Introduction

Path of Exile is an action RPG under development by Grinding Gear Games. There are six starting character classes to choose from that will determine the starting point on the passive skill tree right away and determine which ascendancy classes are available later. Skills are unlocked through the socketing of skill gems into slots in equipment and can be strengthened by using support gems in sockets that are linked to the skill gems. This allows any class to use any skill if they have the required stats to use them.

This game has many complex mechanics to it and creating a walkthrough explaining every possible way of playing the game is beyond the scope of this guide. The best thing to do is to just play through, picking up new currency and reading their description. In general, you will want to save currency until you finish the main story and begin working on a final set of equipment. There are also "league" mechanics that are similar to Seasons from Diablo 3, if you're familiar. They are new game mechanics that change every couple months with the release of a new major patch. The PS4 version released with version 3.6.0 which is Synthesis League but there are also mechanics from older leagues that are still in the game. None of these league mechanics are linked directly to trophies, though these leagues often introduce new ways of crafting powerful gear or farming valuable currency and items.

If this is your first time playing Path of Exile, I recommend reading the Tips and Tricks section before getting started with this trophy guide. Some of these tips may not make sense until you've reached a certain part in the game so remember to reread it a couple times as you're playing. Some of these tips are also aimed specifically at the PS4 version so they may be useful even if you have been playing the PC version for years.

This is a game that is friendly at first to new players but can later become unforgiving. Getting the Platinum will likely take a longer time (100-200 more hours) if you don't use real money to enable selling on the market board. One other thing to note is that, on PC, the prices of items on temporary leagues (PS4 launched on 3.6, Synthesis League) are usually much higher than the prices on the non-temporary league (Standard League). All characters and their items/stashes convert to standard league at the end of the temporary league. This is pure speculation but if the market board on PS4 follows the trend on PC, then prices for all items could potentially become much lower over time and thus some trophies may become more accessible over time.

Starting your character:

This game can be unforgiving to new players. The passive skill tree is very large and filled with skill nodes that will likely tempt you but are not in your best interest to invest points into. The optimal way to play is to pick a skill you want to use, then pick your starting class based on the best passive skill tree starting location. There is a lot of theory crafting involved in Path of Exile and if you don't want to spend hours just planning out a character then it would probably be in your best interest to try to find a shared build on the PoE forums. I know this can be difficult because as a new player you don't know what you will find the most fun in the game, whether it is being a tanky melee character or a ranged character. Creating a character that is both fun for you and is capable of clearing the endgame required for all the trophies will be your goal. There are basically two options for a new player:

1. Create whatever class you want and play with new skills as you get them, with your passive skill tree growing randomly based on whatever skill you're using now. You'll get several passive skill respec points from side quests but this likely won't be enough to make a good character build for endgame. This means you’ll eventually reach a point where you’ll need to either farm enough money (in low level zones with terrible money yields) to completely respec or just reroll a new character.

2. Find a shared build and make your character based off that. The positive of this is that you are playing a build that someone else has already played and proven to be endgame viable. The negative is that it can be boring to some that enjoy really creating their character on their own. Another downside is that you might think the build looks fun but by the time you've completed the build and using it, the build might not suit your preferred style of playing.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Play through the game and finish the 10 acts, unlocking the endgame

Play through the game normally, keeping an eye on your world map to complete all attached zones as well. Zones are randomized but zone exits will always be on specific sides (NW, NE, SE, SW) which will also match up with the direction they are shown on the world map. This will save you time if you're in a zone that you don't have any quests in and just need to get to the next zone, just head to the appropriate direction based off the direction towards the next zone on the world map.

Do not worry about a strict order for trophies, as the most difficult ones are unlocked in endgame and the easy ones should unlock on the way. One trophy to keep in mind as you're playing is Challenger . The Labyrinth unlocks your ascendancy class and this can drastically increase your defense/offense depending on your build so it's a good idea to finish the Labyrinths as they are unlocked.

One trophy that requires some special attention is No Stone Unturned , which will require a checklist to keep track of lore you have read. Begin working on collecting lore as you are travelling through all the zones and completing the main story. Lore is indicated on the zone map by an open book and the icon will appear long before it is visible to the player. Keep the list of lore open and check it before you enter a zone to see if you need to be on the lookout for lore. Be sure to enter every Vaal side area for lore when you see one because the Vaal lore is the most difficult to collect. See No Stone Unturned for more detailed information.

Step 2: Clean up before beginning Endgame

Most of the trophies in step 1 should come along pretty easily while finishing through to the end of the 10 acts. Now is a good time to focus on a couple trophies that may have been touched on in Step 1.

