Persona 5 Tactica Road Map

Introduction:
Persona 5 Tactica is the latest in a long line of Persona spin-offs, with this time P Studio opting to tackle an XCOM-style game with its faithful cast of Phantom Thieves. For the uninitiated, when we say XCOM-style game, we mean an isometric top-down turn-based strategy game - think of it like action chess.

Boasting a classic Persona story and experience, with the original voice cast, in a brand-new world, Persona 5 Tactica is a pretty engrossing single-player game, with plenty of variety and set-pieces to tackle along the way. It’s a pretty great game, in truth.

Walkthrough - First Playthrough
Not only is Persona 5 Tactica an enjoyable romp, it’s also a fairly easy platinum. Now, it’s not a quick and easy completion, to be fair - you’re looking at 40-50 hours - but it is a fairly easy one. 

The only reason that it’s 40-50 hours is because you effectively need to complete the game 1.75 times, because the Collection of Knowledge trophy_gold.png trophy (awarded for 100%ing the Persona Compendium) has a number of New Game Plus only Personas you need to fuse - and that means getting to level 91 in your second run too. Fear not, we’ll tackle that shortly, but first things first, let’s talk about your first run through.

For your first playthrough, you can basically get away with playing the game naturally, but you’ll want to pay attention to a few things.

Firstly, don’t worry about the Metaverse Aristocrat trophy_silver.png trophy (accumulated 666,666 yen) as it’s cumulative - so you can spend cash when you get it.

Secondly, we’d advise trying to fill the Persona Compendium as you go, so you don’t have to do it all at the end. That said, feel free to ignore us and do them all at the end if you want. Your call.

And finally, the only thing you really need to pay attention to while you play is the following:
  • Be sure to switch out characters and mix up your starting line-ups until you’ve got every character’s combat trophy (i.e. use Joker’s Despair 20 times).
  • Try to take advantage of the One More and All-Out Attack systems as you go. Not only will it make the game infinitely easier, but there’s trophies tied to them too.
  • Also, you’ll want to get your character level to 99 on your first run, so you can drop your second run as soon as you hit level 91.
And lastly, you can pretty much do everything, from Awards, Quests and Talk conversations all the way up until the 50th mission. After you’ve finished the 50th mission and the boss that is tied to it, you’ll head back to the Hideout. This is the point of no return, so make sure you prep a save just in case. After this point you’ll fight the multi-staged final boss, and then roll straight into New Game Plus.

As we’ve already said, all that’s left to do to get the platinum and finish the game will be to get to level 91 and fusing the 12 New Game Plus Personas. This will unlock the final trophy (and the platinum):That took us about an extra 10-15 hours, in truth. Fear not though, if you take our advice in the guide, it'll probably take you a lot less time (as we didn't formulate our plan until during New Game Plus).

Conclusion
And there you have it, folks. After a good 40-50 hours you’ll have completed Persona 5 Tactica nearly twice, but more importantly you’ll have that platinum trophy. As we said, it’s a thoroughly enjoyable game, and a list that shouldn't be too taxing. That said, it could take much longer if you don’t plan as you go, but there are plenty of shortcuts in the guide below that will make sure you're as efficient as possible.

  • Legendary Phantom Thief

     

    Earned all trophies.

    Simply get all 39 trophies in Persona 5 Tactica, and once you have, you’ll unlock the 40th and final trophy, this fine and dandy platinum. Congratulations!

  • Collection of Knowledge

     

    Filled all entries in Persona Compendium.

    It wouldn't be a Persona game without a “fill all entries in the Persona Compendium” trophy, and Persona 5 Tactica is no different. In order to unlock the ‘Collection of Knowledge’ trophy in the game you need to collect all 206 Personas.

    There are, however, a few things in Persona 5 Tactica that make this perhaps the easiest out of the lot of them:
    • Firstly, it's definitely not as hard as the mainline games and that's down to the fact that you’ll get Personas as end of mission rewards, and won’t need to capture them.
    • Secondly, you can carry a ton more Persona out of the gate, and you’ll unlock extra storage capacity after you’ve completed each Kingdom.
    • And finally, the vast majority of the fuses are 1 + 1 type Fusions. There are no triple-threat fusions per se, and only 19 Special Fusions (of 3 characters or more), but those unlock naturally as you go through the game and the game lists these for you in the Special Fusions section as soon as you unlock them. You’ll also be allowed to summon already registered Personas from the same menu without going back to Compendium to summon them, so it’s super quick - provided you’ve already registered the required ingredients for the fuse.
    On top of that, it should be noted that you'll only be able to fill 94% of the Person Compendium in your first playthrough (194). While most are unlocked via simple fusions, you will need to complete all the Persona 5 Tactica’s Quests too, as each Kingdom’s batch of Quests will unlock a new Persona to fuse.     The other 6% (12 Personas) are tied to New Game Plus.

    Fear not, though, we've prepared a full Persona 5 Tactica Personas fusion list, which should make sure you get this trophy with ease.

    What we will add here, however, is a couple of strats that you should adopt as soon as you are of sufficient level, to make this process less painstaking.

    Firstly, you’ll want a serious amount of money and XP to fuse all of these - money to retrieve Personas to fuse all of them needed to 100% the Persona Compendium, and XP to get to level 91 in New Game Plus to finish off the Compendium.

    In order to do that you’ll want to fuse the following Personas before you get into New Game Plus - as your level will be reset to level 0 when you do.

    Below you will find the best Personas to fuse for making money and grinding XP. Then, you can pick and choose which you need to prioritise. For instance, if you want to grind purely money, you can; while if you want to prioritise XP, you can do that too. 

    Two quick notes before we press on: Firstly, the abilities do stack across characters (so, using three characters with the Easy Money passive Persona ability will count towards your money earnings); and secondly, one Persona cannot have two instances of the same ability, but they can have 2 different traits of the same category (so, a Persona can’t have two instances of Easy Money, but it can have Easy Money and Treasure Hunter).

