Silence is a point and click adventure game developed by German studio Daedalic Entertainment (Deponia, The Pillars of the Earth), originally released in 2016. Is it the sequel their previous game, 2009's The Whispered World. Knowledge of that game is helpful in understanding many things in Silence, but is not strictly necessary. All you really need to know is that Silence is a fantasy dream world, and the first game starred a circus clown named Sadwick, who at the end of that game entered the real world and became a boy named Noah. Silence takes place a few years later.

Trophy-wise, this is a fairly easy platinum trophy to obtain, though you will be required to play through twice, as there is no way to unlock Sadist and Nothing can stop me! on a single save file. There are a few lengthy game-spanning trophies to watch out for – namely Sherlock Holmes, Useless but beautiful and Fine Listener – but otherwise the miscellaneous trophies are either contained to a handful of screens or don't require full replays to unlock.

GLITCH NOTE: Patch 1.01 has made Sherlock Holmes (and thus Master of Silence) impossible to obtain. As of the writing of this guide, Daedelic was still working on a patch, but have not announced a release date. Currently, the only way to obtain this game's platinum is to play an unpatched digital or disc copy – the disc was only released in Europe.

Note that while the game is broken up into chapters, it has no chapter select, and you only have one save file to work from. As you must play the game twice anyways – and trophy progress carries over between playthroughs – it's not the end of the world if you miss some of the miscellaneous trophies, but try not to. I highly recommend following Noid's walkthrough (HERE) to cut down on clean-up time.

Step 1: Play through the game, without skipping cutscenes/dialogue, collecting all deaths and as many miscellaneous trophies as possible

Play through the game and enjoy the story. Just make sure you don't touch or the touchpad or you will skip dialogue/cutscenes and void a game-spanning trophy. Feel free to use the snoopkey ( or ) as much as you want, as you will need to learn the locations of items you need to interact with and you won't have these labels during your second playthrough.

For your first playthrough, you will want to focus on obtaining all four deaths required for Sadist. There are a few trophies tied to solving puzzles (notably the three tied to the prayer mill puzzle), so use checkpoint reset to your advantage. There is also a trophy for skipping all puzzles; these can all be unlocked simultaneously via checkpoint reset, or you can save the puzzle skip trophy for Step 2. Relatedly, there are a few trophies for making one choice over another (ex: Demolition expert vs Pacifist) that you can either obtain via checkpoint reset or simply making the opposite choice during your second playthrough. It's your decision.

You will also want to focus on passing all of the balance events without failing for a game-spanning trophy.

By the end of this step, you will have earned:

Chapter 1
Shadow on the wall
To err is human...
Open up wide
Fartjokes!
Handyman
Pacifist
or Demolition expert
Fire in the...nevermind
Chapter I

Chapter 2
Keep away from children
Haute cuisine
Do not feed the fish!
I didn't do it!
Summit attempt
Woooow!
The hands of a healer
Quite a buggy game
Bubblekillerfamiliy
Master of Thermodynamics
Lollipop
Where there is life, there is hope
Life is but a dream
Death is a part of life
Chapter II

Chapter 3
Sadist
Checkmate in 8 moves
Achoo!!
Shut up clown!
Fastidious clown
Artistic master
The Green, the Fat, the Ugly
Unfulfilled dreams
Mumbo Jumbo
Let the boot talk
It's nothing personal
or It's not easy being green!
Like a moth in the wind
Chapter III

Ending
Mirror mirror on the wall... or Home is where the heart is
Fine Listener

Step 2: Play the game again with snoopkey disabled

Your second playthrough will be much, much faster as you can safely skip dialogue/cutscenes provided you unlocked Fine Listener in the previous step. There are also a lot of unnecessary actions you did in Step 1 for trophies that you don't need to do for this playthrough; Noid's walkthrough is wonderfully color-coordinated to tell you which actions are required and which are skippable.

Before starting a new game, go to Options – Hints and make sure all three boxes there are not checked (the picture on the left will be blank without any writing/circles on it). Then as you're playing the game, avoid pressing or outside of the one time you are required to during the prologue/tutorial. Assuming you didn't unlock all the either/or trophies in Step 1 via checkpoint reset, make the opposite choices during this playthrough. You will also want to choose the ending you did not choose in Step 1. The only other thing to worry about is to fail the balance check minigames three times in a row to unlock that trophy. Skip all minigames.

By the end of this step, you will have unlocked:

Pacifist or Demolition expert
Nothing can stop me
Artistic fool
Done. First!
It's nothing personal
or It's not easy being green!
Mirror mirror on the wall...
or Home is where the heart is
Sherlock Holmes

And... Master of Silence ! Congratulations!

