PST Staff

Capcom’s Resident Evil is one of the most popular video game franchises of all time, much of which is down to its intense horror scenes and immersive graphics. Available on a number of different platforms, including PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and filled with several ultra-cool scenes and characters, what’s not to love?

One thing you will need if you want to succeed in Resident Evil Village is money, or Lei, as it’s known in the game (think RE4's Pesetas). And in this walkthrough, we’ll give you a headstart on how to get more of this vital asset.

So, without further ado, let’s delve a little deeper into the world of axe-wielding werewolves and talk you through how to enhance gameplay in the Resident Evil 8 Village by getting hold of the “treasure under the Stronghold.”

What is the Treasure Under the Stronghold?

Resident Evil Village treasures are valuable resources that can be found in various locations throughout the world. While these trinkets are not mandatory to complete the game, they can be sold to The Duke at his shop for Lei (Resident Evil’s in-game currency). Laden with a load of cash you can then purchase a variety of items to help you along the way, including new weapons, upgrades, and healing items.

How to Find the Treasure Under the Stronghold

There are a few ways to get your hands on the almighty treasure under the Stronghold:

1. Fight the Lycans in the Forbidden Woods.

On the map, you’ll see treasure has been marked in the Forbidden Woods area, close to where several Lycans were first fought. But, to actually obtain the treasure you need to go underground. Before you head deeper into the stronghold make sure your ammo and health levels are stacked as there are a lot of Lycan to defeat here.

Upon reaching the spiral staircase, you’ll encounter a hammer-wielding Lycan boss, Urias. After defeating the giant wolf in a boss fight you will make your way through a cave that’s filled with crystal fragments. Collect as many of these as possible to sell to The Duke later on.

2. Collect the Torso Flask

Keep moving forward and you’ll discover a room that holds Heisenberg’s Torso flask. This flask is one of four of its kind, with each one containing a different body part of Rosemary Winters (or Rose for short), Ethan’s daughter. It’s important to get this flask as it’s needed later on for the village Altar.

3. Find the Golden Plate

Once you’ve collected the flask and read the message that’s held within it, you’ll be able to exit the building to get on a boat. But, before you do, make sure you look to your left when passing through the door into the boat area. Here you’ll find a big gold plate, referred to as Guglielmo’s Plate. While it may not be a treasure chest as such, it will still fetch a pretty penny with The Duke.

What is the Purpose of the Treasure Under the Stronghold?

The reason why these treasures are so important is that they contain either a helpful weapon or an item of significant value that can be sold to The Duke for big bucks. For example, Guglielmo’s Plate will fetch a tidy 25,000 Lei when sold to The Duke.

What About Beneviento’s Treasure?

Another kind of treasure that’s worth seeking out is Beneviento’s Treasure. However, there is a catch as it can only be found within a certain time frame - before entering Moreau’s Reservoir.

To get your hands on this treasure you need to head towards House Beneviento. Just make sure your ammo levels are topped up and you have a few first aid meds as you’ll have to defeat a tough boss to claim the treasure.

Once There, Make your Way to the Graveyard

At the gravesite of the house, you’ll need to collect the broken slab and return it to Claudia Beneviento’s grave to gain access to the treasure. But, to do this you will have to first kill two undead and a big scary guy with an axe.

While he is only a mini-boss, you’ll still want to be well-equipped before you take him on as he is pretty strong. But several bombs and bullets or a good old grenade launcher shot should do the trick.

Only when the giant and all the surrounding smaller enemies are dead can you collect your reward - Berengario’s Chalice. To get this, just place the broken slab on the grave, and the treasure will be revealed. At the Duke’s shop, this piece of treasure will bag you a cool 18,000 Lei.
