Introduction:

Metro Exodus is a FPS video game released in 2019. It is the third instalment in the Metro world, following Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light. Metro will have you shooting, scavenging materials, crafting items and weapons in order to survive the harsh post apocalyptic world. Much like the first two games, the enemies will range from humans to the unspeakable demons and mutants that roam the cities.

Trophy wise, the game holds the usual weapon related kills, enemy type kills and collectibles, as well as chapter specific events and the good/bad endings. There is difficulty related trophies too. A standard metro list that won't cause to much trouble.

General Tips and information:
  • Gameplay is fairly sluggish, the aiming isn't great and the mechanics are generally lacking. However, it's much better than when it was first released and you will get used to it in no time.
  • Exodus introduces some 'free roam' chapters. A welcome addition to the linear standard from the first two.
  • Fall damage is horrendous, because you will die after falling just a couple of feet which is very frustrating so be careful and don't sprint downhill
  • The Loading screens are long and all scenes are non skipable.
  • In the desert chapter, you get a car but it handles poorly, can get stuck (causing a reload) and the glare from the sun through the windshield makes it a chore to drive.
  • Luckily, you can farm the kill related trophies via a quick save - kill - reload save scenario which helps massively
  • Collectibles can be done via chapter select if any are missed or carried over to NG+.
  • On any difficulty above Reader, fire is pretty much an instant death. Avoid your own Molotovs and camp fires.
  • You can use your bag to craft ammo and Medkits away from the work benches by pressing + .
  • As mentioned above you can use your bag to craft certain items. However grenades, Molotov's, changing weapons and armour upgrades can only be done at a craft station.
  • Craft stations can be found in safe houses across the maps and on the train.
  • Be careful with your resources. On Reader difficulty it's not an issue but on the higher tiers you can find yourself in trouble during longer missions by running out of ammo or Medkits so use and plan wisely.
  • Dismantle every weapon you find. These will give you ammo, resources and attachment unlocks for your weapons.
  • Environment slows you down. Whether it be tall grass, snow, walking up hill or spiders webs. Keep this is mind when moving (like previous games, deal with those pesky webs by using the lighter by holding + .

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Play through on Reader difficulty. Getting all collectibles and chapter specific trophies. Aim for the Good ending

Play through on the easiest difficulty to learn the game. Concentrate on the collectibles, there’s 105 scattered across the game (any missed can be picked up via chapter select). Have a good read of the guide and get all the chapter specific requirements down so you don’t miss them. Some of these come way later in certain chapters so will require a chunky replay. Check out the requirements for the good ending too, there are 4 trophies related to gain this and is highly missable which will require a full play through.

Upon completing this step you will have earned the following trophies:

Brakeman
Exodus
Aurora
Regatta
Railwayman
Friend of the Crew
Long Distance Passenger
Fisherman
Duke
Lower the Bridge
Spoiled Dinner
Driver
Roller Coaster
All Road Map
Damir
New Order
Gor'ko!
Decommunization
Master of the Forest
5 0'Clock
Forest Child
Alyosha
Sword of Damocles
Putrification
Guide
Full Strength
Your Destination
Professional
Gunsmith
Dressed for Success
Martian
Librarian
Old World Pictures

Step 2: Play the second play through on Ranger Hardcore with the bad ending or use the exploit to get both

If you didn’t play the first run on Ranger Hardcore (totally up to you) then now is the time for the second play through of the game. You will also need to get the opposite ending to what you did in the first run. You can also tie this in with NG+, which will make Ranger Hardcore slightly easier with weapons and armour access or you can use the exploit to revert back to version 1.0 and chapter jump to the finale. This will also get you the Bad ending and Mutation (see the New Game + DLC).

Upon completing this step you will have earned the following trophies:

Hardcore
Eternal Voyage

Step 3: Clean up

If needed, now is the time to chapter select and get all your kills, weapon kills, car kills and anything else you've missed. You can farm kills by using checkpoints and reloading them.

Upon completing this step you will have earned the following trophies:

Righteous Vengeance
Carmoheddon
Tidyman
Handyman
Last Breath
Antibiotic
Sniper
Silent Marksman
Robin Hood
Headhunter
Saboteur
Kaleidoscope
Firebird

 New Game+ Roadmap

Overview:
  • Estimated trophy difficulty: 4/10 (personal opinion)
  • Offline trophies: 3 (3(B))
  • Online trophies: 0
  • Approximate amount of time to 100%: 10-15hrs (personal opinion)
  • Minimum number of playthroughs: 1
  • Number of missable trophies: None - Toy Seller (B) can be obtained via Chapter Select if any are missed.
  • Glitched trophies: None
  • Does difficulty affect trophies?: No, Iron Mode can be done on Reader difficulty.
  • Do trophies stack?: Yes
  • Do cheat codes disable trophies?: No cheats available.
  • Additional peripherals required?: No

Introduction:

It seems to be a running theme with games recently to add NG+. Metro have done this with a bit of a twist. Along with bringing over your upgrades and weapons, you can select a range of modifications. These can enhance the difficultly with harder enemies, limited use of work benches or the big one 'Iron Mode'. You will have to play this on Iron Mode which will count as a modification. You can play this on Reader to make it easier. There are only three collectibles in this DLC, all with multiple locations during their respective Chapter which can be collected via Chapter Select.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Complete NG+ with Iron Mode enabled

If tied in to the main game this will be your second play through via NG+ selection. I recommend doing Iron Mode on reader as you can not save during missions and playing on normal or above will cause some cheap frustrating deaths causing a complete replay of chapters with unskippable cutscenes. With that in mind, this might be a third run or a second after using the exploit - depending on how you've tackled the game. Either way, complete the game on NG+ with Iron Mode selected (which counts as a modification). There are plenty of modifications to choose from so feel free to add others. Do not miss the collectibles, which are located on the 3 big open area chapters in various locations.

