Introduction:

Welcome to Persona 4: Dancing All Night trophy guide. This is a rhythm game in the Persona series, this particular game is based on Persona 4 and is considered to be a sequel to it. This game isn't that tough to platinum in my opinion. Other than having to clear some songs on hard difficulty, you can do almost everything else on easy mode. Since there's a ton of cutscenes to watch, the story mode takes about 12 hours to complete if you don't fast forward through any of them. This adds up to the estimated time to platinum, and is also why the platinum can take from 10 to 25 hours.

The songs have an outer ring where you have to hit three buttons on each side. The left side has , , and buttons, while the right side has , , and buttons. You have to press the button when a note approaches it. Notes in this game are identified by their shape and color. Yellow star notes require you to hit a button once they reach the outer ring. Purple "U" notes require you to hit two different buttons on separate sides on the outer ring. Green "H" notes require you to hold down the button until the other end of the note. As for blue/fever rings, you need to "scratch" the screen or tilt either analog sticks in any direction.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Beat the Story Mode.

First thing you can do is to finish the story mode. Clear all 7 chapters, then after the credits finish rolling, go back to story mode and view two more cutscenes in chapter 8. While you are doing this mode, you will most likely trigger at least one Bond Fever.

You should have enough P$ from the story mode to unlock Margaret, so go to the shop and choose the Items (first choice) tab. Buy the last item on the list, the Spiral Brooch, for P$10,000. Leave the shop to get a cutscene, after that Margaret will become playable.

After this step, you should have the following trophies:

Working Together
The Festival Begins
Closing Night
A Night to Remember
Tidy Up Your Toys
Standing Room Only
Bearwell!
The Empress Dethroned
Bond Dancers, Go!
Time to Party Harder

Step 2: Some Free Dance fun.

In this step, you should focus on the Free Dance trophies, there are quite a few trophies you can get in this mode. But before you start on any of them, you should have at least P$50,000 from beating the story mode. Go into the shop and buy one costume and one accessory for Yu. From the Items tab, buy the only book available for sale, which costs P$2,680. You should also buy at least one costume for all characters, pick the cheapest costume for every character to afford getting one new costume for each.

Enter Free Dance mode and choose "specialist" on easy difficulty. Wear both the costume and the accessory you bought earlier for Yu. Once the song starts, hit one or two notes then ignore the rest to fail and end the song early. Return to the main menu and choose Collection, then Score and hit on the "specialist" song (easy). Hit again on the results screen to watch your replay of the failed song.

After failing the "specialist" song, do it again on the same difficulty. Make sure to set the note speed to [ 1 ], you can do this by choosing Custom, then the second choice. On the same Free Dance Settings menu, you can see the book you bought from the shop displayed on the top-right corner, turn it on with before you start the song. Clear the song normally this time.

Do a different song on easy difficulty again with the note speed set to [ 7 ], without using books. After you finish the song, go to the shop's item tab and buy the five new books you just unlocked.

Clear another song on easy difficulty while using the first and third listed books on the Play Custom settings window. The third book makes the notes super slow, so it shouldn't be too tough to clear. This will unlock another book, buy the new book from the items shop to unlock the last book, you should buy that too.

If you have "Your Affection (Daisuke Asakura Remix)" song unlocked, which you should if you cleared the first two songs on the Free Dance list, clear it on normal with Auto partner (Rise).

On to the toughest challenge for this , you need to get the rank "King Crazy" on any song/difficulty. To do this, you need to hit Perfect on most notes (varies between songs, but I think it's around 90%) in a song and not miss a single note. Good notes will affect your score and prevent you from getting this rank, so try not to get them. I find this easiest on "Your Affection" (easy) with note speed set to [ 7 ]. You might have to practice quite a bit for this trophy, test some note speeds until you find the right speed for you.

Now pick "specialist" or "Your Affection" on hard mode and try to get Perfect on more than half of the total notes. You can use power up items to make this easier. After this, clear two more songs on hard difficulty to unlock two items (you can use power up items).

If you follow this step to the letter, you should have the following trophies:

Appearance Matters
That Familiar Rush
Empty Seats
Hit the Dance Floor
Love Connections
Born Entertainer
What's a "Miss"?
Perfectionist
New Personal Best
Fashion Police
The Final Touch
Star Dancer
Dream Team

Step 3: Finish Free Dance, pair up partners.

