Introduction:
Sly Cooper makes his long awaited début on the PS3 continuing the story from Sly Cooper 3, released nearly 8 years ago. Despite the long wait and change in developers, the Sly Cooper franchise is just as good if not better than it's predecessors. With a mix of old favourites and a slew of new characters to love, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time is a great addition and sequel to the classic PS2 franchise.
Walkthrough:
Step 1: Complete the game and enjoy the story/atmosphere!
Play through the game and enjoy this long-awaited sequel in the Sly Cooper franchise. During this step you will get every story-related trophy and probably a number of others. You'll want to work on the "Navigate Like Drake" trophy, for opening every map in every episode. Each time you enter an area (including hideouts and hub worlds), be sure to press the Select button to bring up the map. Some job areas have multiple maps (like the boss battle at the end of Episode 1), so be sure to also bring up the map after sitting through a loading screen during jobs.
Step 2: Collectables
This step can be combined with Step 1 but I highly suggest enjoying the game first before following the collectable guides. In this step you will want to work on gathering all of the collectibles. There are a total of 120 bottles (30 for each Episode except "Paris"), 5 safes (one for each Episode except "Paris"), 60 treasures (12 for each Episode except "Paris") and 60 Sly Masks (5 in "Paris", 11 in "Turning Japanese", 11 in "Go West Young Raccoon", 11 in "Clan of the Cave Raccoon", 11 in "Of Mice and Mechs" and 11 in "Forty Thieves"). As an added note, there is a Sly Mask in every arcade machine in the game, meaning there are 6 masks that can only be obtained by getting it inside of the arcade game.
This is also the step where you should purchase all of the remaining powers/abilities within the ThiefNet at any hideout. For quick coins, just go out into any hub world and pickpocket anybody with a glowing package around their waist. Simply breaking boxes/objects is inefficient for obtaining coins, as pickpocketing those with glowing packages can net you upwards of 100-200-500 coins at a time. Doing this will also help towards the "Hassan Would be Proud" trophy, as you need to pickpocket every type of treasure in the game of which there are 18 (3 in each Episode including Paris).
Step 3: Arcade Machines
In this step, you'll be beating the high scores on all of the arcade machines in the game of which there are 6. Having gotten the Sly Masks within these arcade machines earlier, you should have a good grasp of how to play each individual arcade game since you have a little practice under your belt now. After having gotten the high score on your final arcade machine and losing or winning the game, you will obtain the "8-Bit Bentley Style" trophy.
Step 4: Miscellaneous
Here you'll want to do everything from replaying jobs to completing different objectives in the hub world and even using some unlockables in the "Extras" menu for certain trophies. Since you should have all the Sly Masks by this point, go to the "Extras" menu and equip either Ratchet's Wrench or Cole's Amp and defeat an enemy for the "Hero Tech" trophy. It doesn't matter what type of enemy it is (it can even be a spider). Next, go for the hub world trophies like "Ancient Warfare 3" and "Airborne". Finally, replay certain missions and go through it perfectly (either not losing health or missing a button) for trophies like "Hubba Hubba" and "Get to the Chopper".
Step 5: Cleanup
In this step you will be cleaning up any trophies that you may have missed. After this Step you will have a new shiny Platinum Trophy. After you've unlocked the Platinum Trophy, be sure to replay the final boss, then go to unlockables, cinematics and credits to view the "secret ending". Enjoy!!!
Note for Players with the PS3 and Vita versions of this game:
If you own a Vita, you can cut down your time searching for bottles, treasures and masks drastically with the feature on the Vita version of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time named "AR Treasures". To successfully use this feature, you must turn the "AR Server" in the options of the PS3 version of the game to "On". After that, select "AR Treasures" on the menu of the Vita version of the game. Note: Even if the AR Sever is set to On, if you aren't in an area of the game where you're in control of a character on the PS3 version, the connection between the Vita and PS3 will not be successful. For example, you can't connect to the AR Sever while in a hideout, but you can in a hub world. Once you are connected, press the L button on the Vita and search around for treasures in real-time. The treasures are indicated by bright orange silhouettes of whatever the item is whether it be a bottle, treasure or mask.
This feature works in hub worlds as well as during jobs and all of the collectables will be shown no matter how far away they are from you. If you look around during a job and don't see any orange mask silhouettes, you've most likely gotten all of them within that job and are missing another mask somewhere else (if the job requires visiting multiple areas or buildings, you need to check them individually).
