Introduction:

Moss is a critically acclaimed PSVR game, one of the best and cutest games on this platform, but is unfortunately way too short. This also means that the Platinum is pretty quick to obtain, which is a good thing for trophy hunters, but not that easy as there is a trophy for completing the game without dying. Don’t be afraid, the game is pretty simple and you can always quit and reload before dying, or even back up your save here and there just to be on the safe side. The other trophies are story related, collecting all Scrolls and Relic Dust and other miscellaneous trophies. The collectibles aren’t that bad to find but sometimes you’ll have to move around and explore the area as they can be hidden behind a wall or something and you’ll see them only when moving your head around. There is also a chapter selection to help clean them up.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Complete the game + Collectibles

First things first, it is totally possible to get this Platinum in one run, but you’ll have to be careful and make sure to pause the game and reload the last checkpoint before dying. If you already died it’s too late and the no death trophy will be void for this playthrough. You could also back up your save here and there if you want to. Getting the collectibles while going for a no death run isn’t really difficult either, so feel free to do it in one run if you want to. The game is pretty short anyway and can be completed in 1 hour, so it might be best to play it a first time and getting all collectibles, so you’ll be more prepared for your no death run, even though it isn’t very difficult.

You can also leave the collectibles for later but while there is a chapter selection, sometimes you’ll have to replay a longer portion of the game to reach the screen where you missed some. Make sure to explore everywhere and look all corners every time you reach a new screen to look for scrolls. And break everything you can to find Relic Dust.

In this step, you will unlock:
The First Trial
Tools of the Enemy
Thank you.
An Arcane Key
The Clearing
The Impassable Mire
The Mire Temple
Namelhook Mining Co.
The Abandoned City
The Ascent
An Unlikely Hero
A Promising Beginning

Step 2: Clean-up misc trophies + Collectibles

Use the chapter selection to clean up any trophy or collectible you might have missed on your first playthrough. The no death trophy requires a fresh new save, and collectibles don’t stack between save files.

In this step, you will unlock:
A Fragment of Fate
The Author's Plan
Dust Collector I
Dust Collector II
What Remains of Power
Battle for Control
I'm not scared!
Nice work, friend!
Don't Pet the Animals
Idiurus Macrotis
Creative Cliffhanger
Clever Shooting
A Forged Maestro
Pub Smash!
Ghostface Crushah
Hedge Knight
Thorn in Our Side
A Sacred Oath

Step 3: No death run

Now it’s time to complete the game without dying. It’s pretty short and can be completed in 1 hour, and it isn’t very difficult as long as you’re being careful. You can pause and reload the last checkpoint when you’re about to die but make sure to do it before actually dying. You can also quit to the XMB before the screen goes totally black but some people have reported that method not working anymore with the latest patches. Finally you can back up your save on cloud or USB every time you reach a new screen if you want to.

The major danger is the final boss, you’ll have to be quick as he can catch you and kill you in one hit, and you’ll have to be careful not to fall off the platforms. Otherwise there aren’t much enemy encounters and it’s pretty easy to deal with them, just make sure to dodge when they’re about to attack.

In this step, you will unlock:
Protector of the Realm
Together We're Twofold

  • Collect all other Moss Trophies

Earn all the other trophies to unlock the Platinum, as always!

  • Discover your first forgotten fragment.

    See The Author's Plan .

  • Collect all of the forgotten fragments.

There are 31 forgotten fragments to collect in the game, they look like scrolls and you simply have to walk to them for Quill to take them. Most of them are easy to find but some are in hidden areas, so it’s best to stand up and move around to explore the area every time you enter a new screen. Some will also require you to complete little puzzles to be able to access their areas.

If you miss some fragments, you can replay chapters, but they all need to be collected on the same save file. You’ll see how many fragments you have in each chapter so you can see in which chapters you’re missing some.

  • Collect a small amount of Relic Dust.

See What Remains of Power .

  • Collect a large amount of Relic Dust.

See What Remains of Power .

  • Collect all of the Relic Dust.

Relic Dust is the second type of collectibles in the game, they look like pink/blue particles and you need to collect them all. There are 375 Relic Dusts. You’ll find these when breaking objects, vases, crates, barrels, etc using to break them with Quill or using , , or to break them with your powers.

Every time you enter a new screen, it’s best to fully explore the area, walk around and break everything you see. If you miss some of them, you can replay chapters, but they all need to be collected on the same save file. You’ll see how many relic dusts you have in each chapter so you can see in which chapters you’re missing some.

  • Defeat the Screechers first encountered in the Mire.

Story related and cannot be missed.

Soon after starting the game, you’ll encounter some enemies for the first time. Killing them all will unlock this trophy.

  • Take control over many Forged enemies.

You can take control of enemies using your powers with , , or while pointing at them. This trophy will unlock after you take control of 20 different enemies.

  • Use a Screecher to unlock the path forward.

Story related and cannot be missed.

You’ll get this trophy after completing the first puzzle that requires taking control of an enemy to activate a switch. You need to take control of the bug and lead it on the switch, then you can release the button, the enemy will just stay there. This will open the door so Quill can move on to the next screen.

  • Startle Quill from behind.

First you need to place Quill so her back is facing you. Then you need to move your head very close to her and behind her, she will eventually turn around and point at you, unlocking the trophy.