No Stone Unturned
Unique Influence
Behold My Army

Step 3: Start running maps, a lot

Nearly all the remaining trophies are directly tied to progression in the Atlas of Worlds, which is the large spider web of connected maps which you'll be opening with your map device. Keep grinding new maps to complete your atlas while upgrading gear when possible. Now is the time to max out elemental resistances if you haven't already and start working on getting a six-link armor/weapon.

Step 4: Endgame Clean up

If there are any more trophies not finished in the first 3 parts, finish whatever is left. After finishing the massive Atlas grind, the only trophies not directly on the Atlas still remaining are the Atziri fights and the breachlords so finish those now. If you didn't encounter Abaxoth in a beyond map on the way to completing Atlas of Worlds, then go grind double Beyond maps in the map device.

48 trophies ( 11  34  12  )

  • Obtained every trophy.

    Self-explanatory

  • Freed the Scion.

The Scion is located in Act 3, just before the final boss of the Act 3 in the Upper Scepter of God. This will be hard to miss the first time through the zone but can be obtained at any time if it is passed by the first time.

  • Obtain every god power.

God powers refer to the Pantheon system, which requires you to kill 12 bosses to unlock their powers. The 4 major gods will be unlocked along the main story but the 8 minor gods will require finding their side zones in specific main zones.

    • Tukohama – Act 6 in The Karui Fortress
    • Abberath – Act 6 in Prisoner’s Gate
    • Ryslatha – Act 6 in The Wetlands
    • Gruthkul – Act 7 in The Dread Thicket
    • Ralakesh – Act 7 in The Ashen Fields
    • Yugul – Act 8 in The High Gardens
    • Shakari – Act 9 in The Oasis
    • Garukhan – Act 9 in The Quarry
  • Reach level 80.

    See Diminishing Returns

  • Reach level 90.

Leveling in Path of Exile is fairly self-explanatory but I will note a few key things that will be important for leveling. There is an exp loss on death after Act 5 of 5% of the total required to next level. After Act 10, this doubles to 10% so dying can quickly drain progress to the next level. Also, exp gained is based off monster level compared to your level so it's best to stay within a close range of the zone you’re in but this becomes impossible at higher levels as monster level is eventually capped. This is what the name of the trophy is referring to, as there are diminishing returns on exp as you eventually level past the highest monster level. That said, level 90 should come long before you get other trophies such as the one for clearing all maps.

For more detailed information on experience gained and penalties, I recommend reading the wiki: LINK

  • Equip a Unique item.

Like other dungeon crawlers, Path of Exile uses a rarity system for equipment: Normal > Magic > Rare > Unique

Finding and equipping a unique, will likely occur before the main story is finished.

  • Use an orb to change the mods of a Strongbox.

Press to use an orb on a strongbox. Strongboxes spawn at random rarity but are fairly common. The easiest way to get this, is to use an Orb of Transmutation on a normal rarity strongbox but other orbs can be used as well.

  • Tag every waypoint as one character.

Obie83 found a spreadsheet which can be used for this trophy if preferred.

In the Character bar menu, you can navigate to the World tab to check your progress on this. Zones without waypoints will have black centers, zones with missed waypoints will have a blue dot in the center and zones with waypoints you have will be filled blue.

  • Complete every side-quest as one character.

Obie83 found a spreadsheet which can be used for this trophy if preferred.

Side quests are listed in the quest tracker and can be completed at any time. The best way to complete this is to just talk to NPCs whenever you see an exclamation over them. Check town after every waypoint reached and it’s likely this will be obtained naturally. Active and completed quests are listed on the world map tab/waypoint menu and can be scrolled through using the . There is a fairly large list of side quests so I will just link to the list on the Wiki: LINK

  • Discover all environmental lore as one character.

This is the trophy that will require a checklist. There are 140 environmental lore in the game that count toward this but there is no in game journal or anything that will keep track of lore that has been read. You do not need to scroll to the end of the lore entry or completely listen to any associated audio clip. Interacting with the lore and immediately closing it out with will give credit for discovering the lore.

Obie83 found a spreadsheet which can be used for this trophy if preferred.

There's already a page on the PoE wiki that has all the lore listed: LINK and when the lore name is listed multiple times it means it's part of a series of lore which must all be collected. One note about #29 on that list is that the "Damp Diary" is actually in the boss area and not the main part of The Cavern of Anger. If there are multiple lore listed in a zone then they will have all those lore available somewhere in the zone, with one exception.

The Library has three different sets of lore but only one of each will be available in a single instance so you'll have to make new instances to get them all. The three sets are: The Ancients with 7 books, The Purity Chronicles with 6 books and Victario's Writings with 4 books. When getting all the lore in the library, be sure to create new zone instances by pressing instead of at the zone entrance or waypoint if you're warping in.

