Resident Evil 2 remake is a reimagining of one of the most acclaimed games of the series (and of the entire PS1 generation). After more than 20 years, Capcom finally heard the prayers of his fans and remade the game from the ground, giving us a terrifying yet amazing experience that pays homage to the very roots of the survival horror genre.
With regards to the roadmap we are talking about multiple runs with both characters for the story mode, collectibles, combat and boss related trophies and an extra short run with the 4th Survivor mode, unlocked after beating any of the character's 2nd run scenarios.
The task is not simple, the enemies are strong, deal enormous damage (especially in harder difficulties), tend not to follow an established pattern and if that was not enough, a little after halfway through your Police Station playthrough, the Tyrant (also know as Mr. X) will chase you until you escape though the parking garage. This part adds a tremendous sense of anxiety and you could easily get sidetracked while trying to evade him.
A side note about the scenarios
Resident Evil 2 remake has a special mechanic related to how the story mode is played. At the beginning of the game, you can select either Leon or Claire campaign to start your game. Both scenarios share some similarities in the positioning of key items and enemies, but differ in the events that occur, characters you met (Leon meets Ada while Claire meets Sherry) and the exclusive items you find (i.e, Leon obtains the Lighting Hawk Magnum from the Police Station 2F - S.T.A.R.S. Office while Claire gets the MQ11 SMG)
Additionally, when you beat the normal base scenario with either Claire or Leon, you will open a second scenario (or 2nd run) in which you can experience the game from the perspective of the other character (If you beat Claire's normal scenario, you will get Leon's 2nd run scenario).
Since in the 1998 edition these scenarios were differentiated by the letters A and B, throughout the guide and for simplicity, we will call them the same way, Leon A and Claire A for the normal scenario runs and Leon B and Claire B for the 2nd run scenarios.
New All In-Game Rewards DLC
On April 5, Capcom released a new DLC which allows you to unlock, among others, the extra modes (Hunk and Tofu) and the infinite weapons. Since the platinum requirements do not need S+ ranks, you can use the infinite weapons directly for your Hardcore scenarios, decreasing the amount of playthroughs needed, as well as the platinum difficulty in general. The Roadmap will continue to consider the experience without DLC.
Step 1: Assisted run with both characters under both scenarios while getting all the collectibles, combat and boss related trophies and exclusive character trophies.
Start the game by selecting either Leon or Claire and the Assisted difficulty. The main reason to start in this difficulty is to focus on getting to know the game, the location of key items and gathering all the collectibles, which will be of utmost importance for the next step. Additionally, in this difficulty the enemies are weaker, your life regenerates from the Danger to Caution state automatically and the Tyrant walks slightly slower and does less damage, which will allow you to explore with a little less anxiety.
With respect to collectables, you can refer to the Additional Resources section for a detailed guide on where to find them.
Finally, if you feel that you have learned what you needed about the game, you can combine this step with the next one to decrease the number of playthroughs. While this is highly doable, it is recommended that you beat the four scenarios (A and B) and decide which one you feel most comfortable with in order to go for the Standard Rank-S runs.
At the end of this step you will have earned the following trophies:
Welcome to the City of the Dead
Path to the Goddess
Never-Ending Rain
Hack Complete
Hide and Seek
A Great Need for a Shower
A Hero Emerges
A Heroine Emerges
Broken Umbrella
That'll Hold 'Em (Missable)
Eat This! (Missable)
Don't Need No Stinkin' Gun (Missable)
Bon Appétit (Missable)
Hip to Add Squares (Missable)
Customizer (Missable)
Vermin Extermination (Missable)
First Break-In (Missable)
A Vault-like Mind (Missable)
Gotcha! (Missable)
Zombie Roundup (Missable)
Like Skeet Shooting (Missable)
Keep Their Heads Ringin' (Missable)
Hats Off! (Missable)
Treasure Hunter (Missable)
One Slick Super-spy (Missable)
Young Escapee (Missable)
Master of Unlocking (Missable)
A Waist of Space (Missable)