Upon completing this step you will have earned the following trophies:

Toy Seller (B)
Mutation (B)
Iron Mode (B)

The Two Colonels Roadmap

Overview:
  • Estimated trophy difficulty: 4/10 (personal opinion)
  • Offline trophies: 8 (7(B) 1(G))
  • Online trophies: 0
  • Approximate amount of time to 100%: 5hrs (personal opinion)
  • Minimum number of playthroughs: 2
  • Number of missable trophies: 4 - The whole picture (B), Mind you, it's quite heavy! (B), It's just a scratch (B) and Dodge master (B)(H). These are listed as missable because you will have to replay the entire DLC in order to meet the requirements, although some will be quicker than others.
  • Glitched trophies: None
  • Does difficulty affect trophies?: Yes, It's just a scratch (B) must be done on Normal
  • Do trophies stack?: No
  • Do cheat codes disable trophies?: No cheats available.
  • Additional peripherals required?: No

Introduction:

Metro Exodus' first DLC as part of the season part brings the story of young Kirill and his father before the events in Exodus. The events takes place in the Novosibirsk Metro before the arrival of the Aurora Crew and follows the story of Colonel Khlebnikov. The story provides more details about the fall of Novosibirsk. This DLC brings the player back to the style of the original games. The Story DLCs are a great addition to the game and the ending brings it together with the main game in an an awesome touching way. Well worth the Season Pass.

How to play the DLC: You can play the DLC chapter at any point, it is right at the top of the list in the 'chapter select' section. It will carry over whichever difficulty you have been playing the main game in so keep that in mind when doing your Normal difficulty or above playthrough.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Complete the DLC on any difficulty

Play through the chapter and enjoy. Just have fun with this one, look around and go for the collectibles too. Use the new flamethrower to melee kill the required beasts when the time comes.

Upon completing this step you will have earned the following trophies:

New Year (B)
Duty and conscience (B)
Father and son (B)
Real Colonel (G)
The whole picture (B)
Mind you, it's quite heavy (B)

Step 2: Play the DLC on Normal difficulty

Play on normal mode, avoiding thrown objects and with out using any Medkits so save often. Go into the last stage with as much health as possible. Since you have already played through once, you will have a good grasp on the level and were you need to be cautious.

Upon completing this step you will have earned the following trophies:

Dodge Master (B)(H)
It's just a scratch (B)

Sam's Story Roadmap

Overview:
  • Estimated trophy difficulty: 4/10 (personal opinion)
  • Offline trophies: 8 (1 (G), 7 (B))
  • Online trophies: 0
  • Approximate amount of time to 100%: 10hrs (personal opinion)
  • Minimum number of playthroughs: 1 but 2 are recommended
  • Number of missable trophies: 7 - A Man Of Principle (G) and Untouchable (B) are highly missable and will require a full play through. Cinephile (B) and Trapper (B) will require a small replay of the chapter. Great Owl (B) and Music Lover (B) will carry over but you will still need to replay up to the missed items. Lord of war (B) weapon upgrades do not carry over so any missed will require a fresh playthrough.
  • Glitched trophies: 4- A Man of Principle (G) , Untouchable (B) , Great Owl (B) and The Last Hero (B)
  • Does difficulty affect trophies?: Yes, you must play on normal
  • Do trophies stack?: Yes A Man of Principle will also unlock The Last Hero
  • Do cheat codes disable trophies?: No cheats available.
  • Additional peripherals required?: No

Introduction:

Sam's Story takes place after the main game and continues to follow Sam's solo journey to find his homeland. It is set in one of the more open world feel chapters. It gives more character interaction and the chapter is fun, however it is extremely clunky and frustrating to play at times. This has a standard trophy list for a Metro game i.e. collectibles, upgrades and boss battle requirements.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Play the chapter on Reader, collect all misc and collectible trophies and get the good ending

If you haven't played metro for a while, I recommend playing on Reader just to get the feel back for the game as it is very sluggish. Explore everywhere and collect all melodies/stashes and misc trophies. Stashes alone will also net you the weapon upgrades so it's a nice two in one. Read up on the captains trust too (including Trapper (B)) it’s highly missable and will require a full play through. Save often and enjoy the chapter.

Upon completing this step you will have earned the following trophies:

Cinephile (B)
Trapper (B)
The Last Hero (B)
A Man of Principle (G)
Great Owl (B)
Music Lover (B)
Lord of war (B)

Step 2: Complete the chapter on Normal or above difficulty

You need to beat all 3 batwing encounters without dying. Reloading, closing down the game or anything else along those lines will not work so if you die once, the trophy is void - thus making this trophy a real pain. Check when each encounter is and upload your save first before starting it. You will have a good idea on how these fights work from Step 1 and how to approach them.

