Walkthrough

Step 1 - Get a feel for the games by playing through and finishing them
Before starting any of the games, at the main menu, scroll to the right until you come to the Game Options screen and select it. In the options screen, select Profile Options and then turn the difficulty to EASY and make sure that continues is set to FREE PLAY. This will make your initial playthroughs and the trophies you are trying for during these runs pretty much impossible to miss. After you have selected these settings, go back out to the main menu and select whichever game you want to start with and play through the entire game until you beat it. Rinse and repeat for all 7 titles.

During this step you will pick up Boss Beaten: Metal Slug, Cleared: Metal Slug, Boss Beaten: Metal Slug 2, Cleared: Metal Slug 2, Boss Beaten: Metal Slug X, Cleared: Metal Slug X, Boss Beaten: Metal Slug 3, Cleared: Metal Slug 3, Boss Beaten: Metal Slug 4, Cleared: Metal Slug 4, Boss Beaten: Metal Slug 5, Cleared: Metal Slug 5, Boss Beaten: Metal Slug 6, & Cleared: Metal Slug 6

Step 2 - Clean up any remaining prisoner trophies you have left
You may or may not have gotten these trophies during step 1's playthroughs but if you are missing any of them, now is the time to go back and clean those up in whichever games you are missing them. See the relevant trophy description for help with finding and finishing these if you are struggling on any of them.

During this step you will pick up To the Rescue: Metal Slug, To the Rescue: Metal Slug 2, To the Rescue: Metal Slug X, To the Rescue: Metal Slug 3, To the Rescue: Metal Slug 4, To the Rescue: Metal Slug 5, & To the Rescue: Metal Slug 6

Step 3 - Finish each game using 5 continues or less
These will more than likely be the last trophies you go for and also be the ones that will give you fits as these are the ones that give this game it's high difficulty rating in my opinion. I would definitely suggest leaving the difficulty level on EASY to help give you an advantage, but I would recommend that you change the continues option to 5 so that you know you beat it within the limits for the trophies. For these runs, take your time (advancing slowly helps as when you only see part of a tank or whatever, you can usually attack it without it attacking back giving you an easy kill for a harder enemy) and use the boss tips listed each of the corresponding trophy descriptions to try to help out as best as possible. If you are still struggling with these trophies then I would suggest looking up playthrough videos on YouTube to get an idea of what is coming at you in each of the levels as I know it's helped me get further and further in my runs as I knew what to expect a little more.

During this step you will pick up Perfected: Metal Slug, Perfected: Metal Slug, Perfected: Metal Slug, Perfected: Metal Slug, Perfected: Metal Slug, Perfected: Metal Slug, Perfected: Metal Slug, & Metal Slug Master

29 trophies ( 20  )

  • Unlock all trophies.

Just obtain the other 28 trophies and the shiny platinum is yours!

  • Rescue at least 10 prisoners in one Metal Slug mission.

In order to "rescue" a prisoner in a level, you must free them from their captivity AND finish the level without dying after getting them or else they become recaptured and you lose them from your count towards your end total. You can still get the trophy if you lose prisoners during your level playthrough as long as you have 10 by the time you finish the level.

The first level is probably the easiest to get this trophy as the level itself isn't that difficult to complete without dying. The location of the mission's prisoners are as follows:

(Note: The video shows the locations of all the prisoners throughout the level even if I don't have them all still saved by the end)

    • 1 & 2: You will come across them near the beginning of the level, one is on top of a hill and the other below a little further ahead on a lower one
    • 3: He will be on a little hill after you go through the wreckage of a plane
    • 4: After blowing up the boat with the big DANGER barrell on it (in the huts), he will be hanging from the hut wreckage just past there, simply shoot him down
    • 5-6: When going up the hills with the waterfalls, stop on the second incline and fire up around there and he will drop (I believe two drop but I only ever saw one, either way, you should get credited for 2 from this drop)
    • 7-8: Same area, just a little further up right under the second waterfall, aim up and shoot them down
    • 9-10: Up on the top section where you fight the end level boss, the one on the right will drop down to the bottom level, but the one of the left will run back and forth up there until the boss is defeated and then he will fall to you as his platform blows up
  • Defeat the 1st boss in Metal Slug.

This boss is a cannon type tank that is built into a hut like structure. It has two modes of attacking you. The first one is that it will fire 3 projectiles at you and then repeat the same attack after those have fallen. These are slower moving and easily avoided just by moving back and forth in between them, just make sure to keep firing on the boss in between avoiding the attacks. After it takes enough damage it will switch it's attack to a high cannon beam followed by a low cannon energy ball attack. All you have to do is duck when it is firing the high beam and jump over the energy ball. Just rinse and repeat while attacking until it falls.

  • Beat Metal Slug.

All you have to do to get this trophy is finish the game. It does not have any difficulty/continue restrictions attached to it so I'd suggest using EASY/FREE PLAY settings. After you defeat the final boss, the trophy will pop!

  • Beat Metal Slug with 5 or fewer continues.

You have to make it through all 6 missions without using more than 5 continues (you get 3 lives for each continue). Patience and practice are going to be your best friends on this run. Tanks are going to be your best friends in the missions as they will not only give you more fire power, but also allow you to take multiple hits of damage before they explode leaving you defenseless again (and make boss fights MUCH easier).

Bosses will obviously be your biggest threat to keeping your lives intact, so here are tips on how they attack and how to defeat them (hopefully) easier:

Mission 1 - Level Boss: The boss is a cannon type tank that is built into a hut like structure. It has 2 modes of attacking you. The first one is that it will fire 3 lobbing projectiles at you and then repeat the same attack after those have fallen. These are slower moving and easily avoided just by moving back and forth in between them, just make sure to keep firing on the boss in between avoiding the attacks. After it takes enough damage, it will switch it's attack to a high cannon beam followed by a low cannon energy ball attack. All you have to do is duck when it is firing the high beam and jump over the energy ball. Just rinse and repeat while attacking until it falls.

Mission 2 - Mini-Boss: After fighting the boats, you will come to a house where the roof will blow off, exposing a large tank. The tank fires very slow moving cannon ball type attacks, but fires them fairly regularly. Just aim up and keep firing away at the tank as you move to the side to avoid the attacks. For a very easy time with this boss, make sure to pick up the Shotgun power up from the last boat your defeat and stand up the tank firing up constantly as you should be able to beat it before one of it's attacks even gets to you (should only take about 7-8 shots from the shotgun).