    First things first, here are a list of Personas with notable XP & money passive traits:
    • Sandman (Level 23) - Treasure Hunter - Increases money gained at end of battle.
    • Neko Shogun (Level 30) - Keen Eye - Increases drop rate of rare Personas.
    • Anubis (Level 35) - Keen Eye - Increases drop rate of rare Personas.
    • Tam Lin (Level 32) - Efficiency Aficionado - Increases EXP gained in battle.
    • Dionysus (Level 71) - Knack for Conflict - Greatly increases EXP gained in battle.
    • Ganesha (Level 51) - Easy Money - Greatly increases money gained at end of battle.
    The best Persona to grind money, then, is Ganesha. Here’s how to fuse the best money grinding version of Ganesha:
    • Ganesha (with Easy Money & Treasure Hunter):
      • Yaksini + Sandman = Pisaca (carry over Treasure Hunter)
      • Pisaca + King Frost = Valkyrie (carry over Treasure Hunter)
      • Valkyrie + Sarasvati = Ganesha (carry over Treasure Hunter)
    Then, for your other 2 characters, use Ganesha in a fuse and carry over Easy Money - make sure you’ve registered the aforementioned one first, though. You can fuse the following Personas (amongst other more) using Ganesha to create a Persona with Easy Money:
    • Abaddon (Level 76) - Ganesha + Surt
    • Arahabaki (Level 34) - Sudama + Ganesha
    • Atavaka (Level 63) - Ganesha + Bishamonten

      • Cait Sith + High Pixie + Leanan Sidhe = Tam Lin
      • Tam Lin + Thor = Ganesha (carry over Efficiency Aficionado)
      • Ganesha + Mother Harlot (or Alilat) = Dionysus (carry over Efficiency Aficionado)
    Then, for your other 2 characters, use Dionysus in a fuse and carry over Knack for Conflict. You can fuse the following Personas (amongst others) using Dionysus:
    • Abaddon (Level 76) - Yamata-no-Orochi + Dionysus / Loa + Dionysus / Dionysus + Macabre
    • Atavaka (Level 63) - Baphomet + Dionysus
    • Attis (Level 73) - Bishamonten + Dionysus
    • Barong (Level 49) - Dionysus + Take-Minakata
    • Bishamonten (Level 70) - Dominion + Dionysus / Byakhee + Dionysus

    • Ganesha (with Easy Money & Knack for Conflict) - Dionysus + Naga (carry over Knack for Conflict)
    So, if you’re going for XP, you should have a Dionysus fuse with Knack for Conflict and Efficiency Aficionado; and if you’re going for money, you should have a Ganesha with Easy Money and Treasure Seeker. There are, of course, different variations of each if you want to focus on everything, so make your choices wisely.

Check out that guide here:Once you have all 206 Personas, you’ll unlock the ‘Collection of Knowledge’ trophy, which should be your last - and will thus, unlock the platinum trophy too.

  • Grand Thievery

     

    Earned all awards.

    Awards in Persona 5 Tactica are optional end of mission criteria that you can accomplish for better rewards from a mission. These will include things like, finishing the mission with no characters being knocked out, or finishing it within a certain amount of turns. 

    You’ll be able to see what Awards you need to achieve per level in the Pre-Battle screen (where you choose your party, change your Personas and visit the Velvet Room), just hit the square.png button.

    In order to get the ‘Grand Thievery’ trophy in Persona 5 Tactica, you’ll need to get 3-stars on all non-boss missions - there are 51 missions in total before the final boss, but you’ll only need to do 44 for the ‘Grand Thievery’ trophy, as the other missions are boss missions and cannot be replayed.

    Fear not though, this isn’t a one-shot attempt and you’re done trophy. Thankfully, a short way into the game you’ll unlock the Replay function, which you can access when in Leblanc’s, which allows you to retry missions you’ve already attempted. You can access this by going to Hideout, and then going to Replay in the hideout menu.

    These can be replayed whenever, and in whatever order you want. You can even go back to Kingdoms after you’ve moved on, and can take in better weapons and Personas that you would have had access to at that time too.

    So, the ‘Grand Thievery’ trophy is super simple, really. In our experience, we 3-starred probably 95% of the missions on our first attempt, and then the other 5% we nailed on our second try.

    Just one thing to note: After you’ve finished mission 50 and beaten the boss tied to the stage just after mission 50 (in mission 51), that will be the point of no return, so make sure you’ve unlocked the ‘Grand Thievery’ trophy before you move on to mission 52.

  • Quality Time at Leblanc

     

    Watched all hideout Talk conversations.

    Throughout the Persona 5 Tactica campaign you’ll unlock short interactions between certain group characters and allies, known as “Talk” conversations.

    There are 30 in all, that happen post mission 4, and are dotted throughout the campaign all the way through to just after mission 51, when you hit the point of no return. In order to unlock the ‘Quality Time at Leblanc’ trophy, you have to watch all 30 conversations, which is fairly easy, in truth, as a.) new conversations show up on the main menu when at the hideout with a big yellow exclamation mark; and b.) you can watch them whenever, as long as you do it before the point of no return (just after mission 50 and the boss that follows in mission 51).

    While they’re entertaining enough on their own, they also reward you with Growth Points too. For every conversation from missions 4-12 you’ll receive 2GPs; for every conversation from missions 13 to 26 you’ll get 3 GPs; and for 27 onwards, you’ll receive 6GPs - which are invaluable for character progression.

    All of the Talk conversations and when you unlock them are as follows:
    1. “The Dire State of Things” - First time you get to the Hideout with Erina (post mission 4).
    2. “The Citizens’ Appearances” - Before you leave the Hideout after getting a load of tutorials (still post mission 4).
    3. “The Power of Erina” - This will be available after you’ve rescued Ann and Futaba (after mission 8).
    4. “Panther and Oracle Awaken” - After you’ve been granted proper access to the Velvet Room, and taught how to fuse Personas, this will be the next mission.
    5. “Noir and Skull Revived” - Available after rescuing Ryuji and Haru in mission 11.
    6. “The Safety of Leblanc” - Available after rescuing Ryuji and Haru in mission 11.
    7. “Queen and Fox Returned” - Available after rescuing Yusuke and Makoto in mission 14.
    8. “The Kingdom’s Marie” - Available after rescuing Yusuke and Makoto in mission 14.
    9. “The Power of the Flag” - Available after rescuing Yusuke and Makoto in mission 14.
    10. “Futaba and Toshiro’s Strategy” - After mission 14, just before you head out to mission 15.
    11. “Erina’s Secret Training” - Available after mission 18.
    12. “The Ideal Marriage” - Available after mission 18.
    13. “A New Country” - Available in the second Kingdom, after completing mission 23.
    14. “Another World” - Available after completing mission 24.
    15. “Checking the New Outfits” - Available after completing mission 24.