Upon completing this step you will have earned the following trophy:

Untouchable (B)

PS4 and PS5 Buggy Trophies

Untouchable (B) is buggy on the PS5 version, even if all requirements are met without any dying, reloads or replaying of the DLC. The cause for this is not known and no fix is being talked about. Check out the forum located here: LINK

There is unfortunately a wide spread glitch/bug that causes either The Last Hero (B) or A Man of Principle (G)  to lock out and become unattainable no matter how many times you earn the requirements. The cause is unknown and the devs are seemingly not budging to fix the issue. This happens mainly on the PS5 release but has happened on the PS4 version too. The only way to get around the issue is to do a factory reset of the console and earn the trophies offline. Deleting the game, save data, caches or dropping down to version 1.0v will not work. There is a very in depth forum thread about the issues located here: LINK

There are also some reports of Great Owl (B) being buggy too. With the factory reset method also being the only work around at the moment. Link to the forum thread here: LINK

OSU_BUCKS_2LAZ has broken the forum work around as follows:

'The only confirmed solution that has been found to work by multiple players in this thread is to reset the PS5 to factory settings full wipe (before you do back up everything: saves/media to cloud or USB, games to HDD). Once console has been reset the only thing you should do is sync your PSN account but don't go to trophies (don't sync trophies). If you own the digital version or via PS4 upgrade you will need to download the whole game again otherwise install via disc (pretty sure the PS5 version is still just 1.0 so no update needed). If you moved the game to a HDD you might need an internet connection while trying to move it to your console. Once you've done these steps turn off the connection to the internet on the console and play Sam's story for these two trophies. Play on a fresh save, don't download or move from USB. You will have an empty trophy list which is fine / might be how it works to obtain these two trophies. Now hopefully, if you do the good ending correctly you will get A Man of Principle along with The Last Hero trophies. You will unlock a couple other trophies that you already have which is fine because when you go to sync trophies once you restore connection the timestamps are always overwritten if there is one previous to what is being synced.'

This is a very long winded and complicated work around but it does work. It's not ideal but could be the only answer to achieving 100%.

How to do the Factory Reset Method
  1. Delete your save from the cloud (Make sure all other trophies have been achieved first) NOTE: This is probably not needed if you turn auto sync off after full reset.
  2. Synchronize trophies just in case.
  3. Perform a full factory reset. NOTE: This will delete all games and saves. Either transfer to an external HDD or upload to cloud.
  4. Set up the console with your account.
  5. Download the main game with Sam DLC only.
  6. Once downloaded, turn off your internet connection and play the DLC.
  7. After getting the missing trophies, turn the internet back on and synchronize. NOTE: With the internet off, it will show 0% on all trophies and you may even earn some main game ones. This is ok. During the synchronization all previously earned trophies will show up again.

Video Guide - Credit to 360GAMETV
  • Complete the VOLGA level.

Story related and can't be missed

After collecting your new passenger train car and bringing it back to your locomotive. You will set off for the last mission of Chapter 3 via some boats you'll have to acquire. Before capturing these boats make sure to craft enough ammo and Medkits to last you. This is the first major chapter for the good ending. See Your Destination for more details. It's recommended to use stealth for the last section and try to only knock out the enemies who are in your way. Simple progress through until the cutscene starts.
  • Complete the YAMANTAU level.

Chapter 5: YAMANTAU, happens shortly after VOLGA and is a linear Chapter. In this Chapter you'll need to survive capture and escape. The enemies in this level are very weak and easy to deal with.

Note: You can only get the Righteous Vengeance trophy during this Chapter.
  • Drive the Bukhanka.

Story related and can't be missed

At the start of Chapter 6: Caspian, you will acquire the keys for the car from a bandit and you will have to deal with a couple of mutants. The trophy will pop once you unlock the door.

Note: You can only get the Carmahedden trophy during this Chapter, by driving the Bukhanka.
  • Use the bucket lift on the CASPIAN level to reach the Oasis.

Attention - Although not missable, you will have to use Chapter select and replay a fair amount to get to this stage.

During the Caspian Chapter you will get a side mission to collect some water for the gang. Once you enter the cave with the camp, you will see buckets going into the Oasis so go back up and drop off the water at the top of the cave. You need to sneak around and grab onto one, to head up into the main part of the camp.

Video Guide - Credit to 360GAMETV
  • Find the maps in the Labaratory.

During Chapter 6: CASPIAN, you will be tasked with saving a woman who is offering to help the group. After reaching the women in her lighthouse and saving her she will tell you about some maps underground in a laboratory. Retrieve them for the trophy. The laboratory is full of spiders so use your flashlight and lighter to deal with these
  • Complete the CASPIAN level.

Story related and can't be missed

Finish Chapter 6: CASPIAN. It's the second open world level available in the game, with loads to do and explore. Just follow the missions (a white X on the map) until you have to take on the Baron and free the slaves, That is the point of no return so make sure you load up accordingly. Complete that mission until the cutscene hits in.

Note: This is the second main Chapter for the good ending. See Your Destination for more details.
  • Attend the wedding on the SUMMER level.

Story related and can't be missed

During Chapter 7: SUMMER you will be called down to the living area for celebrations. Watch the scene unfold, then the trophy will pop.
  • Destroy the biggest statue in front of the children's camp on the TAIGA level.

At the very start of the Chapter, once you have picked up the bow from the statue. You'll soon come across your first Children of the Forest campsite shortly after crossing the bridge to the right. Destroy the statue by either shooting an arrow at it or meleeing it a few times.

Video Guide - Credit to 360GAMETV
  • Stand your ground against the Bear at first encounter.

Attention - Although not missable, you will have to use Chapter select and replay a fair amount to get to this stage.

This will happen during the TAIGA Chapter. As you approach the church you will get attacked by the mutated bear. It acts like a pre-mini boss battle. Be prepared before hand, stock up on Molotov's and Medkits. You can not win this fight but you can run away from it, though for this trophy you have to stay put. Throwing Molotovs and running away until they wear out is a solid method. Shoot the bears head a few times once it's on fire.

Once the bear runs away, the trophy will pop.
  • Take part in the Admiral's tea party on the TAIGA level.

Attention - Although not missable, you will have to use Chapter select and replay a fair amount to get to this stage.