Mission 2 - Level Boss: The boss of this level is a plane type vehicle you will fight while riding on a train car with rising and lower platforms. The boss has 4 different types of attacks. It's first one is it firing missiles at you that will either spin around before coming at you or just head directly at you. All you need to do is duck under them if they aren't coming at you along the ground or jump over them if they are ground level. During this attack phase, occasionally a solider will pop out of one of the doors and lob grenades at you so move towards the right side of the screen to avoid them easier. After you do enough damage, it will throw out a lot of mine-like grenades of the back of it. Just stay to one side and shoot at them and avoid them as best you can. After that attack, a general will come out of the door with a rocket launcher and start firing at you. It's best to try to stay under him so he only fires straight down while moving back and forth to avoid the shots. Just keep firing away until you defeat it.

Mission 3 - Mini-Boss: This mid-level boss is a guy with a machine gun and takes place on a mountain area with different levels to jump up to and to drop down from. His main attacks are his heavy machine gun fire and knife attack when you get close to him. Just stay on the top level and keep firing down at him while avoiding his knife attack if he gets on the same level as you until he dies.

***After beating the mid-level boss, try to collect as many grenades as possible throughout the rest of the level and use them minimally if possible as it will make the end level boss beyond easy***

Mission 3 - Level Boss: A giant tank will appear at the bottom of the screen for you to fight. This can best the easiest boss fight you've encountered yet if you followed the above advice about grenades (which should be easy enough to do). Once it's mostly on the screen, dunk in your tank and start throwing your grenades at it as fast as possible, moving backwards a bit after every few thrown (if you don't have your tank still then just lob grenades normally while moving back as well). If you follow this step, the tank should honestly fall before you even have to worry about it even attacking you. If you do not have enough grenades to defeat it for some reason, then fire away with your tank or if you no longer have that, then the prisoner you save right before the boss comes out gives you a rocket launcher, so fire away while avoiding it's projectile attacks. The tank attacks with a rocket launcher blast from the top launchers and shoots at you from the turret on the back.

Mission 4 - Level Boss: There are two tank bosses at the end of this level, one that rides on the upper level and one on the bottom. As long as you still have your tank, this battle will be very easy. When entering the boss area, take the ramp to the lower level and move to the right of the screen as the bosses come on. Stay to the right until the tanks locations are almost both in the middle of the screen and then move as far to the left as you can so you are right against the lower tank and fire away with your regular cannon while ducking down until it dies and then turn your attention to the upper one while avoiding it's missile attacks (just move further to the right for the most part and you shouldn't even have to worry about it) until it falls as well.

Mission 5 - Level Boss: This boss is a tank that raises up to reveal a fire cannon underneath it after it takes enough damage. It's main attacks consist of firing a barrage of missiles, a set of 4 lobbed fire-cannon balls, the fire cannon (while throwing the previous fire-cannon balls as well) and finally homing type missiles. When you first start the fight move in close and duck down and start lobbing grenades at it relentlessly while avoiding it's attacks by moving back and forth if necessary until it lifts up to expose the fire cannon Once it does, start throwing grenades at the fire cannon while avoiding the other attacks until it explodes (if you do it quickly, it won't get a shot off). Once the bottom fire cannon blows up, it will drop 4 prisoners that will give you fuel and other things for you tank, so roll right underneath the tank and collect them while firing and lobbing any remaining grenades you have at the tank. While you are doing that, be careful as it will be begin firing off missiles that will home in on you under the tank and can do massive damage, so try to shoot at them and keep your focus fire on the tank to bring it down before your tank blows and it starts taking you down.

Final Mission Boss: You will fight another helicopter with a general hanging out the side who has a rocket launcher. The helicopter will begin by firing at the ground in spots on the ground moving towards you, so jump over them and try to get under the helicopter and just unleash on it. After that initial attack, the general will begin firing rockets at you, so if you are under the helicopter, start moving back towards the left side of the screen while still firing at the helicopter while avoiding the rockets. After he finishes, the front nose of the helicopter will open and fire out 3 missiles that you will fly around before finally dropping to the ground, but you can shoot them before then so try to take them out and return your fire back to the helicopter. The bottom hatch of the helicopter will then open and the helicopter will raise up to the top of the screen and begin to drop bombs as it moves across the screen. An easy way to avoid these I found is to exit your tank right before the bomb drops on to you as you avoid the damage if timed properly and then you can return right back into your tank to resume attacking. The boss will then repeat the front nose missiles attack (more of them this time and you probably won't be able to shoot them in time so you can use the exit vehicle trick listed above to try to avoid the damage), then the general will fire rockets again (if you are further to the right of where he is, it doesn't seem like he can fire or hit you, so that's a good place to be) and then the bombs dropping out of the bottom again. He will keep repeating different attacks listed above, so just avoid them as you did before and keep firing away at him until he falls.

This is by far the hardest fight, especially if you don't have your tank or lose it during the encounter. If you don't have it, then you need to use the platforms to your left to jump on and to jump over the missiles and make sure you just keep moving and making your main priority avoiding attacks and return fire when you have a moment in between his next attacks. He takes A LOT of damage before he falls, so just keep plugging away and hopefully if nothing else, you have most of your continues left that you can use if need be.

  • Rescue at least 10 prisoners in one Metal Slug 2 mission.

The location of the missions prisoners are as follows:

(Note: The video shows the locations of all the prisoners throughout the level even if I don't have them all still saved by the end)

    • 1 & 2: They are right at the beginning of the game on a platform (I already shot them down in picture)
    • 3 & 4: Right after you fight a guy on a camel, shoot up at the tree right there to drop bananas and eventually these prisoners
    • 5 & 6: Right after the previous 2, they will be up on the second floor of a building (again I shot down the one already in the picture)
    • 7: Right after blowing up the truck, he will be on the second floor of a building
    • 8: Right after the previous one, he will be hanging from a scafolding at the top of the screen on the next set of buildings
    • 9: On the sencond level of buildings right after the previous prisoner
    • 10: After blowing up the missle launcher, he's up on the second level of a building
  • Defeat the 1st boss in Metal Slug 2.

