Introduction:
Welcome to Red Dead Redemption, 2010's Game of The Year. Rockstar has done it again in making another masterpiece. Ride throughout Texas in this 1911 Western as John Marston, a former outlaw, looking for revenge on his former gang. This game has the same gameplay as Grand Theft Auto, without the modern life we know today of course. You can take two different paths, as a hero to the West, or a wanted outlaw to the state of Texas!
This trophy list consists of all sorts of things, mostly completing the game to 100% and reaching to level 50 on multiplayer. With this Roadmap I will be describing the best and fastest way of getting your platinum. There is also one missable trophy, but you can however, avoid missing it if you use your horse carefully i.e Spurred To Victory.
Patch 1.07
If you have the original release of Red Dead Redemption, then you can delete this patch and play offline in a LAN lobby. By doing this you will earn three times as much XP than you normally would. The Game of The Year Edition does not work as it already has the patch installed. This goes for the digital version as well and applies to the How the West Was Won trophy.
Patch 1.08 (June 19th, 2014)
Since the latest patch (1.08) all GameSpy services HAVE BEEN REMOVED. What this means is that the servers no longer support the Rockstar Social Club tracking website and other services. Because of this, you are no longer able to track your 100% progress, making it much harder to earn Redeemed. You will have to track your progress manually. This does NOT mean that the actual multiplayer servers have been removed, so the platinum is still obtainable.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE!:
It is very important to know that your Multiplayer stats are not saved on the Red Dead Redemption servers, only in your save file. If you lose or delete this save file then you will lose all of your online progress. It is highly recommended to backup your save data regularly. The save file for the online portion is named "Player profile".
To back up your save data, you must have either a USB stick or access to the PS+ Save File Cloud.
Walkthrough:
Step 1: Complete the campaign
In this step you will want to just play yet another brilliant masterpiece by Rockstar. Do not worry so much about trophies, the only trophy you will want to get in this step is Spurred To Victory as it's a missable trophy. Once you have completed the main story you will be able to Free Roam.
Also be on the look out for the first four main challenges so you can work on them while finishing up the main story. Be sure to skin a coyote, save a random stranger from the blue icon on your mini map to receive your very first treasure map, shoot any flying bird in the sky, and pick your first Wild Feverfew flower (white flower). This will let you work on challenges while playing the story, setting yourself up towards 100% completion in step two.
Also be on the look out for the Unatural Selection trophy. You'll have to kill 27 different animal species throughout the game. While meeting the requirements is very unlikely before you finish the main story, it's highly recommend to note down which animals you've killed before you completed the game, making this trophy much easier to earn in step 3.
In this step you will earn the following trophies:
That Government Boy
Land of Opportunity
Sons of Mexico
No More Fancy Words
A Savage Soul
The Benefits of Civilization
Into the Sunset
Spurred to Victory
Step 2: 100% in-game completion (Redeemed)
Getting Redeemed was actually quite fun and it's child's play compared to GTA4's Key to The City trophy, so this won't be that bad. Since the latest patch (1.08), you are no longer able to track your 100% progress from the Social Club. This makes keeping track much harder. However, I have provided a list of everything that you need to keep track of in the Redeemed trophy section.
In this step, you will finish all sets of four challenges, help all strangers, find all 10 hidden treasures throughout the game, and work towards unlocking all of your outfits. Outfits are most time consuming due to the fact that some require you to collect five to six scraps to fully unlock the outfit for it. Scraps require you to do various tasks such as using a map to find it's proper location, or clearing a hideout. For the full list of very location or everything that you need to know, refer to the Redeemed trophy.
In this step you will earn the following trophies:
Buckin' Awesome
Clemency Pays
Exquisite Taste
He Cleans Up Well!
Frontiersman
Man of Honor / Chivalry's Dead
Gold Medal
On the Trail of de Vaca
Strange Things are Afoot
People are Still Strange
Austin Overpowered
Evil Spirits
Instinto Asesino
Redeemed
Nurture or Nature?
Step 3: Single Player Clean Up
Here you will get any Single Player trophies you have not acquired during Steps 1 and 2, most likely by doing specific task's like fighting in saloons for Fightin' Around the World or playing Horseshoes for What About Hand Grenades?.
In this step, you will also work towards any total kills type trophies such as, getting 500 kills with a pistol/rifle, 500 kills with a mounted weapon, and getting 250 headshots. Some of these will come through natural gameplay. However, some of these will need to be farmed until you meet the requirements.
In this step, you will also finish up whatever remaining animal kills you need for the Unatural Selection trophy. If you kept track of every type of animal that you've killed, this shouldn't be difficult to earn during this step.
Refer to each trophy description to find a method to unlock whatever remains in SP before moving on to Multiplayer.
In this step, you will earn the following trophies:
High Roller
No Dice
What About Hand Grenades?
Fightin' Around the World
Bearly Legal
More than a Fistful
Friends in High Places
Mowing Them Down
In a Hail of Bullets
Long Arm of Marston
Bullseye
Unnatural Selection
Manifest Destiny
Dastardly
Heading South on a white Bronco
The Gunslinger
Step 4: Online Multiplayer
In this step you will want to get all 9 online trophies. The main ones that require some effort are The Quick and Everyone Else..., Go Team! and How the West Was Won. Most of these will require for you to win a certain number of match types in a row. Like winning four Team type games in a row, or being the top scoring player in FFA matches. There is also one trophy that will require you to be the leader of a full posse group that requires 8 players. This will most likely need to be boosted. To make these easier, you can find boosting partners in the Red Dead Redemption Trophy Boosting Thread.
In this step you will earn the following trophies:
Have Gun Will Travel
Slow on the Draw
Hit the Trail
Posse Up!
The Quick and Everyone Else...
How the West Was Won
Go Team!
Most Wanted
Red Dead Rockstar
Which will ultimately unlock:
Legend of the West