47 trophies ( 14  30  5  )

  • Obtain all the trophies

You have explored Silence and defeated the False Queen. Congratulations!

  • Finish the game without dying

See Sadist for the instances in which you can die, then avoid them. Unlike many “no death” trophies, this one is quite easy.

Additionally, Renie may be able to die during the star puzzles at the end of the game, so make sure to aim the light beams at the Seekers once they get to the top of the lighthouse (they will grab her and hold her against the lighthouse, giving you more time to fight them off, so don't worry if you can't get them to fall off right away).

Note that the trophy won't actually unlock until after the ending credits, when you're back on the main menu screen.

  • Let Sadwick die every time it´s possible

Just to clear any confusion: Sadwick actually refers to the game's main character, Noah.

This trophy is actually a lot easier than it sounds, as there are only four instances where Noah can die. They are as follows, in order:

    • Chapter 1 – World Worm – Kyra will tell you to hide from the Seeker. Either refuse to, or just let the timer run out
    • Chapter 1 – Bridge – When Spot is in the ring, don't do anything and let the timer run out
    • Chapter 2 – Plateau – approach the Seeker (you'll have to do this a few times)
    • Chapter 3 – Shack – when in control of Renie, just put the controller down and let the Seeker break into the shack (it'll take a few minutes)
  • You finished chapter one

Story related and cannot be missed. You will unlock this trophy after using Spot to destroy the bridge at the end of the chapter.

  • You finished chapter two

Story related and cannot be missed. Will unlock after solving the dragon puzzle with Spot and finishing up some conversation with Noah at the end of the chapter.

  • You finished chapter three

Story related and cannot be missed. Will unlock after the cloud flying section at the end of the chapter.

  • Finish the game without using the snoopkey

    GLITCHED WITH PATCH 1.01.

Before starting a new game, go to Options – Hints and make sure all three boxes there are not checked (the picture on the left will be blank without any writing/circles on it). Then start a new game and play through until the end. This should disable the snoopkey entirely, but to be on the safe side, don't click or at all during your playthrough (except the one time you're told to during the prologue/tutorial).

The game's current patch (1.01) has made this trophy unobtainable. Currently, the only way to obtain both this trophy and the is to play either an unpatched digital version or play from a disc copy of the game. The disc was only released in Europe.

Note that the trophy won't actually unlock until after the ending credits, when you're back on the main menu screen.

  • Finish the game without skipping a text

Basically, don't press or the at any point while playing the game (except when you're skipping minigames, then you can press ). This includes the ending credits!! The trophy will unlock when the credits end and you are taken back to the main menu.

  • Lick the mushrooms until you pass out

In Chapter 2, Renie and Sam will find themselves in a forest with a carnivorous plant. On the same screen as the plant, near the large skeleton, are mushrooms that Renie can interact with and lick. Lick them a few times (3-4) and Renie will eventually pass out. You will unlock the trophy when she wakes back up.

  • Pull the world worm's tooth

In Chapter 1, Noah will exit a world worm into the land of Silence. Before exiting the valley he finds himself in, pull the world worm's tooth to the right to remove it from the monster's mouth and unlock the trophy. Afterwards, you will need to use the nearby puddle of water to clean Noah's hands before he'll do anything else.

  • Let Renie and Noah both pop the bubble

In Chapter 2, both Renie and Noah will separately find themselves in a volcano crater. In the bottom left corner of the area is a single bubble that can be interacted with and popped (doing so once will also count towards Quite a buggy game). Make sure to pop the bubble as both Noah and Renie to unlock the trophy.

  • In Chapter 2, Renie and Spot will be in a volcano crater. After dealing with the Seeker, you will finally be able to move Spot in this area. Hold to become fat Spot and roll into the lava. He will fly over the top of the nearby gate and the trophy will unlock.

  • Spot licked everything

There are nine things for Spot to lick (he will make an audible licking noise) that count towards this trophy. They are, in order:

    • Chapter 1 – Waterfall Canyon – mushroom/fartshroom (this must be done before watering it)
    • Chapter 1 – Bridge – bomb parts
    • Chapter 1 – Bridge – Kyra (do this twice)
    • Chapter 2 – Plateau – prayer mill (the leftmost one, across the gap. Get there via Master of Thermodynamics)
    • Chapter 2 – Plateau – broken prayer mill
    • Chapter 2 – Plateau – Yngo (must be done before reuniting Yngo with Ralv)
    • Chapter 2 – Plateau – quartz (do this twice)
    • Chapter 2 – Plateau – stone gate (must not have opened it)
    • Chapter 2 – Plateau – Yngo and Ralv

The above list should unlock the trophy. If it does not, there are two extra things that Spot can lick:

    • Chapter 2 – Plateau – repaired prayer mill
    • Chapter 2 – Plateau – prayer mill fitting (once you've placed all the prayer mills on it, before you open the stone door)
  • Burn the swamp

In Chapter 2, Renie will eventually find herself with a few Seeker masks via story reasons. Instead of using them to prop open the mouth of the large skull, you will first want to move them to the right. They will catch fire, which will quickly spread to the swamp, unlocking this trophy. Don't worry about resetting the checkpoint or anything; this is just a joke and doesn't affect the game.

