Random Heroes: Gold Edition is another simple yet fun platforming game developed and published by Woblyware and Ratalaika Games. In it the Earth is being invaded by terrifying aliens! It’s up to you and a bunch of random heroes to save the day and stop the invasion! Shoot and jump your way through over 108 levels to stop the alien menace and bring peace to the planet. Will you be able to survive?

The aim of the game is to complete as many levels with three stars as possible whilst collecting coins to buy new weapons. There are nine chapters in all with 12 levels in each, but to get the  you'll only need to focus on the first three chapters.

Before we continue onto the steps for this easy  game, I'll explain to you how you must navigate each level to maximise trophy unlocking with minimal replays.

Characters are unlocked every three stars. To get three stars on a single level you must do the following:

  1. Kill all enemies - search high and low, some are hiding in corners of the level you might not think to look.
  2. Collect all environmental coins (enemy drops aren’t counted) - be wary of hidden chamber areas that may require some platforming.
  3. Stay at full health - goes without saying, don't get hit. Picking up a med pack to heal will not give you your star back.

Do this for as many of the early levels as you can and you will unlock all characters with levels to spare, meaning you can just blast through them however you like until you defeat the final boss. You should also have collected all the coins you need by killing all enemies and collecting all environmental coins, but if not there is advice in the walkthough below.

Step One: Play through each level completing the first 3 chapters (36 levels) + Buy the first 5 weapons as you earn coins

In this step you should earn:

Zombie
Cop
Zombie Shooter
Gentleman
Flyer
Lunatic
Trucker
Zombie Runner
Agent
Crystal Skull
Hobo
Professor
Dino
General
Hippie
Mime
Muscled Boss
Worm
Zombie Turtle
BrainWorm
Ninja
Pirate
Princess
Punk
Turtle Boss
Plasma Pistol
Red Horned
Hopper
Track Shooter
Bomber
Shredder
Horned Boss

Step Two (if necessary): Replay any levels if you are missing stars or coins

If you defeat boss three (Horned Boss in the Cemetery) and are still short on stars to unlock your final character(s), now is the time to go back to previous easier levels and clean up. Likewise, if you need some extra coins to purchase the first five weapons in the shop, it’s best to replay the first boss until you accumulate enough.

If you didn’t get these in Step One, you may earn:

Magnum
SMG
TwinShot
Shotgun
Plasma Pistol

+ any trophies for additional characters you may be missing.

Platinum Hero

The fifteenth (and final) hero you will unlock. If you earn full stars you will get this in the fifteenth level.

  • Buy the Magnum gun.

Buy the Magnum as soon as possible as it is an upgrade from your starter weapon and will make defeating enemies a little bit quicker.

    This weapon costs $320.

  • Buy the TwinShot gun.

This weapon costs $480 and will be your second purchase (if you go in order).

  • SMG

    Buy the SMG gun.

I stuck with this weapon for the majority of my playthrough once I had bought it. Like the Magnum, get it as soon as possible for quicker kills.

This weapon costs $960 and will be your third purchase (if you go in order).

  • Buy the Shotgun gun.

This weapon costs $720 and will be your fourth purchase (if you go in order).

    It unlocks at level 2-1.

  • Buy the Plasma Pistol gun.

This weapon costs $1280 and will be your fifth and final purchase (if you go in order).

    It unlocks at level 2-1.

If you are struggling for coins at any point in the game you can replay any boss battle (I'd suggest the first) and keep defeating him until you have the coins you need.

  • Find a Crystal Skull.

The first crystal skull, and the only one you need to pick up, is located on level 1-6. See the video below for the exact location.

  • Kill a Zombie enemy.

Zombies are your basic enemies and you will encounter your first one pretty much as soon as you walk to the right in level 1-1.

  • Kill a Zombie Shooter enemy.

The Zombie Shooter is the larger version of the zombie enemy but they now wield a weapon and will shoot you constantly so long as you are in sight. It’s best to jump over this enemy and shoot it from behind.

Your first Zombie Shooter will be in level 1-2.

  • Kill a Zombie Runner enemy.

Zombie runners get their name due to the fast speed at which they travel. Just make sure to jump quickly over them as they seem to appear from nowhere off screen.

Your first Zombie runner will be in level 1-5.

  • Kill a Flyer enemy.

The Flyer enemy looks something like a floating zombie head/brain. Deal with them from afar so they don’t accidentally fly into you and deal damage.

Your first Flyer will be in level 1-3.

  • Kill a Zombie Turtle enemy.

Zombie Turtles are enemies that are covered in cylindrical armour. They pop out and are exposed from the middle and shoot two rounds at a time. Constantly shooting at them won’t do anything as they remain shielded, instead wait a few seconds and shoot just before they pop out.

Your first Zombie Turtle will be in level 2-1.

  • Worm

    Kill a Worm enemy.

Worms are in random locations and they look like goo balls before you get too close and they spring to life. Jump over them so they race past and shoot from behind for an easier kill, but note that they can be fast.

Your first Worm will be in level 2-1.

  • Kill a BrainWorm enemy.

The BrainWorm can be quite annoying as it shoots fireballs out of a cannon on its back. Just dodge as best as you can and if possible, take cover near ledges (if there are any).

Your first BrainWorm will be in level 2-3.

  • Kill a Red Horned enemy.

These are bull-like creatures and generally take a couple more shots than other enemies.

Your first Red Horned enemy will be in level 3-1.

  • Kill a Track Shooter enemy.

This enemy looks like a small brain in a little tank. Like the Zombie Shooter they should be dealt with from behind, otherwise you'll have to dodge their shots.

Your first Track Shooter enemy will be in level 3-1.

  • Kill a Bomber enemy.

The bomber is a short zombie that runs quite fast and, surprise, is holding a bomb.

Your first Bomber enemy will be in level 3-1.

  • Kill a Shredder enemy.

This enemy is a small metallic, floating object and should be dealt with from afar to avoid them flying directly into you.

Your first Shredder enemy will be in level 3-2.

  • Kill a Hopper enemy.

As the name describes, these are hopping enemies and they’re pretty slow, but they usually come in small groups.

Your first Hopper enemy will be in level 3-1.

  • Defeat the Muscled Boss.

This is the boss for Downtown.

Shoot at him until he charges and then jump onto the centre platforms. After a couple of seconds, he will shoot a laser at you. You can either jump down to get a few extra shots at him before he does this, or just wait, the choice is yours. Rinse and repeat until he dies and showers you with coins.

  • Defeat the Turtle Boss.

This is the boss for the Sewers.

The Turtle will be located across the screen from you. Shoot at him until he goes into his shell and starts to shoot firebombs at you. Dodge these by running around like a crazy person or move from your starting position towards the boss and back. Rinse and repeat until he dies and showers you with coins.

  • Defeat the Horned Boss.

This is the boss for the Cemetery.

Begin shooting at him and he will shoot fire across the floor towards you in waves of three. Jump over these whilst continuing to shoot. He will then jump towards you, simply run to the opposite side to dodge him. Rinse and repeat until he dies and showers you with coins.
