Introduction:
Welcome one and all, fans of Neo-Geo, for its 25th anniversary. Metal Slug 3 has finally been released on PSN (as a unique port and not as a PS2 classic or a NG Station port), available for the PS3, PS4 and Vita, though at least the game shares the same trophy list for all 3 versions, it also includes Cross-Buy (get all 3 versions for the same price), Cross-Save (Save/Load anywhere from any PS3/4/Vita), and even Cross-Play (Play anyone online from any version). The story of Metal Slug 3 is this, the "Mars People" are back for revenge and it's up to Marco and the rest of the team to stop them.

Button Settings:
Metal Slug 3, as with other MS games (except some of the later ones that would use more buttons.) uses 3 buttons to Shoot, Jump and use Grenades.

Note: I wouldn't suggest using the Default controls, since they're quite weird the way they place it, I suggest using these when you change the button settings:

- Shoot
- Jump
- Grenade or in a vehicle...Cannon/Missile/etc.

Arcade Run:
You can get all of the Trophies in 1 run, considering, the options are set here. Note that changing game settings or saving the game does not disable trophies so don't worry about it.

Set the difficulty to "1", Lives can be set to 99 if you wish but it's optional since you can save/load anywhere.

Mission 1:
MISSION START
METAL SLUG ATTACK
1ST MISSION MASTER

Mission 2:
ELEPHANT RESURRECTION
ZOMBIE MASTER
2ND MISSION MASTER

Mission 3:
3RD MISSION MASTER

Mission 4:
HERE COMES HYAKUTARO ICHIMONJI!
4TH MISSION MASTER

Mission 5:
SLUG MASTER
ROUTE MASTER
POINT HUNTER
FINAL MISSION MASTER
MISSION ALL COMPLETED

Conclusion:
Although it's one of the longer Metal Slug games (considering the Final Mission takes way longer than the other ones), it's meant to be played over and over for replay value due to the game's branching paths where you can challenge yourself and more.

Simply set the difficulty on "1", with 99 lives, play the game all the way to the end and you'll unlock all the mission trophies. Just shoot and grenade everything in your path, you may use the Save/Load feature if necessary.

  • Achieve over 3,000,000 points

You will get the around the time Mission 4 or 5 comes around and you'll need plenty of POWs and Vehicles saved at each mission after destroying the Mission bosses. Check the Video below (you may use the Save/Load feature in case you lose a life or vehicle at boss fights):

  • Ride all the Slugs

There are a total of 11 "Slugs" in Metal Slug 3, just as a reminder, variant color versions might not count but they're just included for preference. Simply jump in on them and they'll count as riding on them.

Metal Slug: Mission 1 - Boat, Mission 5 - Clone Area 1, Last Area (Auto-Rides)

Camel Slug: Mission 4 - Desert

    Slugnoid: Mission 1 - Either Top/Bottom Path, Mission 5 - Last Area

Slug Flyer: Mission 5 - Starting Area

Slug Mariner: Mission 1 - Bottom Path, Mission 3 - Bottom Path

Slug Copter: Mission 5 - Starting Area, Flying Area, can be used up to 3 times within specific conditions if your vehicle is lost.

Elephant Slug: Mission 2 - "Iceman" Cave

Ostrich Slug: Mission 3 - Top Area

    Drill Slug: Mission 4 - Bug/Crab Cave

Astro-Slug: Mission 5 - Automatically rides once launched to space area.

Rebel Armor: Mission 3 - "Factory", Mission 5 - Last Area

  • Defeat any boss in the game with the METAL SLUG ATTACK

Despite what the trophy description says, you do not need to use the "Metal Slug Attack" (Shoot+Jump simultaneously) to defeat the boss, doing that won't get you the trophy, however, being inside the vehicle intact while defeating a boss, will though, easiest to get this is in Mission 1.

  • Reach the icy cave's exit with the Elephant Slug

You'll find the "Elephant Slug" in Mission 2 when you enter the "Iceman" Cave, carefully tread it all the way to the exit and don't get attacked by zombie projectiles, or else you won't be able to reach the end of the cave with it. Along the way, there will be either a Battery or Chili Peppers for the Elephant Slug to pick up, and to use as a secondary weapon of either a Laser or Flame Shot, use it to your advantage but it's limited to 10 uses.

  • Clear Mission 2 as a zombie

You don't actually have to play the entire mission as a zombie becasue once you get to the boss area, just leave one of the zombie scientists behind to attack you. Once you get turned into a zombie, shoot him and then don't touch the medkit (save your progress here just in case you get hit, reload here if you do). Once you face the boss of this mission, use the blood vomit (which uses your grenade stock) on them as it deals a lot of damage. Carefully avoid their attacks and you'll get this trophy.

  • Play all the routes

The game has "45" routes to discover, Missions 1 through 4 all have their own paths to choose from, while Mission 5 is a straight linear path. Note: This will be using the save/load feature very heavily so I'll tell you which areas to explore first, then save/load, when necessary. Note: You'll probably have to explore them all to make it count.

    Mission 1:

Save here where the Slug Mariner is, go on it and explore the area then before fighting the boss, reload from same spot. Now once you reach the area in the second image, save here, jump to the top area, explore that, then after that, reload, then go down to the boat here. Proceed as usual and take down the boss, get the extra POW's if needed (the top and bottom paths will give you the Slugnoid for the boss fight, though taking the middle path will let you use the Gold Metal Slug however).

    Mission 2:

Once you reach this point here, save if you wish, because both routes go to the same boss area later on once you progress (though taking the "Iceman" cave route will you'll find the Elephant Slug).

    Mission 3:

You can save however you like within these 3 specific spots and then reload them later but to be sure, taking the bottom (where there are 2 Slug Mariners) and middle routes will take you to the "Factory" area (where there is a Rebel Armor vehicle), taking the top route however, takes you above high ground, where there will be an Ostrich Slug waiting there later.

    Mission 4:

Mission 4 is a real doozy, I suggest saving where the 2 routes meet in the first image, then take the top route, you'll be on the top area about 3 times (the constant loading in the same area is a pain), one for opening the hatch that takes you over to the Mummy areas, both left and then later to the right which both leads to exits that requires batteries to open a door to the boss area, after going through all that, reload to the top area path, clear it of all enemies, and then jump into the cup that has a face on it where the birds nest is, after that, reload and head on to the bottom area, there will be wine bottles there, save right where you open the hatch but don't go in there yet, go further into a teleport pod where you'll fight soldiers with swords and other unconventional weapons. After clearing that area, reload to the spot with the hatch and the wine bottles, go in it where you'll find the bug/crab cave, be careful when you traverse in there, and there's also a Drill Slug for you to use, also, I suggest (more as a personal preference) to keep the [S] weapon for the boss, just avoid all other weapon pickups if you can. After that, Mission 5 is linear and you'll get all the routes cleared and also the "Point Hunter" trophy if you take the right paths.

  • Find and save Hyakutaro Ichimonji

Hyakutaro Ichimonji is a special POW that shoots fireballs from his hands and can be found in Missions 4 and 5 but it's easier to find him in Mission 4 in the beginning desert area, you can find him after you shoot down the 2nd rebel truck and hiding behind the sandbags you can shoot down to reveal him. In Mission 5 you have to shoot upwards, once you reach inside the spaceship then shoot the "second pillar" a couple times and you'll see him there.
