Introduction:

Welcome to Nioh, the long awaited PS4 exclusive from Team Ninja (who developed the brutally hard Ninja Gaiden series). Nioh borrows RPG and stamina management elements from the Dark Souls/Bloodborne games, similar loot system from the Diablo series, and many combat elements from the Ninja Gaiden series. The combination of these gameplay elements has led to a successful bout for this game, and looks to be a return to form for Team Ninja! Now give us a proper Ninja Gaiden sequel!

While tricky, this isn't the hardest game to platinum. Most of the trophies come from just playing all the missions and side content in the game. There's a few combat related ones, mastering all 5 weapons, and for beating specific hidden bosses. There are also trophies for mastering specific skills for all 5 weapons, along with ninjutsu and onymo magic. There aren't any missable trophies in this game as all trophy-specific missions can be replayed. Lastly, there are a few really easy and fun miscellaneous trophies which should wrap up your new and shiny platinum!


Walkthrough:

Step 1: Beat All Missions + Find Collectibles (Kodamas & Hotsprings)

Welcome to the Nioh Trophy Guide. First you should focus on beating the story. You can collect all Kodamas and Hotsprings along the way. Kodamas are little green men scattered around all main missions and some side missions. Hotsprings are pools of water that you can bathe in. You can keep track of everything by pressing > Titles > Gameplay Record.

The story consists of 6 regions, all of which have a bunch of main & side quests. You must complete the side quests too! Samurai of Legend requires you to beat all missions, including Twilight Missions. Side missions give some of the best rewards (Spirits, Gestures and Collectibles) and you should do them as soon as possible. Twilight Missions are very hard — do the low level ones when you see them and keep the hard ones for later.

Play the game however you want with whatever weapon you like. A large portion of trophies unlock without trying, and many things go hand in hand with side missions and completion based tasks (e.g. getting all Spirits is from doing all main & side missions). Some of the endgame side quests are extremely challenging because you must fight two bosses at the same time. You cannot play these missions in co-op until both players have beaten them solo. Normally those would be a 7/10 in difficulty but there is an exploit available to beat them very easily, no skill required. See Samurai of Legend for more info on how to beat these missions.

As of Patch 1.03, this exploit has been heavily nerfed but can still work with more emphasis on item management

If you woul like to use this exploit, do not update to patch 1.03. If for instance you update to patch 1.03, and would like to use this exploit, you will have to delete and reinstall the game without the patch. Also you must start a new game on a new save file, as save files are linked to the most recent patches. Digital owners are out of luck as the game comes downloaded with the patch. Still I have provided videos on how to beat the bosses without the living weapon exploit, for those that want to do it the hard way.

Important: Always sell the gear you don’t need (at the blacksmith). Do not throw it away and do not trade it for Amrita at shrines. Only disassemble what you must. You need a total of 20 million money for Regular Smith Customer so better start saving early. Also make the “Sell Price Markup” request as soon as possible. While at the blacksmith press (Dialogue) > I have a request. This will give you more money when selling items. To make requests you must get patronage levels. You get patronage levels by spending more money at the blacksmith.

Step 2: Mystic Arts

After finishing the story, you will get access to New Game+. Missions now have a higher level and drop divine items (legendary gear). This makes leveling weapon proficiency a lot faster. To earn the mystic arts you need 500,000 proficiency with all 5 weapons (sword, dual swords, spear, axe, kusarigama). This will then unlock new dojo missions. Completing the dojo mission tied to your weapon unlocks the mystic art. Now purchase it to earn the trophy.

To get the mystic arts for magic / ninjutsu you need 20 attribute points invested in magic / dexterity. You can reset your skill points via a book of reincarnation (purchased at blacksmith). Then put your points into those two attributes, do the missions, buy mystic arts and reset attributes again.

Proficiency is earned whenever you damage an enemy. Higher level enemies give a significant boost in proficiency. The mission level works as a multiplier, so pick a very high level mission. A good place to farm is the first main mission “Isle of Demons” (level 180). Either farm the normal mobs or keep replaying the Onryoki boss and let him kill you. It will take 30 minutes to max out a single weapon and little over 2 hours for all of them.

Step 3: Regular Smith Customer & Master of Quality

Regular Smith Customer requires you to make 60 requests at the blacksmith. This is based on how much money you’ve spent at the blacksmith. The more you spend, the more “patronage levels” you earn. While at the blacksmith press (Dialogue) > I have a request. These requests include reduced prices (e.g. Sell Price Markup, Purchase Price Discount…). You need to exchange patronage levels for requests 60 times!

Master of Quality requires you to find all highest quality materials. A lot of them are from twilight missions. Once you have divine gear and a high level character these missions get a lot easier. Before selecting a mission it tells you what material can be earned from it. Many other rare materials are obtained from disassembling gear and as mission rewards, some dropped by bosses. After the story you’ll already have the majority of materials, as they are automatic mission rewards.

In this step, you should unlock:

Step 4: Mop-Up

Now is the time to mop up any miscellaneous trophies you may have left. The miscellaneous trophies are relatively quick and easy. You may have unlocked them in earlier steps if you kept track of them, or randomly by playing the game. See each trophy for more information.

In this step, you should unlock the rest of the trophies along with the Platinum!

This trophy guide was based on patch 1.02, but now has been updated for patch 1.11

Recent Patches and the Changes brought by it:

1) Living Weapons have been nerfed to the point where their health decays progressively faster. This make living weapon builds much less effective. You can invest a lot of prestige points in Living Weapon duration and health to counter this. It still might not be enough though
2) The recent patch has increased the effectiveness of the extraction talisman accordingly. It increases the amount of living weapon life recovery but the duration of the talisman is shortened. So the Living Weapon build is still somewhat viable. You'll just have to constantly micro-manage the extraction talismans and soulstones to refill your living weapon bar.
3) The most recent patch has introduced new sub missions into the game, but they are not required for Samurai of Legend
4) Lastly since the introduction of patch 1.04, you cannot do the infinite amrita glitch shown in the trophy guide. You can only do it on patches 1.03 and below. Even if you delete the game and reinstall it, your save file is linked to the latest patch you last played the game on. Thus you either have to start a new save file if you'd like to use the infinite amrita glitch, or never update the game if you are just starting the game for the first time. You can only do this with the physical version of the game, as digital copies are downloaded with the latest patches installed.
5) With Patch 1.08, New paid DLC content has been added to the game called the "Dragon of the North". None of the DLC missions or trophies are needed to achieve the platinum trophy for the base game.
6) A New Difficulty "Way of the Demon" was added as of patch 1.08. It features enemies and missions are insanely high levels. This can help with farming money and amrita for leveling up. Again, completing missions in this difficulty is not needed for the platinum, but can help to speed up the acquisition of the Platinum trophy.
7) Patch 1.08 also added a PVP mode, which is not needed for the Platinum trophy.
8) As of Patch 1.08, you are able to equip two guardian spirits at once. You can switch between them whenever you want.
9) Patch 1.08 also added new gestures, items, equipment, a new weapon type, samurai skills, ninjutsu skills, and onmyo skills. All of which are great additions, but not needed for the platinum trophy.

