Need a Packet tells the story of Molly, a cashier at a local grocery store whose daily routine becomes that of boring and mundane work. Every day she scans the items, minute after minute, hour after hour. As the days progress, she slowly starts to lose her grip on reality as everything around her starts to be more twisted and distorted. Eventually hallucinations and paranoia take over and even the patrons in the store start to become inhuman and alien-like. As soon as she's worked her 30th day, she can take her pay and leave for good. But the real question is, will she make it that long?

There is an autosave feature in the game that happens at the start of each day and at the end of each day. If you make a mistake mid-shift or feel like you can do better, close the game app and when you start it back up, you'll start at the beginning of whatever day you were just on. The walkthrough below takes advantage of this feature, but it is also recommended you use a USB for Step 2, just to be on the safe side (more info on that step below).

Play through the game on Easy and deny at least 15 Packets

Easy mode will be your introduction to the game and instead of lasting 15 days, it'll only last 7. You can't die on this difficulty and there are no hazards or enemies to attack you, so you don't even have to worry about spending any money. Your main goal for this run is to deny packets. You want to move through each day at a steady speed, averaging at least 10 customers each day. At this pace, you should have more than enough packet requests to be able to deny the 15 required for the No Packet trophies and help at least 50 Customers (if you don't reach 50, that's ok, you'll get it in Step 2). Once the NO Packets * 15  trophy unlocks, you can continue to deny them or don't; it doesn't really matter. If you decide not to deny them, you can get a money-related trophy (Money * 30 ) out of the way as well, but that'll unlock during Step 2 anyways, so it's not really important for this Step.

Once you're done with this playthrough, you will have earned the following:

Customers * 50
NO Packets * 10
NO Packets * 15
Casual Ending

If you decided to give out packets after NO Packets * 15 unlocked, there's a chance you'll also get 10 Packets , but if it doesn't unlock on this run, it'll definitely unlock on the next one.

Play through the game on Normal, saving all your money until you reach day 17.09, and giving out no more than 31 Packets

On Normal, you'll now be able to take damage and lose lives (see Deadly polluted city  for more information regarding the enemies and hazards).

Play through Day 15.09 while denying the first two Packet requests of each day. Make sure you don't deny more than two or you'll be penalized and lose money. This will keep your overall Packet count low enough to get the remaining Ending trophies in one go. You'll want to average about 10 customers a day to make sure you're still making decent money as well. On Day 15.09, Dragons will be introduced into the game, so you'll know this is the final day to play before you start exiting/reloading the game. After you complete this day, do the following while on the bus on Day 17.09:

  • Purchase x5 "Home Comfort" (More Furniture) and x15 "Clean City" (Make our city cleaner). This will unlock the trophies related to those purchases. (if you don't want to get the Clean City packets here, you'll get the trophies associated with them naturally in step 2)
  • Exit the game app and start it back up again. You'll be back at the start of Day 17.09.
  • Purchase x3 Defenders (One more defender)

Now play through to Day 27.09 while making sure you don't go over 31 Packets and that you have at least $170 on you (if you have extra, feel free to buy more Defenders if you need). If you've hit 31 prior to this, you can essentially just idle the game to get through the day. Make sure to deny at least two packets before doing this, though, so that you can still make money off the patrons who do not want any Packets.

After the day is over, backup your save file via either the PS Cloud, a USB, or an external HD. This is where you'll get the remaining 4 Ending-related trophies. When you're all backed up, do the following:

  • Start the game. Don't purchase anything from the store. When you have to control the bus to dodge the projectiles, just idle yourself until you've depleted all your lives. This will get cause you to die and get the Death  trophy.
  • Exit the game, reload your save, and start the game back up. Go into the store on the bus and buy enough "Make our city cleaner" to get yourself down to 14 Packets. Complete the game without getting anymore packets and you'll get the Clean ending  trophy.
  • Exit the game, reload your save, and start the game back up. Go into the store on the bus and buy at least one "Make our city cleaner" perks to get your Packet count down to 30. Complete the work day without getting anymore packets and when you're done, you'll get the Polluted ending .
  • Exit the game, reload your save, and start the game back up. Don't purchase anything from the store (unless you need more defenders). Complete the work day and when it's done, you'll earn the Deadly polluted ending  trophy.