  • Unparalleled Growth

     

    Reached max level.

    The max level in Persona 5 Tactica is 99 - whether you’re talking about your Personas or your Phantom Thieves level. For the ‘Unparalleled Growth’ trophy though, it’s specifically talking about your Phantom Thieves level, which is tied to the level of the controllable characters.

    We’ve already discussed grinding XP under the Collection of Knowledge trophy_gold.png trophy, but we’ll mention it here too for ease of access.

    Firstly, the two key Persona that you’ll want to use - and fuse better variations of - are:
    • Tam Lin (Level 32) - Efficiency Aficionado - Increases EXP gained in battle.
    • Dionysus (Level 71) - Knack for Conflict - Greatly increases EXP gained in battle.
    Now, the ultimate XP earning Persona is a fusion of the two, so you have both Efficiency Aficionado and Knack for Conflict in a Dionysus. You can do that by fusing the following:
    • Dionysus (with Efficiency Aficionado & Knack for Conflict):
      • Cait Sith + High Pixie + Leanan Sidhe = Tam Lin
      • Tam Lin + Thor = Ganesha (carry over Efficiency Aficionado)
      • Ganesha + Mother Harlot (or Alilat) = Dionysus (carry over Efficiency Aficionado)
    And then finally, for your other 2 characters’ Personas, use Dionysus to fuse 2 other Personas, and carry over Knack for Conflict (just register the super Dionysus we mentioned above first). You can fuse the following Personas using Dionysus:
    • Abaddon (Level 76) - Yamata-no-Orochi + Dionysus / Loa + Dionysus / Dionysus + Macabre
    • Atavaka (Level 63) - Baphomet + Dionysus
    • Attis (Level 73) - Bishamonten + Dionysus
    • Barong (Level 49) - Dionysus + Take-Minakata
    • Bishamonten (Level 70) - Dominion + Dionysus / Byakhee + Dionysus

That guide can be found here:So, our advice is to play normally until you can fuse Tam Lin (level 32) and use them until you can fuse Dionysus at level 71. Then, at this point, you should be deep into the campaign and now you can start grinding money and XP - using level 43 in the guide above.

    At this point you can probably get from level 71 to level 99 in well under an hour, and unlock the ‘Unparalleled Growth’ trophy before you take on the final boss - as your level will be reset when you get to New Game Plus.

  • Metaverse Aristocrat

     

    Accumulated 666,666 yen.

    The good news with the ‘Metaverse Aristocrat’ trophy is that this is a cumulative trophy, and doesn’t require you to be carrying that amount of money to unlock it - we know this for sure as it popped for us when we had 545,505 yen in our wallet (yes, we were carrying that much as we weren’t sure what the case would be when we started out).

    We’ve already discussed grinding yen under the Collection of Knowledge trophy_gold.png trophy, but like we did for the previous max level trophy (Unparalleled Growth trophy_silver.png), we’ll mention it here as well to make things easier for you.

    Before we kick things off, the 2 key Personas with notable unique money abilities for grinding money are:
    • Sandman (Level 23) - Treasure Hunter - Increases money gained at end of battle.
    • Ganesha (Level 51) - Easy Money - Greatly increases money gained at end of battle.
    And of course, the best grinding money Persona is a fusion of the two. The best Persona to grind money, then, is Ganesha with both of the aforementioned traits. Here’s how to fuse it:
    • Ganesha (with Easy Money & Treasure Hunter):
      • Yaksini + Sandman = Pisaca (carry over Treasure Hunter)
      • Pisaca + King Frost = Valkyrie (carry over Treasure Hunter)
      • Valkyrie + Sarasvati = Ganesha (carry over Treasure Hunter)
    Then, for your other 2 characters, use Ganesha in a fuse and carry over Easy Money (again, make sure the Ganesha you just fused is saved in your Compendium, so you can easily grab it after). You can fuse the following Personas using Ganesha:

  • The Ultimate Mask

     

    Fused Satanael.

    In order to fuse Satanael in Persona 5 Tactica, you’ll need to do a few things first. Firstly, you’ll need to finish all of the game’s 15 Quests (which you’ll need to do anyway for the Conqueror of Kingdoms trophy_silver.png trophy).

    And secondly, you’ll need to have fused and added the following Personas to your Persona Compendium:
    • Anzu (Level 30)
    • Ishtar (Level 84)
    • Michael (Level 85)
    • Satan ( Level 92)
    • Lucifer (Level 93)
    Then, once you’ve got all them, you can head to the Velvet Room and go to Fuse Personas, and then go to Special Fusions, where the level 96 Persona will be listed at the bottom.

    You’ll need to fuse Satanael for the Collection of Knowledge trophy_gold.png trophy anyway, but if you do need assistance on how to fuse any of the aforementioned Persona, check out our 100% Persona Compendium guide:

  • Conqueror of Kingdoms

     

    Completed all quests.

    Once you’ve rescued Ann and Futaba in mission 8 of Persona 5 Tactica, you’ll not only unlock some capabilities of the Velvet Room, but you’ll also unlock side quests, known simply as Quests.

    You’ll be able to access the quests from your hideout, by going to Hideout and then Quest (not to be confused with the Quests tab under the Prep menu that just keeps track of them).

    There are 15 Quests to complete in all, and they’ll open up 1 or even 2 at a time as you progress through the main story - a list of all the Quests and when they unlock can be found further down below. 

