Solo: Islands of the Heart is a personal journey you will take to learn about love and the consequences of your decisions and opinions based on it. Throughout the game, you’ll be tasked with completing a variety of puzzles to light up lighthouses and Totems. Each time you activate a Totem, you’ll be asked a question. You don’t have to answer honestly if you don’t want to, but you will get more out of the game if you do. The dialogue with your ghost partner will alter based on your answers to the questions and you’ll be forced to confront your decisions face to face with him/her. At the end of the game, you’ll get one final judgement call that will give you a summary of yourself based on your journey in the game. From there, you can decide if being with your partner is the right decision, or if maybe going forward solo is the way to go. The decision will be up to you.
The two trophies listed as glitched in the overview are not listed as such for being game-breaking, but more that if you miss anything required for them, the clean-up may prove to be easier than intended.
For A Heart Full of Music, you need to pick up 5 songs period. If you miss any on your initial playthrough, you can pick up the same songs on your second run and they will still count towards the 5. So if you picked up the first 3 but missed the last 2, you can pick up the first 2 again and the trophy will unlock.
For Making New Friends, you need to feed 16 animals. If you miss any on your initial playthrough, you only need to feed the animals you missed on your second run to get the trophy. The progress for this does not reset when you create a new save file.
Step 1: Complete the Introduction and the first Archipelago
The steps are being separated into individual steps so you can make sure you get everything you need before moving on. You can freely roam each opened area of each archipelago while you are there, but as soon as you leave, you cannot go back.
In the first archipelago, there are 4 Animals you need to feed for Making new friends, 1 song to pick up for A heart full of music, and of course the flower garden and Puchuchu. You will also have multiple opportunities to get Gotcha! so make sure you pet one mole as soon as you get a chance. The red seagull and sapling you need for Helping out are also on the first archipelago so be sure to check out that trophy before starting as there are only two opportunities to take a picture of the red seagull needed. Be sure to also interact with all the ghost partners you come across, be it if they’re on a swing, at a fountain, etc.
If you’d like to follow along a video guide for this section, please see Wind passes by.
After this step, you will earn:
Could we wait a bit longer?
Together, just us.
Caring for your mind.
Wind passes by.
Step 2: Complete the second Archipelago
On the second archipelago, you’ll need to feed 5 Animals, pick up 3 Songs, reunite two sets of Puchuchu, water one flower garden (there are two but only one is needed), and you’ll also be taking a picture of a fish and giving it to the sapling for Giving, not receiving. You’ll also have more opportunities to get Gotcha! if you didn’t get it in Step 1, so if you’re still missing that one, just keep an eye out for the moles. Make sure you’re also continuing to interact with all the ghost partners you come across.
The location of everything required is listed under their respective trophies, but if you prefer to use a video guide, please see Building bridges. for one.
After this step, you will have earned:
Home sweet home.
Giving, not receiving.
Caring for the world.
Step 3: Complete the third Archipelago and get both endings
You do not need to do two separate playthroughs for both endings. When you finish one playthrough, just hit continue from the main menu and you’ll start back at the end of the game and will be able to make the opposite choice than you did the first time.
For the archipelago itself, you’ll be feeding the last 7 animals and finding the last song. You’ll also be helping to reunite two sets of Puchuchu and water the flower garden. As long as you were interacting with all of the ghost partners throughout the game, Tireless seeking will unlock about midway through this section.
The locations of the animals, the song, the Puchuchu, and the flower garden are all listed under their respective trophies, but if you prefer to use a video guide, please see To stick together.
After this step, you will earn:
I missed you!
Caring for yourself.
To stick together.
A heart full of music.
Making new friends.