This will get you all the remaining trophies, so at the end of this step, you will have earned:

  • Good job! Completed all tasks!

You lived through your final day of work!... or did you? Either way, along with your paycheck, you also earned yourself this Platinum!

  • 10 Packets

    Missable.

    See 30 Packets

  • 2 weeks from the start

    Missable.

This trophy can only be earned when playing on Normal.

The money you earn and Packets you have don't matter for this trophy as you just need to make it to day 15.09 on Normal. For more information on how to survive on this difficulty, please see Deadly polluted city.

  • Deny packets 15 times

    Missable.

This can be earned on Easy or Normal, but it's highly recommended you go for it on Easy. When a patron walks up to your register, you'll automatically ask them "Need a Packet?". Their response will either be some form of "yes" or some form of "no". If they say "yes", to give them a packet, you need to press . To deny them a packet, you need to ignore the packets altogether and ring them up without giving them one. You'll get a citation warning each time and after your 3rd citation, the manager will come in and discipline you by taking a % of your money. Since money is not necessary to complete the game on Easy, it's best to get it done in that mode. You should be able to get this done by about Day 11.09/13.09, depending on how fast you are with checking out the customers.

Once you've denied your 15th packet, the trophy will unlock.

  • Deny packets 10 times

  • 30 Packets

    Missable.

Depending on how quick you are with your patrons, there's a chance you will unlock this while playing on Easy, but it's far more likely to unlock while playing on Normal. These are not cumulative across playthroughs. You must have 30 Packets on you at one time to get the trophy. If you're following the Roadmap and using the save file method, this won't be an issue. If you're doing each ending in it's own playthrough, this will unlock as you go for Deadly pollution ending

To get a Packet, you need to give a Packet. When a customer comes to your register, you'll automatically ask them "Need a Packet?". They'll answer in some form of "yes" or "no". If they say "yes", hit  to give them a Packet. You need to do this at least 30 times (possibly more if you've purchased any "Clean city" packs from the store on the bus) in one run. As soon as you have 30 Packets on you, the trophy will unlock.

  • Defenders * 3

    Missable.

This can only be earned when playing on Normal.

Defenders are available for purchase throughout the game, but they won't really come into play/be needed until you reach Day 15.09. On this day, Dragons will start to appear on your conveyor belt at work. Defenders are needed to fight them off before they hit you. You'll automatically start with 1 (it doesn't count towards this trophy) and you'll need to buy 3 more for this trophy. They can be purchased from the store on the bus and their price ranges from $30-34 per defender. While only 3 are needed for this trophy, it's most likely you'll end up buying more to make it through the last few days of the game, so while this trophy is missable, it's very unlikely you will actually miss it.

As soon as you've purchased your 3rd additional Defender, the trophy will unlock.

  • Defenders * 2

    Missable.

    See Defenders * 3

  • Clean city * 15

    Missable.

This can only be earned when playing on Normal.

Clean City is the "Make our city cleaner" pack that you can purchase from the store on the bus. They cost $10 per pack and will remove one Packet from your "inventory". As such, you'll need at least $150 to get this trophy. If you're following the save file method outlined in the Roadmap, you'll get this as you go for the 4 "Normal" Endings. If you're playing outside of that method, it's highly recommended you wait until Day 29.09 before purchasing these. That way you can ensure you have enough defenders to fight off the Dragons that start to appear on Day 15.09.

As soon as you've purchased your 15th "Clean City" perk, this trophy will unlock.

  • Clean city * 10

    Missable.

    See Clean city * 15

  • Home comfort * 5

    Missable.

This can be earned on Easy or Normal.

The Home Comfort perk is the More Furniture pack that is available for purchase in the store on the bus. They cost $30-$34 per pack. They're not required for any actual gameplay and are purely cosmetic, so the only reason you should be buying them is for this trophy. If you're following the save file method outlined in the Roadmap, you'll get this trophy as you progress towards the 4 "Normal" endings.