    Once you complete each Kingdom’s batch of quests too, you’ll unlock a new Persona that you can fuse - which counts towards the Collection of Knowledge trophy_gold.png trophy too. Those Personas are:
    • Principality (Level 28) - For completing all 5 Quests in Kingdom 1 - To be able to fuse this Persona: Ame-no-Uzume + Sandman /  Sandman + Neko Shogun / Naga + Pisaca / Lamia + Take-Minakata
    • Seth (Level 50 - Complete all 4 Quests in Kingdom 2 - To be able to fuse this Persona: It’s a Special Fusion that requires Isis + Anubis + Thoth + Horus
    • Black Frost (Level 69) - Complete all 3 Quests in Kingdom 3 - To be able to fuse this Persona: It’s a Special Fusion that requires Jack-o’-Lantern + Jack Frost + King Frost
    • Shiva (Level 90) - Complete all 3 Quests in Kingdom 4 - To be able to fuse this Persona: Rangda + Barong
    • Satanael (Level 96) - Complete all 15 Quests to be able to perform this Special Fusion - Requires Anzu + Ishtar + Michael + Satan + Lucifer
    The good news is that you don’t have to do these as they crop up (like the Awards), you just need to finish them all and unlock the ‘Conqueror of Kingdoms’ trophy before you go past the point of no return at the end of mission 50 (and its boss in mission 51).

  • Weapons Master

     

    Purchased 50 unique weapons.

    As is always the case in Persona games, the longer you play, the more weapons you'll be able to purchase from the in-game shop. To get the ‘Weapons Master’ trophy you simply need to purchase 50 different unique weapons.

    When you get into the final Kingdom, you'll be able to purchase 8 weapons per character, which once you buy them all, will add up to 56 unique weapons (for the 7 playable characters: Joker, Morgana, Ann, Ryuji, Makoto, Haru and Yusuke).

    That said, you will need to craft 10 weapons for the Novice Craftsman trophy_bronze.png trophy, so you won't need to purchase all 56 (although some do double up). If you stick to 50 in the shop though, you'll unlock the ‘Weapons Master’ trophy sooner or later.

  • Well Traveled

     

    Traversed 10,000 squares.

    You’ll absolutely get this trophy fairly early on in your time in Persona 5 Tactica. The fact that you can move around freely before you make a move, effectively makes this trophy a walk in the park - quite literally. 

    You’ll no doubt get into a rhythm of moving your characters around and getting them in position before you attack anyway - well, at least you should, as it’s the best way to get good results. That makes the ‘Well Traveled’ trophy one that you’ll no doubt get naturally as you play.

    Once you’ve walked 10,000 squares, this trophy will unlock.

  • Ultimate Strike

     

    Dealt 2,000 damage in a single attack.

    Getting 2,000 damage in a single attack is no straightforward affair in Persona 5 Tactica, and will need some solid planning to accomplish it. But fear not, though, folks, we've got a guaranteed method that works every single time.

    It’s kind of complicated, but there is a method to our madness. In fact, the first step in our Persona 5 Tactica - Best way to grind money and experience guide is exactly how you can get 2,000 damage in one move. So, if you want images and a step-by-step guide on which moves to make and where to stand, follow the link. If not, let our words here lead the way.

    This method can be enacted on the first turn on mission 43. You need to start with a squad that includes:
    • Morgana
    • Ryuji
    • Yusuke
    Yusuke needs to have both Speed Master and Auto-Masuku unlocked (under the Goemon Elusive Outlaw tree - second column) as well as Stop & Go (which increases Movement by 1 square after dashing) and God-Like-Speed (which increases Movement by 1 square). Morgana needs to have Stop & Go too (increases Movement by 1 square after dashing).

    Right, and now the moves to accomplish this devastating attack:
    • Yusuke - Move Yusuke up the ladder to the right and into the far left corner after coming up the ladder (it’s the one square that’s on its own is next to the cover that looks like a nut). Just leave him there.
    • Ryuji - Move Ryuji to the back of the map, and stand him on the square that is one block away from the cover (that looks like a nut too - not the one you eat). Leave them there as well.
    • [REDACTED] - Take them and shoot the explosive barrel that blocks the way to the north of the characters and where they start.
    • Morgana’s move is multi-staged… 
      • For the first part of the move, take Morgana through the gap and near to the ladder which leads up to the platform to the left of the level (from the perspective you start with). 
      • Then, you need to shoot/use a Persona ability on the enemy that was just dislodged by the explosive barrel. This will trigger the One More move, which will allow you to trigger an All-Out Attack. 
      • After that, climb the ladder and go to the far corner, near the ledge and the explosive barrel. When there, trigger the All-Out Attack.
    Doing this should hit 7 separate enemies. You’ll hit 3 standard enemies for 300 a piece and 1 for 134; as well as 3 Revenger type enemies for 380 damage each, bringing your damage to a grand total of 2,174. And thus, you’ll then become the proud owner of the ‘Ultimate Strike’ trophy.

  • Endless Journey

     

    Played through 500 turns.

    With Persona 5 Tactica being an XCOM-style game, the game is broken down into turns. You’ll take a turn - which is using abilities with all your characters or using the “End Turn” button - and then the enemy team will take a turn.

    Simply play through 500 turns (which we’re assuming is turns that you make, and doesn’t include both) and you’ll unlock the ‘Endless Journey’ trophy. 

    This is likely to be one of the last trophies you’ll unlock. We didn’t unlock it until deep in our second playthrough - and we even did a fair bit of grinding and testing solutions in our first playthrough too. If you’re nearing the end of your second playthrough and don’t have this yet, you can always start up a mission in Replay and just get everyone in cover, and hit “End Turn” constantly until it pops.

  • You're Wide Open!

     

    Triggered One More 200 times.

    There are multiple ways to trigger One More moves in Persona 5 Tactica, which does slightly differ to Persona 5 Royal (and all mainline Persona games). In those games to get a “One More” you need to hit them with an attack which hones in on their weakness.

    In Persona 5 Tactica, however, enemies don’t have weaknesses per se. In order to trigger a One More, you basically need to attack an enemy that’s not in cover.

    Now, sometimes, an enemy will just stand out in the open if they can’t get to cover. However, that won’t happen all too often in the grand scheme of things.

    What you will need to do then is push enemies from cover, by using any of the main character’s skills i.e. Ann’s fire attacks, Makoto’s nuclear attacks, and so on. Then, the next attack, whether it’s a shot from the gun, or a skill, will “down” them, and trigger a One More.

    The key to success in Persona 5 Tactica is triggering One Mores. Not only do they allow you to move further and do more damage, but they can also be used to trigger All-Out Attacks. Trigger 200 One Mores (which you should do naturally) and you’ll unlock the ‘You’re Wide Open’ trophy.