The wiki page has the lore listed mostly in the likely order of the zones you'll go to, with a couple possible exceptions being when there are a couple options on the next zone to go to. The other exceptions are the Lord's Labyrinth and Vaal Areas, with the Labyrinth (lab) being the zone you need to finish to "ascend" your class and Vaal Areas being optional random side areas that can appear in almost every zone.

I recommend obtaining all the Labyrinth lore in Normal lab because there are less side rooms for the "Poem" lore to be spawned in. There are 5 "Poem" lore entries, and 4 will be in rooms before the final Izaro encounter, with the fifth Poem located in the final Aspirant's Trial room. The 4 "Bronze Inscriptions" in lab are in fixed locations, with one in each Aspirant's Trial room and the first one will be very close to the beginning of the first area of lab.

There are 16 lore items in the Vaal areas that you will want to keep a checklist of, as those are the lore items that will definitely be the hardest to acquire. Vaal lore items are not numbered in game but the wiki has numbered them so find the entry on the wiki that matches the lore text found in game and check it off as required.

It's unlikely you'll have obtained all the Vaal lore by the end of the main story but after the main story you gain access to the map device and this will make collecting the rest of the Vaal lore easier. If you put a single "Sacrifice" fragment in the map device it will open portals to a Vaal side area. Do NOT use a Sacrifice of Midnight in the map device, as this sacrifice piece is worth a couple Chaos orbs and the others are not. Repeat this as many times as is necessary to obtain all the Vaal lore: LINK and: LINK

  • Create an item with six linked sockets using an Orb of Fusing.

This will only be obtained after the main story unless you're really lucky. This can also be a very expensive trophy, as the number of Orb of Fusings required to create an item with six linked sockets (6L) can vary wildly. The generally accepted average is 1,000 fusings but I've gotten a 6L in as few as 30 and as many as 2,000. Also, be sure to raise the item quality to 20% before trying to link as this is believed to increase the odds of getting the 6L. Based on the wording of the trophy, I would think the guaranteed ways of getting a 6L using the crafting bench and the Fated Connections prophecy would not spawn this trophy but I have not tested this yet.

  • Have a Skill Gem reach level 20.

This trophy should pop on the way to reaching level 90 as long as you have picked a main skill gem and have not been switching skills.

  • Equip a Rare or Unique item in every non-Flask slot.

This trophy should occur naturally, because Rares and Uniques are the only viable items in the game to make it to endgame.

  • Allocate a Keystone Passive Skill.

This trophy will pop after allocating a passive skill point in a Keystone passive, which are the very large nodes on the passive skill tree. If you are following a pre-made character build, this will almost certainly be obtained as Keystones are usually what defines a build.

  • Fully clear an end-game Map area.

Kill all monsters in a single map from the Map Device. Some maps are more linear and thus easier to accomplish this on than others but still easy to do any map. There is a monster counter that is displayed on the right side of the screen when using the full screen map ().

  • Have at least 75% resistance to Fire, Cold, and Lightning.

Having 75% elemental resistances is practically mandatory for end-game content so this should occur naturally on the way to more difficult trophies. In theory, an average Goldrim helm (30-40% elem res) and an average Aurumvorax sword (40-60% elem res) should pop this trophy for a level 17 character that hasn't finished Act 5, as resistances are lowered after finishing act 5 and again after finishing Act 10.

  • Have 60 Minions at the same time.

The easiest way to get this trophy is with the Animate Weapon skill gem and the Vaal Summon Skeletons skill gem. For overkill, link these with Faster Casting and Increased Duration. These aren't necessary but give some wiggle room so you're not losing minions while working towards the 60 required. Level up Animate Weapon and Vaal Summon Skeletons as much as desired but again this is not necessary since lvl 1 Animate Weapon can summon up to 50 and lvl 1 Vaal Summon Skeletons will summon 17 instantly. Gather up as many junk weapons that are below the maximum level useable by Animate Weapon until you have enough weapons to animate that will give you 60 minions when you use Vaal Summon Skeletons.

  • Corrupt a map to have eight mods.

Vaal orbs corrupt items to possibly randomize certain modifiers and for maps one of the results is that it will have 8 mods when 6 mods is the standard limit. This is best done on rare 20% quality tier 11+ maps but it will work on any tier map. Also, once this 8 mod map has been obtained, it should be completed with the other map trophy, Decimation.

  • Corrupt an item to have a new implicit mod.