The end boss of this level is a hover craft type plane. Sword enemies and cannon enemies will climb out the side and jump down or fire at you from the plane's side decks. The plane will also occasionally blast fire from it's hover engines making it so you will have to stay directly under the plane and move with it to avoid being hit by the fire (usually while also avoiding enemy fire from above). To beat the boss, just keep firing away and throwing grenades at it as much as possible as you avoid the attacks. Your camel cannon is very helpful as well if you still have it to help drain down it's energy faster.

  • Beat Metal Slug 2.

All you have to do to get this trophy is finish the game. It does not have any difficulty/continue restrictions attached to it so I'd suggest using EASY/FREE PLAY settings. After you defeat the final boss, the trophy will pop!

  • Beat Metal Slug 2 with 5 or fewer continues.

Bosses will obviously be your biggest threat to keeping your lives intact, so here are tips on how they attack and how to defeat them easier:

Mission 1 Mini-Boss: There will be 3 tower turrets that turn into missile launchers. To begin, kill the enemies that drop down and then focus on one tower at a time, destroy it and then move to the next one. While attacking the turrets, they will fire missiles out at you that you can shoot to destroy, so make sure you are doing this as well in order to keep the threat of dying at bay.

Mission 1 Level Boss: The end boss of this level is a hover craft type plane.

Mission 2 Boss: This boss is a giant worm type creature that climbs up a tower below you with it's mouth wide open. The worm will climb up after you destroying the platforms as it goes causing you to jump to the next ones quickly in order to avoiding dropping into it's mouth (so always try to stay an extra level above it so you have a little extra time to jump up to avoid it). It will also shoot out glowing orbs that you will need to move and jump around to avoid. After a while, it will fire a laser from it's mouth up the middle of the screen, so make sure you are on one of the far sides in order to avoid it. If you have the exoskeleton, then just keep firing down into it's mouth as you jump upwards. If not, then keep lobbing grenades and jumping and using your primary weapon to fire down until it falls.

Mission 3 Boss: The boss here is a spider like tank. It fires out fiery cannon ball type attacks that lob across the screen to your location, but are easily avoidable by just moving back and forth (or up and down if you still have your plane). It also will use the turret on the bottom to shoot out a fire blast that you can avoid by running to the opposite side of the stage or flying over it. Another attack is when it fires out small helicopter like blades that move across the screen and drop, so just move towards him to avoid them. He will also start firing out of the gatling gun cannon on the top at you while in standing position, but these are very easily avoidable by running (get out of your plane if you are in it) all the way to the right against it as it can not fire down there to hit you, so just stay there and unload with weapon shots and grenades. After he finishes that attack, he will drop down to the ground and repeat the same attack, but this time you have to either fly around the shots or move/jump avoid them (I would focus more on avoiding the attacks then trying to attack your him yourself during this phase to make sure you don't accidentally get hit). After that it will go back to doing previous attacks, so just keep avoiding them and attacking until you defeat it.

Mission 4 Boss: The end boss of this level is a giant ship/tank hybrid looking thing. It starts off firing lobbing shots from it's cannons on the deck. After that, a giant cannon will appear and will start shooting shells at you. The best way to avoid this is if you have your tank still, move to the left side of the screen and when the shells comes near you jump over it and the your tank will be lifted above the explosion unharmed. If you don't, then you will need to move around the screen avoiding both the shell and the explosion afterwards. Just keep firing away during both of these attacks, the boss should fall very quickly.

Mission 5 Boss: A submarine that appears below you is your challenge at the end of this level. It begins attacking by firing energy balls out of it's back in a spread shot pattern. It then will fire individual energy balls that will come up to your level and then come at you at either ground level (jump over) or a little higher (duck under). It will alternate between these two attacks, but seems to move a little faster as the fight goes on. Just keep firing down with your primary weapons and tank cannon and throwing grenades to attack it and eventually it will fall.

Final Mission Mini-Boss: This is the same mid-level boss that you fought in the first game in mission 3. His main attacks are his heavy machine gun fire and knife attack when you get close to him. Just stay on the top level and keep firing down at him while avoiding his knife attack if he gets on the same level as you until he dies.

Final Mission Boss: A UFO... Yup, that's your final boss. The boss will begin by releasing smaller UFO's that shoot laser beams at you, so try to take them out as quick as possible while avoiding their fire. It then will do an attack where it drops electric fire balls down as it moves across the screen quickly. After that it will drop an electric rod out of it's bottom and shoot electricity at your location that you just need to jump out of the way of to avoid. After that it will begin repeating those type of attacks until you've done enough damage and crashes into the ground, but unfortunately it's not dead yet as a mother ship comes down and sucks it up into it and begins the fight again.

At the beginning of this phase of the battle, you will see enemies come from the left side of the screen but you do not have to worry about them as they are actually there to help you attack the boss. The boss itself will begin by releasing more smaller UFOs and again they should be taken out as quickly as possible while being careful to avoid their laser attacks. It will also drop down the lightning rod and fire a laser blast straight down under it, so just make sure you are not in it's way when it does fire. It will continue to alternate with these two attacks until you finally do enough damage to finish him off.

Once this final boss falls and you have not used more than 5 continues, the trophy will be yours!

  • Rescue at least 10 prisoners in one Metal Slug X mission.

    • 1 & 2: Right at the beginning of the level on a raised wooden platform
    • 3 & 4: On the second level of some buildings
    • 5: On the second level of a building after beating the tank
    • 6: On the second level of a building right where the mid-level boss is located
    • 7: Inside the truck you blow up that has your tank inside of it
    • 8 & 9: On an upper wooden walk way right after the previous prisoner
    • 10: Right in front of you as you approach the end level boss
    • 11, 12, & 13: Drop out of the bottom of the tank after you blow up the bottom turret
  • Defeat the 1st boss in Metal Slug X.

This boss is a tank that raises up to reveal a fire cannon underneath it after it takes enough damage. It's main attacks consists of firing a set of lobbed fire-cannon balls, the fire cannon (while throwing the previous fire-cannon balls as well) and finally homing type missiles. • Beat Metal Slug X.

All you have to do to get this trophy is finish the game in general. It does not have any difficulty/continue restrictions attached to it, so I'd suggest using EASY/FREE PLAY settings. After you defeat the final boss, the trophy will pop!

While attacking the turrets, they will fire missiles out at you that you can shoot to destroy, so make sure you are doing this as well in order to keep the threat of dying at bay.

