Introduction:

Q.U.B.E. (for Quick Understanding of Block Extrusion) is a first-person puzzler that was originally developed in 2009 by three students for an undergraduate project. Following encouragements, they founded Toxic Games and released the game on PC in late 2011. The Director's Cut contains the main game as well as the DLC and was released on PS3 and PS4 in July 2015.

The setting is very similar to Portal but the game mechanics are completely different. Using special high-tech gloves to manipulate cubes in the environment, the player solves an array of surprisingly varied conundrums – from physics-based challenges to 3D jigsaws to platform-based trials.

After clearing the main campaign and finding the hidden areas along the way, you'll need to beat a number of challenge rooms called Against the Qlock which are basically speed-run levels. While a few puzzles might make you scratch your head, the difficulty progresses nicely and remains fairly simple, and it shouldn’t take you more than a few hours to earn 100%.

NOTE: This guide was written by playing the PS3 version. If you find any differences when playing the PS4 version, then don't hesitate to notify me and I'll amend the guide accordingly.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Beat the main campaign
Most trophies are unlocked by simply playing the main game. If you pay attention to finding the secret areas (and beating the puzzles you find there), you will even get all of them except for one. If you're having trouble with some rooms or want to make sure you don’t miss any secret, I suggest referring to this video walkthrough by Zoidberg from the UK Gaming Network (please check the trophy descriptions for the relevant times).

During this step, you can earn the following trophies (in that order):

  • Sector 1, Completed
  • Sector 2, Completed
  • Sector 3, Completed
  • Complete My Secret 1
  • Sector 4, Completed
  • Behind The Scenes
  • Push Me To Completion
  • Complete My Secret 2
  • Attractive
  • Sector 5, Completed
  • Find The Developers
  • Complete My Secret 3
  • Tough Going
  • Sector 6, Completed
  • The Ball
  • Fizzicks
  • Sector 7, Completed
  • Finale

Step 2: Against the Qlock levels
The only thing left now will be to beat most of the Against the Qlock challenge rooms in order to unlock the Hover Headway one where can get the remaining trophy (please refer to its description for more details).

  • Whatever Floats Your Boat

Step 3: Clean up
This won't be necessary if you followed this walkthrough but if you missed some secret areas or couldn't solve their puzzles before, then this will be the time to replay the appropriate sector(s) and get them!

19 trophies ( 17  )

  • Don't touch the floor in Hover Headway

This is the only trophy you won't be able to unlock in the main campaign. Instead, you will have to select the Against the Qlock menu. What you will find there is a series of 10 speed-run challenges. You can earn up to three medals per challenge: getting the bronze time will earn you one medal, getting the silver time will earn you two and the gold time will earn you three. Medals also serve the purpose of unlocking the following challenge rooms.

Hover Headway is the ninth one and you will need 20 medals to unlock it, which means you will have to get gold on nearly all of the first eight ones. While most are fairly easy and doable after a couple of tries, a few will prove harder. As a reference, here is a list of the eight first levels and my medal recommendation (clicking on their names will take you to video walkthroughs, courtesy of Ackter's Walkthroughs and DRM Gamec):

This is just a suggestion though, feel free to earn those 20 medals with the challenges you’re most comfortable with.

Once you have unlocked Hover Headway, the trophy is quite simple: in the areas delimited by green and black checks, you mustn't touch the ground, you can only use the green floating blocks to progress. Time doesn't matter here so you can take as much as you need to carefully plan your moves.
You might need to retry it a few times (especially for the parts where you need to rotate doorways while you’re moving or use the fans), but it shouldn’t be too hard.

If you need help achieving this then don't hesitate to check this video walkthrough from 1:33:25.

  • Complete Sector 6

Self-explanatory, complete the sixth sector to unlock this trophy. Shortly after unlocking Tough Going, you will see a cutscene with a big white structure emerging from the ground. You will then exit this room and navigate through corridors until you reach an elevator that will take you down. The trophy will unlock after dropping down a hole upon exiting it.

If you need help solving some of the puzzles then don't hesitate to check this video walkthrough from 50:50.

  • Complete Sector 7

Self-explanatory, complete the seventh sector to unlock this trophy. Shortly after completing the Fizzicks puzzle, you will take another elevator down. The trophy will unlock upon reaching the next doorway.

If you need help solving some of the puzzles then don't hesitate to check this video walkthrough from 1:16:16.

  • Complete the series of magnet puzzles in Sector 5

After exiting the secret area in sector 5 (which takes you back to the other side of the room you entered it in), the next few puzzles will feature magnet switches. The trophy will unlock as soon as you solved the last one (with the magnet switch you need to rotate).