Dragon of the North is the first of three separate DLC packs released for Nioh. This includes a new region called Tohoku which is available once you have completed the main game mission 'The Queen's Eyes'. This new region acts like all others in the game and contains 3 main missions, 7 side missions and 1 Twilight mission. The missions are harder than the main game, but with your end game equipment you won't have too much trouble completing them on Way of the Samurai (although on Way of the Demon I found them considerably more difficult than the main game's missions). There are also a few new enemies in the DLC and on Way of the Demon in the main game.

In this guide I will list as many hints and tips as possible to make the ride easier. With proper preparation and a good build, you can make Way of the Demon less daunting than it seems.

Walkthrough

Step 1 - Complete all new missions, side missions whilst finding all Kodama and Hot Springs

During this step, complete every mission in the Tohoku region, whilst also collecting all Kodama and finding all Hot Springs in the process.

Introduction

Defiant Honour is the second of three separate DLC packs released for Nioh. This includes a new region called Siege of Osaka (Winter) which is available once you have completed the main game mission 'The Queen's Eyes'. This new region acts like all others in the game and contains 2 main missions, 5 side missions and 1 Twilight mission. The missions are harder than the main game but with your end game equipment you won't have too much trouble completing them on Way of the Samurai.

There are also a few new enemies in the DLC, a new difficulty called 'Way of the Wise' and the Tonfa which is a new weapon. You can also further upgrade Divine Weapons and there is a new rarity tier called 'Ethereal', these are extremely rare and have very powerful unique bonuses that can only be found on Way of the Wise. Fortunately this is not required for any trophy as it is brutally hard.

If you have completed all of the main game and Dragon of the North missions on Way of the Demon you will have little trouble completing them all here, your gear will be considerably more powerful by now which will make it more than manageable.

Introduction:

Bloodsheds End is the third and final DLC pack released for Nioh. This includes a new region called Siege of Osaka (Summer) which is available once you have completed the main game mission 'The Queen's Eyes'. This new region acts like all others in the game and contains 3 main missions, 9 side missions and 1 Twilight mission. The missions are harder than the main game but with your end game equipment you won't have too much trouble completing them on Way of the Samurai.

There are also a few new enemies in the DLC, a new difficulty called 'Way of the Nioh' which increases the level cap and allows you to increase your attributes up to 200 each. This is by far the hardest difficulty but it is not required for any trophy so you can ignore this if you wish. There is also a new mode called Abyss where you battle your way through various floors with increasing difficulty for loot and other rewards.

If you are confident you can play through all missions on Way of the Demon on your first attempt to save time.

    Unlock all other trophies to earn the platinum (DLC not required).

  • Samurai of Legend

     

    Completed all missions.

    Complete all Main Missions, Side Missions, Dojo training missions, and Twilight Missions. New Game+ missions (Way of the Strong difficulty) are not required. Side missions are unlocked automatically when you beat main missions. Some side missions are part of a quest line so you must beat the previous quest first. Only one side mission is hidden – after doing the mystic art dojo missions, you’ll get a new sub mission in Omi region in which you must kill some monsters and a Nue boss with an NPC friend.

    Twilight Missions show up randomly on the left side of the world map. They have a red eye symbol. These missions change periodically, each day at 7AM CET / 6AM GMT / 1AM ET / 11PM PT. Twilight Missions that you already completed have a red checkmark when you scroll over them. These missions are very hard, so you may want to do them after finishing the story when you have access to divine items. The low-level ones you should do as soon as they become available, to reduce waiting times. You can check your progress by pressing Touchpad > Titles > Gameplay Record > Other > Mission achievement rate (%).

    *There are reports of the trophy popping after only 6 Twilight Missions.

    The two hardest missions are the end game side missions “A Meeting on the Other Shore” and “The Two Kings: Nioh”. Here you have to fight two bosses at the same time. There is a very easy trick however (nerfed by Patch 1.03)! Use Soulstones (via quick item slot) to power up your living weapon. When the living weapon runs out use 1-2 soulstones to power it up again and repeat. While the living weapon is active you cannot take any damage. So you are invincible, but also deal heavy elemental damage. Use the spear for AOE damage. Note - save all amrita soul stones for these two fights. You can farm amrita in many ways, but farming for amrita soul stones are a bit harder.

    Note: As of Patch 1.06, new free missions have been added to the base game. These missions aren't required to complete to achieve this trophy. Also missions from any paid DLC are not required for this trophy as well.

    Even with Living weapon duration being decreased in patch 1.06, the Extraction Talisman has been fixed appropriately. Now the talisman can increase the amount of living weapon life recovery for amrita gained, but at the cost of shorter duration. All that means is that you'll be micro-managing a lot more than before, cycling between the use of extraction talismans and soulstones. The Living Weapon Build is still very much possible if you invest a lot of prestige points into Living Weapon Duration and Durability.

  • The Beginning of a Samurai

    Killing enemies and completing missions gives you amrita. This amrita can be traded for level ups at shrines. By the end of the story, you should reach level 100 easily. If you are still a few levels short go do some New Game+ missions, as they give huge XP rewards.

  • Ultimate Pro

     

    Reached maximum proficiency with your first weapon.

    The maximum proficiency score is 999,999. Your proficiency increases every time you hurt an enemy. Even if your weapon’s familiarity is at maximum (e.g. 900/900), it will keep counting additional proficiency points in the background. So you do not have to switch weapons after one is maxed out. If you stick to a single weapon type, you should unlock this at about 50% campaign completion. Just stick to one weapon type and it’ll come automatically in your playthrough.

    You can see your proficiency for each weapon type in the additional stats. While on the player stats press to view additional stats for proficiency. Some weapons and accessories provide bonuses on proficiency so you can max them out quicker.

    The fastest way to farm proficiency is in New Game+. Missions will now have a higher level and drop divine items (legendary gear). This makes leveling weapon proficiency a lot faster. Higher level enemies give a significant boost in proficiency. The mission level works as a multiplier, so pick a very high level mission. A good place to farm is the first main mission “Isle of Demons” (level 180 in New Game+). Either farm the normal mobs or keep replaying the Onryoki boss, but let him kill you before his health reaches zero.

    Note: With the addition of Way of the Demon with Patch 1.08, enemies in these missions are stronger and higher level, granting faster weapon proficiency. This will speed up the proficiency grinding.

    This is only possible after completing main mission “Immortal Flame” in the Sekigahara Region (fifth region). Completing that mission will unlock new missions in the dojo for obtaining the weapon based mystic arts. You need 500,000 proficiency with each weapon type to unlock the mystic art for it. After getting half a million proficiency points, the dojo mission unlocks. Complete the mission and then buy the mystic art using skill points.

