Introduction:

Putty Squad is a 1994 2-D side-scrolling platformer developed by System 3. The game features you playing through 9 worlds with 44 different levels in total, the objective is to morph and move your putty around the levels, defeating and dodging enemies to collect red putties. Once you collect all the red putties a door will open and allow you to exit the level and continue onward. The platforming is fun and the overall gameplay is quite enjoyable. Trophy wise, this Platinum is pretty easy. The speed run trophies are a headache at times but overall the game is fairly straightforward once you get the hang of it.

30 trophies ( 16  8  )

  • HERO

Complete all Trophies and defeat Scatterflash to be crowned King Putty

Nothing new here, just earn every trophy and this is yours.

  • Collect an 'N' item; then use a Nitro bomb, either as Putty, or from a POD, to blow up a Toad enemy.

This is a very easy trophy. Nitro bombs are little jars with a big letter "N" on them and are found throughout the game. In the first few levels you will see plenty of toads laying around so pick up the Nitro bomb ammo by standing over it and fire it at a toad with . When the bomb explodes and destroys the toad, the trophy will pop.

  • Absorb a Firework Imp and then use it as an item in order to kill an enemy with a Firework Imp rocket.

In most levels you will find armored blue enemies with rockets in their hands stand on them to absorb them (like with food or Nitro) and you will be able to fire their rocket. Now find any enemy and fire the rocket at them with , if you kill the enemy then the trophy will pop.

  • Collect Stars in order to upgrade Putty's attack power. Obtain and use all of his power-ups.

Unmissable, see STAR CATCHER for more info.

  • Get your on-screen Star Counter up to 50 by collecting the Stars hidden around each level.

Unmissable, see STAR CATCHER for more info.

  • Get your on-screen Star Counter up to 200 by collecting the Stars hidden around each level.

This trophy will require you to play in marathon mode, in the game you have a little bar on the side of your screen that shows you a power up you are at. The more Stars you collect, the more your power will go up. Stars are little yellow Stars found in every level they give you points and are required for the challenges normally in challenge mode. In marathon mode as you collect the Stars the total number of the one you have will go up slowly per level. Play a bunch of levels in marathon mode collecting as many Stars as you can until your total count is 200 and the trophy will thus pop.

  • Knock out Dweezil the cat; then use his tummy to bounce to a higher area.

Dweezil is a big orange cat that is found in tons of levels of the game so when you see him, bump into him and he will fall over. Now jump on his stomach and you will bounce up into the air, then the trophy will pop.

  • Unearth and kill all GI Pups within a level.

Unmissable, you will earn this naturally whilst playing the challenge mode.

  • Obtain a 'P' item, then use the POD vehicle to collect a Star.

Unmissable. You will earn this when you go for the DARK FLOATER trophy, that is if you haven't already earned it by then.

  • Save all Red Putties and get to the exit of Level 1.1: Tomb Of King Phut in 1:10 or less.

This trophy is a bit of a challenge because beating the level in 1:10 is pretty hard, the key to it is to find a good route through the level and breeze through it. Only focus on collecting putties, don't defeat enemies and get done as fast as possible. I am normally able to complete the level, just in time at around 55 seconds.

    TIPS:

    - Spam and then push over and over, this inflates your character and then makes him fall. I found that this lets him move faster.
    - Morph up and down with through walls and barriers or even on land to move faster.
    - Use power ups like shields, Nitro and pods.

  • Save all Red Putties and get to the exit of Level 2.1 : Bizarre Bazaar in 1:15 or less.

This level is much more do-able then the previous one, just play it quickly and focus only on the Red Putties.

    TIPS:

    - Spam and then push over and over, this inflates your character and then makes him fall. I found that this lets him move faster.
    - Morph up and down with through walls and barriers or even on land to move faster.
    - Use power ups like shields, Nitro and pods.

  • Save all Red Putties and get to the exit of Level 2.2 : The Wailing Tower in 1:30 or less.

This level is involves going up a tower to get the Putties, rather than it just being an open level. The Wailing Tower is very easy to do in time so just inflate yourself with then anytime you get on an area with a Red Putty, just collect him and keep moving and don't worry about killing enemies.

    TIPS:

    - Always stay inflated.
    - Use power ups to your advantage.
    - Don't use a pod. This is because it is harder to control and can only be used once, apart from your inflation ability which can be used infinitely.

  • Save all Red Putties and get to the exit of Level 3.2 : Fortress Of Klud in 1:30 or less.

This level is a bit of an annoyance, the reason being it is full of enemies and it is easy to die which wastes time. Luckily there are multiple shield power ups on the top of the level use these Power-Ups, they will certainly help you kill time. Go fast on this level and hope that you don't get taken down on the bottom section.

    TIP:

    - Three words: Shield Power-Ups.

  • Save all Red Putties and get to the exit of Level 1.5 : Watchtower Of Squirt in 1:45 or less.

I earned this naturally, I didn't even realize I was on the level until the trophy popped at the end. It's another tower level. Just inflate yourself and avoid enemies, like the last few speed runs.

    TIPS:

    - Always stay inflated.
    - Use power ups to your advantage.
    - Don't use a pod. This is because it is harder to control and can only be used once, apart from your inflation ability which can be used infinitely.

  • Save all Red Putties and get to the exit of Level 4.4 : Dr Sushi's Dinner Of Fear in 1:52 or less.