  • Find all bugs

In Chapter 2, Noah/Spot can find three bugs hidden in the game's scenery. Their locations are as follows:

    • Honey Tree – use flat Spot on the honey tree
    • Ruins – the left pile of leaves outside of the ruins
    • Volcano Crater – pop the bubble in the bottom left corner of the screen
  • Find all possible Spot interactions

Whenever you're able to control Spot in an area, interact with environmental objects and people around him – make sure to check as all three Spot forms. There are a lot of these, so I highly recommend just following Noid's walkthrough to make sure you get them all, or you can reference THIS video while you're playing.

It's possible that this trophy is glitched in a beneficial way. When playing through, I personally unlocked this trophy midway through Chapter 2. Don't be surprised if the trophy pops early, and don't be upset if it doesn't unlock until the last Spot interaction point. It seems different for everyone. (For the record, I was playing the game unpatched, from a disc copy and entirely offline)

  • Prime the bomb

Near the end of Chapter 1, Kyra will ask if Noah wants to prime a bomb. Agree to do so and unlock this trophy. This can be done simultaneously with Pacifist by reloading the checkpoint after unlocking the trophy.

  • Don´t prime the bomb

Near the end of Chapter 1, Kyra will ask if Noah wants to prime a bomb. Refuse to do so and unlock this trophy. This can be done simultaneously with Demolition expert by reloading the checkpoint after unlocking the trophy.

  • Trigger the same game over sequence twice in a row

For any of the instances detailed in Sadist, simply make the incorrect choice once again to unlock this trophy. The earliest you can unlock this is in Chapter 1 with the Seeker at the world worm; the latest is at the beginning of Chapter 3 with the Seeker at the shack.

  • Let the mushroom fart ten times

In Chapter 1, Noah and Spot will come across a fartshroom that will fully bloom once Spot waters it. Once he's done so, switch to Noah and use the fartshroom ten times to unlock this trophy. Any time Spot activates it (like when he needs to use it to get to the top of the cliff) doesn't seem to count towards the total.

  • Fix the bomb without letting go

Near the end of Chapter 1, Kyra will be putting a bomb together, and will tell you to hold onto it while she works on it. Select the bomb and simply hold down until the on-screen timer runs out and you will unlock the trophy.

  • Drop the Noiseball

Near the end of Chapter 1, Noah will be on a bridge with Kyra, who is fixing a bomb. When you are given control to walk around, pick up the round object on the barrier. Kyra and Noah will share some dialogue and Noah will automatically drop it, unlocking the trophy.

  • Use the magic boxes to change into all available Spot forms

In Chapter 3, Spot will be in the Lumis hideout underground, searching for the missing shard. On either side of the drum in the center of the screen are magic boxes – entering one will cause Spot to exit from the other as a different form. There are four: fire Spot, flat Spot, balls Spot and regular Spot. This one is difficult to miss, as you'll need to use the magic boxes a few times during the course of gameplay anyways.

  • Taste the everything in the swamp

In Chapter 2, Renie will be in a swamp area with Sam and a carnivorous plant. There are seven things between the two screens for her to lick/eat that count towards this trophy. They are:

    • Berries on initial screen (do this twice – she'll lick them once for story reasons; you need to actually move the berry plant for her to eat them)
    • Mushrooms near skeleton (the Keep away from children ones)
    • Hot honey
    • Moss on rocks
    • Big skull
    • Tar pit (bottom right corner of area)
    • Bitter berries (you need to pull the bush, then quickly pick up the single berry so Renie will eat it. You only get one shot at this, as subsequent pullings will release several berries at a time, which will be needed for story reasons and Renie won't eat them).

This all needs to be done before Renie retrieves the bitter berries from the bush.

  • Let the fish get the berries 3 times

In Chapter 2, Renie will come across a bush of bitter berries above a tar pit. To retrieve them, she needs to pull the bush to get berries to drop into the tar. Doing so will cause a fish to spawn, which gives Renie only a few seconds to retrieve the berries before the fish eats them. Simply let the berries drop into the pit and then proceed to do nothing three times to unlock the trophy.

