Overview:

Introduction:

After being raised in a bunker all alone with his mother, Szymon sets out into the world in search of a man he saw in a picture after his mother refused to tell him who he was. He eventually comes across a Nazi bunker and meets Ewa, a friendly voice connected to Szymon only by radio. As he progresses through each floor of the bunker, the truth about his past and who he is becomes heavier and heavier. With each chapter aptly named after one of the five stages of grief, Szymon will need to accept all he has learned before he can decide where to go and what to do next and, if anyone will be with him. This game is a definition walking simulator with a very linear path to take. There won't be any fighting going on but there is plenty to explore within each new area you discover.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Play through the game up until you reach the train station and need to go through the turnstile

In the first chapter of the game, you'll make your way through some trains and eventually reach a turnstile that you need to go through to get inside the actual station. If you're playing on PS4, you can backup your save via USB or the PS+ cloud here. If you're playing on PS5, you have to use PS+ to backup your save to the cloud. Backing up this save will prevent you from having to replay Chapter 1 from the beginning but if you don't have a way to backup your save, it's ok. The part you need to replay is only about 10 minutes long. No trophies are earned in this step.

Step 2: Choose Ubermensch or Untermensch, then play through to the last chapter of the game

While at this turnstile, there will actually be two paths you can go. Going through the turnstile will get you Übermensch trophy_bronze.png. If you go through the gap in the luggage just left of the turnstile, you'll get Untermensch trophy_bronze.png. Pick either or. You'll need to come back to this point to get the other trophy so just remember which one you chose. From there, play through the entire game until you reach the very end with Eva. You'll be given two sets of options to choose from. The first one you'll decide what happens to Eva, then the second one you'll decide what happens to you. Each decision is tied to a trophy so to make it easier, just choose the first option for both decisions. A short cut scene based on your decisions will play out. Immediately after, a short cutscene facing a snow-covered bunker will start (see Putting the Pieces Together trophy_gold.png for more info on this). When it does, pause the game and choose to "reload checkpoint". You'll start back at the beginning of the ending sequence with Eva. This time, choose the bottom options when you are prompted to decide the two fates. Let all the cutscenes continue to play out until the credits start to roll.

After this step, you will earn:

Übermensch trophy_bronze.png or Untermensch trophy_bronze.png (depending on what path you chose at the beginning of the game)
Denial trophy_bronze.png
Anger trophy_bronze.png
Bargaining trophy_bronze.png
Depression trophy_bronze.png
Sleep, Sister trophy_silver.png
I Can't Do It trophy_silver.png
Don't Look Back trophy_bronze.png
Beacon of Hope trophy_bronze.png
Putting the Pieces Together trophy_gold.png
Acceptance trophy_bronze.png

Step 3: Clean-up

If you were able to back up your save, reload it so you start back at the turnstile. If you were not able to back up your save, start a new game and progress through the first chapter until you reach the turnstile at the train station. This time, choose the opposite of what you chose in Step 1 so if in Step 1 you went through the turnstile, this time go to the luggage. If you went through the luggage before, this time go through the turnstile.

After this step, you will earn:

Übermensch trophy_bronze.png  or Untermensch trophy_bronze.png (depending on what path you chose)

  • Make your way through Anger

    Story Related

This trophy will unlock once you've completed the 2nd chapter, "Anger".
  • Make your way through Bargaining

    Story Related

This trophy will unlock once you've completed the 3rd chapter, "Bargaining".
  • Make your way through Depression

    Story Related

This trophy will unlock once you've completed the 4th chapter, "Depression".
  • Make your way through Acceptance

    MISSABLE

This trophy should 100% be marked as 'Story Related' as you get it for completing the 5th and final chapter, "Acceptance". The reason for it being marked as missable is that it won't unlock until you watch the final cutscene outside of the snow-covered bunker. If you exit back to the main menu before it pops and start a new game, you'll need to play through the entire game over again to get it. If you're utilizing the "reload checkpoint" feature for Putting the Pieces Together trophy_gold.png, just be sure to let the cutscene play out on the second set of endings you watch.