If you're not following that method, it's highly recommended you wait until Day 27.09/29.09 to purchase these, that way you can make sure you have enough Defenders to keep you alive during the second half of the game.

Once you've purchased 5 Home Comfort packs, the trophy will unlock.

  • Home comfort * 3

    See Home comfort

  • Customers * 50

    Missable.

  • Customers * 100

    Missable.

This is cumulative across all your playthroughs, so it doesn't matter if you get this on Easy or Normal. Even if you're not using the save file method mentioned in the Roadmap, it's very likely you'll get this trophy before you get all the ending-related trophies.

A customer is counted when you have successfully serviced them. You need to scan their items, take their money, and give out change as needed. When they're done, you'll earn at least $1 (it starts at $1 and will eventually go up as the game progresses). Receiving your earnings will let you know they're done. As long as you're moving through a good pace on your Easy and Normal runs, you should easily be able to get this without going out of your way for it.

Once you've helped your 100th customer, the trophy will unlock.

This trophy can be earned on Easy or Normal, though it's far easier to get on Normal (more customers available). This is not cumulative across playthroughs. You need to have $90 on you at one time for the trophy to unlock. Because of that, do not spend any money until you have this trophy.

You can see your wallet in the top left corner of the screen while you're at work. You earn money by helping your customers. The faster you are, the more customers you'll be able to serve. You need to make sure you're keeping an eye out for their response to "Need a Packet" as well. If they say "No" (in some form or another), just ring up their goods as normal. If they say "yes" (in some form or another), make sure you hit  to give them a Packet. If you don't, you'll deny them a Packet and will be issued a warning. You can deny up to 3 Packets before you manager comes over and disciplines you by taking a % of your money. If this happens too many times, you'll won't be able to get this trophy. If you don't miss their requests, this will unlock around Day 09.09/11.09.

Once you have $90 on you at one time, the trophy will unlock.

Secret trophies

  • This city is dead

    Missable.

This trophy can only be earned when playing on Normal.

To get the Deadly Polluted ending, you need to finish the game with at least 31 Packets. If you're using the save file method outlined in the Roadmap, you want to make sure you get only 31 Packets.

This is the easiest of the endings to get as you can easily get well more than the required Packets as you play through the game. Your biggest struggle for this ending will be staying alive. Unlike Easy difficulty, Normal difficulty adds enemies and projectiles that can damage you. You only have 5 lives (all of which will take about 20 hits to deplete) and if you run out, you'll get game over (and the Death ending).

The biggest change happens while on your way to work (in the bus). When the camera zooms out to show the bus on the road, you'll need to dodge the projectiles, missiles, and lasers coming at you (move the bus with ). The actual work days won't have anything that can damage you until you reach Day 15.09. On this day, Dragons will be introduced into the game that will fly across the conveyor belt. You need to use Defenders to protect yourself from them (you automatically start with one and will need to purchase more from the store on the bus). On Day 27.09, two things will happen: Projectiles will start to fly around the register at work, and your scanner will become a movable object. Using , you need to move the "scanner" around to keep it from getting hit (all while still fending off the Dragons). If the scanner gets hit, you'll take damage, so you need to keep an eye on it as much as possible. From here, you just need to make it through Day 29.09 to finish the game. When you do, and so long as you have at least 31 Packets, you'll get the Deadly Polluted ending and this trophy will unlock.

  • Polluted city

    Missable.

This trophy can only be earned when playing on Normal.

To get the Polluted ending, you need to finish the game with at least 15 Packets, but no more than 30 total. If you're using the save file method outlined in the Roadmap, you want to make sure you get 31 Packets so you can get this ending and Deadly polluted ending on the same save file.

As with the Deadly Polluted and Clean ending, your biggest struggle will be staying alive (please see Deadly polluted ending for more information on the enemies/hazards that appear and how to go about defending yourself against them).

If you're not using the save file method mentioned in the Roadmap, you need to be cautious of how many packets you're giving out. You can deny Packets (don't give the Patron a packet when they ask for one) up to two times before you get penalized. If you deny 3 packets, your manager will come over and take a % of your money. For that reason, you want to aim to deny the first 2 Packets of each work day. This will prevent you from going over 30, but will still ensure you have at least 15. If you go over 30, you can purchase "Make our city cleaner" packs from the store on the bus for $10 each. These will reduce your Packet count by 1 for each one you buy.

As long as you make it through the game and finish Day 29.09 with at least 15 Packets (but no more than 30), you'll get the Polluted city ending and the trophy will unlock.

  • Clean city

    Missable.

This trophy can only be earned when playing on Normal.

To get the Clean city ending, you need to finish the game with no more than 14 Packets. Out of the 3 "Normal Endings" (that require you to finish the game), this is the most difficult. If you're using the save file method outlined in the Roadmap, you want to make sure you get 31 Packets so you can get this ending, the Deadly polluted ending, and the Polluted ending on the same save file.

As with the Deadly Polluted and Polluted ending, your biggest struggle will be staying alive (please see Deadly polluted ending for more information on the enemies/hazards that appear and how to go about defending yourself against them).

If you're not using the save file method mentioned in the Roadmap, you need to be very careful with your Packets and money. The second half of the game (where the Dragons are introduced) will be difficult to get through if you don't have at least 4 Defenders on the conveyor belt. Because of that, you want to make sure you're not denying anymore than 2 Packets each work day. If you deny 3, your manager will pop in a take a % of your money as a penalty, so you need to be careful. Denying two a day won't keep you under 14 Packets, but it will make sure you're still getting enough money to finish the game and get this trophy. To get your packet count down, you can buy "Make our city cleaner" packs from the store in the bus. One pack will remove one packet, so you need to make sure you have enough money at the start of Day 29.09 to buy enough packs to get you to 14 or lower. As long as you're moving at a good pace through the game, you should have more than enough money to buy the City Cleaner packs as well as the Defenders needed to protect yourself in the end game days.

As long as you make it through the game and finish Day 29.09 with no more than 14 Packets, you'll get the Clean City ending and this trophy will unlock.

  • Death

    Missable.

This trophy can only be earned when playing on Normal.

You start off with a full HP bar and 5 lives. When your HP bar is depleted, you'll lose a life. You need to exhaust all 5 lives to get the trophy.

This can be done at any time, but the later in the game you get it, the quicker your death will be. There are a few ways you can get killed:

    • Idle the game when you're driving the bus and let all the projectiles hit you
    • Don't defend yourself at all against the Dragons (starting on Day 15.09) and by the time you reach the final days, you'll be well low enough to die
    • Allow the projectiles flying around the conveyor belt on Days 27.09 and 29.09 to hit the scanner as much as possible
    • A mix of all of the above

If you want to idle the game on Day 01.09, it'll take about 10 minutes to get hit by enough projectiles to die, so it's highly recommended you do this later in the game. If you're using the save file method outlined in the Roadmap, you'll get this on Day 29.09. Depending on how much damage you've already taken at that point, it should only take a couple of minutes to die.

Once your final life has been depleted, you'll get the "You died" screen and the trophy will unlock.

  • Casual ending

This trophy can only be earned when playing on Easy.

Easy difficulty is basically your introduction to the basics of the game, just missing everything that can kill you. It's impossible to die in this mode, so you won't be able to get Death on this difficulty. You also will only be playing through 7 Days instead of the 15 required on Normal. There are no Packet or Money requirements, so you're free to play as you wish (you can honestly even just idle each day if you want). However, it's highly recommended you go for the two NO Packets trophies in this mode. Every 3 Packets you deny each work day will result in your manager coming over and taking money from you. Since money is much, much more important on Normal (and absolutely useless on Easy), you can deny all the Packets everyday until those two trophies pop, killing 3 birds with 1 stone.

After you finish, you'll get Member of the Month and the trophy will unlock.