  • Perfect Aim

     

    Performed 100 shooting attacks.

    There are three types of attacks in Persona 5 Tactica: your skills, which involve both offensive and defensive; melee attacks; and shooting attacks.

    Gun attacks can be performed if you’re within a certain range and have a clean line of sight at the enemy you want to attack. If you do you’ll be able to hit the square.png button; and then the cross.png button to confirm the shot.

    Do that 100 times and you’ll unlock the ‘Perfect Aim’ trophy. Don’t sweat this one, as you’ll no doubt fire your guns hundreds of times before the credits roll.

  • Close-Quarters Offensive

     

    Performed 100 melee attacks.

    One of the secret weapons of Persona 5 Tactica are melee attacks. Sure, you can shoot enemies and use skills on them, but the melee attacks can take your game to the next level.

    To perform a melee attack, not only do you need to stand in the square next to an enemy, but you also need to be making sure that your character is also facing the way of the enemy too. Once you are, the prompt will appear to land a melee attack. When it does, hit the cross.png button and then hit it again to confirm your melee attack.

    Melee attacks in P5T can be used to knock people off ledges and out into the open (which is even better once you’ve unlocked the “Follow-Up” attacks), but they can also be used to knock enemies closer to other enemies, so you can use another character’s AOE attack to deal more damage to a group of them. You can also use it to get more value for the Phantom Thieves’ All-Out Attack by adopting that method too.

    Make sure you don’t sleep on the melee attacks, as it can be easy to just disregard them. Perform 100 melee attacks and the ‘Close-Quarters Offensive’ trophy is all yours. 

  • Manifest Your Will

     

    Used Persona skills 100 times.

    Persona “skills” in Persona 5 Tactica are any skills that are performed by a character’s Persona. These can be either defensive or support abilities, like Joker’s Rakukaja; or a more offensive ability, like Ryuji’s Maziodyne.

    Simply use these skills 100 times and the ‘Manifest Your Will’ trophy will unlock. You’ll likely smash through this one before you finish the first Kingdom, so don’t worry too much about it.

  • Walk Your Own Path

     

    Used unique skills 50 times.

    Now, the wording of this trophy can actually be a little bit confusing, because the first time you read it - like us - you might be thinking, “oh, I have to use 50 different skills, like Eiha, Eiga, Eigaon, Maeiha, Maeiga and Maeigaon, and so on…” That’s actually incorrect - although it’s not a massive stretch to assume that.

    In Persona 5 Tactica, “unique skills” are the name of skills that are used when you accrue and spend the Voltage gauge, which you’ll unlock a short way into the game.

    There are 8 abilities in all that classify as “unique skills,” and they are:
    • Joker - Phantom Judge
    • Mona - Winds of Time
    • Ann - Femme Fatale
    • Ryuji - Brigantine Blitzkrieg
    • Haru - Noble Lady’s Invitation
    • Yusuke - Like a Phantom
    • Makoto - Full Throttle
    • Erina - Flag of Freedom
    Use these abilities 50 times and the ‘Walk Your Own Path’ trophy will unlock.

  • Stylish Synergy

     

    Performed an All-Out Attack 50 times.

    The “All-Out Attack” mechanic in P5T is kind of similar to that of its main game counterpart, but with a twist. To perform one you first need to down an enemy.

    You can do that by first staggering an enemy to dislodge them from cover, so that they can no longer resist your attack - you can do this with most kinds of Persona skills. Enemies also stood out in the open, not behind cover, are also in this state.

    When the enemy is standing quivering on the spot (we’re talking the standard enemies here, but you can also down other enemy types too), they’re now free to be taken down. You'll know when you can down an enemy because it’ll say "Get Em!!" above that character when you target them. Down them and this will give that character a “One More” - see You're Wide Open! trophy_bronze.png.

    Once they're downed, you'll want to surround them with your active squad mates, so that the downed character is in the middle of the triangle that will appear between all 3 active squad mates - now that you’ve downed an enemy. You’ll know when you’ve done it correctly and can activate an All Out Attack when the triangle will set on fire.

    When the triangle is on fire, you'll finally want to go back to the character (or any character, in fact) who has downed a character and then hit the r2.png button. Once you confirm the attack, you'll perform an All-Out Attack, which does fantastic damage to anyone within that triangle.

    Do this 50 times and the ‘Stylish Synergy’ trophy is all yours. It's worth bearing in mind, however, that you can't perform an All-Out Attack if a character is under the Burn or Despair status ailment.

  • Irreplaceable Bonds

     

    Performed a Baton Pass 10 times.

    Fairly early on in Persona 5 Tactica you’ll unlock the trademark Persona “Baton Pass.” However, compared to its main game counterpart, this one behaves in an entirely different manner.

    In the main game when you down an enemy by focusing on their weakness, you can use a Baton Pass to allow another character to continue the assault. However, in Persona 5 Tactica, the Baton Pass is used when a character in your active squad loses all their health and is knocked out. The Baton Pass is then used to substitute in one of your standby units to replace the now KO’d unit.

    It’s worth bearing in mind, however, that you only have a set amount of Baton Passes per mission depending on which difficulty you play on. On Easy and Normal you have 3; on Hard you have 2; and on Merciless you have 1.
    So, lose 10 characters across your playthrough and call in a standby unit with the Baton Pass 10 different times, and you’ll unlock the ‘Irreplaceable Bonds’ trophy.

    If you’re struggling to get them by the time you get to the end of your second playthrough (we were, so had to grind this one out), just load up a Replay mission and lose characters on purpose until this unlocks.

  • New Heights

     

    Learned the final skill in a skill tree.

    Each of the 8 main characters in Persona 5 Tactica has a final skill ability that you can unlock while in the fourth and final Kingdom, which unlocks a severe version of their relevant spell (i.e. Joker’s final skill is the “Scythes of Eternal Darkness,” which “Deals severe damage in a large area” and inflicts Despair.

    These final skills are unlocked by completing the final 3 Quests of the fourth Kingdom, which come in the form of Lavenza’s Trials. There are 3 to complete, in all, with each of them unlocking the final skill for a number of characters.

