How to unlock King of the Hill

There are 20 required challenges in Nascar Heat 4, and they can be found at the main menu. Most of them require you to relive past races and recreate what the drivers did to win them. For the most part, these are easy and straightforward. None of them require setups like Nascar Heat 3 and they are no where near as difficult as older games. I took notes on some of them so I will list them below. I used 30% stability and 100% steering help, with all other assists turned down to 0%.

    • #3 In it to Win It: Gragson is way out front like the challenge suggests, and you will need to run good lap times to catch him. With 100% steering help, you can run wide open in the corners without losing time. Try to run a high line and don’t hit the wall. It took me two tries and I caught him on the very last corner to pass this.

    • #4 Gassed: The most frustrating challenge in the game. You have four laps to conserve fuel and hold off a hard charging pack. For this one I really cannot provide any advice, I’m sorry. It took me 20-25 attempts and it seemed like it was luck based when I finally did get it. Here’s what I did on my successful run: Turn off steering help and set stability to 100%. Now gun it as hard as possible for the first two laps. After that, try mashing the throttle any time your car sputters. Every single time I did this I had different results, and eventually I was able to maintain speed for the entire third lap. In the fourth lap, keep mashing if you lose fuel pressure and block as best as you can. I was able to throw a huge block on the field coming out of turn 4 to win the challenge. I wish I could provide more advice, so if you have some tips to share feel free to post in the forums and I will give you credit.

    • #7 Stay in the Draft: I beat this first try, but make sure you pay attention to what the challenge says. You absolutely must draft someone the entire time, as I did so and barely beat it myself.

    • #8 Monster Momentum: This was the last of the slightly difficult challenges. First off, you may want to increase your stability under the pause menu to control the car better. Other than that, don't be afraid to play dirty. There is no penalty for wrecking someone and blocking is very effective in this game. Hold off all the hard chargers to complete this challenge.

    • #12 Pit Gamble: I beat this first try by completing one lap and then pitting. Make sure not to speed, and take four tires on your stop. With the four fresh Goodyears, I was able to rocket through the field and win.

    • #15 Back of the Pack, Jack: For me, the tires blew on the front stretch of lap 1, 3rd turn of lap 1, and the backstretch between turns 2 and 3 on lap 2. It took me a few tries because I got caught up in wrecks. Avoid this incidents as best as you can and you will catch 1st with ease.

    • #17 Carousel Catch Up: This one takes you through the new Sonoma layout, which is virtually the only track change in the game. While it isn’t a difficult challenge, you may need to increase your stability assist to prevent spinning out.

    • Bonus! #21 Wreck Fest: This is not needed for the trophy! However this was both the hardest and my favourite challenge in the game. I recommend playing it a few times as it is very fun trying to dodge all of the wrecks. You must not get hit whatsoever to catch 1st place by the end of the lap. This was a free DLC challenge so I recommend giving it a few tries for fun after you’ve beaten the challenges.

  • Easiest way I found Monster Momentum was set driving assists to easy and hog that inside line. Don't brake, throttle down all day. Once I changed I got it in about four attempts. DO NOT LET THEM GET UP YOUR INSIDE!
  • For challenge #4 change the transmission to MANUAL the only thing making the car spin is the automatic transmission trying to change into to 3rd gear to make the car go faster. If you leave it in 4th gear you won't spin and the car won't sputter, in fact I could keep up with the cars in front right to the finish line.
  • I completed the 20 challenges plus four dlc challenges and it still didn't give me the trophy. It's the only one I'm missing.