    You can see your proficiency for each weapon type in the additional stats. While on the player stats, press to view additional stats for proficiency. Some weapons and accessories provide bonuses on proficiency so you can max them out quicker.

  • Ninjutsu Master

     

    Acquired mystic art for Ninjutsu.

    This is only possible after completing dojo mission “A True Ninja”. To unlock it you need 20 attribute points invested in Dexterity, and have beaten main mission “A Defiled Holy Mountain”.
    You must also have completed the Novice, Adept, and Veteran levels of the dojo questline “The Way of the Ninja”. For each quest you need +5 dexterity points (5 dexterity for Novice, 10 for Adept, 15 for Veteran, 20 for A True Ninja). After completing these requirements “A True Ninja” unlocks in the dojo. Beat this mission and the mystic art becomes available for purchase. Then buy it in the skill menu for 5 Ninja Skill Points and the trophy unlocks.

  • Onmyo Magic Master

     

    Acquired mystic art for Onmyo Magic.

    This is only possible after completing dojo mission “A Greater Harmony”. To unlock it you need 20 attribute points invested in Magic and beat main mission “A Defiled Holy Mountain”.
    You must also have completed the Novice, Adept, and Veteran levels of the dojo questline “The Way of the Onymo”. For each quest you need +5 magic points (5 magic for Novice, 10 for Adept, 15 for Veteran, 20 for A Greater Harmony). After completing these requirements “A Greater Harmony” unlocks in the dojo. Beat this mission and the mystic art becomes available for purchase. Then buy it in the skill menu for 5 Onmyo Magic Skill Points and the trophy unlocks.

  • Fashionista

     

    Changed your hair style or beard.

    Step 1: Spend a lot of money at the blacksmith (fastest way is to buy the Book of Reincarnation). This will give you patronage points, which you can exchange for unlocks at the blacksmith.

    Step 2: Press to talk to Tome at the blacksmith (while in the blacksmith menu). Select “I have a request for Tome” and then “Unlock Barber Menu”.

    You’ll be using the blacksmith quite a lot over the course of the game. All money you spend counts (even forging, reforging etc). Only 1 patronage point is required to unlock the barber menu. Now select a new hair style or beard to earn the trophy.

  • Latest Masterpiece

     

    Forged an item.

    To forge an item go to Blacksmith -> Forge.

    You get crafting materials by disassembling gear in your inventory. This can also be done at the blacksmith. Some materials are mission rewards.

  • Regular Smith Customer

     

    Made a total of 60 requests at the blacksmith.

    Requests require patronage levels. Patronage is based on how much money you’ve spent at the blacksmith. The more you spend, the more “patronage levels” you earn. While at the blacksmith press (Dialogue) > I have a request for Tome. These requests include reduced prices (e.g. Sell Price Markup, Purchase Price Discount…). You need to exchange patronage levels for requests 60 times! The requests from master blacksmith Muramasa also count (after unlocking him in side mission “The Trail of the Master”).

    Always sell the gear you don’t need (at the blacksmith). Do not throw it away and do not trade it for Amrita at shrines. Only disassemble what you must. Request the “Sell Price Markup” as soon as possible.

    You need to spend a total of 20 million money!

    Up until 30 requests, every 200,000 you spend gives 1 request point. After that it gradually takes more money per request point. Exhausting all dialogue options from Tome and Muramasa also sometimes gives points. For example, when talking to Muramasa he may ask you a question. Make your dialogue choice and check if you earned any request points from it. This doesn’t always happen. Just try it every now and then. If you only have a few requests left this can be a quick booster without having to farm money. Personally, I got 2 x 2 points by talking to Muramasa repeatedly.

    It doesn’t matter on what you spend the money. You can straight up purchase expensive items such as The Book of Reincarnation or invest in forging / soul matching etc. All money spent at the blacksmith counts. It would make the most sense to buy expensive swords or armor and then sell it again to get some cash back. Forging equipment and selling it will also give you some cash back, but the forging price is higher than the selling price (and the item quality is randomized).

    Please note: buying back equipment that you sold does not count as money spent, so you can’t trick the game by reselling and rebuying.

    Meepy - has suggested a farming method that gives over 100,000 money every few minutes: in New Game+ (after beating all main missions) play the mission “Request for Ginchiyo”. Run past all the enemies and pick up the Old Charm. This only takes 1-2 minutes and you receive over 110k money every time. It’s still a long grind and will take a few hours. The Old Charm is always in a different box hidden around the map so you have to check all of them.

    Another good strategy with similar earnings is to farm revenants in New Game+. The mission “The Battle of Ohashi Bridge” works best – it takes place on a bridge and people always die right at the start. They all have divine gear. Each piece of divine gear can be sold for over 10,000 money. Higher level revenants give up to 5 item drops, so 50k money for 10 seconds of work. They are very easy to kill with the spearfall skill (using the spear). It knocks them on the ground, now do one finisher and they are dead. To get the most earnings you should keep your character level low. The more levels the revenants are above you the more items they drop. Reset your skill points but don’t spend all of them. Only get to level 75 with the most crucial attributes for maximized weapon damage. The revenants in New Game+ are mostly level 100+. Now they are 25 levels above you and will always drop 4-5 gear pieces for super quick money. If you put 50 points in Body attribute and use the spear they die in 1 spearfall combo. You may want to back up your save game before resetting your level (PS4 Settings > Application Saved Data Management). Farm the bridge until your inventory is full and then sell it all at the blacksmith. You can press at the blacksmith to auto-sell all items at once.

    Update: There seems to be an exploit (with patch 1.02) that allows you to get all request points by talking to Tome and Muramasa over and over again. Just spam on their dialogue. Even after exhausting all dialogue options it should give you another 2-4 points every 5-10 minutes (even when it shows the same dialogue every time). If talking to Tome doesn’t give new points, talk to Muramasa instead (and vice versa). If you don’t get any new points after 10 minutes, play one mission, buy and sell some stuff, repeat. This could very well get patched out in the future but it has worked for several people using patch 1.02. Using this trick you may not need to farm money at all.

    PixelJared - has suggested to take all unwanted loot and disassemble them. The materials that you get out of this can be sold for more than double the money than if you sold the loot by itself. Thanks for pointing this out!

  • Master of Quality

     

    Collected all the best materials.

    There are two major ways to get crafting materials: from disassembling equipment at the blacksmith and from mission rewards. Some materials are obtained from Twilight Missions (and you'll have to play a fair amount). On rare occasions these materials can drop in missions (e.g. Demon Horn from large Yokai Monsters). These materials have purple & green (divine) text color and are listed under “Smithing Materials”.

  • Teamwork

     

    Completed 10 missions with NPC or in the “Yokai Realm with a companion” with other users.