    The trials and when they unlock - and who they unlock the final skills for - are as follows:
    1. Lavenza’s First Trial - Available after completing mission 44 and the boss fight that follows it. MC / Morgana / Makoto
    2. Lavenza’s Second Trial - Available after completing mission 44 and the boss fight that follows it. Yusuke / Ryuji / Ann
    3. Lavenza’s Third Trial - Available after completing mission 44 and the boss fight that follows it. Haru / Erina and [REDACTED]
    Once you’ve unlocked the final skill in the skill tree, you’ll still need to unlock it for 30 Growth Points to get this trophy - provided you’ve already unlocked the ‘heavy’ versions of that character’s relevant Persona skills.

    Don’t sweat this too much as you have to finish all 3 of Lavenza’s trials for Conqueror of Kingdoms trophy_silver.png anyway, and because you need to get to level 99 for Unparalleled Growth trophy_silver.png too and will have GPs aplenty. As long as you physically go in and unlock the skill, you’ll get the ‘New Heights’ trophy.

  • Accidents Happen

     

    Witnessed a fusion accident.

    Like the Collection of Knowledge trophy_gold.png trophy which is awarded for completing the Persona Compendium, it wouldn’t be a Persona trophy list without a “fusion accident” trophy - the worst of the worst, although this time, it’s not too bad.

    A fusion accident in Persona 5 Tactica is a random chance occurrence that happens when you’re in the Velvet Room and attempting to fuse Personas together. What occurs in a fusion accident is that instead of getting the Persona you’re trying to make, you get a random one instead.

    The ‘Accidents Happen’ trophy is pure luck, then, and if it’s anything like previous games, there’s a 1 in 64 chance of it happening with a 2 Persona fusion.

    That said, in previous games you’d only be able to carry a handful of Personas and you wouldn’t unlock Personas as mission rewards, meaning you’d be able to do fewer Persona fusions - or at least, it'd cost you a small fortune and take you a lot longer to do the same amount. 

    So, because in Persona 5 Tactica you get Personas as end of battle rewards, and you can hold a lot more (and more as the game goes on), this ultimately means you can spam Persona fusions until you get a fusion accident.

    I actually got it while at 22% completion of the Persona Compendium, while fusing Personas to fill it out, and probably got it another 20 times (annoyingly) on my way to 100%.

  • Big Spender

     

    Purchased 10 weapons.

  • Novice Dismantler

     

    Disassembled weapons 10 times.

    In Persona 5 Tactica you can’t actually “sell” your old weapons. Well, not in the usual sense of the word of going to a shop and selling them. Instead, you can disassemble them… for money. So, you basically sell them.

    To disassemble the weapon in P5T, while at Leblanc’s, go to Hideout, then to the Velvet Room, and then scroll down to Disassemble Weapon. When in that screen, hover over your unwanted and useless weapon, and then hit the triangle.png button.

    Do that with 10 weapons and the ‘Novice Dismantler’ trophy is all yours.

  • Novice Craftsman

     

    Fused weapons 10 times.

    After completing the 26th mission in Persona 5 Tactica, before you go out into the world on the 27th mission, you’ll get a call from Lavenza to go to the Velvet Room, where she’ll introduce you to a new technique: weapon fusing.

    Weapon fusing in P5T involves taking two Personas (of a specific type) and fusing them together to craft really powerful weapons - these weapons are the best weapons in Persona 5 Tactica. Incidentally, they also count towards the Weapons Master trophy_silver.png trophy too.

    All you need to do to unlock the ‘Novice Craftsmen’ trophy is fuse 10 weapons - and considering you have 8 characters that you can rotate between, this shouldn’t be too much of an ask.

    Just make sure you’re filling out the Persona Compendium for the Collection of Knowledge trophy_gold.png trophy, to make it easier to find the right Personas to craft weapons you actually want to use.

    You can use this guide for that:

  • Sleep Craftsman

     

    Inflicted Sleep using fusion weapons 20 times.

    While you’re fusing weapons to unlock the Novice Craftsman trophy_bronze.png trophy, you’re going to want to fuse a “Sleep” weapon, so that you can unlock this trophy.

    One such weapon, available pretty much from the off once you’ve unlocked weapon fusing after mission 26, is Haru’s “Louvre” weapon - which has a 30% chance to inflict Sleep on an enemy. You can fuse the Louvre weapon by fusing together the White Rider and Andras Personas.

    So, once you’ve done that, you’ll then want to equip it, and use it out and about on any missions you head out on.
    With a 30% chance hit rate, you pretty much have to shoot the Louvre at enemies 60 times (roughly) to inflict enough Sleep to unlock this trophy (these numbers change, however, if you’re shooting at a group of enemies).

    Do that, sleep 20 enemies with the Louvre, and you’ll unlock the ‘Sleep Craftsman’ trophy.

  • Come, Arsène!

     

    Inflicted Despair on enemies with Joker 20 times.

    Unlike in other Persona games, Joker doesn't have the power of the Wild Card in Persona 5 Tactica - a power that usually allows him to switch Personas on the fly.

    That means in P5T, Joker's main Persona throughout the campaign is Arsene, with Arsene's main abilities being Eiha, Eiga, Eigaon, Maeiha, Maeiga and Maeigaon, all of which inflict Despair on the enemies you use them on. Despair, incidentally, not only removes an enemy’s cover, but it also “steals” their Movement - meaning they can’t move as far on their next turn, and you can move further on your next turn.

    So, to unlock the ‘Come, Arsene!’ trophy, just simply use Arsene's aforementioned Despair abilities on 20 enemies and this trophy is yours. That's using it 20 times, not hitting 20 enemies.

  • Take That Treasure, Kidd!

     

    Inflicted Shock on enemies with Ryuji 20 times.

    Before you can unlock this trophy in Persona 5 Tactica, you’ll first have to rescue Ryuji Sakomoto, which you do in mission 11, while in the first Kingdom. Once you’ve rescued Ryuji (AKA Skull) you’ll be able to take him out on missions with you. 

    Ryuji’s Persona is Captain Kidd, and his primary powers are all electricity based: Zio, Zionga, Ziodyne, Mazio, Mazionga and Maziodyne. These abilities inflict Shock, which prevents the target from moving on their next turn - they’re great abilities for controlling the battlefield.