  • In Chapter 2, Noah will rescue an unconscious Kyra. After performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, you will have the option to perform “revival” on her – namely, slap her in the face. Do this six times until Noah slaps her very hard (“it was worth a try”) and the trophy will unlock.

  • Discover every possible Spot form

Story related and cannot be missed. This will unlock in Chapter 3 when Spot becomes a balloon and floats out of the Lumis hideout.

  • Kick everything possible.

Scattered among all three chapters are eight things you will need to kick. Some are story-related, while others are missable. Of the missable ones, some require you to have an item in your hands before the option to kick them appears. They are as follows, in order:

    • Chapter 1 – Bunker - TV set (story-related)
    • Chapter 2 – Swamp – Carnivorous plant (you will not get this option until you've punched it a few times and progressed the story a bit).
    • Chapter 2 – Swamp – Little skull (story-related)
    • Chapter 2 – Swamp – Plug on the screen with the carnivorous plant (Renie must be holding the helmet; she will automatically kick it when you interact with it – you will not have the kick option)
    • Chapter 2 – Honey Tree – Root with blossom (do this twice – Noah has different dialogue each time he does it)
    • Chapter 2 – Honey Tree – Honey tree (story-related)
    • Chapter 2 – Dragon – Once you're with Spot at the dragon, select Horus (the bird – he's in the top right corner) in order to switch back to Renie. As Renie, you will be able to kick the prayer mill fitting
    • Chapter 3 – Market Place – When Renie is holding the cookie jar with the Lumis that she obtained in the canals, you will be able to kick the Seeker that is trapped in the manhole (do this twice).
  • Play with the shadows.

During the very first area of Chapter 1, Noah will be in a bunker looking for a way to cheer up Renie. Nearby you will see a lampshade. Use it twice and Noah will make two different shadow animals, and you will unlock the trophy. This must be done before using the marbles to juggle.

  • Balance without falling down.

There are several instances in the game where you will be thrust into a balancing minigame. The cursor will automatically move left, so you will want to use small taps to push it to the right and keep it in the middle. The balance meter will fill up quicker the closer to the middle you are. For this trophy, you must do all the balance minigames without failing once (reset the checkpoint if you do and you can try again). If successful, this will unlock after Spot's balancing minigame on the balloon in Chapter 3.

  • Fail three times in balance checks.

During any of the game's balance check minigames, fail three times in a row to unlock this one. Do this trophy on a separate playthrough from Artistic master.

  • Look into the abyss

In Chapter 2, Noah will find himself underground with a huge larva monster with electric tentacles. On the far right of the screen is a chasm that can be interacted with. Doing so will show a short cutscene as to what is down there and the trophy will unlock.

  • Listen to Kyra

This trophy is a bit confusing, as what you actually need to do is check in with the Kyra statue at every opportunity during Chapter 3, to get all possible dialogue about it. Noid's walkthrough or THIS video will help you.

  • Spot plunges everywhere

In Chapters 1 and 2 there are six different areas for Spot to attempt – and fail – to reach a higher place. They are, in order:

    • Chapter 1 – Cliff – Fat Spot - interact with the cliff Kyra climbed up, and Noah will attempt to throw Spot up there.
    • Chapter 2 – Honey Tree – Regular Spot – interact with the honey tree. You need to do this before Noah and Kyra kick it.
    • Chapter 2 – Honey Tree – Fat Spot – interact with the honey tree, and Noah will attempt to throw Spot up there. You need to do this before Noah and Kyra kick it.
    • Chapter 2 – Honey Tree – Fat Spot – after doing the two actions above, fat Spot can interact with Kyra to have her try to throw him up into the tree.
    • Chapter 2 – Honey Tree – Regular Spot – after Kyra and Noah kick the tree and some story-related stuff happens, use regular Spot with the hole on the left side of the area.
    • Chapter 2 – Underneath Honey Tree – Regular Spot – exit the area as Spot (top left corner)
  • Dive through the clouds

Story-related and cannot be missed. You will unlock this trophy during several cutscenes near the end of Chapter 3.

  • Get to the gate in 8 steps

Early in Chapter 3, all of the characters will be on one side of a broken bridge and must get to the other. To do so in the minimum of steps, select the characters in the following order: Renie / Noah (Sadwick) / Samuel / Spot / Renie / Janus / Kyra / Renie.

This can be done in conjunction with Done. First! if you reset the checkpoint right after you unlock the trophy.