Mission 3 Mini-Boss: The mid-level boss of this level is a hover craft type plane. Tanks will come out and fall down or fire at you from the plane's side decks. The plane will also blast fire from it's side hover engines making it so you will have to stay directly under the plane and move with it to avoid being hit by the fire (usually while also avoiding enemy fire from above). To beat the boss, just keep firing away and throwing grenades at it as much as possible as you avoid the attacks.

Mission 3 Boss: The boss here is a spider like tank. It's main attack is firing from it's Gatling gun on the front of it while standing or after it's lowered to the ground. When it's standing, move underneath it as it can not hit your there and keep firing away. Once it stops firing, move out from under it as it is going to drop down and repeat the firing only from the lower position making it more difficult to avoid. If you have the tank, then just roll up on to it and keep firing and take the single hit that will reach you. It will repeat this motion for a while until it takes enough damage and then it will begin to include sending out fiery helicopter type blades and lob out fire cannon balls, but as long as you stay right against him and fire up at him, they should all miss you/be destroyed. Keep up this strategy until he falls.

Mission 4 Boss: The end boss of this level is a giant ship/tank hybrid looking thing. It starts off firing lobbing shots from it's cannons on the deck. After that, a giant cannon will appear and will start shooting shells at you. The best way to avoid this is if you have your tank still, move to the left side of the screen and when the shell comes near you jump over it and the your tank will be lifted above the explosion unharmed. It begins attacking by firing energy balls out at you 2 at a time that you need to move/jump to avoid. It then will fire individual energy balls that will come up to your level and then come at you at either ground level (jump over) or a little higher (duck under). After taking enough damage it will fire out an electric blast at you from the ball gun on it's back, so make sure when you see it moving towards you and getting ready to fire you move as far to the left as possible to avoid it before resuming fire on it. Just keep firing down with your primary weapons/exoskeleton fire and throwing grenades to attack it and eventually it will fall.

  • Rescue at least 10 prisoners in one Metal Slug 3 mission.

The location of the missions prisoners are as follows:

(Note: The video shows the locations of all the prisoners throughout the level even if I don't have them all still saved by the end)

    • 1: Near the beginning on the mission on a boat plateau
    • 2: On top of a large boat
    • 3: On the upper level after blowing up the large boat
    • 4: In front of you as you enter the swamp area
    • 5: On the boat along your path
    • 6 & 7: Tied up above you while riding on the boat
    • 8 & 9: Just past the last 2 prisoners also tied up above
    • 10: Again, right after the previous ones tied up above
    • 11: You guessed it, right after those tied up above
    • 12: Drops down on to the wooden walkway during the boss fight
  • Defeat the 1st boss in Metal Slug 3.

The boss of this level is a giant mechanical crab like tank that is on the left side of the screen and moves towards you as the screen scrolls to the right destroying the wooden walkway as it goes. At the beginning of the fight, it shoots out flaming cannonballs that fire out and then drop down on top of you wherever you are standing. Just move back and forth to avoid them while firing at the boss nonstop. Once you hit it enough, the top of the cannons will change and start shooting out shells at you the drop quickly at your location so make sure to move quickly to avoid them. Just keep firing away and it should fall pretty quickly.

  • Beat Metal Slug 3.

All you have to do to get this trophy is finish the game in general. It does not have any difficulty/continue restrictions attached to it, so I'd suggest using EASY/FREE PLAY settings. After you defeat the final boss, the trophy will pop!

  • Beat Metal Slug 3 with 5 or fewer continues.

You have to make it through all 5 missions without using more than 5 continues (you get 3 lives for each continue).

Mission 1 Boss: Your boss is a giant mechanical crab like tank that is on the left side of the screen and moves towards you as the screen scrolls to the right destroying the wooden walkway as it goes. Just keep firing away and it should fall quickly.

Mission 2 Boss: The battle begins with 6 aliens that spin in a circle and fire orbs of energy at you. As you attack them, the number of orbs and how fast they fire/fall increases. Just keep moving back and forth to avoid the orbs while firing away at them until you finish off the last one. After that, a giant egg looking thing will pop out of the middle of the area and begin the second part of the fight. The egg will fire out a tracker laser type thing at you and then will drop a stone slab on that location faster and faster as it takes more damage. Just keep moving back and forth like before avoiding them and shooting the boss. You can also shoot the stone slabs to make them disappear into the ground faster to free up the ground so it's easier for you to move around and avoid the next ones. Just keep attacking and eventually it will explode.

Mission 3 Boss: The boss of this mission is a giant toy robot looking thing. It has a few different attacks that it rotates through as the battle goes on. The first is that it fires out a few homing missiles from it's one hand, so make sure you shoot them down when they get close to you in order to avoid them. The next is a laser beam it shoots out of it's eyes across the ground from left to right that you will need to jump over in order to avoid (just where the beam is hitting is where you get damaged). The final attack is when it pulls a missile from it's chest and slams it into the ground causing it to explode and send flaming balls up in the air to drop on you, so after the initial explosion, move back and forth in between the fire balls. As the battle goes on, he will repeat these attacks but they will come faster and with more intensity (more missiles, more fire balls, etc). If you can stay up on him and just keep unloading and dodging when the time calls for it, you should be able to make fairly quick work of him without too much of a problem.

Mission 4 End Boss: You enemy this time will be a giant mask with a jewel in the middle of it's forehead and that is exactly what your target will be for this battle. The boss itself starts out with a yellow energy bolt attack that shoots out from the jewel in a random pattern all over the screen (towards you and away from you as well) that can be easily avoided by just moving whenever any of the shots come towards you. After that, the boss hovers over you and does a red energy bolt attack that fires a few shots down towards where you are standing that you can again avoid by just moving back and forth between shots. It then does an attack the summons wolf like ghosts the float around above in a circle and then quickly drop down to where you are standing, so watch their movement and when they are getting ready to drop, move out of the way. It will start repeating some of the previous attacks, but will eventually do an attack where it moves to one side of the screen and breathes purple fire down to the ground towards the other side of the screen. To avoid this attack, move to the opposite side of where it is starting it's attack as soon as you can as it will stop right before it gets to the other side leaving you safe. Just keep attacking the crystal in the middle of it's head while avoiding it's repeat the previous attacks until it explodes.