Clear all the Free Dance songs, there are 27 total songs. You only need to clear each song once on any difficulty. Try to always have a partner with you and to hit all fever rings to get 30 Bond Fevers. As you're doing this, change the main dancer costume on every new song you unlock, it has to be a non-default costume. Do this once for each character. If a character doesn't have any costumes besides the default one, buy the cheapest costume from the shop.

While you are going through the Free Dance songs, you should finish the following songs in the listed conditions to get all the pairing trophies:

  • "Pursuing My True Self (Shinichi Osawa Remix)" on any difficulty with Yosuke as the partner.
  • "Your Affection (Daisuke Asakura Remix)" on any difficulty with Nanako as the partner.
  • "Now I Know (Yuu Miyake Remix)" on hard difficulty with Auto partner.
  • "Signs Of Love" on normal difficulty with Auto partner.
  • "Heartbeat, Heartbreak" on easy difficulty with Auto partner.
  • "Your Affection" on easy difficulty with Auto partner.
  • "Time To Make History" on easy difficulty with Auto partner.
  • "Shadow World (ATLUS Kozuka Remix)" on any difficulty.
  • "Like a dream come true" on hard difficulty with Auto partner.
  • "Pursuing My True Self (ATLUS Kozuka Remix)" on easy difficulty with Auto partner.
  • "Maze Of Life" on easy difficulty with Auto partner.
  • "Maze Of Life" on any difficulty with Rise as the partner.
  • "Snowflakes (Narasaki Remix)" on any difficulty with Chie as the partner.
  • "Heaven (Norihiko Hibino Remix)" on any difficulty with Kanji as the partner.
  • "Shadow World" on any difficulty with Nanako as the partner.
  • "Time To Make History (Akira Yamaoka Remix)" on normal difficulty with Auto partner.
  • "Signs Of Love (TK Remix)" on hard difficulty with Auto partner.
  • "Junes Theme (Vocal Version)" on any difficulty.
  • "Dance!" on normal difficulty with Auto partner.
  • "Best Friends" on any difficulty with Naoto as the partner.
  • "Heartbeat, Heartbreak (Towa Tei Remix)" on any difficulty.
  • "Backside Of The TV (Lotus Juice Remix)" on normal difficulty with Auto partner.
  • "Best Friends (Banvox Remix)" on any difficulty with Yukiko as the partner.

You can use any power up items to help with the hard mode songs from above. Once you clear the last Free Dance song, go to story mode and view all four cutscenes in the "Special" chapter.

You should have all items unlocked by now, so head over to the item shop and buy all items available for sale. Next, go to Collection from the main menu and choose Database for a trophy.

After going through the above list, you should have:

To Greater Heights
Hooked on Shopping
I Am Thou, Thou Art I
The Party Never Ends
Costume Coordinator
Inseparable
Nanako Forever!
Senpai, You're So Cool!
Red and Green
The Junes Special
Beauty and the Beast
Historian

Step
4: Grinding/Cleanup.

All that is left to do is grind for P$ to buy all costumes and accessories for all characters. Along the way, you will get a trophy for spending P$500,000 on the shop.

You need to spend P$1,241,640 to buy everything the shop has to offer. This amount may seem impossible to accumulate, but from the above steps (1 to 3) you should have at least half or close to half of this amount.

A good way to farm P$ is to pick an easy song on a high difficulty and turn on some books to increase the P$ gain. "Your Affection" on normal with +310% P$ gives you around P$24,000+ if you clear it with Brilliant rank. Hard mode of the same song and settings gives you P$54,200 if you get Brilliant rank.

Another method is to pick a song/difficulty you're comfortable with, then turn on the last book that hides all the notes of the song but increases P$ gain by 800%, and finish the song while watching a video of it to see the notes.

If you have any other trophies you missed, try to do them now. You should get the after this step.

You should have the following trophies after buying everything from the shop:

Best Dressed
Closet Full of Dreams
Lapidary
Regular Customer
Dancing All Night

This trophy pops up as soon as you spend a total amount of P$500,000 on shopping.