During the story, towards the end of the TAIGA chapter you will enter a strange situation. Once you've escaped the last pirates outpost you will have to charge up an elevator that will take you to the admirals room. You can ignore him and continue on but for this trophy you need to sit down and have tea with him and his guests. Once he falls asleep the trophy will pop.
  • Complete the TAIGA level without attacking anyone or getting noticed.

Attention - Although not missable, you will have to use Chapter select and replay a fair amount to get to this stage.

Mutants don't count towards this trophy, nor do the cutscenes including humans that you see during the level (bridge, trap, your bag, church). This sounds harder than it is and may hinder some collectibles during the Chapter but don't panic. You can always save, get the collectible and either reload if you are seen or use Chapter Select.

Always use Quick Save, take your time and move your way through the level. There are a few options on how to navigate your way through each camp area. The trophy will pop right at the end of the chapter. The last camp with human enemies will be way before this. Once you escape the last camp on the boat you're all clear. This is a great trophy to tie in with the good ending run as this is the third trophy event in regards to it. See Full Strength for more info.
  • Complete the TAIGA level.

Story related and can't be missed

Chapter 8: TAIGA will end shortly after the second fight with the bear. It works similar to the first battle (see Master of the Forest). There are a few Molotovs lying around in case you didn't craft any so throw, shoot, run and repeat.
  • Pass the putrid tunnel.

Story related and can't be missed

The putrid tunnel is during Chapter 10: Dead City. You'll enter a boat during the chapter and find yourself going down a flooded tunnel. You will have to deal with a couple of mutated worms in the water but once you're clear of them the trophy will pop.
  • Pass the Research Facility without killing a Blind One on the DEAD CITY level.

Attention - Although not missable, you will have to use Chapter Select and play most of the level.

Blind Ones are located at the very end of the last Chapter 'DEAD CITY'. They are large mutated gorillas that can't see but they can locate you by sound and smell easily enough. The key here is to move past them slowly, use cans to distract them and most importantly do not engage with them at all. Alternatively, you can just run past them and use Medkits if you need to but doing so will make the interactive part of the Chapter difficult whilst they attack you.

Video Guide - Credit to 360GAMETV
  • Complete the game in Ranger Hardcore mode.

First of all, there are two exploits that can be used in order to unlock Ranger Hardcore by starting the game, coming out into the main menu and using chapter select to play the Finale.

    - After the first autosave, quit to main menu
    - Use Chapter Select and choose "Finale" (which can take up to 20 minutes is 'downloading content' displayed in the bottom right) then once the Chapter plays out (its all cutscenes) Eternal Voyage, Hardcore and Mutation will all unlock.

Thanks pfnorzli for posting that it works as of v1.07. Check out the thread here: LINK

Exploit two: No deleting or reinstalling the game

Not sure how or if this works but check out the thread below for information on this new found method and the possibility to unlock Iron mode and ng+ alongside Ranger Hardcore

Thanks Delameko for this information. Check out the thread here: Link

    Going legit Tips and information:
    • Ammo and resources scarce - Pick your battles carefully, if you can avoid open world enemies then do so and if you can stealth move past others than definitely do so to preserve both.
    • You'll take more damage from enemy attacks - A bit obvious but even the jump from Reader to Normal is heavily noticeable so really try and stay in cover as best you can.
    • The Quick Save feature is disabled - This will make the good run a lot harder, I would recommend doing the bad ending here just in case you make a mistake. However there are still checkpoints.
    • No HUD - Annoying at best but nothing major.
  • Make at least one kill with every ranged weapon.

"Ranged weapon" refers to every gun in the game, including the Crossbow. There are 10 in total scattered at various points in the game. All you have to do is pick up the weapon once and it will enter your inventory for good.

Shambler - This is the first weapon that you'll use in the game right at the very start of Moscow.

Kalash - Very common. You will first encounter this weapon during Moscow, by looting it from enemies.

Revolver - Available throughout the whole game. You will first encounter the revolver during Moscow. It is given to you as part of the story.

Tikhar - The Takarev will give you this weapon during VOLGA as part of the story. This will be your first special weapon that can be equipped by holding .

Bastard - This weapon is used by bandits/cultist during VOLGA. Loot them to find it.

Gatling Gun - There are a few locations for this during the YAMANTAU Chapter. You'll encounter a mini boss towards the end of the mission. The Slaver will be in heavy armour carrying the Gatling gun, you can either take his from his cold dead hands or pick one up in the same room at the back on a wall mounted weapon rack. There is also one located near the air traffic control tower, in the last hanger on the right.

Bulldog - You can only find the Bulldog during CASPIAN. During the mission to save Giul, one of the bandits during the lead up to her lighthouse will have it. Loot all bodies once you have killed them.

Ashot - Can be found during CASPIAN and randomly afterwards too. There is also one on a table inside the boat where the baron keeps his slaves.

Valve - Found during CASPIAN. Can be found on many enemies during this Chapter or looted whilst savaging. It is a sniper rifle so will stand out to the others.

Crossbow - Story related in TAIGA. You pick it up off a statue at the very start of the Chapter. This will act as your second special weapon.
  • Install a modification of each category on a single weapon.

This trophy will most definitely come naturally. To unlock modifications, you can either pick them up remove or dismantle them while they are on the ground by holding . Install the mod at a workbench or hold + to bring up your backpack and select them on the weapons page. The minigun has the least modifications to apply (it only has two) but you will have this trophy way before you find the minigun.
  • Spend 500 chemical resources on cleaning weapons.

You can visibly see your weapons becoming dirtier, which happens by falling in water, walking in sandstorms and firing your weapon. A dirty weapon will clog up, have stoppages and misfire so you do have to keep them clean. You can only clean them at a workbench by using chemicals you've found and holding whilst the weapon is on the screen.