Final Mission Mini-Boss #1: In the middle of the mission you will come across a mechanical looking blimp like enemy. The enemy has a few modes of attack that you need to look out for. The first is that it drops a bunch of bouncing bombs out the back, which drop to the ground and then bounce back up in random ways making it hard to predict where you need to move to avoid them completely, so make sure you watch to see where they are moving as soon as they bounce off the ground in order to time your movements properly. The other attack is when it shoots out a larger missile at you that loops around and then comes at you wherever you are positioned when it finishes the loop (sometimes it just comes straight at you without the loop), so just move up or down to avoid it or you can shoot it down if you're quick enough. The next attack it does is when a gunner pops out the back of the blimp and fires rockets at you which are easily avoided by either dodging them or shooting them down quickly. After they do these attacks they start to repeat them again, but occasionally there will be a biker on the ground level that will appear as well to bother you so take them out. The final attack it does is when our old mid-level boss from the previous games pops out the side door and starts throwing grenades at you. Just move around the screen constantly attacking and avoiding the grenades and the blimp will fall a short time after he appears.

Final Mission Mini-Boss #2: You will fight a helicopter with a general hanging out the side who has a rocket launcher, but you also have the advantage of having a stationary machine gun to help make this easier for you. The helicopter will begin by firing at the ground in spots on the ground moving towards you, so jump over them when they get too close to where you are and then resume firing. After that initial attack, the front nose of the helicopter will open and fire out missiles that you will fly around before coming at you, but you can shoot them before then so try to take them out and return your fire back to the helicopter or jump to avoid if they get too close. Eventually the bottom hatch of the helicopter will open and the helicopter will raise up to the top of the screen and begin to drop bombs as it moves across the screen. Shoot the missiles as they drop and the jump out of the way as they come near you to avoid taking damage. The general himself might fire a rocket himself at you, but if you keep hitting him there is a good chance he won't get them off or only a shot or two at most. The helicopter will repeat the original attacks, most heavily with the front missile attack but with more misses than original shot. Just keep attack and avoiding until it falls.

Final Mission Mini-Boss #3: This fight is with a UFO type ball. As flying through space it will appear and drop smaller ufo out the bottom that will fire lasers at you. Just destroy these smaller ones as quick as possible and return focus to the main boss. After you attack it enough, it will join in with a mother ship type UFO. It will fire a lightning attack out the bottom at you wherever you are positioned when it starts to prime up, so make sure to move out of the way prior to that. Just keep focusing on the ball in the middle and eventually it will blow.

Final Mission Mini-Boss #4: Another mini-boss, I know, but thankfully this one can be defeated extremely easily. The boss itself looks like a Mother Brain ripoff and has one basic attack which is firing a blue orb at you. During the first part of the battle, it will fire smaller balls constantly at you, but all you have to do is keep moving back and forth across the screen while firing up at it to avoid them. Once you do enough damage, the boss will change the orb attack from faster small ones, to a slower large one. The only change in strategy here is to move to one side of the boss and when the orb gets to just about it's full size, run to the other side of the boss and then rinse and repeat for the following one all while firing up at the boss until it dies.

Final Mission End Boss: The final boss is an alien head with its brain sticking out (that's your target). The alien will grab your tank but you can still shoot from it and also jump in and out of it as well, which is good a that's the method you are going to use to beat him. He has 2 attacks, one is an electrical circle he shoots out of his brain that you need to jump over (or jump out of your tank) to avoid while the other is when he opens his mouth and causes these blobs to come out and float up the screen which can be avoided by moving and jumping or if timed right jumping back into your vehicle (even if not, your vehicle is the place to be if you're going to take hits from them as they don't seem to do a to of damage to it and it won't kill you in one shot either). Just keep jumping from your tank to the alien to avoid the different attacks and firing away as much as possible on his brain. As you do more damage he'll start doing his two attacks faster and almost simultaneously, so just be watchful of them and keep going until he dies.

Once this final boss falls and you have not used more than 5 continues, the trophy will be yours!

    • 1: He will be in the back of the truck near the beginning of the stage
    • 2: On a falling parachute platform along with an enemy
    • 3 & 4: They are hanging from the top of the screen when you go down in the sewer/under
      bridge area
    • 5: Girl walking with a backpack on walking in the sewer/under bridge area
    • 6 & 7: Another set hanging from the top of the screen in the sewer/under bridge area
    • 8: Will run at you from the right side of the screen at the start of the boss fight
    • 9: After defeating the first part of the boss, he will come from the right side of the screen
    • 10, 11 & 12+: During the final part of the boss fight, they will come from the right side of the screen one at a time (only used one picture to show it) *Depending on how long you take to finish off the final boss will indicate how many of them will appear, the longer the battle, the additional ones will come, the shorter, possibly only one of them will make it*
  • Defeat the 1st boss in Metal Slug 4.

The boss of this mission is a huge blimp with multiple parts to destroy before it is defeated. The first part of the fight is against 2 turret gunman and a port that drops bouncing depth charge looking things. Just keep attacking the blimp and avoid or shoot the bouncing mines until all 3 of them explode. In the next section you will have a door that opens and drops out normal enemies while there is a missile launcher that fires larger missiles at your that home in on you somewhat. Jump over the missiles when they come by you or attack them, while killing the normal enemies and firing at the blimp and it will explode very soon as well. The final part has a Gatling gun which shoots at the ground from right to left which you have to jump over the spots where they are landing on the ground. It also has section that fires out missiles at you that home in on you, but you can shoot them down or jump over them when they hit the ground by you. Just keep firing away and eventually the whole blimp will be defeated.

  • Beat Metal Slug 4.

All you have to do to get this trophy is finish the game in general. It does not have any difficulty/continue restrictions attached to it, so I'd suggest using EASY/FREE PLAY settings. After you defeat the final boss, the trophy will pop!

  • Beat Metal Slug 4 with 5 or fewer continues.

Mission 1 Boss: The boss of this mission is a huge blimp with multiple parts to destroy before it is defeated. The first part of the fight is against 2 turret gunman and a port that drops bouncing depth charge looking things. Just keep attacking the blimp and avoid or shoot the bouncing mines until all 3 of them explode. Next section will have a door that opens and drops out normal enemies while there is a missile launcher that fires larger missiles at your that home in on you somewhat. Jump over the missiles when they come by you or attack them, while killing the normal enemies as you attack the blimp. The final part has a gatling gun which shoots at the ground from right to left which you have to jump over the spots where they are landing on the ground. It also has section that fires out missiles at you that home in on you, but you can shoot them down or jump over them when they hit the ground. Just keep firing away and eventually the whole blimp will be defeated.