    You can farm this solo in sub-mission “Greater Demon Hunting” in the Kinki Region. This mission has NPC and you just need to beat it 10 times. Alternatively, the sub-mission “Master of the Twin Blades” (Omi Region) also works really well for this, and personally that’s where I unlocked the trophy. You'll get this side mission after reaching 500,000 proficiency with dual swords and doing the mystic art dojo mission for it.
    If you want to do it in co-op, go to the starting point on world map > Tori Gate > Yokai Realm with companion. Play 10 missions with a co-op partner. If you want to play a private match, set a password in the online options and make sure your friend has the same password. One player clicks Search for Companion, the other Wait for Companion.

  • Yokai Telepathy

     

    Communicated with a yokai 10 times.

    You must use gestures to communicate with Yokai. This works on “Nurikabe” (walls that have eyes and attack you) and “Mujina” (they sometimes come out of boxes and imitate you).

    The walls are quicker to farm. The best spot is in the second main mission “Deep in the Shadows”. After entering the cave with the first bat swarm there’s a side room with some enemies and a Nurikabe inside.

    You must use a gesture in front of the wall. If you use the right type of gesture the wall will peacefully go away and it counts as a “communication”.

    There are blue, yellow and red gestures. It doesn’t matter what gesture you use, it just has to be the correct color. It’s randomized on each playthrough which color is the right one. You have two tries before the wall gets aggressive. I got best results by using yellow and red. Two tries are equal to 66% success rate. If the wall gets aggressive, jump off the nearby cliff or let the enemies kill you. Then run to the wall again and do the third color and it will work 100%.

    After the wall has disappeared, quit the mission using the Himorogi Fragment (usable item). Then restart the mission and repeat 10 times! Always do yellow and red (if it fails kill yourself and do blue). This will always work 100%.

    If you do this on Mujina, you must imitate the gesture that they do when transforming into your body.

  • Master of Chaos

     

    Confused an enemy for the first time.

    For me this unlocked when combining the water elemental effect + fire elemental effect on one enemy.
    One way to do this is to enhance your weapon via water magic and repeatedly attack a large enemy (e.g. Onryoki boss). When the element begins to affect the enemy, activate a living weapon with fire element.
    Instead of using a living weapon you can use multiple elemental weapon enhancement (amulets or magic) in a row. In co-op there’s a good chance this will unlock when one player uses a water living weapon, the other a fire living weapon. It’s very likely to unlock naturally without even trying.
    Later in the game you often come across flying skulls. Destroying them applies an elemental effect to your weapon. When you fight a large enemy with skulls nearby it may unlock naturally. If you don’t want to bother with this, just play through the story first and see if it unlocks along the way.

  • Twilight Walker

     

    Completed your first Twilight mission.

    From time to time while playing through the campaign you will get text pop ups after missions, saying a new Twilight Mission is available. These missions change periodically, each day at 7AM CET / 6AM GMT / 1AM ET / 11PM PT. They can be selected on the far left of your world map (the hub area from where you select missions). They look like red glowing eyes. Twilight Missions are the same missions you completed earlier, but much harder and with remixed enemy locations. Complete any one of these missions to earn the trophy. If you have trouble going through these missions, do it later when your character is at a higher level.

  • Spa Healer

     

    Bathed in first hot spring.

  • Yokai Quelling Master

     

    Defeated all types of yokai.

    To see which types of Yokai you have defeated, press > Titles > Gameplay Record > Small Yokai Defeated. To see pictures of all the enemies press > Amrita Memories > Yokai Illustrations.

    The Large Yokai Defeated are all automatic story bosses and unmissable. If you play all missions and always clear out all enemies, you will automatically kill each enemy type once. None of them are hidden. If you don’t rush, and kill everything, this comes naturally. Warning: If you fight bosses in co-op make sure you get the killing blow or it won't count towards this trophy.

    The only rare enemies are Karakasa Umbrella in sub-mission “The Ogress” and Mudman in main mission “The Defiled Castle. The other enemies show up quite frequently throughout the game.

  • Spa Lover

     

    Bathed in every hot spring.

    There are 20 Nioh Hot Spring Locations.

    Hot springs replenish your health and give a buff that recovers health over time. They can make a huge difference when used before a boss fight, or when you run out of elixirs they provide a quick way to get back health without having to use a shrine.

    Most of them are well-hidden in hard to reach places on the edge of the map. The hot springs are saved instantly after bathing in them. You don’t have to reach the next checkpoint. Remember: anything you’ve missed can be obtained via mission select at any time.

    To see your progress press – Gameplay Record – Other – Hot Springs discovered (%) / Hot Springs bathed in (amount).

    Please note that “Hot Springs discovered” gives only a percentage. “Hot Springs bathed in” gives you the total number of times you used hot springs. If you use the same one multiple times it will increase the amount as well, so this isn’t ideal for tracking (unless you never use the same hot spring more than once).

    If for some reason the trophy doesn’t unlock, rush through all missions again. You can collect all of these within 30 minutes if you know the levels well enough. If you’d like to combine it with the run for Kodama Locations, I recommend you get the Kodamas first and then look for the hot spring afterwards. Main missions never have more than one hot spring!

  • Gesture Master

     

    Acquired 40 gestures.

    Gestures are unlocked as mission completion rewards, but also from miscellaneous tasks, such as giving dungballs to the dung lover in mission “The Defiled Castle”. The easiest way is to buy them from the Hidden Teahouse (unlocked after main mission “Spider Nest Castle”). You can exchange glory for new gestures. Glory is earned by defeating revenants, and by assisting other players in co-op. This is the easiest way to get a lot of glory in the game.
    When the game starts you already have a few gestures, and they count towards the 40 total. The rest will come naturally as you complete all missions the game has to offer. By the end of the story you should have this. If not, buy a few more gestures from the Hidden Teahouse and make sure you completed all side quests. You don’t need to search for any gestures, as they are automatic mission rewards.

  • Kodama Leader

     

    Collected all Kodama.

    Nioh has 150 Kodama Collectible Locations. There are 6 regions in the game and each has 25 Kodamas scattered across main- and side missions. As you play through the story, new regions will unlock. The regions are (in this order): Kyushu, Chugoku, Kinki, Tokai, Sekigahara, Omi.

    At shrines you can select Kodama Blessings. They are divided into 5 categories: more amrita, more weapon drops, more armor drops, more elixir drops, more material drops.

    Each of these blessing categories has 5 Kodamas per region (5 categories x 5 Kodamas = 25 Kodamas per region). The more Kodamas you find the stronger the blessing will become. Your Kodamas reset in every region. When you go to a region, you have to find 25 Kodamas again to earn the blessings. The Kodamas in old regions are still saved but have no effect in new regions.

    None of these collectibles are missable. They can all be obtained via mission select at any time (even after beating the story). When you scroll over a mission, it will show how many Kodama you've found. To see your total progress press Touchpad – Titles – Gameplay Record – Other – Kodama found (%). Please note this gives only a percentage and not the number of collectibles found.

    If you missed a Kodama, don’t worry. A lot of side missions & Twilight Missions take place in the same area and you can find the Kodamas there, too! They are in the same locations.

    You can also speedrun the mission quickly and quit out after finding the Kodama (use item “Himorogi Fragment”). All collectibles are saved instantly. You don’t have to reach the next checkpoint and don’t have to pick them up again if you die. You can quit the mission immediately after finding whatever Kodama you've missed.

    The spirit guardian spirit “Shinka” and “Tengen Kujaku” have an ability called Kodama Sense. Some other items have it too, and it reveals the Kodama locations via green dots on the radar. This can make it a bit easier to locate them.

    Step 1: Beat main mission “Spider Nest Castle” (Kinki Region).

    Step 2: Enter hidden Teahouse from Starting Point on the Map (where you also access blacksmith).

    Step 3: Select Trade > Transform. Choose a diguise you want to buy.

    Step 4: Click “Transform” in Hidden Teahouse. This will overwrite your current outfit. Gear you equip won’t alter the look of the disguise. You need 1300 glory minimum for the cheapest disguise (Hattori Hanzo). You get glory from fighting revenants (the red graves in missions that spawn the ghosts of dead players), and for assisting other players in co-op. You can farm it quickly by replaying low level missions where a lot of players have died. A lot of glory can be earned for helping players finish missions in co-op.

  • Refashion

     

    Changed the appearance of an item.

    To refashion an item go to Blacksmith -> Refashion.

    You can give gear in your inventory the appearance of other gear that you have previously found. You can even give light armor the look of heavy armor without changing any stats or equip weight.

  • Legendary Swordsmith

     

    Found Muramasa and brought him in.

    Automatic reward for completing the side mission “The Trail of the Master” in Tokai Region (Level 79).

  • Divine Obtainer

     

    Obtained first divine item.

    At the end of the story, after defeating Yamata-no-Orochi you automatically receive a drop of divine items. Unlike normal gear they have green text color and have better defense and bonus values. They also have a proficiency level like weapons (normal armor does not have this) and they have one additional buff over purple gear. After beating the story you can also play New Game+ where divine gear is a simple reward for mission completion.

  • Dungball Roller

     

    Became Ryunoshin the dung lover's best friend.

    You meet the dung lover in main mission “The Defiled Castle” (Tokai Region). You must give him 30 dungballs, prompting him to give you his helmet “Horned Turban Kabuto” and unlocking this trophy.

    Step 1: At the start of mission “The Defiled Castle” farm the 4 Mudman enemies. They lurk in the water and look like umi-bozus from earlier in the game but in brown color (dirty blobs). They have a ~20% chance of dropping a dungball. After killing all 4 use the shrine to make them respawn and keep farming them until you have 30 dungballs. This can take an hour or so. They can also drop “Noble Dungballs” which are even better and count as multiple normal dungballs.

    Step 2: When you have 30 dungballs, head upstairs and talk to the man behind the door (near the second shrine of this mission). Give him your dungballs. You can always give him packs of 5 dungballs. After giving 30, you receive his helmet and the trophy. If you give him noble dungballs, it will reduce the amount of normal dungballs needed. Noble dungballs are totally optional and not absolutely necessary.

    Mudmen are weak to fire. Enhance your weapon with fire magic and they will die in 1 hit. You can return to this section via mission select at any time. You will most likely find some noble dungballs randomly as you play through the rest of the story. This will reduce the amount of farming required.

    If he doesn’t give you the helmet or stops talking to you, just keep farming mudmen and bring him more dungballs. Yummy!

  • Ugly Fellow

     

    Used the mask of an ugly fellow to defeat an enemy.

    This trophy requires you to equip a Hyottoko Mask and kill an enemy with it. There are several sure shot ways to get the mask:

    1) Mission: The Conspirators (Chugoku Region) – Take it from a corpse in the cave before the end room with the two ninjas. When replaying the mission it respawns.

    2) Mission: Wreathed in Flame (Kyushu Region) – Automatic mission completion reward. Replay as often as you want to earn more masks.

    3) Hidden Teahouse: Buy it for 220 Glory (the Teahouse unlocks halfway through the campaign after mission “Spider Nest Castle”).

    Equip the mask in a shortcut slot, and then weaken an enemy so they die in one hit. It will breathe fire in a 2 meter radius, the enemy has to be close to you. If it kills the enemy you earn the trophy. If the enemy doesn’t die you must get another mask via one of the methods described above.

  • Keeper of the Flame

     

    Lit all three evil-warding bonfires in Itsukushima.

    There are three evil warding bonfire locations in main mission “The Ocean Roars Again” (Chugoku Region). They have the nice side effect that Umi-bozu (boss of this mission) cannot spawn his minions. This makes the boss fight a lot easier.

    At the start of the mission, talk to Fuku, the mage near the shrine. She gives you Flint to light the three fires. Now go to all three bonfires and press to interact with them. The bonfires during the boss fight will also be lit after this.

  • Ressurector of the Hiragumo

     

    Collected all fragments of the Hiragumo teakettle from Shigisan.

    There are six fragment locations. You find them all in main mission “Spider Nest Castle” (Kinki Region). Throughout this mission there are huge orange glowing spider webs. The first two are unmissable and must be destroyed to proceed. The other four are hidden around the map. When you get close to the web (or shoot it) a huge spider jumps out. Kill this spider and pick up the purple glowing fragment.

    The first two are unmissable, as stated previously. The third is in the spider cave, after dropping through the hole by the house. The fourth is after the spider cave on a watchtower (easiest to miss, shoot it with bow – thanks to Noirlingua). The fifth one is on the hill after opening the gate and reaching third shrine. The sixth is on top of the hill after the burning wheel enemy, before entering the big building.

    You can replay this mission at any time. When restarting the mission, you must get all fragments again.

  • Nue Slayer

     

    Defeated the Nue of Mount Hiei.

    Nue of Mount Hiei is an optional boss in main mission “The Demon of Mount Hiei”. Unlike other bosses, it does not display a health bar at the bottom of the screen. It’s the exact same boss as Nue in the early main mission “The Spirit Stone Slumbers”.

    Wait for her to breathe lightning or poison at you. Then quickly dodge to the left of her head (always the left so she can’t hit you!) and attack with quick low stance attacks. While Nue unleashes lightning she is defenseless and will sit around and her belly will glow yellow. This is the moment to attack with a heavy attack to instantly drain her Ki bar. You can then unleash a barrage of attacks or follow up with your Guardian Spirit, and she won’t be able to recover from her downed state. Make sure to dodge quickly after you attack, as she will unleash lightning strikes on your location when she recovers her Ki bar.

    Also use the nearby hotspring before the fight for automatic health recovery.

  • End Times

     

    Defeated Derrick the Executioner.

    In the last main mission “The Queen’s Eyes” (Omi Region), you can revisit the first boss of the game. He is hidden in a different location this time. At the second shrine of this mission (the one closest to the Derrick boss fight in the Prologue) go downstairs. In the basement you’ll find him.

    At this point in the game he is very easy to kill. Stay far away so he uses a dash attack. Then dodge to the side and attack for 3 seconds. Dodge away after 3 seconds because he will turn around and hit you otherwise. Repeat the process a few times. Wait for him to dash, dodge to side, attack 2-3 times, dodge away, repeat.

    Completed all Tohoku region missions.

    For this trophy you need to complete every mission in the new region which comprises of the 3 main and 7 side missions listed below. You do not need to complete the Twilight Mission for Yokai Country.

  • Destroyer of Demons

     

    Completed all "Way of the Demon" missions.

    This is by far the hardest and most time consuming trophy in the DLC and whole game. Not only do you have to complete Way of the Samurai, you also have to complete most missions on Way of the Strong to unlock 'The Queen's Eyes' which upon completion will unlock Way of the Demon difficulty. You must then complete EVERY single mission on Way of the Demon. When I say every mission I mean everything from the main game, including Twilight, Dojo, Tohoku region and all missions added by the 1.06 patch, some of which are considerably more difficult than the base game missions.

    General Tips:
    • Upgrading Equipment - Powerful equipment drops very regularly on Way of the Demon. You can get many Divine items that are commonly +7 and above right from the first mission. Make sure you are always soul matching to upgrade equipment to combat the more powerful enemies and bosses. See The Chosen One for gold farming tips.
    • Weapon/Armour Skills - The skills on your weapons and armour will be more important than the equipment itself in most instances, especially on weapons. An excellent way of getting weapons/armour with excellent transferable bonuses are by killing revenants left by other players on Death to Bandits Way of the Strong. The shoreline and general area is where a lot of players purposely die and drop weapons and armour with great skills on, so feel free to farm here as I did to get useful skills to soul match transfer to your own weapon. You can see the skills I used in my build below.
    • New Enemies - Some enemies can kill you in a single hit depending on your build, in particular the new red enemies which are special variants with several buffs. I recommended debuffing them with sloth and weakness talismans to defeat them quickly, as they can give you hell. What you will also notice is the new blue Ninja Yokai; they are similar to the main game counterpart but will also shoot you with a handcannon from range very quickly. Projectile enemies in general have a much higher rate of fire here which can be difficult to manage during a fight so take them out quickly. Other than that, enemy layout is mostly the same as on Way of the Strong.
    • Kodama Blessing - Use the Healer Blessing (you should have all Kodama collected before attempting this). The 25% Elixir drop rate increase allows you to heal very frequently and engage most enemies on maximum health.
    • Co-op - Don't be afraid to summon visitors as this can be a huge help, especially as a lot of players use Ninja builds which are extremely powerful.
    • Quick Change Scroll - This is extremely useful and I would say it is almost mandatory as it can save you from death once per use. It lasts a while and you can carry up to 3 at a time if you fully upgrade it (which I strongly recommend that you do).
    • Useful Ninjitsu Skills - Quick Change III, Medicine Man III, Power Pill III, Dodging III, Dashing III and the Enlightenment Mystic Art.
    • Useful Onmyo Skills - Sloth Talisman III, Weakness Talisman III, Heaven Cursed Earth II, Steel Talisman, Evil Ward III, Carnage Talisman III and the Awakening Mystic Art.
    • Elemental Talismans - I mainly used Earth as it paired well with the Raging Bull Set bonus adding 30% extra damage against muddied foes. Lightning is also one of the best as it slows down enemies, Wind reduces enemy attack power and Water reduces defence, whilst Fire causes recurrent damage. Feel free to use whatever you prefer or that suits your build, they are all useful.
    • Passive Weapon Skills - Sword, Relentless III (+10 Ki). Duel Swords, Tachi Arts III (+20% Damage against enemies with full HP), Defence Arts III (+20 Ki Recovery speed when guarding). Axe, Fortitude III (+200 Life). Kusarigama, Armour Piercer III (+16% Final Blow damage), Shadow Strike (+12% Damage from behind). Odachi, Passage to the Afterlife III (+12% Grapple damage). There are also some skills that increase damage with that particular weapon, feel free to unlock them as well if you use that as part of your build.

    For all of the above recommended skills you will need to invest around 30 or so points in to Dexterity and Magic provided you have been using the locks of hair which grant you more skillpoints during your previous playthroughs. Samurai skillpoints are much more plentiful so do not worry about these.

    Build Advice

    If you already have a solid build that got you through Way of the Strong without too much hassle, then just upgrading your current equipment and leveling up as appropriate will likely be fine. I personally used a Spear/Axe build, mainly using the Spear as I find it to be the perfect balance of speed, power and range, it is versatile and can wreak havoc with the right skills and equipment, but all of the other weapons can be just as devastating.

    As you can see I have very high HP and defence. The Raging Bull set adds a nice amount of % damage reduction so I was pretty tanky. I was able to withstand 4/5 hits from most enemies before being on the verge of death, 2/3 from red buffed enemies. Make sure your toughness is above 200 at all times, this way your attacks cannot get interrupted if you get hit.

    Try to also put most of your prestige points in to Yokai Close Combat damage, Ki, Life and Living Weapon Durability if you can.

    Weapons:

    Weapon 1: Oni Sakon Spear (Max Familiriaty) - Familiarity Damage Bonus A, Weaken Armour (Torso) 22.4%, Lightning +18, Close Combat Damage +15.4%, Pierce Guard (Close Combat) 13.4%, Change to Attack (Body) A+
    Weapon 2: Kaido Axe (Max Familiarity) - Familiarity Damage Bonus A, Skill Damage (Lumber Chop) +30%, Lightning +22, Close Combat Damage +20%, Pierce Guard (Close Combat) 13%, Change to Attack (Strength) A+

    Recommended Skills

    I strongly recommend using some of the skills I have on my weapons or the equivalent to suit your own build. For Armour this isn't quite as important, but try to get skills like Elemental Damage Reduction, +Ki, +Life, +Attack, +Defence and Evasion Ki Usage. The rest aren't essential.

    As for accessories the Yasakani Magatama is by far the best, especially if you are lucky enough to get Yokai Close Combat/Living Weapon Damage on it, they also reduce set bonus requirements by 1 which means equipping just a single piece from any set will grant you the first bonus regardless, usually a small amount of damage reduction.

    Guardian Spirits:

    Main: Kato - The reason I chose Kato is because of the 14% close combat and 21% skill damage at level 40 which synergise with my weapon skills very well and grants me a big increase in overall damage from close up. The extra 28 Ki and 29% Ki recovery speed makes overall Ki management easier, giving you more chances to attack and evade. It is also one of the best guardians for living weapon, granting one of the highest attack enhancements and the chance to set enemies on fire. If you rely heavy on Living Weapon Paired Raiken is arguably the best guardian to use.