  • Annoy Quill by delaying the adventure.

Use your powers on Quill to grab her with , , or and move like you were petting her, she will eventually scratch her head and be annoyed, unlocking the trophy.

  • Destroy a Forged enemy with an aerial attack.

To perform an aerial attack you need to jump with then attack with while you’re in the air. This will do more damage but will probably not kill your enemies in one hit, so you first need to hit an enemy 1 or 2 times, and then do the aerial attack to finish him.

  • Destroy a Forged enemy with a controlled Scorcher.

Scorchers are the yellow enemies that shoot fireballs. You need to control one of them with , , or and then use to shoot the fireballs. Aim at another enemy and kill it to unlock the trophy.

  • Destroy two or more forged enemies with a controlled Ticker

Tickers are the green enemies with the big green gas tank on their back. The Tickers will explode when you walk close to them with Quill or just after you controlled them and release the button. But an explosion won’t kill other enemies in one hit so for this trophy you need to control a Ticker, and hit the other enemies with Quill 3 times (4 hits kill them). Then you need to walk around the Ticker until the enemies are close to it, and release your powers so it explodes and kills them.

There are only 2 encounters where you can do this trophy though. In Namelhook Mining at the cave entrance and in the Abandoned Town.

The latter is probably the easiest opportunity as the area is bigger so you have more space to walk around. There will be 1 ticker, 2 Scorchers (yellow) and 2 Screechers (red). Kill the Scorchers so they don’t shoot at you but they might reappear if you don’t kill the other enemies, if that’s the case then try to kill only one of them and avoid the other one. Take control of the Ticker and hit the Screechers 3 times each, then lure them towards the Tickers and release your powers.

  • Break everything within the town pub that can be broken.

When you reach the Abandoned Town and look for some objects to unlock the door, you’ll eventually reach a pub. You need to break everything that you can in this pub so make sure to walk around hitting and don’t leave this area until you unlock the trophy.

  • Use your power as a Reader to break many objects.

When using your powers with , , or on breakable objects, this will break them. Do that with 20 different objects to unlock this trophy.

  • Use Quill's sword to cut down a lot of grass.

You’ll see some grass at the start of the game and later in some chapters that you can cut with Quill’s sword. You should try and break/cut everything you see for the collectibles anyway, so everytime you see some grass make sure to cut it with .

  • Guide Quill to destroy multiple thorn patches.

In later chapters, you’ll see some thorn patches that can hurt Quill. You can also destroy them with the sword so make sure to do that every time you see some thorns and the trophy will pop after destroying 20 of them.

  • Finish the first book of Moss.

Story related and cannot be missed.

This trophy will unlock after rescuing your friend and finishing the game.

Secret trophies

  • Give Quill a High Five.

There are 2 opportunities to give Quill a high five. The first one is after solving the puzzle in the Mire Temple and the second one is after taking the elevator in the Namelhook Mine. Quill will stand there and wait with her hands up, you need to point your orb at her hand and she’ll give you a high five, unlocking this trophy.

  • Find a low hanging path to the town pub.

This trophy needs to be done in the Abandoned Town chapter, in the area before reaching the pub.

First, grab the block on the left with your powers and move it to the right. Grab the gate on the right and move it down. Now jump inside the platform with Quill and hit the switch. Then jump on to the left to reach the lever and pull it. This will release a Scorcher. Go back to the platform but this time jump on it, and let Quill hanging on it. Control the Scorcher and hit the switch 2 times to reach the other side and unlock the trophy.

  • Rescue Argus without a single death.

    Missable

This trophy will require you to finish the whole game without dying once. Fortunately, it is very short and pretty easy, but you still need to be careful.

You die after getting hit 3 times by enemies (you can heal Quill with your powers though). You die when falling off platforms. You can also die if the last boss grabs you or if the surveillance eyes hit you in one of the last chapters.

If you die at any point, you won’t get the trophy. But the good thing is that you can pause and reload the last checkpoint when you’re about to die. Also you can quit to the XMB before the screen goes completely black, but some people have reported that this method doesn’t work anymore with the latest updates. So basically it’s best to restart or quit the game before dying. If you wait after the death, it’s too late. You can also back up your save at the beginning of each scene to “save” your progress.

During encounters, make sure to dodge when enemies are about to attack, also make sure to heal Quill whenever the screen turns red. This isn’t very difficult but enemies can kill you in 3 hits and if you don’t pay attention it can happens really fast. Make sure to watch enemies movements as you’ll know when they’re about to attack. Also try and grab them with your powers to use them to your advantage.

The Sarrfogg’s fight is probably the hardest part of the game as this enemy will kill you in one hit. For the first two scenes you need to make your way to the end of the screen as fast as possible as it will chase you. For the next scenes, you need to time your movements as the boss will shoot fireballs at you, you’ll see the ground going red/orange when he’s about to shoot.

Every time Quill gets hit by an enemy or a thorn or whatever, you can use your power on her to heal her with , , or . This trophy is unmissable as during the Mire chapter, Quill will eventually get hit by thorns and you’ll have to heal her to continue.

  • Defeat the Serpent Sarrfogg.

Sarrfogg is the last boss and is a giant snake that can kill you in one hit. He also shoots fireballs that can kill you in one hit. The only way to defeat hit is to shoot with the giant crossbows you see in the different scenes.
