not want to almost reach the end of the stage and then make a mistake that will cost you.

For every continent except Eggmanland, here is the format for the daytime missions with Sonic the Hedgehog:

    • Time Trial (Lvl 1, 2 & 3) - Complete the stage within a destinated time. Time to complete gets shorter in the next level.
    • Battle Trial (Lvl 1, 2 & 3) - Destroy a certain number of robots. The number increases as you reach the next level.
    • Ring Trial (Lvl 1, 2 & 3) - Get a certain number of rings before hitting the goal ring. Number increases as you get to the next level.

For every continent except Eggmanland, here is the format for the nighttime missions with Sonic the Werehog:

    • Time Trial (Lvl 1, 2 & 3) - Complete the stage within a destinated time. Time to complete gets shorter in the next level.
    • Survival (Lvl 1, 2 & 3) - Complete the level without dying. The health meter shortens as you progress to the next level.

There are 9 day mission trials and 6 night mission trials PER continent except Eggmanland. Eggmanland only has Time Trial levels 1, 2 and 3 (which is awesome!).

    Speedrun:

  • Bought a product from Wentos

After visiting Spagonia for the first time, Wentos randomly appears in any continent you have unlocked except Eggmanland. Day and Night does not affect his appearance.

When you first bump into Wentos, he will be scared to talk to you and flee off to a different continent. You will need to find him two more times until he finally stops running away and has the courage to talk to you. That's when you can finally buy from him. Simply purchase any product from him to unlock this trophy.

  • Gave a souvenir to the Professor

Purchase any souvenir from any continent store and hand it over to the Professor Pickle. See "That's Enough, Seriously" for more information.

  • Gave all souvenirs to the Professor

There are a total of 45 souvenirs to collect. You can get the souvenirs only in the continent stores or from Wentos. It's highly recommended that you DON'T start collecting souvenirs until you have completed the story because some souvenirs unlock after completing the story, including all of Eggmanland's souvenirs. Make sure when you go to a store that you buy every single product there except the food.

Then the most frustrating part: Wentos. Wentos disappears to a different random continent once you finish talking to him. You have to keep chasing him, as he sells different souvenirs on different continents. Remember he never visits Eggmanland so don't bother trying to see if he's in that hub.  To see your progress on how many souvenirs you have collected, you can go to the Professor's room and look in the Encyclopedia.

Once you have bought all the souvenirs, give them all to the professor and the trophy is yours.

  • Cleared the Louie Montaine missions in Empire City and the Ana missions in Mazuri

Please note you must have unlocked the Mazuri, Shamar & Empire City hubs AND have completed Skyscraper Scamper Day and Night mainstream levels before attempting to get this trophy. It will take a long time to get this trophy. You can do the Louie Missions or the Ana missions first. Your choice, you will get the trophy either way. But you MUST do them both.

    Ana's Missions

    • From the World Map, enter the Shamar hub and talk to Ana. She will ask you to find her Prince Charming. She'll also then wander off to look for her Prince Charming herself.
    • Travel to Spagonia and talk to Ana there. She'll then travel again to Shamar.
    • Travel to Shamar and find Sumaid the tour guide (he is located just outside the entrance stage gate). Talk to him and Sonic will make Sumaid meet Ana. Ana then found her Prince Charming. However Sumaid gets worried on who would take his place as his tour guide.
    • Find Sadiq who is near one of the bridges in the corner of the hub. He will gladly take over Sumaid's spot.
    • Talk to Ana and Sumaid again and they will leave Shamar.
    • Travel to Mazuri and talk to the father, Kwami, and he will want you to complete some missions. (If you haven't done any of his missions - transform to the Werehog and talk to him to begin the first of his missions.)
    • Eventually, Ana and Sumaid will appear in Mazuri (at night at first), and they are in trouble. Kwami won't bless their love, so Ana will send you to convince him. Tell him that he is wrong, he needs to trust Ana, then request to test them. After doing so, talk to Ana for another mission. Kwami will be convinced.

    Louie Montaine's Missions
REMINDER: You must have completed the Skyscraper Scamper Day & Night mainstream levels first in order to do his missions.

    • First, meet Louie Montaine in the Empire City Hub.
    • Make sure you talk to him during the day and a mission will begin.
    • After completing that mission, fast forward to night time. Talk to Louie and a night mission will begin.
    • Complete that night mission, then switch to day, then switch to night. One more mission to go. Complete it and all Louie Montaine's missions are complete.

When you have completed all Louie Montaine's and Ana's missions the trophy will unlock.

  • Cleared the Marcantonio missions in Spagonia

The trophy description is half-wrong, because you have to do a mission in Adabat. For you to net this trophy, you must have unlocked the Spagonia and Adabat hubs. Talk to Marcantonio during the day in Spagonia (he'll be near the Entrance Stage Gate) and he'll give you a mission involving ghosts. The day mission can be hard though. Take your time, stay in the middle and don't get hit by the spikes.

But that's not all. When you have completed the Spagonia mission, Marcantonio travels to Adabat. Travel to Adabat (make sure it's night) and talk to him again. He'll give you another mission of tagging two ghosts. Complete it and the trophy's yours.

Note about the videos: The Marcantonio missions will not be on the stage select screen on the world map if you haven't completed them.

  • BFFs

    Became best friends with Chip.

Purchase the food that he likes and give them to Chip to eat. You can give them to Chip by selecting that particular piece of food from your inventory, and select the option "Give to Chip". He will react happily saying the food you gave him was delicious...or he will react with a "meh" and that tells you he hates the food. I recommend you get the Sundae Supreme which you can purchase from Apotos' store. Keep purchasing the item and keep giving the ice cream to Chip until the trophy unlocks.

  • Reached the Goal of Arid Sands, Act 1 as Sonic within 2'50"

Self-explanatory...learn how to use the shortcuts and when you're ready, go for it. You must take almost all the shortcuts in this stage with no mistakes in order to net this trophy. Make sure Sonic (Hedgehog form) is upgraded to the maximum to make things easier (credit to SonicJGB for the video):

  • Achieved 10,000 total combos

This trophy will come naturally but it will take some time. You can only get combo hits while playing as Sonic the Werehog. You need to get a culmulative total of 10,000 hit combos overall, during the whole game.

There is a "strong" chance you may not get this trophy before the story's completed, but don't worry. There is no need to grind. When working on the Hot Dog Trophies the trophy will most likely unlock then. Another way is to just keep replaying any Werehog level with enemies and you will get this trophy in no time.

  • Collected 5,000 total rings

It is impossible for you NOT to get this trophy after you have finished the story. Each ring you gain will be counted, even if you die. So this trophy can be earned during the story and cannot be missed. Do not look around for rings purposely as this will come naturally before the story is completed.

  • Defeated 1,000 enemies

You'll get this trophy before restoring the fifth continent. This trophy comes naturally and it cannot be missed.

  • Reached the Goal of Windmill Isle, Act 2 as Sonic within 2'35"

Self-explanatory. However, this trophy is quite easy. You don't really need to upgrade Sonic to net this trophy. Just don't make any mistakes and just boost throughout the whole level. Try and aim for the "Getting the Hang of Things" trophy while doing this if you haven't gotten that trophy already.