  • Watched replay data from Score

This is a simple trophy, all you have to do is watch a replay of a song you already finished. You have to clear or fail a single song first to be able to view the replay of it. From the Main Menu, pick Collection and then Score, you will see a list of songs and your scores next to them. Change the tab to the difficulty you did the song on, but don't choose the Online tab as it will only display the leaderboards. Now highlight your score and press . You will be in the results screen of that song, press again and choose Yes to view your replay. You can end the replay video after getting the trophy.

The trophy unlocks as soon as the replay video starts playing.

  • Completed the Database

The Database contains info on all the characters and songs from this game. In order to fill in the entries, you need to beat the story mode to unlock all the characters, then unlock Margaret and clear all 27 Free Dance songs. You need to open the Database window from the Collection menu for this trophy to pop. Otherwise, you won't obtain the trophy even if you met the requirements.

  • A performance ended prematurely

For this trophy, you have to end a song in progress by failing it. A song will end once the High Spirits Gauge, positioned at the top center of the screen, gets low enough. You can tell if the gauge is at its lowest when the icons are red and display what looks like an angry crowd. To get the trophy, simply pick any song from Free Dance and don't press any buttons when prompted to fail the song.

The trophy will unlock on the result screen after you fail your first song.

  • Cleared 1 track in Free Dance

See The Party Never Ends .

  • Cleared all tracks in Free Dance

You need to pick Free Dance from the Main Menu and clear all songs to get this trophy. There are 27 songs in total, you unlock them by clearing the available songs. Each song has to be cleared once, on any difficulty. For example, if a song is cleared in easy, you don't have to clear it on normal or hard.

Margaret's song counts for this trophy, so you have to unlock her to get her song. See Time to Party Harder for more info.

The trophy will unlock on the result screen of the last song you cleared in Free Dance.

  • Performed a full combo on a track

You can get this trophy along with Born Entertainer . But if you want to attempt it separately, I recommend using the Tape power up item to help you get a full combo. It's the 6th power up item on Free Dance Settings menu or the 5th item from the items shop (sells for P$1,500).

For a full combo, you need to do a song on any difficulty while only getting Perfect or Great notes. However, with the Tape power up item I mentioned above, Good notes won't break the combo so it becomes easier to do a full combo. If you don't have access to the Tape item, note that Good notes during Fever time will not break the combo. Whether or not you end up using the Tape, you still have to be careful not to miss a single note, as that will break the combo.

You obtain this trophy on the result screen after you get the P$ full combo bonus, which is P$5,000.

  • Obtained top rank (King Crazy) on a track

This might possibly be the toughest trophy to get for this game, since not only you have to hit all notes (not a single miss), you also need to hit most of them on Perfect (about 90%). This also means you're not allowed to get Good notes, that will hurt your score. Fortunately, you can attempt to get this trophy on any difficulty. I recommend doing this on "Your Affection" (easy) as Yosuke, with note speed set to [ 7 ]. Again, if you think that is too fast, you can lower the speed to your liking.

Please note that you have to hit every Blue/Fever Rings in the song to get King Crazy. Otherwise, you will get Brilliant! only.

I noticed that the story mode songs have a much lenient King Crazy rank requirements, so if the songs in Free Dance are giving you trouble, try your luck in a few songs from story mode. I found the following songs are easy to get King Crazy:

    • "Your Affection" at chapter 2-2.
    • "Shadow World" at chapter 4-5.
    • "Best Friends (Banvox Remix)" at chapter 5-3.
    • "Pursuing My True Self (Shinichi Osawa Remix)" at chapter 5-6.

Since you need to hit all notes, you will also get the Love Connections and What's a "Miss"? trophies.

    See the following videos:

You will obtain this trophy on the result screen of the song you got "King Crazy" rank on.

  • Cleared a track with no MISSes

    See Born Entertainer .

The trophy unlocks at the result screen of the song where you didn't miss a single note.

  • 50%+ Perfect clear on HARD track or higher

You need to get Perfect on more than half of the total notes for one song on hard difficulty to get this trophy. This trophy is easier than it sounds, you just need to practice for it a bit. I also found that doing it on the "specialist" or "Your Affection" songs with a note speed of [ 7 ] to be the easiest.

If the note speed is set to [ 1 ], the notes become slow enough to see, but they also become packed together (not much space between them). This is why I recommend the [ 7 ] speed, but try to mess around with the note speed until you get the speed that works for you. Also, you can use the power up items to help you clear the song and still obtain the trophy, but you get reduced score/P$ for using them.