    Use any of the aforementioned electricity Persona abilities with Ryuji, and inflict Shock on 20 different turns, and the ‘Take That Treasure, Kidd!’ trophy is all yours.

  • Show Them Your Might, Zorro!

     

    Swept away enemies with Morgana 20 times.

    Unlike most of the other Phantom Thieves in Persona 5 Tactica, Morgana (AKA Mona) is one of the few characters you won’t have to rescue, meaning you can get working on this trophy right from the start.

    Morgana’s Persona is Zorro, whose primary abilities are all wind based: Garu, Garula, Garudyne, Magaru, Magarula and Magarudyne. These abilities don’t inflict a status ailment like Ryuji’s do, instead they perform a Sweep action, which blows the enemies away from Morgana - even flying over obstacles - as well as doing damage.

    Use Morgana’s wind abilities on enemies 20 times and Sweep them away, and you’ll unlock the ‘Show Them Your Might, Zorro!’ trophy.

  • Dance, Carmen!

     

    Inflicted Burn on enemies with Ann 20 times.

    In the 8th mission on Persona 5 Tactica, while still in the first Kingdom, you’ll have to venture out and save Ann Takamaki (AKA Panther) from the clutches of the evil Lady Marie. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be able to start taking Ann out on missions from then on.

    Ann’s Persona is Carmen, who is a fire-based Persona, and she boasts the following fire abilities: Agi, Agilao, Agidyne, Maragi, Maragila and Maragidyne. These abilities have the best of both worlds when it comes to their effects. Not only do they knock the enemy away from Ann and do damage (like Morgana’s wind attacks do for him), but they’ll also inflict Burn, which does damage to the inflicted enemy for the next turn too.

    Inflict the Burn status ailment on enemies 20 times using Ann’s fire abilities and the ‘Dance, Carmen!’ trophy is all yours.

  • Wipe Them Out, Goemon!

     

    Inflicted Freeze on enemies with Yusuke 20 times.

    One of the last Phantom Thieves - along with Makoto - that Joker and co. will have to rescue in the first Kingdom in P5T is Yusuke Kitigawa AKA Fox. You’ll head out to save Yusuke and Makoto in the 14th mission, after which you’ll be able to select him on missions.

    Yusuke’s Persona is Goemon, who is an ice-type Persona, whose main abilities are: Bufu, Bufala, Bufudyne, Mabufu, Mabufala and Mabufudyne. These ice-based abilities inflict Freeze on enemies, which makes the enemy miss their next turn, meaning that Yusuke can be incredibly powerful at controlling how the field pans out, and can slow the tide in battle - provided that no-one attacks the frozen target, as that will unfreeze them.

    To unlock the ‘Wipe Them Out, Goemon!’ trophy, simply use one of the ice spells and inflict Freeze on enemies 20 times.

  • Ride, Johanna!

     

    Pulled enemies into Vortex with Makoto 20 times.

    Like Yusuke, one of the last Phantom Thieves that you’ll rescue in the first Kingdom in Persona 5 Tactica is Makoto Niijima AKA Queen. Once you’ve completed the 14th mission, you’ll be able to start taking out Makoto on missions.

    Makoto’s Persona is none other than Johanna, the bike-riding nuclear-based badass, whose nuclear attacks include: Frei, Freila, Freidyne, Mafrei, Mafreila and Mafreidyne. Makoto and Johanna’s nuclear abilities don’t just do damage, but they also pull enemies within range of her attack’s Vortex into range too, while also dealing damage. The Vortex ability is great at setting up other characters, by piling enemies on top of one another, allowing others to follow-up with an AOE attack.

    Simply perform 20 nuclear abilities and utilise Makoto’s Vortex to pull in enemies 20 times, and the ‘Ride, Johanna!’ trophy is all yours.

  • Bewitch Them, Milady!

     

    Hypnotized enemies with Haru 20 times.

    In the 11th mission of Persona 5 Tactica, you’ll embark on a mission to not just rescue Ryuji, but you’ll also rescue Haru Okumura too. After which point, once you’ve rescued her, you’ll be able to take her out on missions as part of your active squad.

    Haru’s Persona is none other than Milady, who uses psychokinesis (Psy) abilities to confuse and damage her foes. Her main abilities are: Psi, Psio, Psiodyne, Mapsi, Mapsio and Mapsiodyne. These psychokinesis abilities don’t just do damage, either, in P5T they drag an enemy towards Haru, meaning that Milady’s Psy abilities are great at dragging enemies out from behind cover - and bringing them into the range of other characters.

    Simply use Haru and Milady’s psychokinesis abilities on enemies 20 times, and the ‘Bewitch Them, Milady!’ trophy will unlock.

  • No Mercy!

     

    Inflicted Forget with Erina 20 times.

    Erina is the latest character in the Persona 5 world to take up a new temporary alliance with the Phantom Thieves. While the leader of the Rebel Corps doesn't have a Persona to wield, she is still a fairly powerful character.

    Erina’s skills are all “Partisan” abilities, which act a lot like the Makajama (and Makajamaon) abilities, in that they inflict Forget - albeit this one is a guaranteed hit, while Makajame and the like only have “odds” on whether they inflict Forget. The truth is, because her Partisan spells do damage too, they’re more like Headbutt and Memory Blow, which appeared in Persona 5 Royal. The Forget status ailment in Persona 5 Tactica prevents the target from attacking for one turn.

    The Partisan Spells come in various different flavours: Partisan, Great Partisan, Ultimate Partisan, Shining Partisan, Great Shining Partisan and Ultimate Shining Partisan. Use either of those spells (or a mix of them) 20 times and the ‘No Mercy! trophy will pop.

  • A Tale of Revolution

     

    Completed the game.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

    Once you’ve defeated the final boss of the game’s fourth Kingdom, and watched a few cutscenes and wrap-up scenes, the credits will roll on Persona 5 Tactica, and the ‘A Tale of Revolution’ trophy will unlock. Congrats! 

    You’ve finished the game once, now’s the time to start that partial New Game Plus run through to 100% Persona 5 Tactica’s Persona Compendium for Collection of Knowledge trophy_gold.png trophy and get that platinum.