Mission 2 Boss: This boss is a huge mechanical tower with different sections, each with their own "attacks" for the most part. The key to beating this easiest it to just keep attacking non-stop the different sections and blow them up to bring the next one down. The first set of sections consist of a gun on the bottom & a section where enemies come out of it. The easiest way to beat these first parts is to run right up against the tower and fire up to kill all the enemies before they come out of the second part. After they are finished, jump up to the little platform so that the bottom gun can not hit you when it fires and then focus your attack on the top tower piece that is just out of view until it is destroyed and then attack the bottom to take it out. After it is destroyed the tower will drop down and another piece with enemies coming out of it will appear. Stay on the platform and just fire away at it as if you set yourself right they won't be able to hit you, nor will the rockets being fired out of the bottom one. After it drops comes the fun part as the last one is a huge cannon that fires shells at you that drop quickly so you'll need to move fast to avoid them or if you have your tank then use the jump out/in trip to avoid being hit. In addition to the cannon, bombs will drop from the sky via parachutes, so these also need to be avoided in the same type of manner. Just keep attacking and eventually the whole tower will fall and explode.

Mission 3 Boss: At the beginning of this fight with the tank, the general will fire at you, but if you get all the way up against tank and kneel, he can't hit you (although the helicopter that joins in shortly can, so you'll have to avoid the shots after that point). Next the tank will have a saw blade come out of the front of it and then extend half-way across the screen so make sure you keep your distance during this attack. Next the turret will shoot lobbing fire balls at you that will fall where you are, so keep moving to avoid them. After a while there will be missiles that start coming from the right side of the screen that you either need to shoot down or dodge. The boss will then repeat the other attacks, so just keep avoiding them as you did before and constantly attacking until the tank blows.

Mission 4 Boss: This boss is a weird robot and the battle begins with the claw hand moving around above you firing a homing laser before the arm slams into the ground, so make sure you are constantly moving out of it's way to avoid being hit. After it is destroyed, the crane arm turns in a turret that shoots purple fire straight down so use the same method to avoid it's attacks and counter attacking until it blows up. Normal soldiers will crawl out of it's mouth, but they are easily taken care of with a shot or knife attack. After the arm is destroyed, his other arm comes up and starts releasing helicopter type things that carry bubbles and drop them on you as they go overhead unless you shoot them first. Next the arm will shoot a long missile out of the bottom hole that travels along the bottom of the screen that you need to jump onto and then over to avoid. Just keep avoiding those two last attack types and the soldiers coming out of the robots mouth while attacking and you willl eventually take it down.

Mission 5 Boss: You will be fighting a submarine that appears below you while you stand on the stern of a sunken ship. The first part of the subs attack consist of normal enemies coming out of the port hole on the top left and a gunner shooting at you from the bottom right. If you stand just to the right of the port hole where the normal enemies come out and keep jumping/firing down, you should be able to avoid the gunner shooting at you completely and also be able to take out the normal enemies as they come up to you. After you do enough damage, the submarine will submerge and begin firing multiple large missiles up at you from the bottom of the screen followed by smaller ones coming from the right side of the screen. When the missiles come up from the bottom, jump up shoot down at one of them to destroy it and give yourself an open spot to stand and try to avoid or take out the missiles coming from the right side. Keep doing that pattern until the sub re-emerges from below and then repeat jumping/shooting method from the first part of the fight until you finish it off.

Final Mission Mini-Boss: The mini-boss is the same as in previous games. His main attacks are his heavy machine gun fire and knife attack when you get close to him. Just stay on the top level and keep firing down at him while avoiding his knife attack if he gets on the same level as you until he dies both times.

Final Mission Boss: You are fighting against an evil scientist in a small control bubble that gets loaded into different robot bodies for you to defeat. The first robot body has 2 attacks with the first being that it fires missiles out of it's chest and the second that it fires energy balls out of it's one shoulder cannon. Lucky for you, all you have to do is run all the way against the robot, kneel down to avoid both completely and fire away making this first form extremely easy to defeat.

The second robot body starts off by firing two gatling guns and different angles across the screen, but again thankfully, all you have to do it run all the way against the robot and kneel down in front of it to avoid them all. Next the robot will fire out drone type robots that will hover above you and fire down energy shots, so you will need to take them out while avoiding the remaining ones' shots. After they are defeated it will send a saw blade slowly across the room that you will need to jump over. It will then shoot out more drones that you will need to destroy before slowly bring the saw blade back across the room. While the saw blade is returning, it will start to fire off the gatling guns again, but if you stay right behind the blade as it moves and duck, you will be able to avoid the first few shots. Once it gets close to you, jump back and start firing away while it is still going through it's motion of angles down, and then jump past them into a safe spot once it starts going back up again. It will then repeat previous attacks, especially the blade until you finish it off.

The final part of the battle will see him move to the center of the room in a control panel type setup. His first plan of attack will involve lasers coming down both sides of the screen and shooting out a screen wide laser. In order to avoid them, you will either need to duck (the lasers on the right) or jump (the lasers on the left). After he finishes that attack, he will then make lasers appear at the top of the screen and fire down and at angles leaving a few open spots as safe zones for you to stand in, so make sure as soon as you see them you get into them. He will then repeat the side lasers but you will have to watch as now the different lasers can come from either side meaning you'll have to watch if they start early or if they aren't activating until the ground and act accordingly. It's next attack consists of 2 laser cannons that shoot a bunch of lasers that bounce around the room making it hard to dodge. If you stand in one of the corners, it seems a bit easier to move around and avoid them as you have less to worry about, but whatever you find easiest go with as you will have to keep your eyes peeled for on coming lasers until they disappear finally. After that it will begin the side lasers again, but it will also have a large cannon appear at the top of the screen somewhere and fire a huge laser shot straight down, so move out of it's way if it's above you and go back to dodging the side lasers. Small robots will pop up on both sides of the level and will fire laser beams at you if you don't destroy them quickly, so do so as carefully as possible as the side laser thing will start up again during this as well. Just attacking and avoiding and eventually you will finish the final form off as well.

Once this final boss falls and you have not used more than 5 continues, the trophy will be yours!