If you need help solving these puzzles then don't hesitate to check this video walkthrough from 43:20.

  • Complete the second ball puzzle in Sector 7

This puzzle can't be missed, it’s the one with the big ramp and blockages you have to open with the help of a green ball. Solve it to unlock the trophy.

If you need help solving this puzzle then don't hesitate to check this video walkthrough from 1:19:15.

  • Complete the hardest puzzle in the game

The hardest puzzle in the game is the one with the four magnet switches (one on each side of puzzle), two red blocks on one side, two big and two small grey blocks. You will need to use the magnets to move the grey blocks. Note that they don’t go at the same speed: the small ones are faster than the big ones.

Facing the red blocks, you will need to separate the grey blocks into two groups (each having one small and one big block): one group on the left side and the other between the red blocks. Then you will have to switch the positions of the left group to have both small blocks closest to the wall you’re facing. Then, you will need to position the grey blocks on the rays of lights to unlock the exit (and the trophy).

Remember that you can always hit the orange reset button if you feel you're going nowhere.

If you need help solving this puzzle then don't hesitate to check this video walkthrough from 1:09:50.

  • Complete the final physics puzzle

This puzzle can’t be missed, it's the one with the cracked glass floor. Solve it to unlock the trophy.

If you need help solving this puzzle then don't hesitate to check this video walkthrough from 1:26:30.

  • Find a picture of the developers

After solving the first puzzle of sector 6 and going down another elevator, you will come to a room with two inactive red blocks on the left and a big hole in the ground on the right with an inactive blue block at the bottom. Don’t solve this right now. Instead, use the broken parts of the right wall and the ledge to go over the hole (it seems tricky but is actually pretty easy). Go up the ramp there, and when you’re at the top you will notice a hole in the ground in the middle of the path with stairs going down. Take these to find yourself in a room with the picture of the developers and unlock the trophy.

If you need help locating this area then don't hesitate to check this video walkthrough from 55:15.

  • Complete Q.U.B.E.

Self-explanatory, finish the main campaign the unlock this trophy. It should pop as the credits start rolling out.

You won't need help for this part as you are only required to walk a little and watch a cinematic but you can still check it in the video walkthrough from 1:29:00.

  • Find the hidden area in Sector 5

After completing all the puzzles in the dark rooms, you will find yourself in a room where the bottom half of the walls look like stairs coming down towards the centre and the exit doorway straight in front of you. Instead of heading there, go to the cavity on left handside and go through the wall once again (like you did for Complete My Secret 1). The trophy will pop shortly after going through the wall.

If you need help finding this area or solving this puzzle then don't hesitate to check this video walkthrough from 38:45.

  • Complete the hidden beta puzzle in Sector 5

You will find this puzzle right after the Push Me To Completion area. You will notice a green ball in some sort of labyrinth with tilting switches on each side. What you need to do is navigate the ball to make it reach the green area on the other end of the path by raising and lowering the sides of the labyrinth.

If you need help solving this puzzle then don't hesitate to check this video walkthrough from 40:20.

  • Push the ball in the hidden area in Sector 5 down the hallway

Navigate through the secret area in sector 5 (see Behind The Scenes) until you come to green ball at the bottom of a ramp. All you have to do to get this trophy is spawn another ball at the top with the orange button and push it down the ramp.

If you need help solving this puzzle then don't hesitate to check this video walkthrough from 39:45.

  • Complete the hidden puzzle in Sector 6

During sector 6, you will come to a big room with loose balls and big stairs in front of you. Take the stairs to the left, and once you reach the upper floor jump on the ledge protruding from the wall to reach a cavity located above the entrance. Once again, you will be able to go through the back wall and enter a secret area. The puzzle you'll find there works in the same manner as the one for Complete My Secret 2, only with two green balls.

If you need help finding this area or solving this puzzle then don't hesitate to check this video walkthrough from 58:45.

  • Complete the hidden puzzle in Sector 4

After solving the first puzzle of sector 4, you will come to a room where you have to use two blue blocks (one on the ground, one high on the wall behind you) to reach the exit on the upper ledge. Once you're up there, instead of going for the exit, go to the little cavity on one of the side: You can actually go through the back wall, entering the first hidden area of the game.
You will reach a puzzle comprised solely of red blocks and rotating switches and will notice that the red blocks have patterns drawn on one side. What you need to do to solve this puzzle (and earn the trophy) is recreate with those blocks the pattern you can see by transparency in the front.

If you need help finding this area or solving this puzzle then don't hesitate to check this video walkthrough from 21:00.