  • Place candles everywhere possible

In Chapter 3, Noah will have to solve a lengthy puzzle involving two different candles. While holding each candle, you will want to interact with everything possible to unlock this trophy. They are, in order:

    Kyra's Candle

    • Kyra statue
    • Throne
    • Renie statue
    • Lantern (story-related)
    • Throne (again; this time with the candle in the lantern)
    • Renie statue (again; this time with the candle in the lantern)
    • Kyra statue (story-related)

    Renie's Candle

    • Kyra statue
    • Renie statue
    • Throne (story-related)
  • Sneeze over the candle

In Chapter 3, Noah will be in Shana's hut with many candles. The candles at the bottom of the screen can be interacted with – while Shana talks about them, Noah will sneeze and you will unlock this trophy. This must be done before interacting with the candles on the right side of the screen.

  • Grab 10 gold from the well

In Chapter 3, Noah/Sadwick and Renie will be separated after a balloon crash. Noah will be next to a fountain – looking in it will reveal there are coins inside. You need to grab one for story progression; grab nine more for this trophy.

  • Completed the prayer mill story with the death wheel

In Chapter 2, Renie must open stone doors by solving a puzzle involving three prayer wheels. The initial sequence is 3 / 2 / 3 / 1 / 2. The final wheel to spin for this trophy is 3.

This can be done in conjunction with Life is but a dream and Where there is life, there is hope as well as Done. First! provided you make a checkpoint before starting the puzzle. To do so, exit the screen back into the volcano crater and re-enter, as every time you enter a new screen, a checkpoint is created. Solve the puzzle, unlock the trophy, then quickly reload the checkpoint to reset the puzzle.

  • Completed the prayer mill story with the dream wheel

In Chapter 2, Renie must open stone doors by solving a puzzle involving three prayer wheels. The initial sequence is 3 / 2 / 3 / 1 / 2. The final wheel to spin for this trophy is 2.

This can be done in conjunction with Death is a part of life and Where there is life, there is hope as well as Done. First! provided you make a checkpoint before starting the puzzle. To do so, exit the screen back into the volcano crater and re-enter, as every time you enter a new screen, a checkpoint is created. Solve the puzzle, unlock the trophy, then quickly reload the checkpoint to reset the puzzle.

  • Completed the prayer mill story with the life wheel

In Chapter 2, Renie must open stone doors by solving a puzzle involving three prayer wheels. The initial sequence is 3 / 2 / 3 / 1 / 2. The final wheel to spin for this trophy is 1.

This can be done in conjunction with Life is but a dream and Death is a part of life as well as Done. First! provided you make a checkpoint before starting the puzzle. To do so, exit the screen back into the volcano crater and re-enter, as every time you enter a new screen, a checkpoint is created. Solve the puzzle, unlock the trophy, then quickly reload the checkpoint to reset the puzzle.

Secret trophies

  • Go through the mirror

At the very end of the game, have Renie choose the mirror shard to repair the mirror and unlock this trophy.

  • Stay in Silence

At the very end of the game, have Renie choose the juggling balls to destroy the mirror and unlock this trophy.

  • Shoot the gate

In Chapter 3, Renie and Noah will be on a boat, arguing with Kyra. Eventually, you will have the option to choose either “Sadwick, fire the cannon!” or “Renie, send Spot at Kyra!”. Choose the cannon option for this trophy.

This can be done in conjunction with It's not easy being green if you reload the checkpoint after unlocking the trophy, or you can wait for your second playthrough.

  • Send Spot to Kyra

In Chapter 3, Renie and Noah will be on a boat, arguing with Kyra. Eventually you will have the option to choose either “Sadwick, fire the cannon!” or “Renie, send Spot at Kyra!”. Choose the Spot option for this trophy.

This can be done in conjunction with It's nothing personal if you reload the checkpoint after unlocking the trophy, or you can wait for your second playthrough.

  • Skip every puzzle

Silence has a handful of minigame puzzles scattered throughout all the chapters. When you start them, you will immediately be given the option to press to skip it. Do so for all minigame puzzles to unlock this trophy by the end of the game. For reference, they are:

    • Chapter 2 – Ruins – music instruments
    • Chapter 2 – Plateau – prayer mills
    • Chapter 3 – Gate – bridge puzzle
    • Chapter 3 – Crash Site – feed the Lumins

Note that there are a few trophies tied to actually solving the puzzles (notably the prayer wheels in Chapter 2). This can still be done during the same playthrough as those, provided you make a checkpoint before starting the puzzle. To do so, exit the screen and re-enter, as every time you enter a new screen, a checkpoint is created. Solve the puzzle, unlock the trophy, then quickly reload the checkpoint to reset the puzzle, but as you'll be playing the game twice anyways, you don't need to bother doing that (except for the prayer wheels).