    Secondary: Paired Raiken - I used Paired Raiken here for the +2.2% quick attack bonus, it's not huge but it was the best one for me to pair with Kato.

    Strategies

    I maxed out on Suppa and Catwalking Scrolls which make you invisible and silent. I used these to sneak up on enemies and kill them with Lumber Chop. This makes some of the harder missions trivial up until the boss fight, so it's a strategy you may want to employ.

    Against human enemies I mainly used the spearfall skill as this often knocks them down ready for a final blow; the axe is also good for ki breaks which allows for easy grapples. For horned yokai I used the axe more often for easy breaks. Feel free to use Power Pills often as they give a nice attack boost and you can hold 6 at a time.

    For bosses, make use of all of your skills, magic and ninjistu such as Sloth, Weakness, Carnage Talismans to debuff bosses and buff yourself, use spirit/soulstones to power up your living weapon before a fight. Make sure you always have a Quick Change Scroll active so you can survive any hit without dying.

    One of the most overpowered builds in the game is a Ninja build. This focuses on building up damage on thrown weapons such as shurikens and kunais to nuke everything in seconds. This build is very squishy and equipment reliant however, so it is not without its flaws. There is a link to example of this build courtesy of aquCHAOS here. It was nerfed slightly in a recent update, but it is still very powerful.

    It will feel like a big step up in difficulty at first, but once you start upgrading your equipment and leveling up more it becomes much more manageable and will not seem that much harder than Way of the Strong in the end. The most challenging part of the run will be the dual boss fights, Hanzo and Okatsu, as well as the solo fight against Maria which I found to be the most difficult.

    You can track your progress by pressing and scrolling to Titles, Gameplay Record, Dragon of the North, your 'Way of the Demon mission achievement rate' must be 100 to unlock the trophy.

  • Oshu Guide

     

    Collected all Kodama in the Tohoku region.

    In the Tokoku region there are 25 new Kodama for you to collect scattered across a few of the missions.

  • Odachi Master

     

    Acquired mystic art for the odachi.

    The mystic art for the Odachi is obtained in the same way as every other weapon: by getting 500,000 proficiency with it and completing the Dojo mission.
    I recommend farming Greater Demon Hunting as you should get around 70,000 Proficiency each time and it is very quick. Once you have done this you will have to complete the corresponding Dojo mission then unlock the mystic art in the skills menu to unlock the trophy.

  • The Chosen One

     

    Equipped +15 divine equipment in all slots. (Excludes accessories.)

    This should unlock naturally as you play providing you upgrade all of your equipment regularly, selling whatever you don't need.
    If you struggle for gold I strongly recommended completing the mission 'The Return of the Gourd' as you will be rewarded with a Rantajai Fragment, selling this nets you a whopping 10 million gold with sell price markup maxed out at the blacksmith, you can do this on both previous difficulties and sell both of them. Sell everything else you don't need especially divine items which are generally worth 13k or more each. The 'Restless Spirits' mission in the Omi Region is also a great gold farming mission that is quick if you can manage the fight effectively.
    To get +15 weapons you need to keep soul matching your own weapons with other divine weapons with equal to or greater ranking, for example to get a +2 weapon you need to soul match your own +1 weapon with another +1 weapon, to get a +3 you must soul match your +2 weapon with another and so on until you reach +15 in every slot.
    Thankfully on Way of the Demon very high level equipment drops frequently, on the first mission you will get drops of +7 and above right off the bat, so don't worry too much about this one, I had it before finishing every mission in the game.

  • Hot Spring Enthusiast

     

    Bathed in every hot spring in the Tohoku region.

    Hot springs also make a return in the Tohoku region, there are 4 in total.

  • Female Impersonator

     

    Completed any mission while transformed into a woman.

    There are new female skins that were added as part of the DLC; they are purchased from the Hidden Teahouse using Glory. You must then complete any mission as one of these skins.

    Unfortunately the costs of the new skins are very expensive, with the cheapest ones available costing 70,000 Glory and unless you have played a lot of co-op, you will not be anywhere near this amount. The fastest farming method would be to go online and become a visitor to help other players in various missions, successful runs can net you several thousand Glory with failures still getting you a few thousand in some cases, so it won't take too long to grind for this.

    You can also grind out high level revenants which can yields upwards of 200 Glory per kill.

  • A Reunion with Hanzo

     

    Completed "Yokai Country."

    Story related and cannot be missed

    You will earn this trophy upon completing 'Yokai Country', the first mission main available in the region.

  • Awakened Ambition

     

    Completed "The One-Eyed Dragon's Castle."

  • The Smoldering Flames of War

     

    Completed "Spirit Stone Huntress."

    Story related and cannot be missed

    You will earn this trophy upon completing 'Spirit Stone Huntress', the third and final main mission available in the region.

  • Eluding the Dragon

     

    Completed "Hands of the Dragon."

    Hands of the Dragon is a side mission that is unlocked after completing 'Spirit Stone Huntress'.
    This mission is a dual boss fight against two human opponents. It's not too difficult but you need to be careful on Way of the Demon. Try to focus on one of them at a time and avoid the paralysis bombs, and don't be afraid to use Living Weapon if you are getting overwhelmed.

  • Conqueror of Aoba Castle

     

    Seized all of Aoba Castle's three-storied keeps in "The One-Eyed Dragon's Castle."

    In 'The One-Eyed Dragon's Castle' there are four separate three-stories keeps around the level, they are not hard to find but make sure you clear them all without finishing the mission or you will have to start over.

    You must enter all of these and go all the way up to the top where a blue yokai ninja will spawn. Once you kill it the keep will be 'seized', and once you have seized them all the trophy will unlock.

  • Good Listener

     

    Listened to Katakura Shigenaga's entire introduction in "The One-Eyed Dragon's Castle."

    This trophy is easily unlocked on 'The One-Eyed Dragon's Castle'.
    Eventually you will come across an NPC called Katakura Shigenaga. This is actually a boss. Before you initiate the fight by approaching him he will be speaking; let him finish his dialogue and the trophy will unlock.

You must have first unlocked Way of the Demon, which is done by completing most missions on Way of the Strong to unlock 'The Queen's Eyes' which upon completion will unlock Way of the Demon. You must then complete all missions in Siege of Osaka (Winter) on this difficulty.

    If you have completed the main game and/or Dragon of the North on Way of the Demon then this shouldn't prove too difficult for you. You will have to complete the Tonfa Mystic Art Dojo Mission, which is a bit tricky and the Twilight Mission. I also strongly recommend finding all Kodama on Way of the Samurai so you can use the Healer Blessing on Way of the Demon to make elixirs drop more often.

    You can also play on Way of the Wise for very high level gear, frequently dropping at a minimum of level 200+ at +18 early on. This is not really necessary however but the option is there if you wish to upgrade your equipment even further.