  • The Battle Begins

     

    Reunited the Phantom Thieves.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

    Most of your time in the first Kingdom in Persona 5 Tactica, you’ll actually spend rescuing the Phantom Thieves from the evil clutches of Lady Marie. You’ll rescue Ann and Futaba in mission 8, then you’ll rescue Ryuji and Haru in mission 11, before saving Yusuke and Makoto in mission 14. Once you’ve rescued all 6 of them, ‘The Battle Begins’ trophy will unlock.

  • Lavenza's Aid

     

    Gained the ability to fuse Personas.

    Story-related. Cannot miss.

    After you’ve rescued Ann and Futaba in chapter 8, you’ll return back to Leblanc’s (AKA your hideout) after the mission, at which point you’ll get a phone call from Lavenza, who will invite you to the Velvet Room.

    When you go to the Velvet Room, you’ll first learn how to fuse Personas, and thus unlock the ‘Lavenza’s Aid’ trophy.

  • Savior of the Land

     

    Defeated the first Kingdom's boss.

    Story-related. Cannot miss.

    Once you’ve reunited the Phantom Thieves for The Battle Begins trophy_silver.png, the team and Erina will start to formulate a plan to take down the first Kingdom’s boss, Lady Marie.

    At the end of the 21st mission, in the 22nd mission, you’ll finally come face-to-face with Lady Marie and go toe-to-toe with her. 

    From a boss perspective, it’s a fairly straightforward fight: just kick her bouquets back at her, do damage, stay out of her way, and when she gets in her tank, do damage until Toshiro gets up into the rafters. When he does, you’ll need to lure Marie into the middle of the map, and trap her there by kicking a bouquet into the objective square to stun Marie in place. Do that and you’ll defeat Marie, wrap up the act and move onto the next Kingdom - oh, and unlock the ‘Savior of the Land’ trophy.

  • A Bright Future Ahead

     

    Defeated the second Kingdom's boss.

    Compared to the first Kingdom, the second Kingdom is a hell of a lot shorter. While the first Kingdom has a lot of tutorials and rescue missions, the second Kingdom is straight up non-stop action and story.

    Boasting just 11 missions compared to the first Kingdom’s 22, it’ll be no time before you finally track down the boss of the Kingdom, Lord Yoshiki, after the 32nd mission. Yoshiki is pretty straightforward like Lady Marie, but will require you to navigate a series of puzzle chambers to get to one square at the back of the room, where you can shoot him in the face. 

    Do this multiple times and you’ll unlock the ‘A Bright Future Ahead’ trophy and move onto the third Kingdom.

  • Those That Conquer Their Past

     

    Defeated the third Kingdom's boss.

    Now, if you thought Kingdom 2 was short, Kingdom 3 is even shorter! Well, when it comes to actual missions it is, but there is a ton of story and dialogue in this chapter to soak up.

    The third Kingdom in Persona 5 Tactica only boasts 9 missions, but like we said, does boast a lot of cutscenes and revelations. And if you thought the second Kingdom had a long multi-staged boss fight, this one puts that to shame - taking up the game’s 41st and 42nd main mission.

    Get through all of the boss fights, and finally defeat the giant Eri Natsuhara manifestation on the roof, which occurs during mission 42, and you’ll escape to the fourth and final Kingdom.

  • A Will for Change

     

    Defeated the fourth Kingdom's boss.

    While the fourth Kingdom might only be 6 main gameplay missions long, after every 2 missions in the fourth Kingdom you’ll have to fight a tougher version of the previous Kingdom’s bosses. The strategies remain the same in this Kingdom, however, they will now have more health and deal more damage.

    Get through all 6 missions and 3 bosses, and you’ll reach the point of no return - after the 50th and 51st mission.
    In the 52nd mission you’ll need to defeat Salmael to complete the game. The key to the Salmael fight is dealing damage while also paying attention to the environmental obstacles you’ll have to overcome.

    Those obstacles come in 3 flavours:
    • Phase 1 - 3,500 HP - While there are a few moves that Salmael has in this stage, they’re nothing too destructive. The one you need to watch out for, though, is the “Cogs of Fate” attack, which prepares to shift the stage a certain amount of platforms on Salmael’s next turn. For instance, the first one he threw at us first was “Cogs of Fate: Forward 1,” which will move the platforms clockwise. There are only 5 platforms on screen at once, and when the cogs move, and a platform disappears, so does whatever is standing on it. So, when this appears, make sure your squad are positioned on platforms that will be safe on Salmael’s next turn, which is when he casts “Eternity Wheel.” Just remember throughout the fight that “Forward” means clockwise, and “Reverse” means anti-clockwise, and then as long as you stay off the platforms that will be disintegrated in the next turn, you’ll be okay.
    • Phase 2 - 6,600 HP - Very similar to the first phase, but now Salmael has a new move called “Holy Numbers of Salvation,” where he’ll mark a platform and put a number on it. To cancel out this move, you need to move the number of characters that correspond with the number on the move, onto that platform - so if it says 1, move 1 character over; if it says 3, move 3 over. Just be very conscious of the Cogs of Fate move here too.
    • Mid Phase 2 - And finally, during this phase when he hits around half health, he’ll cast the “Spire of Judgment,” which is a homing missile attack, which will be guided by a large spire in the middle of the map. It’s now that you’ll have to use the grunts that spawn to perform an All-Out Attack on the spire. That will mean splitting up the party. I’d send 2 to the far left, and 2 to the far right, with one of the main 3 party members staying a little bit closer to the centre platform, so that you cover the spire with the All-Out Attack triangle. You’ll have 3 full turns to destroy the spire before Salmael casts Divine Punishment. If you successfully destroy the spire, you’ll take no damage, and Salmael will take 500 damage instead. At this point continue to attack Salmael until the fight comes to an end. After the “Spire of Judgment” phase, he’ll return to normal attacks, Cogs of Fate, and Holy Numbers of Salvation as he was before. We managed to finish him off before he even got the chance to do a second Spire of Judgement, if he even does that.
    Once you’ve smashed through all of Salmael’s 11,100 HP, the fight will be over and not only will the ‘A Will For Change’ trophy unlock, but you’ll also have completed Persona 5 Tactica too. Time to sit back and enjoy the end of the show!