In the Blink of an Eye (Missable)
Complete Vermin Extermination (Missable)
Lore Explorer (Missable)
Step 2: Beat the game with both characters with a S-Rank
In this step we will focus on beating each character's story scenarios (Doesn't matter if its the A or B ones) with an S-Rank under the Standard Difficulty. Unlike other Resident Evil games, the only variable to measure the ranking is time, so you can abuse the save feature (both manual and automatic) and heal without any problems.
It is recommended that you get the S-Rank with the character and under the scenario that you feel most comfortable with (hence the reason to play the 4 scenarios before going through this step) and get the infinite ammo Samurai Edge Pistol as a reward for this. Once with it, you can use it to obtain the S-Rank with the other character without much difficulty.
While you can try to combine this step with the next one, it is highly recommended to get the infinite ammo pistol first before venturing into the Hardcore difficulty.
At the end of this step you will have earned the following trophies:
Leon "S." Kennedy
Sizzling Scarlet Hero
Step 3: Beat the game with both characters under the Hardcore difficulty
In this step, we will focus on beating the game with each character in the Hardcore difficulty.
This difficulty is quite complex, the enemies are stronger, deal way more damage and the Tyrant is faster and stronger, so, it is extremely advisable to obtain the infinite ammo pistol from the previous step before even attempting this task. Additionally, in order to save your game, you must gather ink ribbons and use them on typewriters, so you have to be pretty efficient on where and when to use them.
Finally, it is recommended that you try to get an S-rank with one character and get the infinite ammo LE5 SMG as a reward, and use it to beat the other character's Hardcore run.
At the end of this step you will have earned the following trophies:
Hardcore Rookie
Hardcore College Student
Step 4: Cleanup runs: No Healing, No Item Box and less than 14.000 steps
If you didn’t get any of these trophies before and since you have learned what to get and what not during your previous runs, go back to the Assisted difficulty and finish the last specific runs under any character's scenario.
You can easily combine a No Healing run with a less than 14,000 steps one; however, it is recommended that you leave the No Item Box run alone since you will have to do a lot of backtracking and you will not be able to use any infinite ammo weapon.
At the end of this step you will have earned the following trophies:
Frugalist
Minimalist
A Small Carbon Footprint
Step 4: Beat The 4th Survivor extra mode scenario
Finally, select Extra Mode and choose The 4th Survivor scenario. Finish it to earn the last trophy and the coveted Platinum!
At the end of this step you will have earned the following trophies:
Grim Reaper
Raccoon City Native

- Minimum number of playthroughs: 1 for each survivor

- Glitched trophies: None
- Does difficulty affect trophies?: Yes, you have to beat the No Way Out Scenario while in “No training” mode.
- Do trophies stack?: N/A

The Ghost Survivors is the first free DLC released by Capcom on February 15th, 2019 for the Resident Evil 2 remake, and presents four what if? scenarios, whose basic idea are similar to the 4th Survivor and Tofu Survivor extra modes; that is to say, reach a specific point of the map with a predetermined inventory, but with the difference that now it is possible to obtain more equipment along the way, whether from enemies with backpacks or candy dispenser machines .
In terms of trophies, we are talking about just two, a trophy for shooting all Mr. Raccons scattered throughout the four scenarios and a trophy for beating the unlockable "No Way Out" scenario in "No Training" mode, which will demand a lot of practice and patience.
A side note about difficulties
This time, and unlike the two extra modes of the original game, you can choose between two difficulties, a Training (or easy) mode and a Normal "No Traning"- (whose difficulty varies depending on the number of stars in each scenario) mode.
The difference between these difficulties is that in the Training mode, you will have a much more advantageous loadout at the start of each scenario and will face (fewer and) weaker enemies, with the disadvantage that your records will not be recorded.
Finally, in the case of the "No Way Out" scenario, you will only need to kill 70 enemies instead of the 100 required by the "No Training" mode and the trophy.
A side note about the new enemies
Ghost Survivors adds four types of new enemies that you will have to deal with:
- Poisonous Zombies: Perhaps the most annoying enemies of this DLC. They have yellow glowing eyes and emit a toxic gas when they are killed. Keep your distance and wait a moment before moving forward when you kill them. Also, try not to get bitten by these enemies, otherwise you will be poisoned.
- Pale Heads: They are zombies without skin whose limbs cannot be dismembered and that are able to regenerate from taken damage, making them practically immune to conventional weapons. Use heavy artillery to slow them down and escape or kill them. Watch out for their erratic behavior as it is difficult to predict!
- A-gear (Anti-personnel Riot gear protected) Zombies: Zombies equipped with protective clothing, which are much stronger than normal zombies. Attack their exposed body parts (arms, legs, head or chest).
- Backpack Zombies: Zombies that carry big backpacks. When defeated they drop the backpack from which you can obtain a variety of items (even keys in the Runaway scenario). It is important to mention that these enemies can take any of the forms mentioned above.
- Explosive Canister Zombies: Similar to the backpack zombies, these enemies carry a flammable red canister on their backs. You can shoot the container to kill several zombies at once or damage the zombie enough to make it drop the canister and use later when need it. Be careful, however, since the explosion can hurt you!
Step 1: Complete the first three scenarios in Training mode, while collecting all Mr. Raccons
Simply, complete the three DLC scenarios: "No time to Mourn", "Runaway" and "Forgotten Soldier" in Training Mode, while shooting the nine Mr. Raccoons you find scattered in each one.
By the end of this step you will have unlocked the hidden "No Way Out" scenario.
Step 2: Complete the "No Way Out" scenario (No Training mode), collecting the last Mr Raccoon.
As the title says, beat hidden "No Way Out" scenario in Normal Mode (No Training) while shooting the last Mr Raccoon.
At the end of this step you will obtain the following trophies:
Got 'Em
Hell of a Sheriff

Resident Evil 2 had its last patch (1.05) on December 12th of 2019 and next to it, a new DLC (Another Survivor) with an extra trophy that links the events of this game with the RE3 remake to be released on April of 2020. The trophy, Chasing Jill, consists on finding a note left by Jill Valentine to Kendo, the gun shop owner, therefore it can only be obtained by Leon in any of its scenarios after escaping the Police Station through the parking garage.
Step 1: Get the trophy
This is a very simple step so load a save from after escaping the Police Station through the parking garage, then head to Kendo's shop and retrieve Jill's letter.
At the end of this step, you will have earned the following:
Chasing Jill