(Note: The video shows the locations of all the prisoners throughout the level even if I don't have them all still saved by the end)

    • 1 & 2: They are right near the beginning of the game on a little ground section
    • 3: A little further down river, he is hanging from the top of the screen
    • 4: He is on the floor right as you enter the temple
    • 5: Right after you enter the second part of the temple, he will be on a raised platform
    • 6: He's on top of a totem type doorway right after you get your tank
    • 7 & 8: Right as you enter a new part of the temple, they will be hanging from the ceiling
    • 9: When you reach the top of a set of stair like platforms, he'll be at the top of them
    • 10: He will on the floor right in front you in the section of the temple right after you defeat the mini-boss
    • 11 & 12: They will right after you destroy a totem doorway shortly after the previous prisoner
    • 13, 14 & 15+: He come from the left side of the screen during the boss fight
  • Defeat the 1st boss in Metal Slug 5.

The boss of this mission is a large tank that definitely doesn't exactly move like a normal tank, which makes for some fun during this fight. When the battle begins, it will fire a lobbing fire ball at your from it's main cannon which is easy to avoid by just moving away from it or jumping right up on to the tank and ducking before it can get the shot off. After it fires the shot, the tank will "pop a wheelie" for lack of a better description and come towards you, dropping back down after a little bit. To avoid being crushed, move all the way to the left side of the stage. Next it will begin shooting out long shots from it's side gatling gun across the screen and at you in various bursts that you can run and jump to avoid. After it takes enough damage, it will repeat these attacks, but with more fire balls shot per time and occasionally more long shots from the gatling gun as well. Just keep avoiding the attacks and picking up the power-up guns the prisoners from the left side of the screen drop to help defeat him as quickly as possible.

  • Beat Metal Slug 5.

All you have to do to get this trophy is finish the game in general. It does not have any difficulty/continue restrictions attached to it, so I'd suggest using EASY/FREE PLAY settings. After you defeat the final boss, the trophy will pop!

  • Beat Metal Slug 5 with 5 or fewer continues.

You have to make it through all 5 missions without using more than 5 continues (you get 3 lives for each continue).

Mission 1 Mini-Boss: The mini-boss of this level is a smaller tank like yours. It's first attack is an arm that comes out the top and fires a laser across the floor a little in front of it, so just make sure you're about a quarter of the screen or more away from it when it does this and you will be fine. Next it will fire shots out the front of it while also firing lobbing missiles at the same time causing you to be very careful when trying to jump to avoid either, but you can use the tank jump in/out trick to avoid them if need be (and if you still have your tank). The only other thing it does which isn't an attack is it will drive across the screen to the other side and then resume attacks from there (not really an issue, but just something to keep in mind). Just keep attacking and he'll fall in no time.

Mission 1 Boss: The boss of this mission is a large tank that definitely doesn't exactly move like a normal tank, which makes for some fun during this fight.

Mission 2 Boss: You will be fighting this giant plane boss while flying in your own personal one. The fight starts out with the boss on the left side and fires off a ton of small energy orbs towards the right, only for them to come back towards the left in a full screen pattern making you have to weave your way through them. While it's doing this attack, stay all the way to the left and fire away until you have to make your way through the energy orbs. The plane will then move to the other side of the screen and begin letting out fiery helicopter blades at you that will drift back before stopping and then coming back after you and circling around the screen, so you need to shoot or avoid these until they leave the screen. After that, the plane will then shoot fire out of it's thrusters and then move all the way to the top or bottom, so make sure to follow it in whichever direction it goes. It will then move back to the left side and repeat both sides of attack again. Once it returns back to the left side again, the side turret cannons will fire electric balls at you that you need to move down the screen to avoid. It will then repeat it's attacks until it takes enough damage and then flies away ending the mission.

Mission 3 Boss: This boss looks like a mechanical cockroach (I guess) that climbs down the side of a building you're in. While fighting the boss, cannon enemies will appear occasionally and you should take them out so you can focus on the boss. The first attack it does is shooting large shells at you at different levels from it's cannon top that you either have to jump over or duck under in order to avoid. The next type of "attack" it does it send outs shockwaves that destroys the floor you're on and drops you down a level, but really nothing to avoid with it. It will then shoot out missiles on the floor below you the move up towards you, so either shoot them to destroy them or move/jump to avoid them as they come up. It will then go back to it's large shell attack before sending out the shockwaves again and dropping you a floor again. It then keeps repeating those same attacks over and over until you finish it off.

Mission 4 Boss: You'll be fighting a submarine in the middle of the desert here...yeah, sure. The submarine will come out from under you to begin the fight and then shoot fire balls into the air and then they will come down all across the screen, so move around between then to make sure to not take damage. It will then release energy balls into the air from the back end, so run to the front and they should avoid you. It will then shoot off another set of fire balls and then begin to submerge itself again. If you keep attacking it with shots and grenades, you should be able to kill it prior to it even gets down.

Final Mission Mini-Boss: I'm not sure if this really should be considered a mini-boss since you fight the main boss right after but that's how I'm going to classify this one. Basically you are fighting two enemies in control room on either side of a tower that are controlling these swinging arm type things that shoot laser shots out of the bottom at you. While that is going on, they shoot up purple worms to drop down on you. Focus on one control room at a time while knifing any worms near by and also while avoiding the laser beams shot at you. Once you finish off one side, move to the other and repeat the process until it explodes as well.

Final Mission Boss: The final boss looks like some sort of demon dragon reaper type thing. When the battle starts, you'll see it's chest which has a skull on it which will be your target for this part. Blue orbs will appear at the top of the screen and then come at you where you stand, so keep moving from side to side in order to avoid them. After a while, a large amount of orbs will appear at the top of the screen and the boss will fly away as they come down at you in a huge cluster. Keep moving to the side away from them slowly so that they come down just next to you and you are able to avoid them all. The boss will then attack you with a scythe type weapon, showing where it is going to attack by puffs of smoke coming from the ground, so move away from that area prior to it landing. Once the scythe attack lands, it will cause smoke looking things kind of fountain out at you, so avoid them as well. It will then repeat these attacks until you defeat it.

Once this final boss falls and you have not used more than 5 continues, the trophy will be yours!

  • Rescue at least 10 prisoners in one Metal Slug 6 mission.