Your best bet is the grind this out by doing the following:

Step 1 - Dirty your weapon, dive into water over and over.
Step 2 - Collect as much chemical resources you can
    Step 3 - Find a workbench
    Step 4 - Quick save
Step 5 - Clean all 3 equipped weapons
Step 6 - Reload the quick save
Step 7 - Rinse and repeat
  • Spend 500 consumable resources on crafting.

You will earn this fairly soon into the game. Both scraps and chemicals count towards this. Spend 500 on crafting ammo, Medkits, filters, throwables, cleaning weapons and fixing your mask. Either by opening your bag ( + ) or on a workbench.
  • Find all upgrades for Artyom's suit.

There are 14 upgrades to find but all of them are only found in Chapters 3 and 6. If any are missed, then you can always use Chapter Select to pick them up.

See Libarian for a locations Guide to all the collectibles.
  • Patch the Gasmask.

Whilst wearing your Gasmask during battle it will get damaged. Once the Gasmask has taken a certain amount of damage, a hole will appear on the left side of the screen so press to patch it.
  • After running out of filters in a hazard zone, craft a new one while suffocating.

Firstly make sure you have the correct amount of materials to craft a filter (10 scraps, 30 chemicals). Whilst you are in any radiation zone, the timer will slowly start to drop. The higher the radiation in the area, the quicker this will happen. Find a high contaminated area and Quick Save just in case. These can be located on every map (if you wait until later Chapters there is a high chance your filters won't last long anyway) and stand there. Once the counter drops to zero you'll start to suffocate. Quickly get out your backpack using + and craft a filter.
  • Kill 300 mutants.

Every non-human enemy will class as a mutant and they come in the masses so this will definitely happen over the course of the game. If for some reason you don't hit this at the end of the game. You can farm them via Chapter select, loading saves or in NG+. Also, during CASPIAN, there are nests scattered all over so use these as an unlimited source of targets.
  • Kill 50 enemies at long distance.

You will first find the 'Valve' sniper rifle during the CASPIAN Chapter. There are a couple of high locations during this level in which you can save, sniper all enemies in sight then reload. This is a great way to farm these kills.

At the far right of the map at the bottom is a small helipad. There's hangers and a tall Air Traffic Control building. At the top of the ATC tower you have a clear view of the map. There are nests located just outside the front entrance where you came in and behind the building near the road. You can get up to 10 kills from here. Save, kill, load - rinse and repeat until the trophy pops. There is also a sniper rifle located on top of an oil rig near the boat where the slaves are being held. From this location, use the same method as above to farm kills.
  • Kill 30 enemies with Tikhar.

Takarev will give you this weapon as part of the story during the VOLGA Chapter. This will be your first special weapon that can be equipped by holding . The ammo for this weapon are tiny little pebbles you can craft using either a workstation or using your backpack + . Get 30 kills of whatever enemy you like e.g. humans or mutants.
  • Kill 30 enemies with Crossbow.

You pick the Crossbow off a statue at the very start of the TAIGA Chapter. This will act as your second special weapon that can be equipped holding . If you are going for the good ending, it's unlikely you will get 30 kills before the end of the game. Farm it using reloads, Chapter Select or wait until NG+ where you will have access to the crossbow from the start.
  • Kill 300 Human enemies.

Human enemies are one of two types (human and mutants) located throughout the game. During your good ending run you will be stunning and passing by stealthily most enemies so it may require farming. This can be done via reloads, Chapter Select or during your NG+ bad ending run if that's the route you have taken. The open world chapters are the best places to farm these. Find a bandit outpost, save, kill all human enemies and reload save. Rinse and repeat.
  • Melee-kill or stun 50 enemies.

When approaching an enemy stealthily or head on with melee, you will get an option to knock them out by holding or to kill them using - do this 50 times. You will naturally get this during your good ending run.
  • Kill 3 enemies using sniper scope while wearing the Gas mask and using the Night Vision goggles all at the same time.

Once you have obtained the night vision goggles during Chapter 3: VOLGA. equip them by holding + then you'll need to equip the gas mask by holding Down. Now equip any weapon with a scope and kill 3 enemies of any kind. To find the night vision goggles you need to save some captured cultists from bandits who will then give you a key to a room in the terminal. The NVGs are on a table in the room.

See Libarian for a video on where to find the Night Vision goggles.
  • Kill a demon with fire.

Depending on the difficulty you may need to craft more than 1 Molotov to kill the Demon, although medium difficulty and below only requires 1 Molotov. During the VOLGA side mission "Friend of the Crew", the teddy bear is located by a Demons nest. Quick Save before approaching the Demon and throw a Molotov to kill it. If you miss, reload and try again.
  • Find all 70 hidden Diary pages.

All 13 suit upgrades, 70 Diaries and 21 postcards can be found in this awesome video and list put together by 360GAMETV. See the full thread for more videos on the collectibles: LINK

  • Find all 21 post cards.

    See Libarian
  • Find a tune on the radio.

During Chapter 2: The Winter, you'll be tasked with tuning a radio in order to find a broadcast. Once that is done, stay sat down and tune into a channel playing music - it's towards the right hand side around channel 440. The radio will glow green, tune in and the trophy will pop.

Secret trophies

  • Detach all train cars on the MOSCOW level.

Attention - Although not missable, you will have to use Chapter Select and replay a fair chunk of it to get to this stage.

I also recommend remaining hidden during this trophy because once I was seen, I couldn't detach the second carriage so had to replay the entire chapter.