Secret trophies

  • Welcome to Paradise

    MISSABLE

In the first chapter (Denial), you'll make your way through a trainyard. There will come a point where you open a train door and find yourself outside in a snowy area, then back amongst the trains. Just after this, you'll come to a train station and, shortly after, a turnstile. There are two paths you can take at this part:

Straight ahead (marked with a red arrow in the image above), there is a gap between the stacks of luggage that you can squeeze through. This path will get you Übermensch trophy_bronze.png. The path to the right (marked with a blue arrow in the image above) will take you through the turnstile and into the station. This will get you Untermensch trophy_bronze.png.

For this trophy, take the path forward through the luggage and keep progressing forward until you reach an elevator (you'll actually end up inside the train station). If you find yourself getting lost or not sure where to go, keep an eye out for the white dot showing the next set of doors/objects you need to interact with. When you reach the elevator, the trophy will unlock.

If you want to get Übermensch trophy_bronze.png and Untermensch trophy_bronze.png in the same run, you'll need to backup your save file. PS4 players can do this via USB or the PS+ Cloud but PS5 players will only be able to do it via the PS+ Cloud. Back up your save before making the decision on what path you want to take. Choose either or, then when the respective trophy unlocks, redownload your save and choose the opposite. If you're not able to backup your save, you'll need to play through Chapter 1 up to this point again to get whichever trophy you didn't get on your first playthrough.
  • Welcome to Hell

For this trophy, take the path to the right and go through the turnstile. While inside the train station lobby, you'll need to find a ticket in a suitcase, then stamp it inside the office. This will allow you to unlock the gate leading to the elevator. Once the gate is opened, the trophy will unlock.

If you'd like to get both of these trophies in one playthrough, please see Übermensch trophy_bronze.png for how to do so.
  • Leave the bunker

At the very end of Chapter 5, Acceptance, you'll have to decide if you want to stay in the bunker or leave. You'll be asked twice what you want to do so just be sure that the second time you choose to leave. As soon as you decide, the trophy will unlock. Make sure you watch the short cutscene of you actually leaving the bunker so the game registers you as seeing this "ending".

At the very end of Chapter 5, Acceptance, you'll have to decide Eva's fate. She'll ask you to unplug her but it'll be up to you as to whether or not you actually do it. For this trophy, respect her wishes and choose to unplug her when asked. As soon as you decide, the trophy will unlock. MISSABLE

There are 4 ending-related trophies: I Can't Do It trophy_silver.png, Sleep, Sister trophy_silver.png, Don't Look Back trophy_bronze.png and Beacon of Hope trophy_bronze.png. You can get one Eva and one bunker trophy at a time but there is a way to get them all in the same playthrough so you don't need an entire second run to get the two you didn't earn on your first run.

At the very end of Chapter 5, Acceptance, you'll have a small talk with Eva and will need to make two decisions. The 1st one will be to decide her fate and the 2nd will be to decide yours. You can choose either or for each but to make it a smidgen easier on yourself, just choose the top two options first. This will give you Sleep, Sister trophy_silver.png and Beacon of Hope trophy_bronze.png. Let the ending cutscenes play out and it'll eventually cut to a short cutscene just outside of a snowy bunker:

As soon as this cutscene starts, pause the game and choose "reload checkpoint". This will start you back at the beginning of the final scene with Ewa. Go through the dialogue again and this time choose the second option for both decisions. This will get you I Can't Do It trophy_silver.png and Don't Look Back trophy_bronze.png. Let the ending cutscenes play out and when you reach the cutscene with the bunker, the trophy will unlock. If you do not already have Acceptance trophy_bronze.png, let this cutscene with the bunker play out until it unlocks. If you exit out too early and start a new game, you'll miss it and will need to play a complete second playthrough to get it.  If you prefer to use a video walkthrough, please see below:
