What do I need to in order to get 100% in Skylanders Giants?

Besides the Skylanders Giants game disc, in order to get the platinum trophy in this game you are going to need: A Skylanders "portal", an AIR type Skylander (swirl symbol), a LIFE type Skylander (leaf symbol), a UNDEAD Skylander (skull symbol) and a GIANT Skylander. The three figure game pack comes with all of these items but there is also a "Portal Owners" pack that only includes the game disc and Tree Rex the Giant LIFE type Skylander.

Road Map

Step 1 - Complete the game on any difficulty

Simply play through the game on a difficulty of your choosing, I recommend Cyclops Crusher (Medium) because you will need to have some skills to be able to get through Nightmare difficulty. During this step you should be able to knock out the majority of the trophies including all but one of the story trophies and 80% of the level specific trophies. I recommend sticking to one Skylander for this playthrough in order to get Upgrade Uniter, and To the Max. Keep an eye out for the ship parts and story scrolls for Seeker Adept and Hint Scholar. Also go ahead and go for Great Gladiator! during this playthrough as it will help level up your Skylander faster.

Step 2 - Clean up

I put this as step 2 as it is a fairly quick clean up and is easier done on your low difficulty save file rather than on Nightmare. You are going to want to get Completionist, A New Hero, Skystones Strategist, Soul Surfer, and Clean Jersey. There is a good chance that you may of missed some level specific trophies like Keepin' Cool, Freebot Isn't Free, Pedal to the Metal, Autogyro Pyrotechnician, and Talker in a Strange Land as well and now is the best time to get them. After this step you should have every trophy except Nightmare Avenger, Spend that Loot! and the Platinum.

Step 3 - Nightmare

Go to the main menu and start a new game, you will notice that there is a new difficulty called Nightmare unlocked. Play through it until the end and Nightmare Avenger will be yours. You will be able to easily get Spend That Loot! during this step as well if you are playing with your fully upgraded level 15 Skylander. Nightmare difficulty is much harder than easy mode but it is still a fairly easy game. Try to avoid any unnecessary fights and areas to speed this trophy along. Make sure to move carefully while in battle, in Nightmare difficulty your Skylander can get KO'ed in a single hit at times. Having a good amount of Skylanders probably around 4-5 will make this playthrough a little easier, think of each Skylander as a extra life. If your main Skylander gets killed cheaply you can finish the level with a different one, which saves a lot of time by not having to replay any levels.

While it is recommended to have plenty of Skylanders this game is very do-able with just a couple, and you are not required to have more than one. After defeating the last boss you will unlock Nightmare Avenger and NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nightmare Avenger

Complete the Story Mode on Nightmare difficulty

After beating the game on Easy go to the main menu and start a new game, Nightmare difficulty will now be unlocked. Play through the entire game and defeat the final boss for this to unlock. To make this trophy easier, avoid any unnecessary fights and skip through the cutscenes. It is also a good idea to have a few different Skylanders in case your main Skylander gets KO'ed, I highly recommend having at least 4 Skylanders but it is not required. What you want to do this playthrough is try not to get hit and you are golden.
Completionist

Earn 3 Stars on any Adventure Level
This is easily done on the first chapter of the game. Load up the first Chapter from chapter select and pause the game when the level loads. From the Pause menu go to Objectives, You can now view the list of objectives for this level, you will need to complete them all in order to get this trophy. You are not required to get them all in a single playthrough of the chapter, you can try if you want to, but it is easier if you get all of the collectible objectives done and then replay the level for the speed run. Elemental Explorer

Unlock your first Elemental area
Easily done on Chapter 1, go to the first elemental area which can be found on the left before you leave the caves, and put your Tree Rex Skylander (the giant one that came with the game) onto the portal to unlock this area.
A New Hero

Complete 1 Heroic Challenge
After Chapter 2 talk to Cali on the ship. Select whichever heroic challenge she has for you. Complete the challenge within the time limit to unlock this trophy as well as a stat boost for your Skylander. You may need to level up a little bit before you can complete the challenge as they vary in difficulty.

Complete your first arena challenge
After Chapter 3, Brock will be on the right side of the ship. Talk to him to view the Arena Challenges, you will notice three different arenas, each with 7 challenges. Only the first arena will be unlocked after Chapter 3. The additional arenas unlock after Chapters 7 and 12. This trophy unlocks upon completion of the first challenge.
Great Gladiator!