This level isn't too bad, it's a bit bigger than previous ones but on both my playthroughs on the PS4 and Vita I did it on my first try. Just stick to the basis of what I've said for the past few speed run trophies i.e. move fast, avoid enemies and you will succeed.

    TIPS:

    - Spam and then push over and over, this inflates your character and then makes him fall I found that this lets him move faster.
    - Morph up and down with through walls and barriers or even on land to move faster.
    - Use power ups like shields, Nitro and pods.

  • Save all Red Putties and get to the exit of Level 5.2 : Fun Land in 1:15 or less.

This level may be hard for some since you have to move around swiftly plus there are a lot of rocket enemies and Nitro pickups on this map so use those to your advantage, because a lot of enemies are in barbed wire that has to be destroyed. Not many enemies should bother you on the upper levels, it's all about moving fast and beating the time limit.

    TIPS:

    - Stay inflated with .
    - Use the pod to drop Nitro on the barbed wire areas to make you collecting easier and faster.

  • Save all Red Putties and get to the exit of Level 7.9 : Major Smith's Escape Tunnel in 2:15 or less.

This is the hardest trophy in the game, the level is very large and even though the time required is 2:15, it can still be a headache. When you spawn in on the left side of the level, the whole area will be cluttered with enemies. Move very fast and avoid being overwhelmed with enemies, utilize nitro and be sure you use it wisely, I was unable to beat the level a lot because I ran out of nitro ammo. Move very fast and don't get overwhelmed by the carrot enemies with guns because they are concentrated in the bottom area, however in the bottom area there is a disguise pick up on the far right. I highly advise you pick this up as it will prevent the enemies from attacking you.

Once you have cleared out the left side, quickly rush towards the right and on your way up the platforms be sure to absorb all of the rocket enemies as they will prove very helpful. Move quickly down the platforms towards the right, getting food for health is needed. Once you have gotten every putty on the right, quickly inflate yourself back towards the door, which spawns on the top right. If you do this fast enough you should be able to beat it within 2:00. My fastest time was on the Vita when I did it in 1:55, I died once on the PS4 and still beat it in time so don't give up if you die.

    TIPS:

    - Use any power up you find (especially the disguise one).
    - If you are on the bottom area and are on low health, it's better to just kill yourself by letting the pickaxe hit you, you will spawn back on top and can quickly rush down the ladder and avoid all the carrot enemies.
    - Utilize your ammo for Nitro and rockets, a lot of the putties on this level are in barbed wire and will require you to be precise with your shots.

  • Save all Red Putties and get to the exit of Level 6.1 : Gateway To The North in 1:15 or less.

Another tower level. Inflate yourself with , watch your surroundings and this should be cake.

  • Collect all Stars and finish Level 9.3 : Night Flight in 0:40 or less.

This trophy is difficult. In this level you will be in a pod and will have to fly through floating bombs to collect stars. If you just so happen to nudge one of the bombs, you will explode and will make beating this level in 40 seconds impossible, you will have to move fast and not die in order to complete this level in time.

    TIPS:

    - Get used to the pod controls, the controls are bit clunky at first but if you adjust to them then you will be able to fly better and move faster
    - If you die then don't try and wing it to see if you can beat it in time. Trust me you can't, just restart the level and try again.
    - If you are struggling don't get worked up. Be patent and in time this will be done.
    - Be fast but precise, don't rush because if you do then you are more likely to die.

  • Jump on a GI Pup's head, then punch the helmet so that it takes out at least three enemies in a row.

Pups are the most common enemies in the game, they are little orange dogs with green helmets on. If you jump on them, they will fall into their helmet and if you punch their helmet then it will go flying and will defeat any enemy in its path. For this trophy you must hit a pup's helmet at 3 enemies and have it kill all of them. There are tons of areas to do this, but the best place is probably on any of the tower levels as they normally can have 10 enemies on a single level. Line them up right and this trophy should be nothing to sweat over.

There are a total of 99 Stickers in Putty Squad, you will earn 45 for the challenges and then earn 45 for collecting the rest in marathon mode. Everytime you earn all the Stickers for a world, you are awarded an extra one for that world which makes for an additional 9. In challenge mode you will earn Stickers for completing all the challenges for a specific level. The challenges are always the same and are super easy they are as follows:

    - Complete the level without losing a life
    - Complete the level without eating any food
    - Complete the level
    - Kill all pups in the level
    - Collect all stars for the level
    - Beat the level in the time limit

In marathon mode the stickers are scattered around the levels and have to be picked up, most levels have one Sticker each some levels may have 2 or more stickers. Stickers in marathon mode are big yellow Stars with faces on them, they bounce up and down and are normally placed right in the middle of the level. Since the levels in the game are basically just small maps, all you have to do to find the Sticker is enter map mode by pressing then scan the map briefly when you enter the game and you will see the sticker bobbing up and down in the middle of the level. Just run over to where it is at and pick it up, you don't have to complete the level after you collect it, you can leave the level once you have the sticker. You can get all the stickers in Marathon mode in roughly 5 minutes.

You will notice that some levels have another level connected to them. Some of these levels also have stickers and to access these levels, you must find the hidden door on the level connected to it. The doors are very big, red ones that appear when you stand in their hidden spot. Enter a level that has a level connected to it and run around the level in all the areas that have solid ground on them. The doors are relatively easy to find with some trial and error. Please note that not every hidden door leads to a level with a Sticker and not every level has just one door. If you are wondering what levels have Stickers, go to the Sticker book and look at the info on that Sticker. Also note that some doors will lead you to a level in an entirely different world.