At the very end of Moscow, you will come under fire by another train. As part of the story you will jump across to the opposite one. Sneak past the enemies and before you go through the doors into the next carriage look left and you can pull a lever instead of opening the door. Do this to both carriages for the trophy to pop.

  • Duke

    Duke survives.

Warning: This is the first trophy that links to Full Strength and ultimately the good ending. Duke meeds to survive during the VOLGA mission.

Here is what you must do in order for Duke to survive:

Step 1 - Escape the church at the start without being seen or killing anybody. Use the melee stealth attack when confronted by a cultist or whilst sneaking up behind them. Do not knock out any surrendering enemies or hurt civilians.

Step 2 - Reach the cult leader using the same approach as above. This is critical to making sure Duke survives.

Bad actions will cause your screen to suddenly dim
Good actions will cause your screen to suddenly brighten
  • Kill 90 cannibals.

Chapter 5: YAMANTAU, is where you encounter the cannibals. There is plenty during the level and at the start when you get your bag back there is an endless wave of them. This is whist your team wait for you to jump onto the elevator. Just ignore them and kill the cannibals until the trophy pops.

This can also be farmed by reloading, Chapter Select and during NG+.
  • Kill 50 enemies with the Bukhanka.

This is the worst trophy in the game, purely because the car mechanics are so bad. Stick to the roads and near the nests to farm kills. If you see a group of enemies, Quick Save and farm them via reloading, because mindless driving around will quickly get tedious.
  • Damir stays with crew.

Warning: This is the second trophy linked to Full Strength and ultimately the good ending. Damir must decide to stay with the crew at the end of the CASPIAN Chapter.

Here is what you must do in order for Damir to stay:

Step 1 - Don't kill any slaves during the entire Chapter.

Step 2 - Save any slaves you come across, you can only save the ones in cages as the ones working will actually call for help if they see you hurt a guard. Stealth is the best approach for this. When you meet up with Anna during the Chapter, she will point out a boat full of slaves. Saving these will count as extra Good will towards Damir staying.

Bad actions will cause your screen to suddenly dim
Good actions will cause your screen to suddenly brighten.
  • Alyosha doesn't get wounded.

Warning: This is the last trophy linked to Full Strength and ultimately the good ending. Alyosha must not get injured at the end of TAIGA.

Here is what you must do to ensure Alyosha does not get injured:

Step 1 - If going for the Forest Child trophy you will automatically get the good ending as you will not have engaged anybody during the Chapter.

Step 2 - Don't kill any innocents, some reckon that killing pirates is ok during the mission but that's your call to make. I would just tie it in as mentioned above.

Bad actions will cause your screen to suddenly dim
Good actions will cause your screen to suddenly brighten.
  • Duke and Damir stay with the crew, Alyosha doesn't get wounded.

~Highly missable and will require a full game replay if any requirement is missed~

This trophy requires you to complete and achieve the listed outcomes below. There are only 3. To unlock this trophy you'll need to achieve all 3 within one playthrough. It will also land you the good ending as well.

    To achieve each positive outcome:-

    Duke survives during VOLGA:

Step 1 - Escape the church at the start without being seen or killing anybody. Use the melee stealth attack when confronted by a cultist or whilst sneaking up behind them. Do not knock out any surrendering enemies or hurt civilians.

Step 2 - Reach the cult leader using the same approach as above. This is critical to making sure Duke survives

Damir stays with the crew during Caspian:

Step 1 - Don't kill any slaves during the entire Chapter.

Step 2 - Save any slaves you come across, you can only save the ones in cages as the ones working will actually call for help if they see you hurt a guard. Stealth is the best approach for this. When you meet up with Anna during the Chapter, she will point out a boat full of slaves. Saving these will count as extra Good will towards Damir staying.

Alyosha doesn't get injured during TIAGA:

Step 1 - If going for the Forest Child trophy you will automatically get the good ending as you will not have engaged anybody during the Chapter.

Step 2 - Don't kill any innocents, some reckon that killing pirates is ok during the mission but that's your call to make. I would just tie it in as mentioned above.
  • Save Anna by paying the ultimate price.

This is the bad ending, in order to get this you will need to fail 2/3 of the requirements needed for the good ending (see Full Strength). Kill people, slaves, innocents to guarantee this. Bad actions will cause the screen to glow and a sound will play. This lets you know the act was counted as evil. You can also unlock this ending by using the Hardcore exploit.
  • Assume command of the Order.

This is the good ending. In order to get this, you must complete all positive outcomes in the following situations:

Duke survives during VOLGA - Tied in with Duke
Damir stays with the crew during Caspian - Tied in with Damir
Alyosha doesn't get injured during TAIGA - Tied in with Alyosha

See Full Strength for a full breakdown of the positive outcomes.

DLC: New Game+

3 trophies

  • Find 3 toys in New Game+ mode: teddy bear, sun and fish.

Note: There are multiple locations for each item during their listed Chapter

    Fish is during VOLGA
    Sun is during CASPIAN
    Bear is during TAIGA.

Once you have picked up a collectible, it saves automatically like the ones in the main game.

Full Credit to ReaperReborn. See the thread here: LINK
  • Complete the game in New Game+ mode using any modification.

There are two ways you can get this trophy:

1 - You can unlock this at the same time as Hardcore whilst using the exploit.
2 - Start NG+, select your save and then a list of modifications will be on the next screen for you to pick. You can have one or five. It's up to you.

Complete NG+ with any active to unlock this trophy.
  • Complete the game in Iron Mode.

Iron Mode is not a difficulty but a mode you can select in the modifications menu during NG+ start-up. Iron Mode fully disables the save system so you progress is only saved between Chapters but on Reader difficulty this shouldn't be a problem, however because of glitches, cheap deaths and even the car getting stuck in the CAPSIAN Chapter, this can be a real pain. This is made worse by the fact that none of the cutscenes are skippable. Be careful, drive slow and don't walk over bonfires. A cheap death towards the end of any Chapter will be rage inducing, therefore I don't recommend playing it on anything other than Reader.

DLC: The Two Colonels

Story related and can't be missed

You can complete this in under two hours. It takes you back to the original Metro game style and has you exploring the underground with a kick-ass Flamethrower and some story twists along the way. Complete all sections of this Chapter for the trophy to pop.
  • Find all 9 hidden Diary pages in THE TWO COLONELS Chapter.

~Missable - The Diary pages are scattered throughout the whole Chapter and if later ones are missed, you will have to replay the entire Chapter~

There are 9 scattered around all stages of the Chapter. Some are easier than others to locate. Check out the video below as some of the areas are hard to describe.

  • Kill 3 Nosalises with flamethrower's melee attack in THE TWO COLONELS Chapter

~Missable - These mutants only appear towards the end of the Chapter, therefore you will have to replay the whole thing if you miss any~

Once you are out of the metro and heading towards the last objective you will come across these familiar enemy. There are plenty of these to kill, on Reader difficulty it takes two strikes per mutant. Kill 3 with the flamethrower as a melee weapon only to unlock this trophy.

  • Complete THE TWO COLONELS Chapter without using any Medkits on Normal or higher difficulty.

~Missable - You will have to replay the entire Chapter if you miss this~

Play The Two Colonels Chapter on Normal difficulty without using any Medkits. Use the Auto Save through out and don't rush. I recommend saving before entering a new room and try to get past each section without getting hit.

Secret trophies

  • Dodge all of the Blind One's throwing attacks in THE TWO COLONELS Chapter.

~Missable - This happens right at the end and will require a full Chapter replay if you screw it up~

This acts as the final encounter of the chapter. Go all in with a fully upgraded flamethrower and attack immediately as the Blind one appears. Using a full tank of fuel will stop him throwing anything at you as it'll be to busy rolling around on the floor. Do this until the rooms fire control system goes off, the blind one will run away and re-appear shortly after for round two. Do the same again. If you have to reload, just run around in circles as the reload takes a while. This will hopefully be during the time he has ran off.

DLC: Sam's Story

8 trophies

  • Organize a documentary screening in the SAM'S STORY chapter.

~Missable - However it is near the start of the chapter and can be done with Chapter Select~

On the mission Find the captain, after you've spoken to the submarine owner. Get on to the boat and head into the first main open area (there is a half sunken statue in the middle) On the right hand side is a huge building (not the tall one) head here and eliminate the opponents. After that take the stairs to the first floor. At the top of the cinema is a working projector. Hold to eject the tape.

When you look from the top into the cinema, go left, then turn left and then right. At the end of the corridor go to the room on the right. Walk to the shelf at the back of the room and press to pick up a new movie. Walk back to the projector and put the new tape in.
  • Set all 5 traps in the SAM'S STORY chapter as the Captain requests.

~Missable - Will require a replay of the chapter up to this point if missed~

During the main story you and the Captain get drunk and have a wild night. After you've done this, you will take control of Sam on top of the Captain's building. Before you head out he will ask you to arm some traps on your way down. They are all numbered and in plan site. Just do not proceed on the zip line until the trophy has popped.

Note: To arm these traps you will need 5 Molotov Cocktails.
  • Complete SAM'S STORY on Normal or higher difficulty without dying in Batwing encounters.

    ~Highly missable~ ~ BUGGY~

You will need to play the chapter on normal and not die at all during the 3 encounters. Re loading after death won't work. You’ll need to back up your save and re download it every time you die. Making this trophy an absolute pain. You can however, reload a save before you die.

Use this video for reference. Credit to Nekov4ego for the video and write up for this trophy.

    First encounter
    • This is the easiest one. The Batwing will show up on either side of the train car. Just shoot it as soon as it is up in the air until it falls down and repeat. Listen to the sound to know which side it is on - it shakes the tree branches.
If you miss, make sure to hide behind the train car as the bat swarm attacks.

    Second encounter
    • Make sure you stock up on ammo, medkits and weapons at the workbench just before the car park (33:00). Similar to the previous encounter, you need to shoot the Batwing as soon as it appears in the air.
    • It will occasionally send bat swarms towards you - look for a car to hide behind nearby or jump left or right. You can lure the swarm to a certain position as it forms and then quickly run to the opposite end as they try to attack so they miss.
    • The Batwing will try to push cars towards you (3 times total). Look around and run to the opposite end of where it is. If you are hurt, getting hit by the cars will kill you instantly. If you are not, it will only damage you so you must heal immediately or reload.
    • After the third wave of cars sent in your way, the Batwing will attack a few more times and so will the bat swarms. You have a very limited area to run in so make sure you shoot the Batwing and run away from the swarms as best as you can, then quickly heal if you are hit.

    Third and final encounter
    • This is easier than the second one but make sure you stock up on ammo, medkits and weapons at the workbench in the ruined house just before the encounter (Watch out for the mines around it. I was already stocked up so I skipped this bit)
    • Listen and look for the tree branches shaking. Keep constant aim at where the source of the disturbance is and be ready to shoot as soon as the Batwing runs out to surprise you.
    • Occasionally you will be attacked by bat swarms again but in this area you have plenty of space to jump sideways or run around. If hurt, always heal.

Nekov4ego has provided a very in-depth guide and video for this trophy in the thread here: LINK

    Bug Reports

There are reports that this trophy is not popping even if all the requirements are met with no deaths, reloads or completing the chapter over and over. Head to the roadmap for an in depth breakdown of all bugs.
  • Complete the SAM'S STORY chapter.