Outlaws to the End: DLC:
Overview:
- Estimated trophy difficulty: 6/10 (personal opinion)
- Offline trophies: 0
- Online trophies: 10 (10
)
- Approximate amount of time to 100%: 5-10hrs (personal opinion)
- Minimum number of playthroughs: 2 - 1 on Normal and 1 on Advanced
- Number of missable trophies: None
- Glitched trophies: None but see the warning in Step 1 for details of the current server status.
- Does difficulty affect trophies?: Yes, you have to finish all 6 missions on Normal and Advanced
- Do trophies stack?: Yes, it is possible to get multiple trophies at once so see the Guide for details.
- Do cheat codes disable trophies?: No cheats available.

Welcome to Red Dead Redemption Outlaws To The End. This is a free DLC that was released in 2010 by Rockstar as an add-on to Red Dead Redemption and contains six co-op missions which can be played with 2-4 players. The servers on Red Dead Redemption are now sadly very unstable and there have been reports of several glitches during missions that I will mention further on. However, I will try and make obtaining 100% in this DLC as easy and as painless as possible.

Step 1: Normal playthrough
Due to Rockstar all but abandoning the online portion of this game, the servers are incredibly unstable when it comes to connecting/joining a free-roam session due to hackers and other undesirables. In many instances, trying to join online directly from the main menu will result in an indefinite loading screen that you will only be able to leave via quitting the game via the XMB. To avoid this problem, join via story mode by pressing then choosing the Multiplayer option.
As a workaround join multiplayer through story mode. As soon as you join select private lobby, then proceed to invite your co-op partner(s) from your friends list from the on-screen menu. Press , then
,
and then proceed to invite your friends or boosting partner/s. Once your partner(s) have joined, start up a posse then invite them to join. Once they've joined, select a Co-Op mission and they should automatically follow you into the co-op mission game lobby.
I'd strongly recommend playing with friends or dedicated boosting partners in private lobbies, however you can complete the Co-Op missions with randoms if you wish. To play with randoms, instead of going to Private Multiplayer, join a Public server by pressing and scrolling down to Co-Op missions.
To find a boosting partner, try here: LINK or here: LINK
In order to get Gold medals, you need to earn a certain amount of XP in each mission. You will get XP by killing enemies, completing the mission, as well as in game challenges. Note: The more players you have playing with you, the more XP you will have to earn to get a gold medal in any given mission.
During this step you should earn the following trophies:
Well done
Have posse, will travel
2 guys, 1 Coop
Stake a claim
Struck gold
Bulletproof
Friends Indeed
Step 2: Advanced playthrough
In this step you will be doing the Advanced versions of the missions you completed in Step 1 and getting Gold medals on them but you must first complete all 6 Co-Op missions in Normal mode before you can play the Advanced versions. At the end of this step, you will have unlocked the following:
You rule!
The mother lode
Step 3: Cleanup
After completing Step 2, all you should be left with is getting kill chain of 10 in an Advanced mission. By completing this step you will earn the following trophy:
Dodge this

Undead Nightmare DLC:
Overview:
- Estimated trophy difficulty: 4/10 (Personal opinion)
- Offline trophies: 10 (9
, 1
)
- Online trophies: 2 (2
)
- Approximate amount of time to 100%: 10-15hrs (Personal opinion)
- Minimum number of playthroughs: 1 + a single game of Kingpin and another of Undead Overrun.
- Number of missable trophies: 4 - Zed's Dead, Baby
, Mad Marston: The Trail Warrior
, Fan Service
and Chupathingy
- Glitched trophies: Yes, 5 - Smoke that Skinwagon
, Zed's Dead, Baby
, Mad Marston: The Trail Warrior
, Fan Service
and Chupathingy
- Does difficulty affect trophies?: No so play on Easy
- Do trophies stack?: No
- Do cheat codes disable trophies?: There are Cheats and they do disable trophies so don't use them.

Welcome to Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, this DLC isn't canon but is set around 2 months before the events of the main game. Here we follow John Marston on an entirely new campaign where he is tasked to find a cure for a highly infectious plague that is ravaging across the frontier making the dead, undead. Marston must fight for survival against the undead across towns, deserts and mountains and help survivors cleanse out towns along the way to find a cure.
The disc version of Undead Nightmare is a stand-alone game and can played without owning the main game. Also, players who have the Undead Nightmare disc can play with other players who own the main game and have the DLC installed as well as with players who have only the Undead Nightmare disc. You can also earn a few of the trophies from the main game whilst playing Undead Nightmare, providing you have both installed.
The current state of the game:
Due to Rockstar abandoning the online portion of the game, the servers are now incredibly unstable when it comes to connecting/joining a free-roam session due to hackers and other undesirables. In many instances, trying to join online directly from the main menu will result in an indefinite loading screen that you will only be able to leave via quitting the game via the XMB. To avoid this problem, join via story mode by pressing , choosing the Private lobby option, then inviting your friends when you get into the lobby.
There are many nasty glitches in this game that can lock you out of many trophies, thus requiring a complete new game to be started from scratch. I would recommend saving regularly and creating a backup save, either to a USB drive or the PS Plus Cloud.
Here is a list of the most common glitches and the trophies they affect.
The 2 main glitches in this DLC are with Famine and the Chupacabra since failing to break Famine and kill the Chupacabra during your respective first encounter with them, will cause a cascade failure that leads to the following trophies becoming unobtainable for the current playthrough:
- Zed's Dead, Baby
- Mad Marston: The Trail Warrior
- Fan Service
- Chupathingy
You can reduce your risk of having to replay the game from scratch, by saving your game in a another slot before you enter Mexico during the main story mission called "American Imperialism". Now if you do get glitched, you can reload the other save and try again.
See below for detailed info on what causes the problems the above trophies:
Famine horse glitch ~ Famine may appear only once and must be located and broken upon seeing him for the first time, as failure to do so may cause him to permanently disappear from the game.
Fan Service: Find and break the Unicorn ~ You must complete the Undead Apocalypse challenge in order for the Unicorn to appear but if you missed Famine or failed to break him, you cannot get this trophy.
Mad Marston: The Trail Warrior ~ In order to complete the Undead Apocalypse challenge, you need to reach Rank 4 but if you missed Famine or failed to break him then you cannot complete this challenge or get the trophy. Rank 3 of "Undead Hunter" is also glitchy, due to Retcher explosions not always registering correctly.
Zed's Dead, Baby: Attain 100% Game Completion ~ Failure to tame Famine and kill the Chupacabra will result in the 100% completion being unobtainable due to the Undead Apocalypse and Undead Hunter challenges being impossible, which then leads to the Unicorn never spawning so it can’t then be caught and broken.
Chupathingy: Find and kill a Chupacabra ~ If you failed to kill the Chupacabra then it may never reappear, thus locking you out of this trophy.
Fan Service: Find and break a Unicorn ~ The Unicorn will not appear until the Chupacabra is killed but if that glitched and never spawned or you failed to kill it, then this trophy will be unobtainable..
The Smoke that Skinwagon trophy also has a couple of nasty glitches attached to it:
1: Kills not being added to the kill bar.
2: Either no enemies spawn or only one spawns at a time, thus making it impossible to fill the meter bar in time.
There is no known fix for these, other than restarting the match.
There are also some really nasty glitches that may not affect the trophies but can corrupt your save files:
Sometimes you will see ground objects floating in the sky or birds floating on the ground. This is a game breaking glitch and the only option is to close your game via the button, then reboot it. I strongly recommend backing up your saves to either the PS Plus Cloud or a USB drive as this glitch can corrupt your current save file.

Step 1: Story Mode
Play through the main story (which is a mix of Survivor and Stranger missions), none of these are missable and can be completed in around 2 hours. You will unlock the following trophies:
The Downward Spiral
Judge A Man By The….
The Superior Dance
All's Right With The World
Step 2: Challenges
Once you have completed the main game, I recommend starting on the Challenges but take you time and pay close attention to each one. There are some that can be missed thus locking you out of the 100% and requiring a second playthrough. You can keep track of challenges in the Main Menu under Journal. In this step you will unlock the following trophies:
Mad Marston
Fan Service
Chupathingy
Step 3: Zed's Dead, Baby + Clean-up
Now the clean-up, you should only have these trophies left to unlock. Zed's Dead, Baby can be unobtainable if either Famine or the Chupacabra decide to glitch and not spawn/re-spawn, thus requiring a whole new playthrough. Spinning Plates can be completed after beating the main game, but there are some towns you need to save in order to progress in the story.
Six Years In The Making
Spinning Plates
Zed's Dead, Baby
Step 4: Online
Please note that Kingpin requires at least 9 players (8 + yourself) and Undead Overrun is virtually impossible with less than 3 players as the higher you get in waves, the less time you have to fulfil the kill meter and the harder the zombies are to kill so please use the boosting thread to find some people to help you: LINK
Some players may have trouble joining you or may be invisible due to how unreliable the servers are but the only solution is to have someone else host. In this step you will unlock the following trophies:
Kingpin
Smoke That Skinwagon