    The Tonfa Dojo mission is probably the hardest part of this, however if you use the High Stance with the Tonfa and attack just before Hanzo does, you should combo in to him and not take any damage, it may take a few tries to get the timing down but this is a relatively easy way of defeating him.

  • Tonfa Triumph

     

    Defeated Sarutobi Sasuke in the mission "The Siege of Osaka (Winter)" using only tonfa. (Cannot use a Visitor/Companion.)

    Sarutobi Sasuke is a boss at the end of the mission Siege of Osaka, the first main mission available.
    For this trophy you must defeat him using only the Tonfa, they can drop randomly as with any other weapon or you can forge one at the blacksmith. Note that you can use Onmyo and Ninjitsu buffs, providing that 100% of the damage you inflict is from Tonfa attacks.

  • Master of the Twin Sticks

     

    Defeated Ganryu's Sasaki Kojiro using only Dual Wooden Swords. (Cannot use a Visitor/Companion.)

    For this trophy you must defeat Ganryu using only Dual Wooden Swords in the mission 'Ganryu', I recommend you attempt this on Way of the Samurai.
    If you do not have any dual wooden swords you can forge some if you have the smiting text or repeat the dojo mission The Grimmest Blades since they drop commonly from Ashikaga.

  • British Militarism

     

    Used all the culverins in the mission "The Siege of Osaka (Winter)."

    In the mission Siege of Osaka there are 3 cannons that you have to fire to destroy parts of the fortress wall in front of you, which will also stop the regular arrow volleys.

    The cannons are easily identified but you will need to find 3 cannonballs before you can use them, the locations are difficult to describe so it's best to refer to this video from PowerPyx:
     

  • Will of the Sanada

     

    Defeated all of Sanada's Ten Braves in "Scion of Virtue."

    In the mission Scion of Virtue, there are 10 unique enemies known as 'Braves' that you must find and defeat.
    Most of them are in your direct path and you should have no issues finding them as long as you are fully exploring every area of the level. The trophy will unlock at the camp near the 3rd shrine once you defeat the 10th Brave there, just before the boss fight.

  • From Heaven on High

     

    Completed "The Sparrow Flies Again."

    The Sparrow Flies Again is a side mission that is unlocked after completing 'Scion of Virtue'.
    In this fight you will have to fight against 3 bosses in a row, with a few normal enemies spawning in between. On Way of the Demon several projectile firing enemies will spawn which you should prioritise killing so you can then focus on the bosses. The final boss is Masamune Date and he will immediately activate living weapon upon spawning, which is why it's vital you eliminate the projectile firing enemies first.

  • Holy Trinity

     

    Equipped the Kusanagi Tsurugi, Yasakani Magatama, and Yata Mirror.

    For this trophy you must acquire 3 rare items:

    1: Kusanagi Tsurugi (Which is a Katana)
    2: Yasakani Magatama Mirror
    3: Yata Mirror

    The Mirrors are very rare accessories but this trophy will pop once you have them and the Katana equipped at the same time.

    If you have played through Way of the Demon you will may have a Kusanagi assuming you haven't sold it, if not you can kill Orochi on 'The Demon King Revealed' for a chance at one dropping, or farm Yaygu on the mission 'Marobashi' who can drop it's smithing text.

    If you need both accessories the best way to get them is to farm the mission 'Trial of the Master', there is a method where you can use a guaranteed accessory drop for a chance to get a Yasakani Magatama or Yata Mirror, both of which are very rare. Both of these can drop on Way of the Demon/Wise and rarely sold by Tome under 'Special Finds', I am not sure if they drop on Way of the Strong but they definitely do not drop on Way of the Samurai as they are Divine level minimum.

    'The Grand Tournament' is a side mission that is unlocked after completing 'The Last Samurai'.
    In this mission you will fight increasingly difficult enemy waves. There are around 100 enemies in total including some bosses you have to fight, they start off very weak and gradually get stronger, you will fight several bosses in a row towards the end with a dual boss fight to finish off. Make sure to have the Healer Blessing equipped and use Living Weapon whenever it's available to make things easier. Although you can play this level on Way of the Strong, there isn't any point as you need to complete all missions on Way of the Demon regardless.

  • The Master's Master

     

    Completed "The Master Ninja" on Way of the Strong or higher.

    'The Master Ninja' is a side mission that is unlocked after completing 'The Last Samurai'. In this mission you have to fight Jin Hayabusa but he isn't particularly difficult or harder than most other bosses, just avoid his paralysis attacks and you won't have issues with this fight. Make sure to play this on Way of the Demon and not Way of the Strong.

    You will earn this trophy upon completing 'Resentment Unleashed', which is the third and final main mission available in the region.

  • Journey into The Abyss

     

    Completed the 20th plane in The Abyss.

    The Abyss is a new type of mode introduced with Bloodsheds End. This pits you in to a survival mode of sorts where you start with 4 debuffs. You can either travel to 4 different planes via the boats in front of you to complete these small areas which will each remove a debuff from you, or you can progress straight through the cave and fight a boss to complete the floor. Personally I went straight to the boss on each floor and managed to defeat them all with relative ease, they start out very weak and shouldn't be too difficult depending on your level and equipment. This will also save you a considerable amount of time.

    Each Floor you progress through, will have gradually tougher enemies and bosses to fight as well as worsening debuffs. You can see the 4 debuffs on top of the screen and by pressing to see their effects. When you enter a boss battle you will be inflicted with any 1 of the 4 displayed debuffs at random, most of them aren't much of an issue but sloth and item disable can be troublesome.

  • Cannon Fodder

     

    Destroyed all the destructible cannons in "The Sanada's Resolve."

    During the mission 'The Sanada's Resolve', you will periodically be fired upon by cannons from up on the mountain in certain areas, you must destroy each of these cannons for the trophy. You will need an explosive of any kind, such as a Hand Cannon or Horoku-dama, shoot the red barrels by the cannons to destroy them, one of the barrels requires you to lure an explosive dweller in to blowing it up, there are 5 in total.   • Ornithicide

     

    Defeated the Onmoraki during "Resentment Unleashed."

    During the mission 'Resentment Unleashed' you will encounter a large, bird like Yokai with a yellow horn on it's head called Onmoraki a few times.

    You can get this near the start of the level in the large battlefield area after you meet the two NPC's. Several Yokai will spawn and the Onmoraki will be perched on a wall in this area, simply shoot a few arrows at it which will cause it to fly away and unlock the trophy, you don't have to actually defeat it. There are more opportunities later in the mission but this is the earliest point in which you can do this. See the following video by wiperru:
     

  • The Sinister Arts

     

    Destroyed all the Revenant contraptions on "The Last Samurai."

    During the mission 'The Last Samurai', you will come across some fairly large amrita crystals that spawn horned Yokai. They are easy to find and are all on the main path of the mission but will also be marked on the mini map when you are close to them, like the amrita crystals in some of the main game missions. Upon destroying the final crystal the trophy will unlock.