Complete all 21 Arena Challenges
After Chapter 3, Brock will be on the right side of the ship. Talk to him to view the Arena Challenges, you will notice three different arenas, each with 7 challenges. Only the first arena will be unlocked after Chapter 3. The additional arenas unlock after Chapters 7 and 12. Complete all 21 challenges and the trophy will unlock.
Elemental Enthusiast

Chapter 1 - Open all the Elemental areas

You will need the Skylander types mentioned in the Roadmap in order to get this trophy, simply unlock all three areas and the trophy is yours. The first area is at the end of the cave to the left, it requires a LIFE Skylander. The second area is right outside of the exit of the cave all the way to the left it can be hard to spot because you have to backtrack a couple of steps in order for the camera to view it, this area requires an AIR Skylander. The final area of Chapter 1 at the base of the bamboo structure after destroying the first chain and crossing the bride, run down and towards the left around the small building and you will see it, this area requires an UNDEAD Skylander. The trophy should unlock after accessing the third area.
Chain Champ

Chapter 2 - Complete the Chain Pull Feat of Strength

At the beginning of the Chapter switch to your Giant Skylander, smash through the 5 walls that are blocking your path and then defeat the monsters in the small open area. Before using the jump-pad go to the left. Lift the boulder with , throw the boulder and walk to the chain. You will now perform a Feat of Strength by pulling the chain in with . The trophy will unlock after the chain is pulled all the way in.
Log Lifter

Chapter 3 - Complete the Log Lift Feat of Strength
After Brock collapses the bridge immediately go down and to the left until you fall into a lower part of the map. If you continue walking left through the two rocks logs will fall and block your path, switch to your Giant Skylander and lift the logs by pressing repeatedly. The trophy will unlock when your path is clear.
Skystone Sampler

Chapter 4 - Collect all of the Skystones
Just explore the area thoroughly and accept every characters challenge to play Skystones, defeat every character in this chapter at Skystones to unlock this trophy.
Snowman Slammer

Chapter 5 - Destroy 7 snowmen
There are 10 snowmen on this chapter, 5 of which are in close proximity to each other towards the beginning of the chapter. The rest are all in pretty much plain site throughout the rest of the chapter. Destroy 7/10 of the snowmen and the trophy will unlock.
Autogyro Pyrotechnician

Chapter 6 - Destroy all the Arkeyan Autogyros

This is one of the harder trophies on the game, you are required to destroy all of the helicopters while you are riding around on the robot. There are smaller helicopters to destroy but these do not count for the trophy so focus on the big orange ones. This will take a few tries. Most of the helicopters are going to be flying at you and are very easy to destroy but there is a helicopter right at the beginning of the level, one right after you learn how to use the robot's shockwave and one after each of the two running around sections that are tricky to hit. Learn how they move and where they are at and this trophy is yours.
Talker in a Strange Land

Chapter 7 - Talk to all of the Wilikins

Simply talk to all of the Wilikins in the Chapter, make sure you speak to all of the Wilikins including the ones that interact with you in cut scenes as you must talk to them with for it to count. There are also two Wilikins in two separate cave areas in this chapter, make sure you do not overlook them.
Cannon Confounder

Chapter 8 - Complete the level without getting directly hit by a cannon
This is easy to do, just take your time and use your fastest Skylander. The trophy will unlock towards the end of the level.
Kaos Buster

Chapter 9 - Destroy 10 Kaos Bust Statues
The Kaos Bust statues are small statues that can be destroyed by attacking them, they are usually surrounded by other destroyable objects and are scattered throughout the chapter. They are very easy to find so you shouldn't have any troubles with this trophy.
Mine Menace

Chapter 10 - Shoot down 10 mines
You should get this one naturally during the Chapter, simply shoot down 10 mines with the ships gun and presto. The trophy will unlock after you shot down your 10th mine.
Pipe Petard

Chapter 11 - Damage Drill-X by throwing a pipe at him

Chapter 11 has a boss fight at the end of the chapter. The Boss's name is Drill-X and he is a big singing robot. In order to get this trophy you must switch to a Giant Skylander while fighting Drill-X, you will notice two pieces of pipe sticking out of the ground in front of Drill-X simply pick one up with and throw it at Drill-X. This trophy will unlock after the pipe damages him.
Hut Wrecker

Chapter 12 - Destroy 3 enemy huts with boulders Giants can lift
There are two areas in this chapter that will have enemies coming out of huts and, conveniently, these areas have boulders in them. Switch to your Giant Skylander and pick up a boulder with , while you are holding the boulder the hut that you have to destroy will start blinking, throw the boulder at the hut to destroy it. The first hut is located towards the beginning of the level, after the fight with the small robot enemy. The second and third huts are right after you go by the Trappe house, there will be a required fight in order to get into a cave and the huts will be on the left and right of the cave entrance. Use the two boulders in the area to destroy the huts, the trophy will unlock after the huts have been destroyed.
Column Crusher

Chapter 13 - Destroy all the columns in the second trial
Simply destroy all of the columns in the second trial either by smashing them with a giant or knocking them over with your regular attacks. The trophy will unlock once all columns have been destroyed.
Pedal to the Metal

Chapter 14 - Collect all 16 speed boosts in "The Long Haul" section
After the third area that you have to solve puzzles in is the long hall area, make sure to collect every boost power-up that you see. As long as you follow the path that is marked with coins you will easily be able to get all 16 speed boosts. I recommend not using any boost in this area, as you will fly slower and it will be easier to control your jet. There is also a counter on the side of the screen that will tell you how many boosts out of sixteen that you have collected. When the counter displays 16/16, the trophy will unlock.
Freebot Isn't Free

Chapter 15 - Defeat Freebot in a game of Skystones
Freebot is hiding towards the beginning of the chapter on a lower platform between the first spike traps, jump off the side of the map towards the screen. You will now be by a wall in the side of the cliff, destroy it with your Giant Skylander to find Freebot. Defeat him in Skystones and the trophy will unlock.
Keepin' Cool

Chapter 16 - Complete the chapter without taking damage from fire traps
This is easy, just take your time. The fire traps are usually in the areas where you have to traverse across conveyor belts, just pay attention to where you are headed and it will be almost impossible to get hit by a fire trap. Once you reach the final boss the trophy will unlock.
Skystones Strategist

SkyStones - Capture 2 stones with 1 single stone
This should come naturally as you play Skystones numerous times in this game, just plan your moves and use your best Skystones and this trophy will be yours. This trophy unlocks as soon as you capture 2 stones simultaneously.
Clean Jersey

Don’t take any damage from Kaos' rockets during the mini-game on the Dread-Yacht

This trophy is one of the hardest ones in the game. After the Wilikins install the gun onto the ship you can access this mini game by jumping into the hole by the stairs but wait to do this trophy until you are doing clean up as it will take a bit. There are 3 randomly cycling mini-games, one is to shoot sheep, another to shoot barrels and the third is to shoot rockets out of the air. Keep completing the mini-games and leaving until you get the rocket mini-game. Once you get the rocket mini-game make sure that you do NOT complete it if you receive damage. If you receive damage from the rockets simply stop shooting and fail the mini-game, you want to fail the mini-game because you can replay failed mini-games simply by staying downstairs and pressing . This will allow you to play the rocket mini-game as many times as you need to in a row, if you leave the room the mini-games become random again. Replay the mini-game in this fashion until you do not receive damage and this ones in the bag.
Soul Surfer

Collect soul gems for Tree Rex and Jet-Vac
The soul gems for Tree Rex and Jet-Vac are located in Chapters 12 and 14. Consult OldSkoolGamer's Collectibles Guide for their exact locations.
Seeker Adept

Collect 10 Legendary Ship Parts
There is a Ship part for every level, simply collect 10/16 of them and this trophy is yours. If you are still missing parts by the end of the game then consult OldSkoolGamer's Collectibles Guide.
Hint Scholar

Collect 10 Story Scrolls
There is a Story Scroll for every level, simply collect 10/16 of them and this trophy is yours. If you are still missing scrolls by the end of the game then consult OldSkoolGamer's Collectibles Guide.
Fashionista

Collect 10 Hats
This trophy should come naturally. You receive Hats by exploring elemental areas and opening boxes or by buying them from the in-game store. Collect 10 Hats and this trophy is yours.
To the Max

Level up any Skylander to level 15
Like the description says, level up any Skylander to level 15. I started with a level 1 Trigger Happy and had levelled him up to 15 around Chapter 12. It helps to stick to one character and if you want to level up more quickly do the Arena Challenges as they unlock because they give good experience. You should easily get this trophy before your Nightmare run, if not then you will get it during it.
Upgrade Uniter

Purchase all upgrades for any one Skylander
Upgrades are purchased from Persephone on the ship, her cabin is located behind the stairs leading up to the captains area. You should be able to buy all of your Skylanders upgrades when they are around level 12, just make sure you aren't wasting money on the items in the shops as the upgrades are more important. The trophy will unlock as soon as you purchase your Skylanders final upgrade.
Spend That Loot!

Amass 65,000 Treasure with any one Skylander

This trophy is not cumulative, you must have a total of 65,000 gold in your inventory on a single Skylander for it to unlock.

You must have a total of 65,000 gold on a single Skylander for this trophy to unlock, by the end of your easy playthrough you should have close to 50,000 gold saved up. This trophy should unlock by the end of your Nightmare playthrough. If for some reason you did not get enough gold for the trophy, you can always replay the later arena matches to earn 1,000+ gold each round. There is also a spot on Captain Flynn's ship where around 6,000 gold spawns only after beating the game, you can collect this treasure multiple times by following the method in the video below.