Like with maps, vaal orbs can corrupt the mods on an item, in this case the implicit mod, which is the mod listed above all the standard mods gained through crafting orbs. This is best done on certain Unique items that have a bad/no implicit and hope for certain implicit mods, which can be gained through corruption that will increase the utility of the item.

  • Hand in a Full Set of Divination Cards to Tasuni.

This will almost certainly pop along the way to harder trophies. The Her Mask set is one of the easiest to complete and will probably be finished shortly after you begin clearing maps. A Full list of card sets and drop zones can be found here: LINK

  • Equip a Unique Jewel with a radius.

Many unique jewels will be given as quest rewards but the unique jewels needed for this will say "Radius: (Small, Medium or Large)" and all that is required is to be equipped. If you're having trouble finding one of these jewels on your own, there are plenty on the market board.

  • Corrupt an Essence monster with a Remnant of Corruption.

Essence monsters are a randomly spawning mechanic that can occur anywhere. One of these encounters can be just "Remnant of Corruption", which will drop the required item. Next time you find an essence monster, press to use the Remnant of Corruption before starting the encounter. It is best to use the Remnant of Corruption on Essence of Misery/Dread/Scorn/Envy but the trophy will pop if it's used on any essence monster.

  • Complete the Labyrinth.

The Labyrinth is the side area that must be completed to "ascend" your class to one of three ascended classes. These classes have passive skills separate from the main skill tree and are typically skills with a certain focus, such as on making stronger minions or drastically increasing defensive capabilities. There are four difficulties of the lab (Normal > Cruel > Merciless > Eternal/Uber), with the highest difficulty only being reachable after finishing Act 10 and completing a considerable number of maps to find the trials.

Each lab difficulty requires trials to be completed to gain access to them. All trials are in specific zones, except for the Eternal/Uber lab six trials, which can spawn in any map. There is also a prophecy which will help spawn trials in maps, called The Dream Trial.

    Normal Lab Trials:

    • Act 1 – The Lower Prison
    • Act 2 – The Crypt Level 1
    • Act 2 – The Chamber of Sins Level 2
    • Act 3 – The Crematorium
    • Act 3 – The Catacombs
    • Act 3 – The Imperial Gardens

    Cruel Lab Trials:

    • Act 6 – The Prison
    • Act 7 – The Crypt
    • Act 7 – The Chamber of Sins Level 2

    Merciless Lab Trials:

    • Act 8 – The Bath House
    • Act 9 – The Tunnel
    • Act 10 – The Ossuary

As the zone name suggests, this area is somewhat like a maze and is filled with floor traps. The complexity of the maze goes up in the higher difficulty labs. A good resource to use is here: LINK

  • Choose an Ascendancy class.

This will pop after completing the labyrinth, interacting with the object in the room past Izaro and picking an ascendancy class.

  • Kill Argus.

Argus is a mini-boss in Merciless and Eternal lab that will drop a treasure key to open a chest at the end of lab. Argus can hit hard and moves quickly so do not stay still while fighting him unless you are using a tanky build. Use this site to find his location for the day: PoE Lab

  • Kill Izaro and have him drop 3 treasure keys.

Izaro is the boss of the labyrinth and he always drops at least 1 treasure key when you kill him after the third encounter. To get him to drop 3 keys, you need to complete his first two encounters while meeting certain conditions based on the mechanic active during the encounters. Some mechanics have additional monsters you have to avoid killing, like Gargoyles or Lieutenants and others make you wait a certain amount of time until Izaro has been buffed, like Idols. Read more about the encounter mechanics here: LINK

Note: In Labyrinth there are "darkshrines" that will activate a buff/bonus and one bonus is to have Izaro drop an additional key on death. Haven't tested whether this will pop the trophy without requiring both of the first Izaro encounters to have been completed correctly.

  • Complete the Eternal Labyrinth.

The Eternal lab is unlocked from completing the 6 different trials found only in maps. Other than that, the Eternal lab functions the same way as Merciless lab, just harder.

  • Defeat The Elder.

This is the quest after completing the main story and will require significant progress through maps. One of the mechanics of the maps is that randomly chosen maps will spawn with the "Shaper" influence on them and they must be completed to get the memory fragments.

  • Complete a map that is affected by 10 or more mods.

This trophy would be best obtained with the corrupted 8 mod map trophy, Hostile Territory. In addition to the 8 mods on the corrupted map, you will also have to use Cartographer’s Sextants on either the corrupted map location or on maps that are close enough to be within the radius of the sextant mods. Some maps are more suited for this than others, as Sextants work on a fixed pixel radius and not all map nodes are equidistant from each other. There is a limit on the number of sextants that can be active at the same time. This limit starts at 1 and is increased by 1 when you complete the bonus objective on all White/Yellow/Red maps and also when you complete all Zana's quests, to a limit of 5.