Hard mode "specialist" song has a total of 396 notes, so you need to get Perfect on 198 or more notes to obtain this trophy. If you get more than 198 Perfect notes and get a "Not cleared" rank, the trophy won't pop. You will get a "Not cleared" rank if the High Spirits Gauge becomes white color, this happens if you miss too much notes. You can still finish the song even with a white High Spirits Gauge, but the game won't count it as a clear. To fix this, try not to miss much to have the High Spirits Gauge glowing multiple colors (with a dancing crowd).

I found "Your Affection" to be a bit easier than "specialist", so you can try that if "specialist" is giving you trouble. "Your Affection" has 424 total notes, so you would need 212 Perfect notes for the trophy.

The trophy unlocks on the result screen of the song you did on hard difficulty where you got Perfect on more than half of the total notes.

  • Beat your own high score

The fastest way to do this trophy is to pick any song in Free Dance mode on any difficulty, get one Perfect or Great note, then ignore the rest. You will fail the song and end up with a small score, probably around 500 or less. Now do the same song again on the same difficulty, but this time make sure to get two or more Perfect or Great (do the same as the earlier song). Once your score is higher than before, fail the song again, and you will obtain the trophy since you have a higher score than your earlier failed song. Remember that each difficulty has it's own set of scores, so you need to do this on two runs of the same difficulty.

You will obtain this trophy on the result screen of the song that had a higher score than the previous time you did it.

  • Changed costume and began dancing

Buy a new costume for any character then change into the costume and start a song. You can do this early in the game, buy a cheap costume for either Yu or Yosuke and have them wear it on "specialist" or "Your Affection" respectively. Then start the song for the trophy.

This trophy pops up as soon as you start a song wearing a non-default costume.

  • Equipped accessory and began dancing

Buy a single accessory for any character then have them wear it and start a song. You can do this early in the game, buy a cheap accessory for either Yu or Yosuke and have them wear it on "specialist" or "Your Affection" respectively. Then start the song for the trophy.

This trophy pops up as soon as you start a song wearing an accessory.

  • Cleared a track with each character in changed costumes

Buy a single costume for every character, have them wear their new costume while you do a song with each of them. This has to be done on the main dancers to count, not the partners. You also have to clear one song with each character wearing their non-default costume. Margaret is the only exception here, since you can't buy new costumes for her.

This trophy pops up once you danced with all characters while having them wear a non-default costume (Margaret doesn't count).

  • Danced using 2 or more items to raise difficulty

The items that increase the difficulty are eight books that you can buy from the items shop, but only one of them will be available for purchase from the beginning. Each of these books increase score and P$ gain by a certain percentage. You can unlock a second book by buying the single available book and using it on a song to unlock two more books. To use a book in a song, pick the song you want, then choose Custom and pick the second choice. The list on the right are the books that increase difficulty, press on the book you want to equip it then start the song. Once you have two books, use them together in a song to get this trophy.

This trophy unlocks at the result screen of the song where you used two difficulty increasing items.

  • Triggered a Bond Fever at least once

    See Inseparable .

  • Triggered 30 types of Bond Fevers

Initiate Bond Fever 30 times in any mode and song to get this trophy. To get into Bond Fever, you first need to have a dance partner, so the songs that don't let you dance with a partner won't work. Then you need to fill the three empty Fever Stars displayed at the top-right corner of the screen, between the High Spirits Gauge and your current score. In order to get those stars, you need to tilt (scratch) either the or when the Fever rings show up. After you have three Fever stars, the Fever word will display on the song timeline at the bottom of the screen.

If you have a partner and a high enough High Spirits Gauge, you will automatically get into Bond Fever state when the song reaches the word "Fever" on the timeline. Otherwise, you will get into a solo Fever. Do this 30 times for the trophy, most songs can have two Fevers so it shouldn't take long to get.

This trophy, and Working Together , will pop up at the result screen of the song where you triggered the required amount of Bond Fevers.

  • Triggered all dances/Bond Fevers with Nanako

The trophy unlocks on the result screen of the last song you clear from the above list.

  • Paired Rise and Kanami in Free Dance

You have to do one song with Rise and Kanami on the same song, it doesn't matter who is the main dancer and who is the partner. It has to be on those difficulties with "Auto" set as a partner.