    ~Story related and can't be missed~ ~BUGGY~

Complete the chapter on any difficulty. The trophy will unlock shortly after the cutscene begins once you've made your 'moral' choice at the end of the chapter.

    Bug Reports

There are reports that this trophy is not popping even if all the requirements are met and completing the chapter over and over is not working. A console factory reset is so far the only working solution. Head to the Roadmap for an in depth breakdown of all bugs.
  • Complete the SAM'S STORY chapter earning the Captain's full trust.

~Highly missable and will require a full chapter run if missed~ ~BUGGY~

Step 1 - When you first meet the Captain. Put your gun down
Step 2 - He will ask you to move a giant wooden block that was used as one of his traps.
Step 3 - Spare the sniper, might not be required but just in case as it's the good option
Step 4 - In the captains hideout, give him food when he moans about not having any (options to use the D-pad will show up)
Step 5 - Sort out his leg. Pretty sure this is part of the story but don't miss the button options
Step 6 - set up all 5 traps as required for Trapper
Step 7 - Find the captains comrades. During the heavy fog part of the chapter, after you've gone through the first building in the boat you'll be heading forward towards the next objective. Turn left and head up until you reach a small area. Follow the path until you find all of the comrades and you will automatically contact the captain. If you've reached the caravan camp you have gone to far.
Step 8 - End game decision, the captain will ask you to do something. Carry this out

    Bug Reports

There are reports that this trophy is not popping even if all the requirements are met and completing the chapter over and over is not working. A console factory reset is so far the only working solution. Head to the Roadmap for an in depth breakdown of all bugs.
  • Find all the Night Hunters' secret stashes in the SAM'S STORY chapter.

~Missable but can be done via replaying the chapter. All previously located stashes will already be counted~ ~BUGGY~

There are 8 stashes in the chapter. I recommend keeping an eye on your watch for the green blip that will show nearby weapons. This can help locate the stashes.

Stash 1 - In the Very first building you come to after getting The boat. In the bottom left hand corner of the hanger is some wooden planks leading towards the stash. You’ll have to park up and work you’re way around and drop down.

Stash 2 - In the tall building (objective) Enter the building on the ground floor and continue forward until part of the wall collapses. Follow this route but instead of going left and heading up. Go straight until you get to the end room with a red door. There is an opening to the left of the door where you can cut a rope. This opens the door to the stash.

Stash 3 - In the same building. Further upstairs you will come to a blue door, go through and go on the balcony (look for the stash symbol) to the far left of it is a door you can kick open. Behind some jars (you will need to smash them) is the suit upgrade.

Once you slide down a pole you cannot go back. Locking out the first 3 stashes

Stash 4 - After progressing on the boat with the Captain you will come across some bandits and a sniper. In the first building turn right and follow the corridor round to a set of stairs. Go up the stairs and turn right at the stash symbol and you will see a white sheet. Climb up behind this and In this room there is a spot you can crawl into the stash area.

Do not finish this section before you find the stash as you can't come back

Stash 5 - This is located in the captains hideout. During Trapped once you get to the 3rd trap location, continue straight and around the route until you come to a room with a stash symbol on the left and a large painting with a bookcase behind it. Remove these to get the stash.

Do not take the zipline until you have this and set up all the traps

Stash 6 - After you land from the zipline there will be a boat In front of you. Jump in and go South. There will be a train carriage on route that you will ride through and after that on the right is a small island with a makeshift bridge going to it. Get to the very first building and there is a door at the bottom right you can’t open. Backtrack one room and go behind the bookshelf. There is a crawl space to the stash area.

Stash 7 - After the second batwing fight, You will have worked your way through a bandit camp. Once you’ve lowered the boat, stop. Backtrack into the building to the right (facing the boats direction). When you enter the building there will be a set of 3 switches on the bottom floor.

Press the 3rd switch, then the 1st and then the 2nd. This will unlock the red door on the right.

Stash 8 - After the fog section, at the caravan camp. Grab the red fuel can and take it to the generator. Refuel and turn on the generator. This will raise the crane allowing you to access a pipe down below.

  • Collect all harmonica melodies in the SAM'S STORY chapter.

~Missable, however it can be done via Chapter Select and all previous found melodies will already be counted~

There are a total of 8 melodies through out the chapter. You can collect them across multiple runs of the chapter. Areas get locked out so make sure to keep an eye on these from the beginning.

  • Collect all the upgrades for Sammy rifle and Stallion pistol in the SAM'S STORY chapter.

~Missable, because the upgrades don't carry over across playthroughs~

You should get this along with Great Owl. The stashes alone will give you most if not all of the required upgrades but just in case (as there seems to be a few variables) make sure to loot all attachments off enemy weapons and anything else you find along the route including all question marks on the map for any mini stashes.

Note: This trophy is technically missable because upgrades do not carry over across playthroughs.

    All upgrades for Sammy Rifle:
    • Burst Fire System
    • Standard Magazine
    • Reflex Sight
    • Red Laser
    • Sniper Stock
    • Semi-Automatic System
    • Scope 6x
    • Heavy Stock
    • High Capacity Magazine
All upgrades for the Stallion Pistol:
    • Short Barrel And Suppressor
    • Green Laser
    • Balanced Grip
    • Reflex Sight
    • Extended Magazine
    • Closed Reflex Sight
    • High Capacity Magazine
    • Heavy Grip
    • Long Barrel With Full Auto

It should unlock by the time you get the last stash. If not you may have to back track a little before you progress so far that you can’t (the Zip Line across the river is the point of no return).