The location of the missions prisoners are as follows:

(Note: The video shows the locations of all the prisoners throughout the level even if I don't have them all still saved by the end)

    • 1: He'll be right near the beginning the level
    • 2: He's inside the truck you blow up shortly after the last prisoner
    • 3: He's right after you defeat the tall tank
    • 4 & 5: They are on the bridge after you defeat the helicopter
    • 6: Shortly after the last 2 prisoners, he'll be on your path
    • 7 & 8: They come in from the left side of the screen while you're fighting the train centipede
thing (only took one pic to show location)
    • 9: He will be in your path after you change screens
    • 10: After going up the hill, he will be on a little rock ledge
    • 11: After entering the cave and destroying the gate, he'll be hanging from the ceiling
    • 12, 13 & 14: Right after the last prisoner, 2 of them will be on the ground while the third is hanging from the ceiling
    • 15: He's a little futher than the previous ones sitting in front of a tank
  • Defeat the 1st boss in Metal Slug 6.

The boss is a giant bulldozer type vehicle that is looking to run you down. In the first phase of the battle, the boss will alternate between firing a torpedo that rolls along the ground (jump over to avoid) and an enemy popping up and shooting out lobbing fire balls. Once you do enough damage, the bulldozer front will blow off and down will come a drill, signaling the second phase of the battle. During this part of the battle, the boss will start by shooting out boulders from the top of it which lob down on to you and stick in the ground making it uneven. Move back and forth to avoid these while shooting the ones that landed to destroy them while making your way to the far left side of the stage to avoid the drill attack that it does afterwards where it extends the drill almost the entire length of the screen towards you before retracting it. The boss will then move forward a little bit, making the space you have free smaller and then repeats its previous attacks. Keep firing away on it and it should fall shortly after the first set of attacks.

  • Beat Metal Slug 6.

All you have to do to get this trophy is finish the game in general. It does not have any difficulty/continue restrictions attached to it, so I'd suggest using EASY/FREE PLAY settings. Also, when you start your game, select EASY mode in game as well and it will make the run a little less difficult and eliminate the final mission, so less you have to beat the game. After you defeat the final boss, the trophy will pop!

  • Beat Metal Slug 6 with 5 or fewer continues.

You have to make it through all of the missions without using more than 5 continues (you get 3 lives for each continue). The nice thing about MS6 is that you can can choose Easy difficulty in game as well as in the options making the your attempt much easier, but it also eliminates the final mission from the run which that by itself makes it's a HUGE plus.As with the other versions, patience and practice are going to be your best friends on this run.

Mission 1 Boss: The boss is a giant bulldozer type vehicle that is looking to run you down. The boss will then move forward a little bit, making the space you have free smaller and then repeats it's previous attacks. Keep firing away on it and it should fall shortly after the first set of attacks.

Mission 2 Boss: You will battling a huge tank that is speeding down an unnaturally long hill. The boss will begin by firing out a few missiles that will fly off the screen, then come back on and finally drop down on to you which you can either avoid by moving away from them or shooting them down. Next it will do a similar attack, but with smaller missiles and the same strategy applies with them. Once you do enough damage to destroy the top of the tank, a huge missile launcher will come out and fire a missile into the sky which will then drop down where you were, so move to the other side of the tank when it is coming down to avoid it. Just keep firing away on it while avoiding the missiles and you will take it down.

Mission 3 Boss: During this battle, you won't only be fighting with the giant robot with a brain for a control, but also the stage as you are going to have to keep moving backwards and jumping over boxes that are trying to block your path. The robot will start by shooting out energy balls that hover over you until they fall straight down on you, so move back and forth to avoid them. Eventually the robot will kneel down and it's hands turn into electric rods and he puts them on the ground sending a huge electrical blast across the whole lower level of the screen. When you see him getting ready for this attack, jump up on to the nearest box to avoid it. Further on, he will kneel down again, but this time he will pick up a bus and throw it at you, so hide behind a box to avoid the attack. His next attack will be a wave of energy balls that he shoots out of his chest at you, so try to get to the bottom of the level and duck when he does it. Just make sure that you are firing away on him and eventually he'll blow his top.

Mission 4 Boss: The boss here is a giant armored worm that rises up from the water in front of you. It's first attack is it shoots a poison blob out of it's mouth at you, but if you run up and jump onto the boss and stand under it's head, you will not be hit by them at all. Once it finishes, it will re-enter the water and upon it's re-emergence it will begin sending blobs at you that you will need to try to avoid as best as possible as they come from all over the place and float at you and I would suggest that you focus on them and not attacking at that point. After it leaves the screen, it will reappear from the other side and come at you before wrapping around on to the left hand side. Run and position yourself right under his head again to avoid the spitting poison blobs, but be careful as after he finishes this attack, the will spin his body that you will need to jump over the spin to avoid being hit. After that he will disappear and then come back up on the left side and shoot out a laser like attack to the far side followed up poison blasts down the screen towards him and the back, so make sure you position yourself on the lower rock platform on the left hand side to avoid the attack. It will then start repeating it's moving around the screen while shooting out poison blobs attack. Just keep laying into him with everything you have and eventually he will fall.

*In case you want a challenge and don't do this run on Easy*

Final Mission Boss: The boss will be encased in a bubble on the ceiling. Just keep attacking it while taking out the enemies that jump up on either side of you every so often until you destroy the bubble that it's in. After a pre-mature celebration, the true final boss emerges and is a large alien skeleton type creature whose head is you attack point. It will begin by firing a spread of fire balls followed by individual ones across the room as he moves his head back and forth. After that he will fire an energy blast at the ground dropping you to the next level down. He will then begin to shot a thin laser out of his eyes at you that will turn into a laser beam after a second or two, so keep moving to avoid the beams. He will then blast the floor again and repeat one of the two previous attacks, followed by breaking the ground (etc etc). Once you do enough damage to him, he'll start glowing and will shoot energy waves at your from all sides that you will need to jump & run to avoid or shoot them (although they are more difficult than the fireballs as they are faster moving). He will continue to attack with those as well as his previous attacks and breaking the ground. When he takes enough damage again, you both will begin to free fall down a hole, but he will keep firing energy waves at you from above, so keep shooting them and moving around to avoid. After a little while, he will fall to his death as you cling for dear life, but at least you're alive... or are you? (...You are)

Once this final boss falls and you have not used more than 5 continues, the trophy will be yours!