  • Have a Voidstone socketed in your Atlas.

    See Atlas of Worlds

  • Have two Voidstones socketed in your Atlas.

    See Atlas of Worlds

  • Have three Voidstones socketed in your Atlas.

    See Atlas of Worlds

  • Complete every map on the Atlas.

This trophy will be one of the most time consuming and expensive by far. There are 144 non-unique maps and 23 unique maps. Based off the rarity of maps on the PC version, there should be a handful of unique maps which are extremely rare and thus very expensive to purchase. Non-unique maps are not especially expensive. The only exception being the highest tier maps being a little more expensive, though they usually pay for themselves with good drops. This is a trophy that will likely be best accomplished in a group, because only one person needs to have the map item and 6 players could complete it at once, assuming nobody dies and wastes one of the 6 expendable portals.

Other than the issue of the expensive unique maps, there is only 1 map that can be a major issue to overcome. Hall of Grandmasters is a unique map that is filled with character builds from old versions of Path of Exile. Some of these builds were so broken than it was impossible to kill them with any skill that "hits" an enemy. Nearly every skill in the game registers as a hit so this will make it impossible to complete Hall of Grandmasters unless your build can switch to a skill that doesn't "hit" e.g. Scorching Ray.

  • Kill Beidat, Archangel of Death.

This one will be time consuming to get but not impossible. The goal is to level Zana to the point where you can add a Beyond mod from the Map Device. This is done by completing steps in the Shaper quest given to you after completing the main story. The maps required for the Shaper quest are random so just keep clearing them and at a certain point the Beyond mod on the Map device will unlock.

With the Beyond map, open it while adding the Beyond mod from the map device. This is called double Beyond and it gives the best chance of spawning Abaxoth but the chance isn't very good to begin with. This will likely take multiple tries of double Beyond to even see Abaxoth and then hope to kill him, as he does a lot of burst damage and may very well kill you multiple times before you have a chance to kill him.

Abaxoth uses several long range skills and you will have to always be on the move if you're not a tanky build. Large expanding and exploding red rings focused on where you're standing as well as lightning bolts are the main threat from Abaxoth. If you are using ranged skills, take quick shots while always moving away from Abaxoth. If you are using melee skills but are not able to withstand tanking Abaxoth, try to get a couple hits in and retreat to recover as necessary.

  • Kill Atziri in the Apex of Sacrifice.

This is the first Atziri fight and it's opened with the 4 Sacrifice pieces, Dawn, Noon, Dusk and Midnight. The sacrifice pieces are found in Vaal side areas, corrupted map bosses, the treasure chests after Izaro in Labyrinth, or by trading divination card sets. Three of the pieces are very common and you will likely have multiples of each before you get the rare piece, Sacrifice of Midnight. Once you have all four, they must be placed in the map device to form a circle to open the portal. This Atziri can drop the fragments required to open the harder Atziri fight needed for the trophy, Sacrifice of the Vaal: LINK

  • Kill every Breachlord.

Breachlords are accessed by using breachstones in the map device. You can either collect 100 breachstone splinters by killing breach mobs found randomly in zones or just buy the breachstones on the market board. The only expensive breachstone should be the Chayula one, though I can't say for sure the others will be cheap as the PS4 asking prices are absolutely insane when compared to the PC.

These bosses don't require any special tactics. Standard avoid and attack if you're a squishy build but stand and fight if you're a tanky build.

  • Kill Atziri in the Alluring Abyss.

This is the harder version of Atziri, which is accessed using the 4 fragments that the normal Atziri can drop, Mortal Grief, Mortal Rage, Mortal Ignorance and Mortal Hope. These fragments shouldn't be too expensive to obtain on the market board if the prices are comparable to the PC version. Obtaining all these fragments from normal Atziri alone would be very time consuming. This version of Atziri is identical to the first, except that Atziri does more damage and has more life: LINK

  • Kill the Shaper.

The Shaper is one of the final bosses in the game and requires 4 fragments to open his realm, 1 from each of the tier 16 maps. The tier 16 maps in the center of the Atlas contain boss fights which themselves can be difficult, especially with map mods that do not work well with your character build. The tier 16 bosses always drop one of the required fragments to open the shaper’s realm.

The Shaper fight is a test of your avoidance skills. He has multiple attacks which do massive amounts of damage but these attacks have indicators to let you know how to avoid the upcoming attack. I recommend reading the wiki and watching one of the many Shaper guide videos which are available on Youtube and elsewhere: LINK
